'Don't cry, Kagome.. He's too much of a jerk to care anyway!' she fumed. Kagome marched straight into her room and hurried to pack her supplies for the trip, throwing everything on her bed and basically creating a huge ruckus.
Mrs. Higurashi appeared in the door way. "Kagome, dear? Is everything alright?" she asked, concerned.
'No it's not! InuYasha's being a total jerk and I want to squash him like the insect he is!' "No I'm fine, Mama." she replied as she sorted out the things she would need to put in her bag while leaving the rest on the bed.
"Are you sure? Because you don't look fine," Mrs. Higurashi remarked. "I could help," she offered.
Kagome's hands paused in mid-air and heaved a sigh before sinking down on the bed. She lifted a tired hand to her face and let it stay there. "InuYasha was being.. well.. InuYasha."
Mrs Higurashi smiled and went towards her daughter. "Men can be a little overbearing at times. I won't pry, because I respect you Kagome. If it helps, InuYasha isn't like any other guy. I'm sure he cares for you.. in his own way," she patted Kagome's lap. "I'm going to head to the grocery store to buy some food for you to bring back."
Kagome saw her mother leave out of the corner of her eye. Deciding she'd be better off studying for her upcoming exams than moping around, she took out her text book and started reading. It was awhile before she realized she was reading the same line over and over. Growling in frustration, Kagome snapped the book shut and stood up to open her closet. She dragged out a pair of shorts and a cream colored camisole before taking a towel and her underwear and headed for the bathroom. 'I need a bath.. a real bath.'

"That Kagome..! I didn't say she could leave!" InuYasha muttered under his breath as he headed for the well. "I'm gonna show her!"
He leaped into the air and straight into the Bone Eater's Well. He didn't see the knowing grin on a certain monk's face behind the bushes.
The hanyou shot out of the well house and hopped up the roof outside Kagome's window. He slide open the window pane and his eyes widened in shock. Lying on the bed, Kagome was fast asleep. That wasn't what had caught his attention though. She was lying on her stomach, hair tangled up in a towel which her hand was gripping. Dressed in a flimsy piece of cloth she called a camisole, it hugged her curves a little too nicely. InuYasha sucked in a sharp breath and swallowed. His hand ached to reach out and touch her. It seemed too surreal, a girl as perfect as her should exist. His gaze took in her long legs stretched out on the bed, up till the pair of shorts that rode up her rear. He could see her pink cotton panties peeking out, teasing him, goading him.
InuYasha forced his eyes shut and turned away. His body seemed to protest his every step as his mind lingered on the image of the sleeping girl. His ears twitched as he felt her shift and he almost moaned when her scent wafted to his nostrils. It was too much to bear. InuYasha clenched his fists until his palm started to bleed from the the pressure of his claws. He held on to the scent of his own blood and got the hell out of the room, away from the one girl who could turn his world upside down and inside out in a moment.

