Satire of the Yarns Spinner

Kagome was sufficiently freaked. A giant centipede youkai just pulled her down the well-was continuing to pull her down the well-and now wanted some kind of jewel it thought she had. Without thinking, she turned her hand and blasted the thing. Scrambling out of the well, she panted until she noticed that she was outside. Where was the well house? Looking around, she couldn't find her house anywhere and hadn't a clue where she was. Shakily, she began walking down what seemed to be a trail. Up ahead, what looked like a village came into view. The confused miko hurried to it and knocked on the first door she came to. An old woman in ancient clothes opened the door.

"Um, excuse me, ma'am, I know this is going to sound crazy, but I just got pulled down a dry well by a centipede youkai and when I climbed out of the well, I wasn't at my home anymore. In fact, I don't think I'm even in my own time."

The old woman studied her a minute and then chuckled. "Hai, child, that does sound crazy. I, however, am a firm believer in the impossible. Looking at ye's clothes, I have a feeling ye are from the future. Tell me, are ye a miko?"

Kagome sagged with relief that the old woman believed her. "Hai, I am. That's the only way I got away from the youkai. I blasted it."

The woman motioned for her to come inside. "What is ye's name?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm Higurashi Kagome."

"I am Kaede and I am the miko for this village."

"The youkai that jumped me demanded some kind of jewel. I didn't know what it was talking about. Hey, you're kinda taking this well. I mean, do you often get visitors from the future knocking on your door?"

Kaede smiled and shook her head. "Iie, but I had a dream that ye would come. I dreamed that ye would help rid this land of the evil Naraku."

"Naraku? Who is that?"

The elder miko handed her some soup. "He is an evil hanyou who wants the Shikon no Tama for himself. He would plunge the world into darkness."

"Shikon no Tama?"

"Hai. Once, many years ago… (Ok, here, just insert what you already know about Midoriko creating the jewel and how Kikyou became the guardian of it.) Once Kikyou, my sister, had possession of the jewel, she protected it with her life. When Naraku tricked her and Inuyasha (Pretend Kaede told her about Kikyou and Inuyasha's love), the jewel simply vanished. A baby appeared in the village. The baby girl had extraordinary potential, and her miko abilities were of the purest kind. The Shikon no Tama was inside her. The jewel created a child to protect it. A mysterious inu youkai rushed into the village and snatched the baby from us. The lady youkai ran to the well and jumped in, disappearing. She came back a moment later, without the baby."

Kagome was getting very uncomfortable hearing this. Deep inside her, something clicked and she knew her life was about to be tossed on end. She didn't want to hear it, but something made her listen. Something within her forced her to pay attention as the old woman shattered her illusions.

"I'm sorry, Kagome, but I'm afraid ye were that child. Ye are the Shikon no Tama embodied."

Kagome gulped. "Um, the jewel became m-me?"

Kaede laughed and shook her head. "Iie. The jewel is inside ye. It probably has been protecting ye all these years. It finally brought ye back when it deemed ye were ready."

Suddenly, a great commotion was heard outside. The two miko hurried out and found several centipede youkai about to destroy the village.

"Give us the jewel! Where is the jewel?" They hissed at the frightened humans.

Kagome ran down the road toward the woods and yelled over her shoulder. "Kaede! I must get them away from the village!"

"No, child! Don't go into the forest!"

But it was too late. Kagome disappeared into the woods with the centipedes on her heels. She ran until she came to a large tree. Stopping under it, she panted to catch her breath. She gasped when she heard someone call out to her.

"Oi! Wench! Get me down."

Kagome looked up and was surprised to find a hanyou dangling from the tree. All her air left her when she saw his silver hair and golden eyes. Sesshou? She thought. Her hope deflated when she saw the dog ears on top of his head and his gruff demeanor. Looking at him, her hope was completely gone when she noticed his lack of facial markings. Sighing, she shook her head. Kagome no baka. You know he isn't real.

Slowly, she looked back at the dangling boy. He was pinned to the tree by an arrow and he seemed to be very upset at her.

"Are you Inuyasha?"

He blinked. "Hai, so? Who are you?"

