InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Chronicles of Kail: Origins. ❯ The beginning ( Chapter 1 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Ok, so here's how it is. This is the beginning of the story of Kail, and when I say the beginning, I mean a true beginning. Half of you are reading this, wondering what the fuck I'm talking about. Kail is going to be my character that crosses dimensions into different animes, the first, and this one, is going to be Inuyasha. The next will be Rouroni Kenshin, after that, well I haven't made up my mind yet. They will all be separate stories, and take me a bit to write. Right now, I'm working on four different stories including the adventures of the warrior of dimensions, Kail, so keep looking for updates!
I don't own Inuyasha, but I do own Kail and Lynn, after all, they're my creations. Now, sorry for the long-ass intro! Let the story begin!

We come along on a Human-looking figure with fire-red long hair wearing a pitch black cloak and equally dark Hakama pants (If you've seen Rouroni Kenshin, it's the type Kenshin wears all the time, only black.) standing on a steep cliff, watching a group of people pass below, as an eagle might look at his prey.
“It's time to make my presence known.” He slowly rose, his eyes blazing a fiery red.

(Meanwhile below)

“HENTAI!!” Sango screamed as she smacked Miroku.
“I can't help myself.” The monk further joked.
“Miroku, a few more of those gropings and she'll hit you with something a lot bigger than her hand.” Inuyasha pointed at Sango's hand gripping her boomerang.
“It's not that! Look!” Kagome said as the figure dressed in black landed in front of them.
“Who are you and what do you want?!” Inuyasha snarled at the stranger.
“Who I am is none of your concern. One of you knows me anyway…Isn't that right Miroku?”
“What are you doing here Kail?! I saw you die 7 years ago!” Miroku said wide-eyed.
“You know him Miroku?” Sango asked.
“I more than know him. He's my brother. And he died 7 years ago, by his own will.” Miroku said.
“By my own will?! HA! That's funny.” Kail laughed. “I told you Miroku. I told you didn't I? I had been possessed…and now he's taken part of my control. I'm no longer just myself brother! I'm no longer just human!” Kail shouted.
“Please. You're insane Kail!” Miroku shouted back.
“That may be. But I come here with a request.” Kail said coldly.
“What's that?” Miroku asked, wondering what his deceased brother would ask of him. Kail always had too much pride to ask for help.
“Kill me.” He said without any form of an explanation.
“What?!” Miroku gasped at his brothers request.
“You heard me. I've never asked you for anything before, this is one thing you have to do.” Kail said, he sounded like he was pleading.
“But…why!? You said if you lived through the fall, you'd return to the family!”
“That's not the point! I'm…changing.”
“What do you mean changing?”
“I'm no longer human!” he eyes burned red. “Damn it! Not now!” he yelled as he fell to his knees.
“What's happening to you?” Miroku said as he neared his brother.
“Miroku…remember how I had a crush on a girl so many years ago? Remember how I said I'd do anything for her?”
“Do you mean Lynn?” he asked.
“Yes. The day before I fell, I saved her from a demon. It needed to possess somebody to live, and it would've struck her, had I not gotten in the way. That's how I became possessed.” Kail finally explained to his brother.
“So why now? Why did you find me for this?”
“Now because I just woke up. You because…You and your friends had the power to destroy Naraku. The curse has not past yet... Why else did you think your wind tunnel had not disappeared?! One of Naraku's demons resides within me! You must kill me to destroy the curse!” Suddenly a black ball of energy surrounded Kail.
“Kail!” Miroku said as he struck the orb with his staff, and nothing happened.
“Let me try.” Inuyasha said as he unsheathed the Tetsusaiga. “WINDSCAR!” the bolt of energy struck the black orb, still nothing happened.
“The hell is that!?” He gasped as the dust cleared.
The black orb began to vanish, leaving a new figure standing in front of them. It was Kail, but something about him was…different. His human arms had been turned into onyx gauntlets, his leggings were replaced with matching greaves.
“Hmph…that will put his struggle to an end for now.” The transformed Kail said, his voice was suddenly deeper, more like a demon's than a human's.
Suddenly, a dark orb came from his hand, it was a ball of dark energy.
“Ready to die, Brother?!” he shouted as the ball shot towards Miroku, which was barely deflected by his staff. “Good. You've trained!” he said as he charged toward Miroku, only to be beaten into the cliff by Inuyasha. “You don't take him on without us.” Inuyasha said. “You don't want to fight me Inuyasha.” Kail smiled. “How do you know my name?!” Inuyasha growled. “I know everything about you Inuyasha. As well as Kagome, Sango, and Miroku. Oh, I'm sorry you don't recognize me do you?” he laughed as he transformed into a child, then another, and repeated himself. Each of the forms had been seen at the villages they saw when they were on their quest to defeat Naraku. “Those kids…were all you?” Kagome asked, her reply was the demon's laughter.
“You stupid Hanyou.” Kail said as Inuyasha charged toward him, the Tetsusaiga's blade aiming for his chest. He merely grabbed the end of the blade, threw it into the wall, and grabbed Inuyasha by the throat, choking him as he raised him above the ground. An arrow suddenly struck his chest, causing him to drop Inuyasha. Kagome had not wielded her bow. “Who dare shoots me?!” the demon bellowed. “I do.” A female said as she slid down the wall he'd jumped off not a half an hour ago. “You!” the demon snarled. “Let Kail go!” she screamed as she fired arrow after arrow, each one hitting it's mark. “Lynn…” Miroku said. “Nice to see you again Miroku.” Lynn smiled, still aiming her bow at the demon. “Lynn!” Kail managed to gasp in the demon form. He pulled the arrows out of himself, his wounds quickly healing and transforming back to his human state. “Is it gone?” Lynn asked. “No…he's just unconscious.” Kail said regrettably. “Ok, I think it's time for you to tell us everything.” Sango said to Miroku and Kail. “Let's get back to the village.” Miroku said, helping his brother to his feet.