"Kagome? Come down for dinner!" Mrs. Higurashi called from the kitchen.
The girl in question yawned and stretched. She opened her eyes groggily and sat up slowly, while looking around her. It was dark outside, which meant..
Kagome's eyes widened and whipped her head around to look at the time. It was 7p.m. She cringed inwardly as InuYasha's anger came to mind. She hadn't meant to sleep so long, only until her mother came back. Kagome scooted over to her bag lying on the floor and started throwing all her things back into it. Grimacing as she saw her school books lying around, she grabbed a Math book and stuffed it into the bag too.
A breeze blew into the room and Kagome shivered. She walked towards her window looked out at the city lights. It was then she realized her window had been shut before. Her gaze narrowed as something dawned on her: InuYasha was here. Her eyes lit up with excitement. 'InuYasha.. he came to get me..'
Sticking her head outside, Kagome tried to peek into Goshinboku, tried to spot for a flash of red and silver in the trees or anywhere. Seeing only darkness in the tree, she gave up and slid her window shut before throwing a t-shirt over her camisole and trudging out of the room.
"Mama, why didn't you wake me?" Kagome asked, voice thick from her nap earlier.
Mrs. Higurashi looked up and smiled. "Well you looked so tired.. I didn't have the heart to wake you."
Rubbing her eyes and stifling a yawn, Kagome nodded. "I need to go back now, you wanted me to bring back something?"
Mrs Higurashi wiped her hands on her apron and opened a cabinet full of ramen and potato chips. Then she pointed to the dining table which had packets of candy on it. Kagome shook her head at her mother's habit of spoiling her friends and proceeded to help herself to the ramen and potato chips before snatching the candy and running up the stairs to her room. Mrs. Higurashi followed her and watched as her daughter attempted to cram everything into her bag by force.
"I take it you're not staying for dinner?"
Kagome looked up from her task at hand and smiled apologetically at her mother. "I'm sorry Mama, I promised to be back as soon as possible."
"Alright then," Mrs. Higurashi agreed. "Another thing dear; your previous school is organizing a singing competition and they asked you to be one of the contestants. Houjou came by this afternoon to inform you but you were asleep."
Kagome bit her bottom lip. "I'd love to, Mama.. I just don't know when I'll be back."
"I did tell him you'd consider. I just thought maybe you needed a break," she offered.
Kagome stopped what she was doing and the contents in her back spilled out once more. She let out a long breath and sat down on her bed, twisting her hands together. Since she was 5, her mother had sent her for singing classes. Although she never particularly enjoyed it, her father had, before he died, that is. The thing was, she had obligations to the past and a competition could take months end. She would never hear the end of it from InuYasha if she stayed here that long.. ’And he doesn't have Kikyou as a second jewel detector now..'
She knew her mother wouldn't mind if she turned down the offer, just disappointed. And as for herself? She reveled in the times she sang because it somehow made her feel closer to her father, as if he was standing right beside her, listening to her. Maybe.. maybe her mother felt that way too. Kagome closed her eyes and swallowed. 'I should at least try.. it's not like I enter to win.'
Freeing her hands, Kagome stood up and stepped over to hug her mother. "I'll do it then," she decided.
Mrs. Higurashi placed her arms on Kagome's shoulders and leaned back to look into her daughter's eyes, beaming. "Now, why don't you give a call to Houjou before going back?" she suggested, before giving Kagome another squeeze and letting go. She turned and walked out of the room.
Kagome followed and went to the living room. Picking up the telephone, she dialed Houjou's number and waited for him to pick up.
"Kagome?"
"Uh.. yea. Hi."
"Was there something you wanted? Oh hey! There's a new movie airing this weekend! Let's go see it together!" Houjou exclaimed with excitement.
Kagome gnawed on her bottom lip. "Sorry but I have something on this weekend. I just called to inform you that I would be taking part in the singing competition you told my mother about this afternoon."
"Oh, I see. That's wonderful! I'm taking part too. Do you want to sing a duet together?"
'Gee, why doesn't he give up?' "No thank you, Houjou. Thanks, anyway."
"Sure. Hey do you suppose we could practice toge---"
"Oh I got to go now Houjou, see ya!" Kagome hurriedly put down the phone before the boy could come up with anymore ideas to ask her out. 'Sometimes, I wish I liked Houjou.' Kagome winced. 'This is one of the sometimes.' she mused, thinking of InuYasha and his temper.

"Singing? Keh, does she think she's a bird?" InuYasha muttered to himself. He had been in Goshinboku, listening to Kagome sleep from his perch. Then he had shifted to the roof, listening to all their conversations. Deciding it was time to show his face, InuYasha let himself slide down the roof and grabbed the ledge at the last minute before swinging into Kagome's room. "Oi, Kagome. We're leaving."
Kagome's smile faltered when she saw him. "You can go back first, InuYasha. I'll be leaving soon." she pushed past him to arrange the books on her desk in order and continued humming to herself.
He snorted. "I'm not going back without you. Who knows, you might go on a date with Houjou behind me," he remarked, sneering at Houjou's name.
She turned around and pasted a fake smile on her face. "Well, InuYasha, I don't see why it is any of your business. Go away."
"Do you like him?" InuYasha asked softly.
"Well, why not? Every girl likes a nice guy. And he's nicer than average. Unlike someone."
He flinched at the deliberate jibe. "Keh! He's just some bastardly coward."
"At least he's not a jerk," Kagome shot back.
"Are you saying that I am?" he demanded, voice escalating.
"Oh nooo, you're the nicest guy ever!"
InuYasha stomped to the corner of the room and sank down, removing Tetsusaiga from his waist and wrapping his arms around. "Whatever, Kagome. Hurry up."
Kagome threw her hands up in the air and let out a growl of utter frustration at the stubborn hanyou. With more force than necessary, she shoved her books into the shelf and marched to her bed to brush her hair.