"I'm Kagome and I'm afraid I have a bit of a problem. See, there's a bunch of centipede youkai chasing me. If I get you down, will you help me get rid of them? I can't handle so many at once."

He glared at her for a second. "Fine. Just get me down."

Kagome grinned and climbed up the vines. She grasped the arrow and they both watched as it disappeared in her hand. The two jumped down in time to see a swarm of centipede youkai crash into the clearing. Kagome cupped her hands and the taikou lightening formed, crackling. Inuyasha attacked the nearest ones.

"IRON REAVER SOUL STEALER!" She heard him shouting as he destroyed the monsters.

Kagome was doing her share of the fighting. None of the youkai could stand her lightening when she unleashed it on them. Inuyasha finished the last of his off and turned in time to see Kagome blast the last of hers. His jaw hit the ground. Finally, she turned to him and smiled. The hanyou was a little wary of her powers, but he stubbornly stayed put. She walked over to him and grinned.

"Thanks a lot. I think Kaede was wrong about you."

That got his attention. "Kaede? Kikyou's little sister? What's she got to do with this?"

Kagome looked at him sadly. "You've been asleep for fifty years, Inuyasha. Kaede isn't a child anymore."

Her eyes suddenly got big as her face contorted in pain. One of the centipede youkai had managed to crawl over to her and bite into her side. The Shikon no Tama spilled out with her blood. Kagome gasped and grasped for the jewel, but a bird came down and swept it up into the air. Suddenly, an arrow shot out of the forest and pierced the bird. Unfortunately, it also shattered the jewel.

Kagome cried out, "NO!" as she watched the jewel fragments scatter to the winds.

There was nothing they could do but watch. A fragment floated down and landed in Kagome's palm. She held it to her side, and her wound disappeared along with the fragment. Her body had absorbed it. Pivoting to look at Inuyasha, she found him advancing on her threateningly.

"Give me the jewel fragment, wench."

"What? No, it belongs in my body."

He lunged at her just as a rosary was tossed around his neck. Kagome said the only thing she could think of.

"Osuwari!"

Kaede, from the sidelines, laughed as her rosary crashed Inuyasha into the ground. "That should keep ye under control, Inuyasha. Ye need Kagome and Kagome needs ye to find all of the shards. Come back to my house and we'll discuss what to do there."

They nodded, Inuyasha reluctantly, and walked back to Kaede's house. Kagome could tell already that Inuyasha was going to be a wonderful traveling companion. Snort. Yeah right.

That night, Kagome snuggled down on the futon Kaede lent her and twisted the white ring on her finger. Sesshou. She looked up as Inuyasha poked her hand.

"Oi, wench, who gave ya that?"

She twisted the ring again. "My best friend. I've had it for a long time."

He snorted. "Feh. It looks like it came from a fang, to me. How did you get a fang from a youkai?"

Kagome rolled her eyes. "Inuyasha. I told you. My best friend gave it to me. Go to sleep."

Inuyasha scowled but returned to his own corner. He was determined to find out about her ring one day. He could wait for a while. The jewel shards were top priority.

Kagome's Dream

~~**~~**~~

Kagome woke up expecting to see Sesshou. Instead, she found herself surrounded by an inky blackness. Her own body seemed to be glowing faintly, for which she was thankful since it allowed her to see herself. Everything else was just darkness.

"Sesshou? Are you trying to scare me?" She said as she began to walk. "Cuz, you're doing a good job of it."

She heard a clatter and whirled around, but found nothing. "Sesshou! Where are you? Answer me!"

Nothing. Silence permeated her being as she began to run. She had to find Sesshoumaru, she'd promised. He had to be here somewhere; she only had to find him. It would be all right as soon as she found him. He would make it ok. She just had to hang on until she found him. Hang on until Sesshou was here.

A long time later, she had found nothing. Sesshou was gone. He had left her completely. Kagome didn't know what to do. She'd never been without her friend. The pain washed over her in waves as she felt the void in her heart ache. She was alone. A strangled sob was wrenched from her chest as she fell to her knees.

"SESSHOU!"

