Last Time
I see you figured it out.” Ketsumaru grinned spitefully; hand moving to Kaira's left shoulder and slowly sliding the Yukata sleeve down and revealing two pinprick markings beneath it.
“She is my mate.”

Vapors of purple mist swirled in ominous tendrils of eroding gas around the remains of a Buddhist temple that had been converted into a private residence for Lord Sesshoumaru's chief advisor. It was one of the last standing buildings after the radioactive explosion.
Now the demons lived in squalor and with that they gained a new perspective. Humans were inferior, minor beasts in the economic food chain and in order to correct this transgression they needed to exterminate them. Unfortunately the humans were thinking along the same lines which would explain the project `Entei' that had been reopened after fifty years of unsuccessful experiments.
The concrete had been subject to the noxious haze and was beginning to erode under the potency of the fumes. The once golden statues of Buddha that had been erected from times of samurai and feudal lords were now reduced to rubble on their pedestals. The temple itself however was untouched.
The shrine had been renovated into living quarters upon Naraku's request. The said demon was currently seated nonchalantly on the wooden floor of the temples porch like ledge, his bare feet exposed as he sat contemplatively staring spitefully at the person in front of him. Or more or less the mirror the person held up to him.
Kanna a girl who looked like she belonged in the first grade was one of his past creations and was actually the older sibling, if you will, to Kagura.
The little child looking girl was an emitted no demonic energy which considering her fathering entity was a half demons constantly mystified others. Her eyes were the kind of obsidian of a soulless doll. Her skin was beyond the comprehension of the term white, colorless with no tint other than a light blue that was the shadow of her clothing. No emotions. Naraku wasn't sure if that had been his doing or merely Kanna's for such a passive demeanor. A pristine white flower was attached to either side of her head and her long white hair made her appearance doll like, almost cherubic.
But one who had had their soul removed by the small mirror she held to her could easily say otherwise. Currently though the mode of action wasn't aggression, but monitoring. Naraku's plan had failed and thus Sesshoumaru had been adamant that the plan had been a failure and sent Naraku to find another way to destroy the project that could end their existence. Crimson eyes stared at the mirror that though did not mirror his image, but mirrored the happenings of the outside world.
The glisten of the glass revealed to what had been happening for the last two days, rarely did he move as he watched the images soundlessly fly by. `Accursed humans their extinction and domination was inevitable. Why did they insist on tempting fate and rebelling against their betters?'
Evidently Inuyasha had recruited two demons to watch over that Kagome woman of his which irked him. Though he had no qualms over killing demons that were inferior or had no use to his plans for domination, he did not need to wage war against the humans and the Henshin clan as well. Now there were obstacles barricading his path and separating him from his primary goal. Absently he petted the baboon pelt draped across his lap as he felt an uncanny presence looming around the vicinity.
“I know you are there. You are mine to control so do not think I cannot sense your whereabouts.” He said monotonously as he awaited the presence to become the solid entity before him.
A light, devious smirk contorted his features into a spiteful pleasure upon seeing the demon before him. “I assume you've gathered the needed information?” he inquired as a figure manifested before him as if materializing from the air itself. The fumes had no effect on this person as she crouched before the conspiring hanyou with a faint flicker of resentment in her eyes.
“Yes. All the needed preparations had been accounted for. Although something else has become apparent to me within the duration of time I have been in your service.” She said the hint of audacity in her tone didn't deter the expression of her master in the least.
Placing his elbow on his knee and resting his chin on his knuckles Naraku allowed the sickly grin to widen, watching as the woman bristled before him. “Oh? Then what pray tell has gotten you in such a vehement attitude today?”
“The Shikon facilities head manager, Hojo; I believe he is attempting to hire bodyguards for Kagome Higurashi.” The woman said watching and repressing a growl as the smirk widened. Oh how she wanted to wipe that grin off and replace it with fear.
“Is that all?” he asked somewhat relieved that it was only bodyguards being sent his way. “Human guards are no match for what I have in store for them.” He chided but this time his expression faded as the woman kneeling before him smirked deviously, an expression he had to think twice about.
“On the contrary Naraku, they aren't exactly `normal' bodyguards. I picked up that their work specializes in demons.”
Naraku actually cursed at this. “Damn, will there be no end to their idiocy.” He snarled and this time he bristled seeing the content smile on the pale face of the woman. “Get out of my sight and fix it.” He growled.
“As you wish Naraku.” She said before vanishing.

Kagome lay awake in Sango's bed, eyes watching the sheets as they moved ever so slightly with her ever so slight movements. Yes she had stayed in bed the entire day of yesterday and now having regained consciousness all she could think about was her family, friends and the danger that was suddenly weaving its way into her life that was once so easy to accomplish. Two days had come and gone and there was no sign of Inuyasha which worried her the most. The only demon she knew besides Miroku and Shippo that she knew that had no intentions of harming her.
Speak on the two affiliated demons they hadn't once left the house which was a given if they were supposed to protect them. Or the other little factoid that they each had tails and pointed ears and being shot on sight didn't appeal to them.
She tossed restlessly in her bed before deciding to actually take the initiative to get up. Her legs felt like lead from lack of use, or maybe she was just too tired even after having two days of rest. Now it was Monday and it was once again time to deal with everything else in her life. She shifted through the drawers and looked for her own clothing and after retrieving the appropriate garments headed languidly into the bathroom.
