InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Child or Not ❯ The Spell ( Chapter 1 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Naraku is getting sick of the progress made by the shard hunters to foil his plans. So...he comes up with a new scheme to slow them down. He revives Tsubaki, and gets her to place a spell on Kagome, who is obviously his true threat at the moment. Once done, he easily kills the black miko again, in order to insure that she won't lift the spell. Now Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango, Shippo, and Kirara are stuck with a child Kagome, who doesn't remember anything about her adventures in the Feudal Era. She only seems to remember being out with her father, before she was suddenly there. They must work now on finding a way to break the spell, and getting Kagome to trust them again.
Disclaimer: I don't own InuYasha...or Kagome...or Miroku, or Sango, or anyone else in this fiction. They're all the belongings of their creator, Rumiko Takahashi...and as much as I might not like that, I shall respect it. But I'm still borrowing them...so there! xP

Chapter 1: The Spell
A mist surrounded all the occupants in the room, which were only 3. One sat near the back of the room, fanning herself quietly with her fan and had a bored look on her face. Another sat in front of a small basin with different herbs and ingredients lying about her. The third and final occupant of the room sat watching the dark priestess work her black magic.
The woman sitting at the basin began to chant lightly, picking up a powdery substance and tossing it into the basin, before ceasing her chant. She turned to the other two occupants in the room with a small nod. “It is done…now all that needs to be done is to get this into her system.” With a wave of her hand her shikigami slithered from her shoulders and seemingly drank from the basin, before slithering from the room. Yet another wave of her hand sent the snake animal to the vicinity of the unsuspecting victim.

Meanwhile, walking along a narrow dirt forest path was a rather unusual group. Up in front was a man clad in red, who had long flowing silver hair and the most adorable dog ears. Yes, it was the hanyou InuYasha. Trailing slightly behind him was the youkai exterminator, the last of her clan, Sango. Now slightly to the left and behind her was the young monk Miroku, who was taking advantage of his placement to watch the demon slayer's behind as they walked. Finally, bringing up the rear of the group was a raven haired young woman, clad in a green and white sailor fuku, Kagome Higurashi.
Now Kagome was wheeling her bike along, not feeling the need to ride it at the moment. Sleeping in the bike basket, were the final two members of this traveling party, Shippo and Kirara, the fire nekomata. This was a rather peaceful journey today, so they were taking advantage of the resting time, knowing they might not get some in the future, although it was fairly obvious that Kirara was still alert, being as her ears and paws twitched occasionally.
Kagome brought a hand from the handlebars of her bike up to her face, to cover her mouth as she yawned. They had left fairly early that morning…and lately she had been having a bit of trouble sleeping, so she was a bit tired. Noticing that her friend was lagging behind, the youkai exterminator slowed her pace to walk on the other side of the contraption her friend was wheeling. Now Sango didn't totally see the point of that bic-icicle, or whatever it was called, because she usually just hitched a ride on InuYasha's back, or on Kirara with her, but she didn't bring it up at the moment.
“Tired Kagome-chan?”
The girl in question looked over at the slayer and smiled reassuringly, shaking her head slightly.
“Just a little…but it's nothing really.”
Accepting her friend's answer, she proceeded to bring up another topic for them to discuss; something about the future for her to learn. The last time they had camped, Kagome had shown her some magazines that had intrigued her, and thus she had a few things she could talk to the girl about now. Neither girl noticed the snake following silently behind them, until it leapt. Sango's head snapped, and her eyes widened. She could see the shikigami, and she recognized it, so she did what she had to at the moment. She shoved her friend lightly out of the way and used her giant boomerang to block the path of the snake.
Upon hearing the commotion, InuYasha and Miroku turned to glance back. A frown was on the face of the hanyou as he was prepared to call back to them, but froze as the scent of magic drifted to his sensitive nose.
“What's going on?!”
Being confused enough, Kagome just sat there on the ground where she landed when shoved, in a slight daze. Taking the opportunity, the shikigami changed direction and bit the arm of the girl, giving her the dose of solution made by the black priestess. Being as it's work was done, it was about to leave when a boomerang split the creature in half, and two sutras landed on each half, disintegrating it.
Once the snake creature was gone, Miroku and Sango turned their attention to Kagome, who was holding her arm with a frown. Already at her side trying to check the wound was InuYasha, frowning some, showing his concern for a moment before moving so Sango could get a look at it.
“Keh…let's just hope this doesn't slow us down. It's only a small bite if anything.”
Miroku frowned, before shaking his head.
“I take it you didn't recognize that snake then…”
That caused the hanyou's ears to twitch, and his head to turn to look at the monk, who had a pensive look on his face. He frowned, and shook his head with a snort.
“Keh…course not. I mean if I killed it I ain't gonna remember it…”
“Typical…InuYasha, that was the same shikigami that Tsubaki the dark priestess used when she first put a curse on Kagome…remember when you fought her? Remember the agony that Kagome was in?”
As a rather large frown made itself known on the hanyou's face Miroku sighed and nodded.
“Oh shit…”
“Exactly my friend…exactly. We just have to play things by ear now to see if things turn out alright.”
InuYasha frowned as he glanced at Sango as she looked at the wounds on Kagome's arms. He could tell they weren't deep…but now she did smell a bit odd…like there was something affecting her smell. He crossed his arms in his sleeves, and padded over to them softly. Without a word he took Kagome's injured arm from Sango, gently of course, and sniffed the wound, before frowning again and dropping it.
“InuYasha? Something the matter? Poison?”
The hanyou didn't respond for a moment, looking pensive. “No…no poison. But it does smell weird.”
After receiving odd looks from the girls, Miroku stepped forward and spoke.
“It is possible that the snake didn't inject you with poison, but rather some sort of potion…”
There was silence, before Sango spoke.
“You know…that snake reminded me of Tsubaki's shikigami…do you think it was a shikigami?”
“There was no doubt about it…that was the same shikigami Tsubaki used to curse you the first time Kagome…we need to be careful. Maybe we should set up camp here just to make sure that everything will be alright.”
After being unusually silent, Kagome sighed and nodded. “Alright…” This was just great…it would figure an old enemy would come back to bite again. Literally.

There was now a new occupant in the room. The white demon, Kanna, held her mirror for the man to peer into, as well as the dark priestess, to see if things were going according to plan. Upon seeing the girl bitten, Naraku smiled a cold smile, and nodded his head, motioning for Kagura to carry out his next order.
The wind demoness glanced at him with an annoyed look, but nonetheless stood up and opened her fan. A few moments later, the jewel shard that the baboon pelt wearing half demon had revived the priestess with was lying on the floor, along with the bones of the now dead again dark priestess.

“Soon InuYasha…very soon…”
The sound of a cold, cruel laughter proceeded to fill the room once he finished speaking.

Hey everyone! It's my second fiction here…well the second I'm publishing on this site anyway. I've written a bit more of Ex's, but I really need a new title for it. Anyway I'd just like to make an important note here. I know that when Tsubaki died, her remains (which were ashes) had blown away. But since this isn't real, I am saying that somehow, Naraku had her revived. That is that. Now this idea is fresh, and I'm inspired to write. So review, but even if you don't I'm still going to post as much as I write. Ja ne! ^^
