Ritalin_writer: Forgive my long absence I've been coping with a conspiracy as it would seem and with that have lost a portion of my dwindling sanity *sigh* Life is sweet isn't it?
~Last time~
What had once been Buyo that had touched her behind was now a very much uncomfortable, very smug looking man. His hair deep obsidian and a sly expression on his face that made it easy to interpret he liked the outcome of the entire ordeal. He had two earrings in either ear. He adorned the traditional kimono styled robes for a monk but his motives as of yet seemed anything but holy. His grin revealed pointed fangs and like the boy Kagome held, had a tail, bulkier than the twelve year old and instead it was black with light brown stripes and brown tip.
“Uh, hi there forgive me for the inconvenience as well as intrusion but I must -“He grunted as Sango took the vase by the window sill and smashed it over his head, the man falling unconscious immediately.
Kagome unwontedly dropped the boy on his head who grunted as well, momentarily she stared into space before growling angrily, hands finding her hair and fisting it.
“When will this nightmare end?!”
~Now~
“Now is this really necessary, I whole heartedly understand the situations may appear a little sketchy but we really are here merely for your protection.”
So said the raccoon dog monk as he was roughly tied to the headboard of Sango's bed for interrogation. Sango didn't have rope so she'd used the extension cord she'd had in the basement and it worked quite well surprisingly to restrain the perverted youkai as Kagome, Sango, Kohaku, Mrs. Higurashi and the real Buyo attentively watched him. The little boy that had been the lamp was easy enough to condemn to one of Sango's laundry baskets which Kohaku stood guard. Well actually sat guard actually.
The teenager was sitting on the plastic hamper the red headed boy inside looking through the gaps sullen and angry at the Monk for dragging him along on this assignment and getting them caught.
Sango glared her cheeks tinted as Buyo leapt onto the bed to sniff at the man's sandals, vividly recalling the fake Buyo's actions. “You be quiet you broke into my house,” she paused trying to steering clear of what he'd done to her. “Inappropriately touched me and Kagome impersonated the family cat and to top it off you're a demon. What's the deal are we suddenly targets or something!?” she vented and if only she knew how right she was.
The Man closed his eyes looking suddenly serious as his brows furrowed.
“One could say just that I'm afraid.” His voice was devoid of that cocky arrogant naivety and despite being tied up he seemed completely comfortable. “I was sent here by a dear friend of mine to watch over Kagome, you as well,” he said drawing his gaze up to Sango who unconsciously took a step backwards as their gazes met. “I presume you are to be Sango then?” He spoke and the woman in question dumbly nodded, speechless for some reason.
Kagome didn't register her friend's sudden demeanor shift as she continued to press the man for information. The mere factor of knowing her name didn't impress her, hell, anyone could find that out if they looked in the science column of the newspaper where the names of the scientist working on project `Entei'.
Crossing her arms she looked over to the captive twelve year old who cringed as if struck by her gaze alone. Either that or he knew not to say anything to this lady when she was angry.
“Alright then who is this dear friend of yours that knows me so well?” she asked visibly fuming over the situation. Her brother wasn't going to have a normal life again, her mother was a wreck, her friends were in danger and now demons were everywhere in her life. Who did she kill in the past life?
The man shifted for a moment and then rose from his position, the extension cord completely sawed through. Sango and Kohaku looked dumbstruck and the man smirked nonchalantly raising his hand and revealing the extended claws.
“This friend of mine is as foul mouthed, hard headed, hanyou that shows no regard for anything unless it benefits himself.” He said and Kagome unconsciously smiled.
“Inuyasha.”
“There see, we have a mutual acquaintance.” He said as he walked over to Kohaku. Who abruptly got up having seen what he did to the extension cord. The twelve year old under the laundry bin upturned it and looked anxiously at the man.
“Miroku can't I just go back to the clan? I mean it's not like you need me right? You're powerful on your own.” The little boy said plaintively as he clutched the said man, Miroku's, robes.
Miroku bent down and ruffled the hair on the boys head. “But Shippo I need you here for moral support. I'd hate having to do such an important mission alone.” He chided as the boy glared unconvinced.
“Yeah right you probably need him to look cute when things go wrong.” Sango growled turned sideways but never the less glaring menacingly at the monk with the now rigid tail.
“Just what kind of demons are you?”
They had all now turned to Ms. Higurashi who was surprisingly calm about seeing two demons in the house. Her expression was both passive and curious which was uncanny to say the least seeing as her sun was in the ICU that very moment and her children had been attacked.
Miroku crossed his legs and sat on the carpeted floor, his tail curling slightly around his knees but too short to go all the way around. Shippo mimicked his posture however his tail was shorter and didn't even curl. However it did twitch cutely when Buyo began batting at the tip of the fluffy appendage.
