~In Search Of~
"My lord, our sources tell me that the rebel forces are pushing closer and closer to the edges of the Western lands." The toad-like demon shifted nervously from foot to foot anticipating his master's anger. He watched as his master turned to him, his golden eyes glinting with irritation, an emotion the demon knew all to well.
Sesshomaru continued to stare out the window, his fists clenching and unclenching by his side, the only outward sign that he was seething with rage. `Damn that hanyou brother of mine.' He thought to himself. Ever since Inuyasha had started this rebellion against the demon lords, Sesshomaru had not enjoyed a moment's peace. How dare mere humans believe they stood a chance against overthrowing the demon lords that ruled them! His half brother only further disgusted him by leading the pathetic creatures. He growled in frustration and turned to the significantly smaller demon.
"Did you manage to locate the miko, Jaken?" He asked calmly. The demon looked down at the ground. "I'm sorry, master, but I have been unsuccessful in finding the miko. She seems to be in hiding and no one knows her whereabouts."
Sesshomaru sighed. This was just another problem for him to deal with personally. He knew that he had to find the miko and soon. She was the key in this fight with the rebels.
"Jaken, I am going to be away for a few days so I will leave you in charge of the castle." He started to walk from the room and stopped at the doorway.
"Keep an eye on the rebels and inform the other lords of the rebel's progress." He said. Jaken nodded eagerly. Sesshomaru was determined to crush his annoying hanyou brother once and for all.

"Inuyasha, are you alright?"
Inuyasha snapped out of his thoughts and looked up. Miroku was standing over him, a look of concern on his face.
"Keh." Inuyasha growled, rising slowly to his feet. Miroku continued to stare at his friend. Inuyasha waved a hand at him.
"Damnit, Miroku, I'm fine." He said, a hint of irritation creeping into his tone. Miroku looked up at the sky, the twinkling stars and peacefulness denying the restlessness that was apparent all around them.
"You're worried about what Sesshomaru will do once he finds out how close we are to the Western border." Miroku stated this more as a fact rather than a question. Inuyasha sighed and gave up trying to keep his best friend at bay. Inuyasha and Miroku had known each other since they were kids and the other always knew when something was bothering the other.
"Yeah." Inuyasha stated simply. Miroku nodded knowingly. He placed a hand on the hanyou's shoulder. "Whatever may come, you know that I will be by your side."
Inuyasha nodded his head. Miroku was a loyal friend, but he was afraid of what might happen to him when Sesshomaru did find out.
"Maybe you and the others should go into hiding." Inuyasha stated. Miroku looked at him in surprise. "Inuyasha, what are you saying?"
Inuyasha turned to Miroku. "I don't know what Sesshomaru will do once he finds out our forces have reached the Western border, but I know it won't be pretty. He'll pull out all the stops to keep the rebellion from reaching his lands." Inuyasha sighed. "I know I can hold my own against him, but you and the some of the others are human and I can't guarantee your safety."
Miroku's face hardened. "Me and the others have handled ourselves just fine so far, if you haven't noticed." Inuyasha's eyes flashed angrily. "The demons we've fought so far are nothing compared to what Sesshomaru's capable of. I know him, Miroku. He wants nothing more than to kill me and he'll go through every single one of you first just to hurt me."
Miroku studied Inuyasha closely. His body was shaking slightly with uncontrolled anger. Miroku knew of Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's long history of seething hatred. He had never personally met the feared youkai lord of the West, but he had heard stories, or for a better term, nightmares. Miroku admitted to himself that he wasn't eager to go into battle with Inuyasha's half brother, but he refused to leave his friend to face that battle alone.
"I understand your feelings, Inuyasha, but we've all decided to enter into this fight knowing the risks. We're all fighting for one thing and that is freedom from demon reign. You can't expect us to run and hide while you fight for all of us." Miroku explained, his voice pleading for Inuyasha to understand.
Inuyasha sighed in defeat. He knew it was a long shot asking Miroku to run and hide, but he had to take the chance. "Fine, you idiot." Miroku smiled, knowing Inuyasha didn't truly think that of him.
"Now that you've gotten that out of your system, what is our next move?" Miroku questioned. Inuyasha's face turned deadly serious. There was only thing they could do to even stand the slightest chance against Sesshomaru.
"We have to find the last remaining miko, the priestess Kikyo." Inuyasha said simply. She was their only hope in winning this battle that was rapidly turning into a war.