~~**~~**~~

Sesshoumaru was in a panic. He couldn't see anything but himself and had no idea where Kagome was. He'd been searching for what seemed like hours, but could find nothing. Slowly, the dawning horror that she was gone seeped into his body and he slid to the ground. Kami, please no.

Suddenly, a terrified voice ripped through the dark abyss.

"SESSHOU!"

He leapt to his feet and began running toward the voice. That was Kagome, his Kagome, and she sounded frightened out of her mind. She was still here, somewhere. He only had to find her. A glowing light in the distance forced him to pick up speed. As he neared it, he realized that it was Kagome. Relief washed over him. As he got closer, however, he saw that she was crumpled on the ground and crying hysterically.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He heard her chant over and over to herself.

"I'm sorry Sesshou. Whatever I did, I'm sorry." A chocked cry rattled her body. "Please don't leave me. I'm sorry."

Sesshoumaru's heart broke, but just as he was about to reach her, he slammed into an invisible wall. Terror rose up in his throat as he pounded on it to release him. He was so close. He could even see the tear tracks on her face.

"KAGOME!" He shouted, scratching and banging, pleading at the wall to let him through.

Sesshoumaru saw her jerk up and look around. "Sesshou?" She whispered.

She heard him! Kagome lifted her hand and allowed a taikou orb to materialize there.

"Sesshou, if you can hear me, this won't hurt you." She said as she threw the orb toward where he stood.

The orb hit the wall in front of him and spread out. The wall was now visible to them both. A shimmering, silver cord appeared. One end was attached to Kagome's ring and the other to Sesshoumaru's. He saw the cord pass through the wall. Slowly, he tugged on it and watched as Kagome allowed herself to be pulled toward the wall.

"Sesshou?" She whispered as she came flush to the wall.

Please, please let this work. He prayed fervently as he gave another tug and pulled her through the wall. She tumbled through and fell into his arms.

"Oh, Kami, Kagome. I thought I'd lost you."

Kagome had pretty much wrapped herself around him and was crying against him. She couldn't seem to hold him tight enough. Sesshoumaru flopped down and just stroked her hair and her back until she quieted. Still, she didn't let go of him, and he was in no hurry to push her away for fear that she would be taken again.

"I thought you'd left me," she whispered in a hushed voice.

"Kagome, I'd never leave you."

She sniffled and then seemed to realized what position they were in. He was sitting down holding her and she had her arms and legs wrapped around him. A deep blush painted her cheeks.

"Um, Sesshou?"

"Hai?"

"I-uh-that is, could we change positions?"

He looked and took stock of their situation. Somehow, after the adrenaline rush, this seemed outrageously funny. Sesshoumaru chuckled a bit before giving way to full fledge laughter. Kagome sighed in annoyance and rearranged herself to a less provocative position. Sesshoumaru, however, wouldn't let her out of his arms, so she settled for sitting between his legs with her back to his chest.

"What happened?" He asked once she'd settled against him.

Kagome shrugged and seemed to find it funny that his tail had wrapped around her waist as well. Her hands itched to pet it, but she remembered that he didn't like having his tail petted. With difficulty, she restrained herself and focused on answering his question.

"I still want a tail."

Sesshoumaru blinked and his eyebrows drew together as he looked at her. She grinned and pointed to his tail occupying her waist. He found this extraordinarily embarrassing, but didn't comment on it.

"I think it has to do with the Shikon no Tama."

He turned her so that her left side was leaning against him and gave her his attention.

"What about the Shikon no Tama? I've heard some things on the jewel, but what does it have to do with our dreams?"

"The Shikon no Tama formed a body for itself after Naraku's trickery. It made a baby girl to protect it. A lady inu youkai spirited the girl away to a dry well that connected to the future. The baby was left there to be safe. Today, in the well house, a centipede youkai pulled me down the well and I ended up in Sengoku Jidai. Kaede thinks I'm the baby. Her theory was proven when a youkai bit me in the side and the jewel spilled out of my body. The jewel was shattered and I only have one shard of it now. I have to hunt for the rest of the shards so I can restore the jewel and destroy Naraku. I'm not alone, though. A hanyou by the name of Inuyasha is going to help me."