(Later, at the village)

“What do you mean, you're immortal?!” Miroku gasped at his brother's statement.
“Can you not tell? Do I not look the same as that night?” he asked.
“You look exactly the same…but I was only 13 then! I have changed a lot but you look the same!” Miroku said as he began to believe his brother.
“The demon within me will not allow me to age, or die.” He said solemnly.
“Then why did you ask us to kill you if you are unable to die?!” Sango nearly screamed.
“Because my brother was always smarter than me. He always found a way.” Kail said as a smile crept onto his face.
This sounded like the opposite of Miroku! Inuyasha and Sango suddenly burst out laughing.
Miroku remained silent.
“You're not serious…Are you?” Sango asked, still smiling.
“Yes. I'm very serious. He may not act it, but he is much smarter than any of you think.” He said, noticing the look on Miroku's face. “And he never told any of you about me either.”
That's when Inuyasha realized it. Miroku's past was shrouded in mystery, but only because he never told anyone, not even Sango.
“Miroku? Is what he's saying true?” Sango asked.
The monk remained silent, he had been hurt by her laughing at him. She had always thought of him as a moron, nothing but a lecherous monk.
“Forgive my brother for his ways Sango. He wasn't lying when he said it was the way he was brought up. Our father was nothing but a lecherous bastard.”
“Who fought with his very life to kill Naraku!” Miroku flared.
“And failed! He sought what little redemption he could get! Do you really believe it was worth it?! He knew he was going to die! He may as well of committed suicide!” Kail flared back. “It doesn't make up for what he did to us, for how we turned out!” Kail continued.
Miroku's fist where white with rage, but he knew if he hit him, it might awaken the demon.
“I'm glad to see you were able to do what he had failed. I'm proud of you brother. You are more of a man than he ever was. If you cannot see that, then you are blind.”
Miroku listened to his compliment and tried to make out what he was trying to say. “You have to kill me. I'm not sure if anyone else can.” Kail said as he lowered his head.
“Miroku…I'm sorry.” Sango said, she had realized why he'd gone quiet.
“I'm sorry. I need to be alone for a while. Until I come back, wear this.” Miroku said as he got up and tossed a sutra to his brother. “It will keep the demon at bay.”
“Miroku where are you going?” Kagome asked.
“Away for a little while.” Was all Miroku said.
By this time, Sango was nearing tears. `Why did I have to laugh at him? Why'd I have to hurt him?' she wondered to herself. `Why do I care so much?! Do I…love him?' her thoughts raced as she found the truth within her own mind. Tears began to run down her cheeks.
“Are you ok Sango?” Kagome said as she noticed the tears running down her cheeks.
“No, I'm not. I need to see Miroku.” Sango said as she stood up and followed him.
“They love each other very much.” Kail said as Sango ran off.
“They remind me of us.” Lynn smiled as she sat next to Kail.