"At least part of my prediction was correct.." Miroku observed thoughtfully. "I just hope the next part comes true too."
Sango shook her head at the demented monk who seemed more interested in his friend's affairs than he should be. "One day, houshi-sama, InuYasha will kill you."
Miroku chuckled and turned towards her, eyes glowing with a strange intensity. "You wouldn't allow him to, would you?" he asked, voice taking on a husky quality.
She licked her lips nervously and stared back at him, not knowing what to do. Sango felt her face grow warm under his scrutiny. "Hou..shi-sa..ma?"
"Miroku."
Sango's gaze turned confused. "Huh?"
"Call me.. Miroku," he said before leaning in and planting a soft kiss on Sango's lips. Sighing, he wrapped his arms around her and pressing his cheek on her head.
Sango closed her eyes and reveled in the moment. "I was thinking.. Mi-Miroku.."
Miroku smiled and leaned back to look at her. "Yes, Sango?"
"I want to move back to the exterminator's village.. after we get married."
His gaze turned serious. "Are you sure?"
Sango's eyes took on a fierce glint. "Yes. I want to rebuild the village."
"Anything that pleases you, Sango, my love, my dear, my.. wife."
On impulse, Sango leaned up and pressed her lips against his. "Thank you, Hou---Miroku."
Miroku wrapped his arms around her once more, tighter than before.

InuYasha watched Kagome stomp in and out of the room and flinched inwardly. Her upset was affecting him too. 'What did she mean, nice? I'm not nice?'
'No, not really..' his youkai answered.
'Keh! I don't remember asking for your opinion.'
'Keh! You don't have a choice.'
"Oi, Kagome!" He called when she stomp back into the room.
The miko turned to face him fiercely.
"Uh.. Y-you can go."
Kagome's gaze turned confused. "Go..?"
"To the singing competition!" InuYasha spluttered.
Her confused expression turned into a smile, much to his relief. "Why, thanks InuYasha!"
"Keh."
Her footsteps softened and Kagome skipped around the room now, humming under her breath. Finally, she snapped her bag shut and stole a glance at InuYasha, who was staring at her with something akin to wonder.
"I'm ready.. InuYasha?"
InuYasha continued staring at her, not appearing to have heard her.
Kagome squat down in front of him and waved a hand in his face. He didn't even blink. She took in his face, hand itching to reach forward and caress him, to see if he was real. 'He's so.. perfect. How can anyone ever hate him, think of him as tainted.. worthless?' Kagome wondered. Her gaze dropped to his lips, slightly parted. A blush crept up her face as she wondered what it would be like to kiss or touch those. Kagome gulped and let her gaze travel to his eyes. His eyes. Kagome stifled a sigh and watched the gold swirl around the depths of them.
InuYasha blinked as he snapped out of his daze. "Ahhhh!" he screamed, shocked at the proximity between him and Kagome.
Kagome's let out a small shriek at InuYasha's loud exclamation. Her hand flailed out and she squeezed her eyes shut as she lost her balance and started to fall backward. Acting on instinct, her hands flew out to grab something---anything. She felt something soft---InuYasha's hair and pulled. She let out some sort of yelp as InuYasha fell with her. Her head came in contact with the floor and she winced in pain when InuYasha crushed down on her, his lips smashed against hers. Kagome's eyes flew open and let go of InuYasha's hair, hands moving to rest beside her head, palms facing up.
InuYasha took awhile to recover from the the fall. Realizing he was crushing Kagome, he pushed himself up and scooted back to the corner. Face hot as flames, InuYasha leveled a pointed glare at Kagome, who was still lying on the floor, shocked.
"What the fuck?" InuYasha bellowed. "Do don't that you idiot!"
That seemed to startle Kagome out of her reverie. She sat up and rubbed the back of her head, making a face at the bump that formed. "Do what? You were the one not paying attention!" she shot back, angry that he was making it her fault.
InuYasha's expression changed into one of concern as he watch Kagome rub her head furiously. "Are you hurt?" he asked gruffly.
"Well, duh! You fell on me, baka!"
He moved to her back and looked at her bump. Gently removing her hands, he rubbed her bump tenderly. Then to Kagome's shock, he lifted his fingers to his lips and back to her bump. Her heart swelled and her eyes filled up with tears at that one gesture.
"Wha---Don't cry, Kagome. I'm sorry it hurts, okay? "InuYasha panicked.
Kagome threw herself against his chest and wept. InuYasha wrapped his arms around her and patted her back awkwardly. He hummed, trying to soothe her as he rocked back and forth.
She was content to be held in his arms, even though he was comforting her for the wrong reason. 'At times like this.. I guess it'll never be Houjou,' Kagome mused as her sobbing reduced to hiccups. She lifted a hand to her lips where she could still feel InuYasha's lips and her smile widened. 'Never..'
