The full moon shone through Kagome's window, onto Kagome's sleeping form, giving her an angelic appearance. Inuyasha sat with his back braced against her nightstand, watching her. `C'mon Kagome. You can get through this. You can't leave me. Not before I tell you that I'm in love with you. Dammit! When did she get so sick?!'

 

~*Flashback*~

 

“Inuyasha?” Kagome asked uncomfortably. “What do ya want wench.” Inuyasha snapped. “I think I need to go home.” “Why?” Inuyasha asked. “ Because I don't feel so good.” Inuyasha walked up to Kagome and put his hand on her forehead to check her temperature. Sure enough, she had a fever. “C'mon Kagome, I'm taking you home.” Kagome just moaned as she climbed onto Inuyasha's back.

~In the Future~

 

As soon as Kikome (Rumiko Takashi never gave Kagome's mom a name so I did ) saw Kagome, Inuyasha, Kagome, and Kikome hopped in the car nd sped to the hospital. A few hours later, after many tests, the doctor walked in with his diagnosis.

“Ms. Higurashi?” the doctor said neutrally

“Yes Doctor?” Kikome said

“Your daughter has pneumonia. She should be well in a couple of weeks.”

“Thank you Doctor.”

“Here are some medications for Kagome. I've signed her release forms so you are free to go.”

“Thank you.”

After Kikome had picked up the medications they went home and put Kagome to bed. Inuyasha never left her side, not even when her mother was putting Kagome's pajamas on. He just looked away. After they had put her in the bed. Inuyasha decided to go to the Feudal Era and inform Sango, Miroku, and Shippo of Kagome's state.

 

“ Is she very ill?” Sango asked with worry

“Yeah. I'm gonna stay with her for awhile. I'll come check on you guys. Just stay near Keade's.”

“We will Inuyasha.” Miroku said

“Tell Kagome I'll miss her. I'll miss you to Inuyasha.”

“Thanks kid.”

“You best be on your way Inuyasha.”

“ `Kay. Miroku you better watch Shippo-”

“I'll watch the hentai.” Sango chirped in.

“Later.” Inuyasha chuckled and left.

~*End Flashback*~

 

Inuyasha was really worried about Kagome. He didn't think he could go on living if she wasn't by his side. He was in love for the first time and the last. He thought he had been in love with Kikyo but he realized she has just the first to talk to him without calling him a half-breed. Then he also realized, Kikyo had ordered him around………a lot.

Just then, Kagome turned in her sleep. She was now facing him and she looked distressed. Suddenly, she woke up with a look of terror on her face.

“Are you okay?” Inuyasha asked.

“Yeah. I just had a night mare.”

Inuyasha got up and sat on the bed, and he pulled Kagome into his lap. He was sorta had her sitting in his lap but she was using his shoulder as her new pillow.

“Spill.” Inuyasha demanded.

“…”

“Tell me about your nightmare.”

“Oh. Well we were battling Naraku and I had killed Kikyo with one of my arrows because she was trying to kill you. So, I had the rest of my soul back. Just before he died, he shot out one of his tentacles and it went through my stomach. We put the Jewel back together but I was dying.” She said easily.

“Go on.”

“You wished on the Jewel I'd live but it didn't work. Thankfully Sessomaru was there and he saved me…in a sense. But then Koga kidnapped me again. I told him I didn't want to be with him. I told him I didn't love him. So he,he,he…”

“He what Kagome?”

“He raped me!” She sobbed out.

Kagome fisted Inuyasha's haori in her hands as Inuyasha tightened his grip around the young woman he loved.

“Kagome, I'd never let him do that. He doesn't deserve you.”

“I don't love him so I can't be with him anyways.”

Kagome was a little crazy off some stuff from the stuff the hospital had given her. So, Inuyasha decided to take a leap of faith and ask her if she loved him.

“Who do you love Kagome?”

“Isn't it obvious Inuyasha? I'm in love with you.”

“Really?!” He asked trying to hide his enthusiasm.

“Yes. Every time I got the nerve to tell you how I felt Kikyo always showed up…”

That stung a little. He remembered how Kikyo always showed up at the times when he and Kagome had gotten closer. `She always shows up to yank my leash and remind me I'm in her debt. Well, she can kiss my fucking ass. I love Kagome and that's that!'

“Kagome?” He questioned

“Yes Inuyasha?”

“I l…”

“You what.” Kagome asked.

“I love you too!” Inuyasha blurted.

“Do you really mean that Inuyasha? What about Kikyo?” Kagome asked as her eyes started watering.

“Would I ever lie to you Kagome? Forget Kikyo. That was fifty-three years ago. She's only a shadow of the woman I once believed I loved.” He asked. His question was heartfelt and Kagome smiled.

“You have never lied to me. I love you so much!”

Kagome hugged him tightly and kissed him. Inuyasha was surprised and then he kissed her back. Reluctantly he pulled away.

“Go to sleep Kagome. My koi, my Enjeru.” Inuyasha has satisfied with his nickname for his beloved. (Enjeru is jap for Angel!!) It was perfect for she was an angel sent from heaven to love him.

“Hmmm. Goodnight Inuyasha. My koi, my Koinu.” Inuyasha chuckled at her nickname for him. `Puppy? Hmm. Well it makes sense…what am I SAYING??!! Can't wait until I have my own pups…' `You haven't asked her to be your mate yet!!'

Inuyasha and Kagome fell into a light slumber. Waiting for the next sunrise. The day Inuyasha would “pop” the question.