(Near a creek about a quarter mile from the inn)

`Damn him…Nothing like this would've happened if it weren't for that bastard!' Miroku thought as he pounded his fists into the ground, releasing his rage.
“Miroku…” Sango said as she came close to him.
All the reaction he showed was a glare that pierced Sango's very soul.
“Miroku…I'm so sorry.” She said as she fell to her knees and hugged him.
“Sorry about what?” he said as more of an angry statement than a question.
She'd never seen him this mad.
“Everything…”she said as she began to dry on his shoulder.
Miroku remained silent, which to Sango, was both a good thing and a bad thing.
“Please talk to me Miroku.” Sango pleaded.
“About what? About how it feels to be betrayed by some of your closest friends? Or about how it is to see your brother kill himself in front of your eyes? To know to the girl of your dreams that to her you're nothing but a joke?” Miroku's eyes burned as he felt his tears stream down his face.
“You're not a joke to me Miroku.” Sango said as she wrapped her arms around him.
“Yes I am! To you I'm just some moronic lech of a monk. Every time that I've tried to get close to you, you've turned me away. I wish you knew how much I love you Sango! Then you might realize the pain I'm in! Everyone has wounds on the outside but those are shadows compared to the pain of the soul! You've felt it too! When Kohaku was slain in front of your eyes, you tasted the pain that I've been drowning in for years!” He growled. Sango began to cry, more for him than herself as she held him even tighter. “I can't apologize enough Miroku. I can't say much more than this…I love you.” She cried into his robe. Slowly, Miroku began to calm down. “Sango…please don't cry. I'm sorry…I shouldn't have yelled at you, please don't cry.” He said as he returned her grip finally. “I deserved it…You were right Miroku, about everything.” Her tears flowed faster. “Even if I was…It was wrong of me to bring back those memories.” He said as he brought her head into his chest, letting her cry all she wanted. Slowly, her crying became soft sobs. “I'm sorry Sango.” “Me too Miroku.” They both apologized as they stared into each other's eyes. Miroku decided to move first by planting a small kiss on her lips, wanting to see her reaction. She smiled and kissed him back, the kiss lasting longer every time they broke off for air. “I never thought of you very much…I'm so sorry Miroku.”
“I never gave you reason to. It's my fault for breaking the trust we had.” Miroku lowered his head. “I guess we're both sorry then.” Sango said quietly as she rested her head on his shoulder. “I'm afraid I have to apologize again Sango.” Miroku whispered.
“For what?” she said, expecting him to grope her again.
“I cannot stay with you.” He said, half crying.
“But….but why?!” Sango said, tears forming in her eyes.
“Because…I fear I will die trying to defeat my brother's demon. “ he said, holding her close to him.
“No you won't. We'll all be there fighting alongside you Miroku.” Sango smiled.
“Maybe…together we stand a chance.” Miroku said softly.
“A chance? Miroku we beat Naraku! We can beat this demon easily!”
“No, we can't. The Naraku we fought was not complete. Now that only one part exists, it will be the strongest of them all.” He explained.
“I may know a weak spot.” Miroku said.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean the tattoo on his back.”
“We've never seen his back!”
“But all of Naraku's minions bared the crest of the spider on their back. Am I wrong?”
“With the exception of Kagura and Kikyo, no. Of course, they were already alive before Naraku met them, and Naraku had loved Kikyo as Onigumo so he couldn't bear to put the mark there.” She agreed.
“Sango, can I ask you a question?”
“You just did, so one more won't hurt.” She half-laughed.
“Can you promise me something?”
“Anything Miroku.”
“If I die, I want you to go on and be happy. Can you promise me you'll do that?” he said quietly.
“I can't…I can't live without you Miroku!” she cried as she heard his request.
“You have to. I don't know how, or why, but I think I'm going to die tomorrow.” Miroku said grimly.
“You're not going to die Miroku! I won't let you!” she cried into his chest.
“Just…be prepared for the worst…ok?” He said as he wrapped his arms around her.
She remained silent.
“Miroku…I love you.” She said quietly into his ear as she wrapped he arms around, and at the same time pushing him into the ground.
“I love you too Sango.” He said as he held her close, and slowly they fell into a peaceful sleep.

