Chaotic Living

Chapter 1

Family

A year had passed and everyone was living peacefully. Kagome and Inuyasha had the birth of their son Inuko. He had silver ears and a little patch of silver hair. He had silver eyes the same silver ears. He looked almost exactly like Inuyasha, but he had Kagome's smile. They married a month after Inuyasha's proposal. The wedding was beautiful.

It was simple and only close friends and family were invited. School was over and done with. Inuyasha decided to work with his brother in the family business. Since he didn't really have to work he'd only show up when Sesshomaru needed him. Kagome stayed home to take care of Inuko and Shippo.

They moved into their own house not far from the shrine. Shippo came to live with them. Kagome was like a mother to him. She thought of him as a son and thought the idea up. Inuyasha was happy too, even though he wouldn't say it out loud. He hated to admit it, but Shippo was like a son to him and even started acting as if he was one of his own.

Miroku and Sango's relationship was going great. He'd stopped most of the public groping. Sango hardly hit him at all anymore. Although the occasional gropes would still happen, but never as much as it used to. They both also lived with each other next door to Inuyasha and his family.

Inuyasha had gotten a little closer to his brother because of Kagome. They were now on friendly terms. Sesshomaru had married Rin four months after Inuyasha and Kagome's wedding. They had been planning it for a while and decided to finally go through with it. They were living together in the house Sesshomaru owned. After Inuyasha left to move in with Kagome, he immediately moved Rin in.

So far, after the Naraku incident, nothing had happened. Everything was going great. They couldn't have wished for better lives.

--

Something was there. In the dark was someone's presence. Who it was, she couldn't tell. She did know she'd never seen the person before. She could only tell it was a man. It was calling her. `Find me.' It said, and the presence started coming closer.

Kagome reached for it. The voice was almost hypnotizing. She hadn't even realized she reached out for it until she saw her arm in front of her. When the presence was right in front of her she heard a scream.

She drew her arm back and covered her ears. The sound wouldn't stop. It wasn't just one scream. It was hundreds of people screaming. Not being able to take it anymore Kagome sank to the ground covering her ears. "Stop!" She screamed over and over again.

Waking from the horrible nightmare, Kagome sat up dripping with sweat. A nightmare? Of what? Kagome brought a hand to her heart, trying to calm down. She'd never had a dream like that. It felt so real.

"Kagome?"

She was torn from her thoughts. She looked beside her at Inuyasha. He sat up and turned on the bedside lamp. "What's wrong?" He asked.

"It's nothing. Just a dream. Gomen, I didn't mean to wake you." Kagome said.

"A dream?" Inuyasha asked.

"Hai, I don't remember any of it." Kagome lied. She didn't want to worry him over nothing. "I'm fine."

"Alright." Inuyasha said. He turned off the light and laid back down with Kagome. He wrapped an arm around her and fell back asleep. It took Kagome a little while longer to fall back asleep. For some reason, the dream bothered her.

--

The next morning Kagome woke up. She quietly went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Inuko was still sleeping, which was rare for him this early in the morning. He usually woke up crying by now.

Right when breakfast was done Inuyasha walked into the kitchen with a crying Inuko. "Morning." Inuyasha said.

"Morning." Kagome said.

"Why didn't you wake me up?"

"Well, you had a long night, so I decided not to bother you." Kagome said. She took Inuko from him and grabbed the bottle she had prepared earlier for him. She sat down at the table and began to feed him.

"You still could've woken me." Inuyasha said.

"It doesn't matter now, does it?" Kagome asked.

"No, I'm just saying for future reference." Inuyasha said.

"Does Sesshomaru need you today?"

"Yeah...in about an hour actually. Why, did you need something?"

"No, I'll probably just go to Sango or Kaede's later on." Kagome put the bottle down and burped Inuko.

"Remember to take your cell phone." Inuyasha said sternly.

"I know, I know. How many times did you lecture me about it?" Kagome asked.

"Not enough apparently." Inuyasha rolled his eyes. Youkai would come and challenge Kagome. Her powers had grown exceptionally strong and youkai feared it. "You forgot it the last couple of times."

"That's because you put it in the wrong bag." Kagome said.

"Yeah, yeah whatever." Inuyasha said. He got up and put his plate in the sink. Kagome stood up to change Inuko's diaper. Inuyasha stopped her and kissed her before she got any further. "I'm going to take a shower."

"Hai." Kagome smiled. She walked into Inuko's room and laid him on the changing table. After she finished changing his diaper she went to his room to see if Inuyasha was having any troubles.

Inuyasha was cursing the tie he was trying to put around his neck. He'd only recently started wearing business suits. So far, he still hadn't learned how to properly put on a tie. Kagome always helped him with that.

"Need some help?" Kagome giggled.

"Ha ha." Inuyasha said dryly. "You know I hate suits."

Kagome gave Inuko to him so she could fix his tie. "How long are you going to be gone this time?" She asked.

"Not long. I'm only needed for a business meeting, so I should be home within an hour, two at the latest. I'll call when I'm on my way home." Inuyasha said. "I thought we could go out to dinner tonight."

"Just us?"

"Yeah, we haven't had anytime alone since Inuko was born." Inuyasha said. "I thought since Miroku owes me a favor, he could baby-sit tonight for us."

"Have you talked to him about it?" Kagome asked as she finished with his tie. She took Inuko back and rocked him lightly.

"No, I was hoping you could since I don't have much time. Just tell that bastard that he owes me a favor and he'll know what I'm talking about." Inuyasha said.