Sesshoumaru tensed up and looked at her intently.

"So, I think that the Shikon played a role in our dreams. I also think it was what saved me when I was five and almost drowned."

Her eyelids were getting heavy. With amusement, she realized she was about to fall asleep in a dream.

"Thank you, Sesshou. Thank you for finding me."

He watched as she fell asleep in his arms. If what she said was true, then he had some serious matters to think about. The hope that she might somehow really exist wormed its way into his heart. Her soft breathing relaxed him and he smiled when she snuggled closer. If there was any possible way that she was real, he would find it. He would find her somehow. He only prayed that she was the same as the angel sleeping in his grasp. Tenderly, he kissed her forehead and rested his chin on her head.

"I'll find you for real, Kagome. If you are really out there, I'll find you."

End Dream

~~**~~**~~

Kagome trudged behind Inuyasha and resisted the urge to singe his hair. It had been two weeks since they'd began this journey, and along the way, their group of two grew to a group of six. Sango, a youkai Taijiya; Miroku, a hentai houshi; Shippou, a kawaii kitsune; and Kirara, a neko fire youkai had joined the team. The stupid hanyou was a slave driver. Suddenly, Inuyasha stopped and drew the Tetsusaiga. (In this story, Inutaisho, Inu and Sesshy's father, just gave the sword to Inu. So Inu hasn't faced off with Sesshy in front of the group yet.)

"What's the matter, Inuyasha?" Kagome asked.

"My half brother is here for the Tetsusaiga."

Kagome's brows raised, but she stepped back with her other friends. They figured it was a family dispute and none of their business. Shippou pulled on Kagome's pants' leg and she knelt down to him just as Sesshoumaru came into the clearing.

"Well, little brother? Are you ready to give up the sword, yet?"

Kagome heard a cool, deadly voice say. He sounds so familiar. She thought as she pulled the briars out of Shippou's tail.

"Go to Hell!"

"Tsk, tsk. Such language. A trait you no doubt inherited from your human mother."

"You konoyarou. Did you come here just to insult me?"

"Be not a fool. I have no such time to waste."

Suddenly, he stopped and Inuyasha noted with some surprise, that he looked almost shocked. His cold, emotionless brother looked surprised. Inuyasha turned to find out what he was looking at. Kagome was kneeling beside Shippou and handing him a lollipop.

"Kagome?"

Her head shot up and she gasped as their eyes met. Inuyasha noticed that Kagome's face paled slightly as she jumped up and took a couple of steps forward.

"Sesshou?"

Now Inuyasha was thoroughly confused. So, being that he was Inuyasha, he did what he does best in these situations. He swung his sword at Sesshoumaru. The older youkai dodged and took one last look at Kagome before disappearing. Inuyasha snorted with contempt and turned to face the miko. He found her on her knees-pale as a ghost.

"He's real," she muttered before passing out.

When Kagome awoke, it was dusk and they had made camp. Inuyasha immediately bombarded her with questions about his brother. She refused to answer him, and that made him even madder. Finally, Miroku convinced him to leave her alone and let her answer when she was ready. She shot him a thankful look and picked up her water flask.

"I'm going to get some water."

"Feh."

Sango distracted Shippou so Kagome could be alone and gave her an encouraging smile. The young miko walked slowly to a nearby stream and sat down. Her reflection blurred in the water and Kagome looked up to see a full moon. Sighing, she looked back at her reflection and found another face had joined it. Spinning around, she came face to face with her best friend.

"Sesshou?"

Sesshoumaru's heart was going to explode in his chest-he knew it. Tingles raced across his body as he silently approached the kneeling figure. That had to be her. It had to be. Calmly, he peered over her shoulder and waited until she noticed him. She faced him and he saw shock and joy fill her very real face.

He knelt in front of her, but couldn't find anything to say.

Suddenly, Kagome launched herself into his arms. "You're real, you're real, you're real…" she chanted as she hugged him and rained tiny kisses on him.

