The next month and a half passed smoothly.

Sayuri tended to Kanna most of the time herself though Kagura also tended to her whenever Sayuri was training with Kohaku
or Kagome or simply enjoying some time on her own. She would eat before and after feeding Kanna each time. She was still
sleeping in the healer's quarters. She had said she would gladly sleep on a pallet in the nursery, but was argued against
by everyone else.
Kagome meanwhile was busy learning her duties as Lady of the West, training with Sayuri and still trying to fix up a room
for her soul twin. Most days the most she could manage on the room was exploring all the empty main family rooms. She found
three that she felt were suitable. It was here that Rin was able to help. She found Kagome looking one day and said, "The
bedroom without a balcony is nice. You could do it up in blue, gray and white."
Kagome considered this and at last it was decided.

That evening at supper, Sayuri said, "I want to take Kanna and Sango into the future. Sesshomaru, will you allow Kagome
to go this time?"
"No. If this trip goes well, the monk and slayer can start to come around. If this trip goes well, Kagome can go the next
time," answered Sesshomaru. He looked at his mate and asked, "Is this acceptable with you?"
Kagome smiled and nodded. Looking at Sayuri, she asked, "Will you take a list and letter for me?"
"Yes. Kagura, would you want to go?"
Kagura dropped her spoon into her plate. She looked at Sayuri with something akin to disbelief. After a minute, the wind
witch asked, "Are you serious? Why me? What about Sango? What about her husband?"
Sayuri raised a hand and gently said, "Kagura. Trust in my judgement. I want you to go. Now as to Sango and Miroku, they
are in my service. Yes, part of you going will be a test to them. I want to see your powers. I know from before that ye
are verra strong. I want to see how you have changed even as we see if Sango is still under Kikyou's influence."
Kagura looked away and then nodded.
Sayuri looked glad that she would go but she knew that Kagura was not completely happy. She would clear away that anxiety
before they embarked the next morn.
Kagura waited until Sayuri had kissed Kanna good night before she asked,"Do you think that everything will be okay?"
Sayuri inclined her head. "Let us go into the garden." She led Kagura to what was swiftly becoming called "Sayuri's
Bench." There she sat and had Kagura sit at her feet. Then she put her hand on the top of her back. She sat there,
holding her head in her lap. She said, "I do not know if everything will be okay. I do know that I want you to be with
me and to meet Kagome's family. They are very good-hearted people. I know it will take a little while for you to adjust
to being there. You may have trouble controlling your powers as it is different there. I will not let you be hurt. I want
you to be accepted by Sango and she by you. I also want her to be able be forgiven."
Kagura was silent a minute more and then stood. Looking into Sayuri's eyes, she said, "I trust you, Obahime. I will go
and gladly."
Sayuri nodded and stood also. She hugged the wind witch and then they both went to bed.
