Recovery

 

The next morning Inuyasha dropped Shippo and Inuko off at Miroku's house before making his way to the hospital. It was an hour before noon but he wanted to see if she was okay. It had taken all of his control not to go three hours earlier. He usually couldn't sleep well without Kagome around but since she was gone and in the hospital he didn't sleep at all.

 

He grabbed a bag that was in the car seat and walked inside the hospital straight to Kagome's room. In front of her door the doctor was looking at his charts. “How is she?” He asked.

 

“She's fine. There was no more pain at all. She slept most of the night, although she did wake once from a nightmare but she doesn't remember any of it. It's a little early but you can take her home now. I can see you're worried about her.” The doctor explained. “Remember to let her rest for the week, longer if she doesn't feel any better.”

 

“I remember.” Inuyasha said. He walked into the room and saw Kagome sitting up right in the bed looking at the window. She turned her head when she heard the door shut.

 

“Inuyasha.” She smiled. Inuyasha ran to her side and kissed her. “Worried?”

 

“Baka...of...course...I...was...worried.” Inuyasha said as he said between kisses.

 

“I'm fine now.” Kagome said. “So I take it you're here to pick me up?”

 

“Yeah.” Inuyasha said. “I brought you something to change into. I didn't think you'd want to wear the dress or a hospital gown home.”

 

“Arigato.” Kagome took the bag and quickly changed into the blue dress he picked out. “I'm ready.”

 

“Let's get you checked out.” Inuyasha said. “We have to pick Shippo and Inuko up from Miroku and Sango's.”

 

“Hai.” Kagome said as she followed him out of the room.

 

As soon as Kagome was checked out Inuyasha carried her to the car, not wanting her to over do it. Of course she protested but couldn't overpower him in any way. She was glad that he was worried about her.

Inuyasha opened the door for his family and watched as Shippo ran into the living room to watch TV. He didn't tell him about Kagome's pain. Luckily when he picked the two up they were sleeping and asked no questions about where Kagome was. They just thought it was routine.

 

Kagome walked in with Inuko in her arms. She walked into the kitchen to start cooking lunch. A little pain wasn't going to stop her from anything. The doctor told her to take it easy but she felt fine.

 

“The doctor said you woke up from a nightmare last night.” Inuyasha said as he walked into the kitchen. “You don't have to cook we can order something.”

 

“I'm fine with cooking.” Kagome said and continued with her work. “I don't remember anything about it.”

 

“That's what the doctor said. You've been waking up a lot lately from a nightmare you don't remember. You sure your okay?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“I'm fine.” Kagome said. “Just a little startled is all.”

 

“I don't believe you.” Inuyasha sighed. “You're a miko. You can sense things better than anyone.”

 

“I'll talk to Kaede-sama about it then. See if she knows something.” Kagome said. “Can you take Inuko while I finish up? I'm making ramen so you don't have to worry about whether or not I'm overdoing it.”

 

“You will take it easy this week. Even if I have to tie you to the bed.” Inuyasha smirked. “And don't think I won't do it.”

 

“I know you would do it.” Kagome sighed. She handed Inuko to him and kissed him on the cheek. “I'll be fine so don't worry.”

 

“That's the same crap you tell me all the time.” Inuyasha snorted.

 

“Then I guess that means you'll be watching me like a hawk as always.” Kagome sighed. “Or even more so.”

 

“Damn right I am.” Inuyasha said. Something hard hit him in the back of the head. “What the hell was that for?”

 

“Don't use that language in front of the kids! Kami knows what you've already taught Shippo!” Kagome said.

 

“He's taught me lots of stuff.” Shippo said as he walked into the room.

 

“Did he?” Kagome asked. “What kinds of things?”

 

“He taught me how to hit Miroku when he brings up dirty things.” Shippo said.

 

“When did he teach you that?” Kagome put the plate of food on the table and took Inuko to feed him.

 

“When I asked how babies were made. Miroku started telling me but then Otou-san knocked him to the ground and started yelling at him about being a lecher and how Sango would never have his children if he were to teach his kids stuff like that when they weren't the appropriate age.” Shippo explained and started eating.

 

“When did this happen?” Kagome asked.

 

“This morning when he dropped me off.” Shippo said with his mouth full.

 

“Don't talk with your mouth full. Miroku is really going to suffer brain damage.” Kagome sighed.

 

“The lecher deserves it.” Inuyasha muttered.

 

“Do you have to work today?” Kagome asked.

 

“Nope, I'll be here all day to watch you.” Inuyasha smirked.

 

“Great.” Kagome said sarcastically. “What fun that will be.”

 

“I think we should go and buy a movie.” Shippo said.