Sango had already gotten up; she'd always been the early to rise, early to bed kind of person.
The hot water coming from the overhead shower was a delicate spray and helped release the tension in her. A heavy sigh came from her as the steaming water battered her gently with a massaging tempo. Souta had become conscious yesterday and the event had been worse then she had been worse then she had expected.
The hospital had called them as soon as Souta had been able to sit up and they had hastily piled into the car and drove down. Unfortunately when they had arrived Souta had already begun throwing a fit. Losing a leg was definitely a life changing ordeal, more so for him.
When they had entered the room Souta had already busted nearly every mechanical and breakable object in the room that he could get his hands on. Doctors and nurses were attempting to restrain him but they could barely get within three feet of him without being struck with the iron rod that held the I.V sack.
The teenager had forcefully ripped out the small butterfly needle that had been his I.V from his arm, the small trickle of blood from the unnaturally pulled implements splattered blood on the sheets and floor in small flakes. His disheveled hair only added to the slightly deranged look as he wailed with the new weapon at the doctors as they attempted to restrain him.
After constant pleading they had managed for forcefully extract the make shift pole from him and restrain him.
Kagome's mother had fainted seeing Souta in such a state.
It had taken an hour or so to resituate him but Souta was sitting upright in the bed, staring vacantly at the wall either that, or at the missing appendage. He hadn't spoken to them at all during their visit and the eligibility of him returning home had become an indefinite no. Seeing as his reaction to losing the limb may cause him to become suicidal, the doctors advised they leave him in the hospital to recuperate and for physical therapy.
They were given the option of going with a prosthetic leg, the surgery would be painful but it was better then the teen having to live the rest of his life in a wheel chair. The Higurashi's didn't hesitate to agree and soon after their traumatic visit left.
Now Kagome exited the tub, wrapped in a fuzzy blue bathrobe, still dripping slightly as she wrapped her hair in a white towel, piling it on her head and waltzing out of the bathroom and back into Sango's room.
“Where has my life gone?” She murmured, grabbing the brush from the dresser. Just as the doorbell chimed.
“I'll get it!” called Sango from downstairs and the light sounds of her moving across the wood floor made Kagome sit bolt upright. To say the least Kagome had become paranoid over the entire situation. Miroku had said they were targets but she believed that she was their primary goal because they had attacked her apartment first. Seeing as it would only make sense to attack the most powerful, in this case powerful in the knowledge that the `Entei' project would dispel demonic activity, made her the true mark.
“Don't answer the door!” she yelled sprinting down the stairs having thrown on a pair of white bunny slippers at the top of the stairs as she raced after the brunette inches away from the doorknob. Kagome's eyes hastily darted around searching for a suitable weapon and having no time to dwell on how effective it would be. She nabbed a lamp, this time hit it a few time to make sure it was Shippo again.
“Kagome, what are you—“
Sango wasn't allowed to finish as Kagome covered her mouth with her hand, looking the woman in the eye.
“You know what they say; the most deadly predator is in the home.” Kagome hissed.
Sango looked incredulous.
“That didn't even make sense!” she hissed back as Kagome pressed her back against the door, her breathing coming in short pants as she clutched the lamp readily.
“Alright, 1…2…3!”
She flung the door open and without a moments hesitation swung the lamp like a sword with every intention on injuring.
With liquid quickness a hand grabbed the iron shaft and easily caught hold of it holding it in place.
“Whoa, easy there girly. If your thinking I'm a demon you're mistaken.” The vocals were baritone but did not have the cocky arrogance of Inuyasha but never the less had an ignorant flare.
Kagome brought her eyes up to meet gray blue. The man in the doorway appeared within the region of twenty six and was dressed in a fashionably clad gray and white suit. His Black hair was long, longer than Sango's, pulled into a low braid that nearly reached his ankles as he stared cockily at the women.
“Now don't shoot the messenger ladies.” He chided as another man pocked his head over his shoulder. The second man seemed a bit younger or maybe it was that childish grin as he waved to them over the first mans shoulder. His hair as well was black and his eyes were also a grayed blue. His black hair seemed shorter but it appeared a pin was holding it in place at the back of his head.
“Uh, who are you people?” Sango asked as the two men shouldered into the foyer, the first with the long braid still held the lamp in case Kagome decided it was necessary. He smirked sinisterly as he reached into his pocket.
“My name is Jakotsu this is my younger brother Bankotsu, we're bodyguards.” The short haired man said with an unwavering smile.
Kagome released the lamp, taking a tentative step away from him as she felt Sango tense as well. To say the least she was surprised that the one named Bankotsu was actually younger then the second man but she shook that away to keep attentive.
“Why are you here then? I didn't ask for bodyguards.” Kagome said skeptically as Bankotsu stopped his search to stare at the rigid women. He looked inquisitively at them. “You're Kagome Higurashi right?” he asked as he began digging into his pocket again.
“Who wants to know?” Sango said defiantly regaining her composure enough to sound scathing. Twice now her home had been violated.
The second man mimicked the first and each pulled out a leather wallet like object, only to flip up the flap and reveal polished golden badges.
“Under the Federal Association of Demon Slayers, Kagome Higurashi I place you under house arrest.”