(Back at the inn)

“Do you think we should go look for them?” a worried Kagome asked.
“No, they're resting now.” Inuyasha said as Kagome rested her head on his shoulder.
“How can you tell?”
“I hear everything.” He smiled.
“What if I do this?” she laughed as she reached up and pet his ears.
“Kagome…” Inuyasha said as he relaxed.
“Yea, Inuyasha?” she smiled.
“You're a real mystery you know that?” he said.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean…oh forget it…” he shook his head. She held her grip on his ears.
“What did you mean Inuyasha?” she said, with a worried look on her face.
“I mean, we get into fights all the time, but yet you still like me…Why is that?” he was confused.
“I guess…well…I don't know really.” She smiled and continued to rub his ears.
Inuyasha did his best to build up his courage.
“Kagome?”
“Yea, Inuyasha?” she was still smiling.
“I love you.”
“What?” Kagome's eye grew wider.
“I love you, Kagome.” He spoke softly.
“Inuyasha…” she said as she hugged him tightly.
“Do you know how long I've waited for you to say that?” she continued.
“About as long as I've been trying to?” he smirked as he brought his lips to hers.
“I love you too Inuyasha.” She laughed as they broke off the kiss because they needed air.
Inuyasha fumbled with something in his pocket, but slowly he pulled out a box.
“What's that Inuyasha?” Kagome asked.
“Something for you. I planned to give it to you no matter what your reaction was when I told you. You don't know how happy it makes me that it was this reaction.” Inuyasha smiled as he gave her the box and watch her open it. Inside was a golden necklace that had the Shikon Jewel hanging from the center.
“That is the reason I wanted to collect the shards.” Inuyasha smiled.
“Inuyasha…It's lovely!” she nearly screamed as she kissed him again.
“I'm glad you like it.” Inuyasha nuzzled his head below hers, kissing her neck.
Slowly, Kagome brought her head down, and kissed him passionately.
Inuyasha and Kagome slowly did the same thing as Sango and Miroku as they fell asleep in each other's arms.

(Meanwhile, on a nearby cliff)

“Damn you demon. You make me turn my brother on me to defeat you.” Kail spoke to the demon within.
“You're lucky this sutra is on, otherwise I would tear them all to shreds while they sleep and revel in their screams.” The demon spoke back.
“Go away demon!” Lynn said as she placed her hands on his chest, putting the demon to sleep with her miko powers.
“Lynn…Thank you.” Kail said, realizing he had lost control for a moment.
“You don't have to thank me. You know that Kail.” Lynn said softly.
“And you know I'll always say it anyways.” Kail smiled.
They just stared at each other, his human form's eyes were emerald green, and you could get lost in the beautiful ocean that was her blue eyes.
Kail closed the gap between them as he brought his lips to hers.
Lynn just enjoyed his company, holding him tightly.
“I don't wanna let you go Kail.” Lynn sobbed softly.
“Me neither Lynn…but you know I have to go once they are ready.” He stared down at her.
“Yes…” she nodded silently, a tear streaming down her face.
“Don't cry for me. No one should cry for me.” Kail said, wiping away her tear.
“Don't say that. Everyone has someone to cry for them.” Lynn said, holding him tighter.
“I'm sorry Lynn…for some reason, my soul has become colder.” He said, lowering his head.
“Can we got some sleep? I want to be able to control him until I must unleash him.” Kail said, sounding a bit depressed.
“Let's…but I still wan to be with you.” She held him tight against her.
Kail laid her on the bed and laid down next to her, both nodding off .