 

“I think Inuyasha should take us all shopping.” Kagome smiled. “After we eat get ready so we can go.”

 

“Yeah!” Shippo shouted.

 

“When did I agree to that?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“You didn't but you don't have a choice either.” Kagome said.

 

“I could just stay home.” Inuyasha stopped eating and shrugged his shoulders.

 

“You could but I thought you were going to watch me like a hawk?” Kagome giggled and started walking away so she could change and change Inuko. “Wouldn't want me to collapse in the crosswalk would you?”

 

“Clever little bitch.” Inuyasha said after she left.

 

“I heard that!” Kagome said from the hallway.

 

“Damn.” Inuyasha chuckled.

After a long day of shopping Inuyasha walked into the house and dropped to the floor. “That was the worst day ever!” He shouted.

 

“It was not and you know it.” Kagome said as she walked in with Inuko in one arm and Shippo in the other. He quickly ran to his room with his stuff. “You had fun.”

 

“Being dragged from store to store, listening to women go gaga over Inuko, and carrying every thing you bought is not fun!” Inuyasha growled.

 

“You got ramen didn't you?” Kagome asked.

 

“I could've eaten that without shopping!”

 

“Well then you wouldn't have made me happy with all the gifts.” Kagome smiled. She kneeled down a kissed his cheek.

 

“Gifts! You took my card!” Inuyasha said.

 

“I'm on the account so it's not taking.” Kagome said, she stood up and began walking away.

 

“I have the card for a reason!” Inuyasha stood up and spun her around. “The only reason I let you get away with it was because you were in the hospital.”

 

“Maybe I should go to the hospital more often.” Kagome laughed.

 

“Better not! You took ten years off my life!” Inuyasha yelled.

 

“You'll live a long time.” Kagome shrugged. “Like you'd even miss the ten years.”

 

“That's not the point!” Inuyasha yelled.

 

“Keep your voice down. I don't want the neighbors coming over to complain. They threatened to call the cops next time.” Kagome crossed her arms.

 

“You started it.” Inuyasha said.

 

“Your so childish.” Kagome sighed. “It's like I'm raising three children instead of two.”

 

Inuyasha grabbed her around the waist and kissed her. “I'm not childish.” He said and leaned down to kiss her neck.

 

“Ew!” Shippo shouted from the hallway. “You guys are gross!”

 

“Wait until you grow up you little runt.” Inuyasha muttered.

 

Kagome giggled and turned towards Shippo. “Did you need something?” She asked.

 

“Oh, Uncle is on the phone for you Otou-san.” Shippo held up the phone.

 

Inuyasha took it from him and rubbed his head. Shippo smiled and ran back into the living room. “What?” Inuyasha said grumpily.

 

“Can't you answer the phone in a dignified manner? Even your son says a proper greeting.” Sesshomaru said.

 

“What do you want?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“Must you always assume I'm calling with a purpose?” Sesshomaru asked.

 

“That's the only reason you call, that or to piss me off.” Inuyasha growled.

 

“I actually called to see how Kagome was doing.”

 

“Then why didn't you ask for her?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“Because your jealousy would make you grab the phone. So either way I have to get through you somehow.” Sesshomaru explained.

 

“Keh, whatever.” Inuyasha said.

 

“So how is Kagome?” Sesshomaru asked.

 

“She's fine now. I'm going to make her an appointment later next week to get a check up.” Inuyasha said. “She's going to rest this week no matter what!”

 

“Say what you want doesn't mean I'm going to listen!” Kagome said in a singsong voice.

 

“I see she still has a good head on her shoulders.” Sesshomaru said. “Rin wants the two of you to stop by the office. She wants to see how Kagome is and I need you to look over some documents while they visit.”

 

“I knew there was something behind it!” Inuyasha shouted.

 

“Sei is unavailable to work right now and either way you'll have to read the documents for future references. Might as well get them out of the way today.” Sesshomaru said.

 

“We're not coming into the office today!” Inuyasha shouted.

 

Kagome grabbed the phone from Inuyasha and moved away from him. “We'll be there as soon as we find someone to watch the kids.” Kagome said. “Hai, I will. Ja ne!”

 

“What the hell? I didn't want to go! You're supposed to be resting!” Inuyasha shouted.

 

“It's not like it's exhausting to go see Rin and Sesshomaru.” Kagome said. “Besides he said you have some things to go over. I'm going to call Kaede-sama and see if she can watch the kids for a while.”

 

Before Inuyasha could say anything Kagome had walked out of the room dialing Kaede's number. He plopped down onto a chair and leaned his head back. Today was going to be a long day...