“I am Miroku Nakuharu, I am a Tanuki, or raccoon dog belonging to the Clan Henshin.” He explained turning his blue gray eyes then to Shippo and resting a gloved hand on the shorter boys head, extracting an expression of annoyance from the boy.
“This is Shippo my apprentice, he's a fox demon who came into our clan two years ago with his father who was badly injured and unfortunately left this world.” Miroku explained solemnly eyes closed as he began to pat Shippo's head, Buyo still playing with his tail and becoming very much interested in it.
“That's so sad. I lost my father too.” Kagome said absently forgetting her mother was still present and when she realized this she only caught a glimpse of the woman's back as she left the room.
“Mom…”
Kagome moved to go after her mother, hearing the soft click of a door closing and the hopeless locking of the door. She was not dissuaded as she walked up to the door and pressed her palm to it, shiver because of the cold wood on her warm hand as she retracted it and knocked gently.
“Mom? Mom can you let me in?”
“Please I just need to sleep.”
“But mom I…”
“Kagome, please, I'm just so tired I can't handle this right now.”
“…”
“Alright mom. See you in the morning.”
There was no parting reply as Kagome left the door and walked back into the opposite room. By her sullen expression everyone could tell it hadn't gone well and they didn't press her as she sat on the bed. Sango moved to the bed and embraced her friend and Kohaku too sat beside the women and placed his hand comfortingly- on Kagome's shoulder giving his support on the matter. They could all relate it would seem.
They all had lost loved ones due to tragedy.
Kagome was more grateful for their company and their empathy then she could bear as silent tears overwhelmed her vision and streamed down her face.
Miroku and Shippo watched in silence and feeling very out of place in the remorseful atmosphere he placed his staff over his shoulder, positioning it for easy access if need be before waltzing out of the room. Shippo followed closely behind the raccoon dog demon.
Minutes past in tearful silence and hugs, before the three regained their composure and whipped their faces free of tears. Their exhaustion got the better of them and without even thinking they were all asleep in a small comforting pile. Though they might wake with a crick in their necks and a little worse from wear, at least for this soundless moment they could find peace.

Inuyasha had not wasted a moment after requesting aid from the Henshin clan to head towards that abomination complex where his brother resided. The rain had stopped its ceaseless torrent and had only left a light drizzle. Never the less he felt sickly, his breathing coming in rasping gasps as both exhaustion, horror, and inner turmoil became overbearing residents to hinder his persistence.
His hair plastered itself to his face, clothing to his frame and ears sodden wet against his head. He grunted as he recounted the hopeless feeling during the battle with Goshinki and even with the knowledge that he had at least defeated his opponent, his carelessness had made him lose a great deal more then he had gained.
Tetsusiaga had been broken.
Not only that be poor Souta. He wasn't even involved with the predicament that had somehow befallen Kagome and now he was going to be handicapped for the rest of his life.
He coughed vigorously, his lungs felt ice cold as did every other inch of him having stood in the rain for at least three or more hours after Miroku had left to do as he had asked taking that fox apprentice with him.
How could he have not seen this coming? Why hadn't he put two and two together when everything had started happening all at once?
Kagome was a target, for what he wasn't sure but he was going to find out as soon as he got home.
Unfortunately he never got that far.
Even in his ice cold state he neglected the simple factoid of human vulnerability. Having shut off the demonic portion of himself yet again he had forgotten that a human is less durable and easily susceptible to virus.
Once keen vision was becoming a haze of distorted colors and his once acute hearing was dulled considerably. Breathing became harder and harder and establishing a consistent rhythm was becoming a trial instead of an unconscious habitual function.
The silver haired hanyou did a face fault as his balance gave way to lethargy and consuming sickness. He raised his face from the mud and looked vacantly at the road ahead though it was just a blur as his vision slowly turned black.
“Crap…”
Footsteps, light and almost timid could be heard and a figure appeared from the shadows, eyes keen and watchful. By the luscious curves of the contour it was evident that it was a feminine entity approaching the semiconscious half demon.
“Still as hard headed and stubborn as always aren't you Inuyasha.”
The voice was familiar even to his dulling senses, comforting in a way that was only friendly.
Golden eyes met for a split second before true unconsciousness' overcame the hanyou.
The second pair of golden eyes were still attentive and watchful, the morbid cheerfulness of them uncanny. Obsidian hair cascading down her back and something glittered around her neck that emitted an aura neither demonic nor human. Simply supernatural.
A golden necklace of sorts hung around the exposed neck of the woman, on one side of it hung what appeared to be half the symbol of a yin yang, the white half on the left side. Settled on the right side was the second half, the black gem shimmering like onyx. And finally in the very middle of the two halves, preventing them from reuniting was a small golden outlined mirror.
“Just like old times right?” she said as she rested a gentle hand on the exposed, cold, clammy hand of the man sleeping.
“K-kis…met….”
