The petite girl walked briskly through the office, not smiling to her colleagues as they smiled at her. She was determined to get to her destination and nothing would prevent her from doing so.
She exited the office building, rush hour traffic was murder so she opted to walk. Quickly she moved, down the road, across the street, and in to the elaborate building. This particular business was carpentry. She pulled back her midnight hair, keeping her bangs away from her eyes, idly deciding she needed a hair cut, and walked up to the front desk, plastering a fake smile.
"Hi." she greeted.
"Hello, and welcome to PatCo. What can I do for you?" the lady at the desk asked.
"I have an appointment, to see Chris, the project manager."
"Name please?" the lady continued smiling.
"Hiyado, Kikyou."
"One moment please." Kikyou ignored this and looked around the entry room. It was cute, there were sofas by the picture windows, and stairs directly to her right, while doors led to who knew what on her left.
"Ms. Hiyado, Mr. Jerad will see you now."
"Thank you." Kikyou walked up the stairs and into Chris's office. She knew which one it was, and didn't bother knocking.
"Hello Chris." she smiled a true, and rare, smile.
"Kikyou. Pleasure as always. What can I do for you?" Chris was sitting in a high-backed office chair, looking over some documents.
"It seems one of your boys has forgotten that the roof leaked. They didn't seem to fix it last time they were there. I'm on my lunch break now, and I would like to come home to a fixed house." Kikyou kept her cheery demeanor, but her tone was not one to trifle with.
"Ahh, yes Kikyou. The new guy was suppose to be on that, only he had another job apparently. So sorry about that. He's an intern. I will make sure he gets over there right away for you Kikyou. As one of our valued customers I would hate for you to be disappointed."
"Ha, ha, Chris. You would only hate to loose my money. You care nothing for me. Let's not be liars now." Kikyou stood up and straightened her skirt. "I expect that to be fixed tonight. I get home at six thirty. Good day Christof."
"Pleasure as always Kikyou."

Kikyou Hiyado arrived home at six thirty two that night. She placed her keys on the key rack beside the door, took off her shoes and coat, delicately placing them in the hall closet. She walked into the kitchen and looked up at the ceiling. The whole in the ceiling very apparent. Kikyou sighed heavily and went to the phone to call Chris.
"Hello Ma'am." Kikyou screamed slightly as she jumped back in fright.
"Whatever you want for ransom, you'll get it. I have a large boyfriend, and five brothers." Kikyou said, holding the phone out like a baseball bat.
"Calm down Ms. Hiyado, I'm here to fix the roof. See, your trouble spot was up there," he pointed up to the spot in the roof. "Then, when I fixed that, I went to get down and fell through. Rather painful actually. So, I started patching from the inside, just to be safe. Sorry, but it's going to take a bit of time. I'm here by myself as you can see."
"What is your name?" Kikyou asked, putting down the phone.
"Inuyasha. Why?" the boy looked curiously at the girl.
"I just want to make sure Chris gives you your overtime. You're much too cute to be getting ripped off." Kikyou smirked as she went to the refrigerator, pulling out a box of orange juice. "Care for a glass?" she asked.
Inuyasha was still blushing slightly at the fact that he had been called cute, he smiled and nodded. "Sure."
"So Inuyasha, how do you like carpentry?"
"It has it's good qualities and it's bad. Mostly I like the summer work. Thank you." he said as she handed him a glass. "It's nice to work out in the sun."
"That must be nice. Getting to work on your tan all day long. I can't imagine spending more than thirty seconds in the sun. I'm in an office all day long, and don't get home until, well six thirty usually, every night. It must be so nice."
"I like it."
The pair sat in a semi-comfortable silence for some time. Inuyasha finished off his orange juice, putting the cup in the sink. "Well, I'm not getting paid to drink orange juice with a cute woman. I should get back to work." he said casually as he looked up at the ceiling, continuing his work.
"I do believe Mr. Inuyasha, that was a compliment." Kikyou stood up. "You wouldn't be flirting with me? Would you?" Kikyou stood beside Inuyasha, dangerously close.
"Not if you don't want me to Miss." Inuyasha said, trying not to look at Kikyou.
"Why wouldn't I want you to?"

Kikyou sat in a dimly lit restaurant, twirling her hair about her finger. She was positive she had told him seven thirty, not eight. She began worrying her bottom lip just before she saw him walk in. She smiled and waved casually at him. He was holding a single long stem rose. Her heart fluttered.
"You were ten minutes late." She commented. "I was about to send out a search party."
"Sorry. Traffic was murder." he kissed her cheek and sat down. "For you my dear." he said, placing the rose on the table.
Kikyou picked it up, mindful of the thorns, and inhaled deeply. "It's lovely Inuyasha." she smiled, placing the rose back on the table.
"Kikyou," Inuyasha began, "We've been together for nearly a year," he seemed hesitant to continue. "I know it's not a very trustful phrase anymore. But, I love you Kikyou."
Kikyou seemed beside herself. She clasped her hands together in front of her, as though covering her heart. "I love you too Inuyasha!"

Five long years. Five long years of fucking and fighting. Nothing could have made them more miserable. Or more happy. Inuyasha woke up early. He had to paint the Ruants house today. It was suppose to be a job for four people, but he was by himself, as usual. He also had to report to his boss and make sure that the new complex downtown didn't need his help for a few days. Life was busy for Inuyasha, and that was how he liked it lately. He hadn't realized it before, but lately he was noticing what a control freak Kikyou was. He needed to get out. It wasn't as easy as all that though. As much as he kept saying he wanted to get out of the relationship, he really hated to be alone. Kikyou was the only girl in years who had given him a second glance. Maybe he would settle for less, rather than looking for more. Either way, he had to get to work now.
He was dressed in a few minutes, and hurried out of the room. The sooner he left, the less chance she'd notice him missing and wake up. He had no guilt about leaving hurriedly every morning, only to return casually late every night. He doubted Kikyou cared either.

“Inuyasha!” Kikyou whined. “How come we never go out anymore?”
Inuyasha had heard the complaint many times from the girl. ‘The truth is, I can’t stand you anymore’. Inuyasha wanted to say this. He just couldn’t. “I don’t know Kik. Where do you want to go?”
“Anywhere! Lets go dancing!” She suggested.
“I don’t dance.” Inuyasha said stubbornly.
“Inuyasha.” Her voice took on that whine again.
“God Kikyou! I can’t take this anymore.” He said, looking as though he would pull his hair out.
“Why haven’t you proposed yet?” Kikyou said suddenly.
“What?”
“It’s been five years!”
“I don’t want to get married.” Inuyasha said hurriedly.
“To me or in general?” Kikyou asked.
Inuyasha stayed quiet. The fact was, he could see himself in a suburb house, kids running around. He just didn’t see Kikyou as the wife.
“I see.” Kikyou said after a few minutes. “Then you can pack up your shit and go.”
Inuyasha stood up. He packed what little belongings he had, and smiled as he did it. “Bye Kik.” He said as he started to walk out the door.
“You’ll pay for this Inuyasha.” She said.
“I’m sure I will.” He answered idly.