His arms snaked around her as his chest rumbled in amusement. Hai, this was his Kagome. She even smelled the same. Gently, he pulled her away from him and looked at her. The tears in her eyes made her already lovely orbs ethereal.

"I knew I'd find you," he whispered.

Kagome hiccupped and smiled. "What do we do now?'

He shook his head. "I don't know. If you didn't have to complete the Shikon, I would tell you to come back to my home."

"What does that have to do with anything? Can't I come visit you? You could join our group and help with the hunt, if you want."

Sesshoumaru pulled her into a very real hug, kissing the side of her neck. "I can't leave the Western Lands for the time it would take to gather all of the shards, but hai, you could come stay with me whenever you wish. Will you come back with me, Kagome?"

The young miko grinned. "I would love to." Her face turned worried. "I have to tell my friends where I'm going, however. I don't want them to think I've been kidnapped."

The taiyoukai nodded. "I will walk you back."

They rose and made their way to camp. Before they could even get half way there, a red blur leapt out of a tree and took a swing at Sesshoumaru. The taiyoukai pushed Kagome behind him and snarled at the offending attacker. Kagome's aura flared when she saw who it was.

"INUYASHAAAA!"

Said attacker gulped.

"OSUWARI!"

Sesshoumaru's lips twitched as he watched the hanyou get up close and personal with the nice, soft ground. A string of obscenities rose from the prone form in the dirt and Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed at some of the things he was calling Kagome. Quirking his head to the side, the taiyoukai calmly walked over and nonchalantly ground Inuyasha's head into the ground with the heel of his elegantly shod foot.

"Do learn how to speak in front of a lady, Inuyasha."

More colorful words, but Sesshoumaru merely stepped off of his half brother with an exuberant bounce and followed Kagome to camp.

Sango, Miroku, Shippou, and Kirara were surprised to see Kagome walk back into camp with the demon that well, sorta, attacked Inuyasha that very afternoon. Kagome cheerfully chirped introductions and gathered her belongings into her large yellow pack.

"How long will you be gone, Kagome-sama?" Miroku asked.

Kagome drew out the most recent piece of the Shikon. Purifying it, she handed it to Miroku.

"This should allow you to see the Shikon no Kakera for two weeks. Is it all right with you guys?"

"No it ain't all right, bitch! You're the fucking shard detector, for crying out loud! What do you mean you're going to visit Sesshoumaru? The bastard'll probably kill you or worse."

Sesshoumaru very calmly turned around and punched Inuyasha right in the nose. "I do not believe you have been spoken to, half breed."

Inuyasha didn't have much of a come back to that in his unconscious state. Kagome giggled and looked at her friends again. Shippou had to be bribed with a lollipop, but after they were certain she would be safe, they agreed to see her again in two weeks. Kagome picked up her pack and stood by Sesshoumaru, smiling. The taiyoukai wrapped his arm around her waist, gathered his youki under them, and took to the sky.

Inuyasha came around in time to see them flying off. He jumped up, called Kagome every thing he could think of and then wiped his nose on his sleeve. The other four in the group looked at him disgustedly. Sango's face turned an interesting shade of green when the hanyou blew his bloody nose on the same sleeve. No way was she letting Kagome ride on his back anymore when she returned. While Sango didn't know all about germs and things of that nature, she was not about to let her friend anywhere near Inuyasha's snot rag. Miroku felt the same way. Shippou, who didn't see what the problem was, was impressed when his own nose produced a record breaking booger on the ground. Sneezing helped dislodge the boogers if you blew your nose at the same time, apparently. Miroku, Sango, and Kirara slept on the far side of camp from Shippou and Inuyasha from then on.

Thank you all for your wonderful reviews! Someone asked what `Utskushii' meant, well, it means `beautiful.' At the end of the story, there will be an entire translation section for you wonderful reader's benefit. I can't thank you enough for reading my story. I warn you, it does end abruptly, so if you want a sequel, tell me when it's through. I hope you like a whole lot of Sess/Kag fluff, because the next two chapters are pretty much just that.

Loves and huggles,

Arella

Oh, yeah, that last paragraph was really gross, ne? What can I say, it was really late when I wrote it.