"I'll do that, but you better break it to Shippo." Kagome said. "He really wanted to watch movies tonight."

"Fine. Where is the little brat anyway?" Inuyasha asked.

"I think he's still sleeping. He hasn't made a sound all morning." Kagome said.

Just as she finished her sentence Shippo ran into the room. "Ohayo!" he shouted as he hugged Kagome.

"Morning Shippo." Kagome laughed.

"Damn runt." Inuyasha mumbled.

"O-ha-yo!" Shippo pronounced boldly as he hugged him.

"Morning Shippo." Inuyasha said as he picked him up. "Listen, we're going out to dinner, so-"

"Where are we going?" Shippo interrupted.

"Not we. Kagome and I are going to dinner." Inuyasha said.

"But what are me and Inuko supposed to do?" Shippo asked.

"Miroku and Sango are going to watch you. Well, after Kagome asks anyway." Inuyasha explained.

"Alright." Shippo said sadly.

"If you're good, we'll bring you some desert." Inuyasha said.

"Really?" Shippo asked.

"Yeah. I'll bring you some ice cream or something."

"Yay!" Shippo shouted and hugged Inuyasha again. He jumped down from his arms. "I'm going to get dressed."

Once Shippo was gone Inuyasha grabbed his jacket and threw it on. "Dammit I hate suits." He said.

"But you look so good in them." Kagome said.

"Keh, like I haven't heard that before." He mumbled. Kagome usually said that to get him to feel better. It only worked so many times until he figured out what she was doing. They both walked to the front door. "I'll call before I'm on my way home."

"Hai." Kagome said.

"Don't forget-"

"I know, don't forget my cell phone and always be on guard." Kagome interrupted.

"Smart ass." Inuyasha said. He leaned down to kiss her and Inuko before he left. "Bye."

"Bye. Have fun!" Kagome teased.

"Shut up." Inuyasha said.

Kagome giggled and moved out of the way for Shippo. He squeezed past her and the door to wave bye to Inuyasha. "Have fun." Shippo teased.

"You wait until I get home." Inuyasha threatened as he pulled out of the driveway. As he drove off Shippo stuck his tongue out at him.

"Come on Shippo, grab your coat." Kagome said.

"Where are we going?" He asked.

"To Sango and Miroku's, and maybe to see Kaede." Kagome said.

"Hai." Shippo ran back into the house to grab his coat.

Kagome dressed Inuko in warm clothing and put him in the stroller. She grabbed her jacket and purse while waiting for Shippo. "I'm ready." He announced.

"Let's go."

--

"Kagome!" Sango said as she moved out of the way to let them in.

"Hey Sango." Kagome said and stepped inside.

"What brings you here?" Sango asked.

"Well, I needed to ask Miroku a question. Is he around?" Kagome asked.

"Sure, he's in the kitchen. Miroku!" Sango shouted.

Miroku walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. "Ah Kagome, Inuko, Shippo." He said.

"Hey Miroku. I needed to ask you something." Kagome said.

"What is it?" Miroku asked.

"Well, Inuyasha and I were wondering if you could baby-sit tonight. He said to mention that you owed him a favor." Kagome said.

"Ah, sure we would love to baby-sit." Miroku said.

"We didn't really have anything planned anyway." Sango said.

"Arigato. I'll give you a call when we find out all the details." Kagome said. "I have to go see Kaede now. See you later."

"Bye."

Kagome, Shippo, and Inuko all made their way to Kaede's house. It wasn't far from their house. Almost everyone they knew was in walking distance of them. It was one of the reasons for picking their house.

Shippo knocked on the door when they reached Kaede's house. "Ah Kagome, how are you?" Kaede asked.

"I'm fine." Kagome said.

"You brought the young ones with you."

"Hai, I hope you don't mind us stopping by." Kagome said.

"No, not at all." Kaede said. "Please, come in."

Kaede let them all inside. "Shall we go to the backyard? Its such a nice day." Kaede said.

"Great idea." Kagome said.

"I'll get some tea. Why don't you head back there." Kaede said.

"Do you need any help?"

"No, just go ahead and sit down."

"Arigato Kaede." Kagome said.

Kagome walked to the backyard and set Inuko down in the grass. "Play with Shippo for a while. Make sure you keep an eye on him Shippo." Kagome said.

"Hai." Shippo said.

As soon as Kagome sat down Kaede came in with the tea. She served it and sat down. "So what's the reason for this visit?" Kaede asked. "Is Inuyasha away at work?"

"He is. Sesshomaru needed him for a while." Kagome said.

"Is there anything wrong?" Kaede asked.

"I had this weird dream last night. I can't get it out of my head. I can't explain it, but I feel like something is going to happen." Kagome explained.

"Hmm, your powers have grown stronger. It may be a dream warning you of what's to come." Kaede said.

"Warning me of what?"

"Your dream should reveal that. There are many reasons for you to have a dream like that. It's either warning you or someone is sending it to you." Kaede explained.

"Sending it to me? Why me?"

"Only the sender would know. Your dream may become clearer eventually. There are lots of things that could make you dream that. You will find out eventually." Kaede said. "Have you told Inuyasha about it?"

"No, he would get paranoid and become more overprotective than he already is. I don't want anyone knowing about it until I know what's happening." Kagome said.

"I understand. I won't tell anyone." Kaede said.

"Arigato Kaede." Kagome said.