(The next morning)

Kail had awoken early. As his black cloak flowed around him, he had decided to watch the sunrise.
“The time is nearing.” He said softly to himself, preparing to die.
“So you're not the only one awake now.” Miroku's voice said as he approached the cliff where his brother was standing.
“Can't very well miss my final sunrise, can I?” he smiled.
“Your…final sunrise?” Miroku asked.
“Yes…A sad effect of the demon possessing me. Any other host would choose for him to leave, he does after 5 years. But with me…I chose to tie him to my soul, so I would drag him to the very gates of hell if I could.” He said to his brother.
“You chose to keep him in your soul? But why?!” he asked, bewildered.
“Because If I didn't, he'd take possession of someone else, and we'd lose all chance of getting rid of this curse.”
“You're truly brave. I'm glad I can call you my brother.” Miroku said.
By now, the sun had become visible on the horizon, lighting the inn and awakening Inuyasha, Sango and Kagome from their slumber.
“It's almost time. I won't hold him back this time Miroku!” Kail said as he began to be enveloped in a dark light.
“Then I shall not either!” Miroku agreed, his staff glowing mysteriously.
“Get ready everyone! I wish you good luck defeating me!” Kail said as a new transformation began.

The gauntlets and greaves were the only thing that remained the same.
A new armor began to form on his chest, It was as black as his cloak and spikes shot out of the shoulder plates. The spikes continued down the ridges of his back, through his arms and ended with his fists. His entire body was consumed in the armor forged in Hell.
His eyes than glowed a fiery red as a dark helmet with two horns emerging from the top appeared from nowhere.

As the transformation finally ended, the creature spoke.
“My name in Tanguko the black knight! Prepared to be destroyed by the might that is the Black Hades armor!” he shouted in a new, pure demonic voice.
“He's a full blooded demon now.” Inuyasha snarled.
Two bows, Sango's boomerang as well as Inuyasha's blade were readied to unleash on the demon when Miroku stepped in front of them
“This is my fight. Allow me to fight until I die.” Miroku said. It sounded more like a command that a request.
“But Miroku—“ Inuyasha started.
“I'm not risking the lives of my friends! I'm sorry everyone, but I have to do this!” Miroku interrupted. Sango was about to rush up to him, but Inuyasha held her back.
“What are you doing Inuyasha?! We have to help him!” she shouted.
“I for one know what he means. We all have battles that we must fight on our own sometimes, win or lose, no matter the consequences. This is Miroku's.” Inuyasha said, nodding to Miroku.
“Thank you, Inuyasha. It was an honor fighting alongside you.” Miroku smiled.
“You're not dead yet so don't talk like you are, stupid monk!” Inuyasha smirked, getting a laugh out of Miroku.
“Enough! Will one or all of you fight me?! It makes no difference you will all die anyway!” the demon roared.
“Tanguko! You are my opponent and mine alone! You will die here!” Miroku said as he slammed his staff into the ground, immediately impaling it.
“What are you doing Miroku?” The demon laughed.
“Ending this. Once and for all!” Miroku said as he began to unwrap the cloth on his left hand.
“Ha! And kill yourself in the process?!” he laughed.
“If that's what it takes!” he shouted as he aimed the wind tunnel at him.
“Then you shall die like your father!” he screamed, not seeming to budge.
“Ah…” Miroku winced as he felt his hand tear, it had begun to bleed.
Slowly, the demon began to lose footing.
“I will not lose!” Miroku said as he walked closer to the demon, his hand dripping blood.
“This cannot be!” the demon said as his feet finally gave way.
Unfortunately, it had been too late for Miroku. He backed off and held on to his staff, praying not to be sucked into the tunnel himself.
The demon had fallen into the tunnel, yet it did not stop.
Suddenly, Sango raced towards him, ripping a cloth from herself and wrapping it around his tunnel.
The wind slowly died down.
“Sango…Thank you.”
“It's…not a problem Miroku.” She said as she wrapped her arms around him.
“Excuse me.” Miroku said to the inn-owner.
“Yes sir?” he answered.
“Can we have a headstone placed on this cliff?” he pleaded.
“Yes sir. Would you like to engrave the name and message yourself.
“Yes please.” He nodded.
“Congratulations Miroku. Even I have to say a job well done.” Inuyasha said.
“Thanks Inuyasha.” Miroku said, surprised that he'd gotten a compliment out of him.
“I know it's not something I do, but you really deserve it.” He smiled.
As they headstone was brought, Miroku engrave the message and the name of who it was meant for.
The grave's message was this:

Here lies Kail Mikai

He was a caring brother, a devoted lover, and a true friend.
He put all above himself.
For now until the end of time
He shall be regarded a legend.
His love, bravery, and honor exceeded all.

Little did they know, his journey only began here. His soul now wandered for quite a while, drifting between dimensions, but soon, it found a body.

Preview of Story 2: Chronicles of Kail: A Dark New Day
(Note: This is about an eight of what the chapter will be, so you can read along, or wait for the next chapter)

“You don't want to fight me.” A man that looked about 19 dressed in black said to a group of men surrounding him.

“You're right! So just hand over your cash before you get hurt!” The bandit said, laughing.

2 Men, a teenager, and a Woman suddenly came upon them.

“Sano, get Miss Kaoru and Yahiko to safety.” One of them said.

“But Kenshin, What about you?” the man, apparently Sano, said.

“I'm going to help him.” He smiled.

“I don't need your help!” The man in black said.

“What?” was all the bandit could say, he was enraged.

“Stand back and watch. My name is Kail by the way, what's yours?” he smiled.

Kenshin just watched on as the group of 5 bandits jumped at him.

Only Kenshin's eyes could see what happened next. Kail had quickly thrown the first man into another as he used a third to kick the other two, then quickly backhanded the third man, leaving all of the bandits gasping for air or unconscious.

“Where did you learn to fight like that? And how old are you anyways?” Kenshin asked, amazed by the young man.

“I learned to fight when I was young. I taught myself everything I know. I'm 19 years old.” Kail replied.

“You fight very well for your age, but did you need to kill them?” Kenshin asked, a bit angered by Kail's style of fighting.

“I had to kill one of them, had I now he would have recovered and gotten me before I got him.” He responded in a slightly more serious tone.

That's when Kenshin replayed the attack in my mind, the only way the third man would now have stabbed him was if he'd been back-handed as he was, he understood and lightened his voice.

“So I see…” he said softly.

“You're a swordsman of quite remarkable power, battousai.” Kail smirked.

“How do you know who I am? If you're looking for a fight I must sadly decline. I do not kill anymore.” Kenshin said, a bit surprised, and a bit angry with the boy.

“I know who you are because of your sword. The sheath is backwards, so the blade is too. You cannot kill with it, and I don't want to fight you, just your permission to say I'm honored to meet a person such as yourself.” He said, extending his hand.

“You're honored to meet a man who slayed hundreds?!” he asked angrily.

“No. I'm honored to meet a man who is trying to atone for what he's done. May I ask your name?” He said respectfully, surprising the swordsman.

“You're an odd one that you are. My name is Kenshin, Kenshin Hiymora. What is yours? I know your first name is Kail.” He said, accepting his handshake.

“Kail Makai.” He replied with a smile.
