Prologue
Dark haired beauty
Kagome gathered her kimono, sighing inwardly, Inu-Yasha would more than likely be angry with her. A thrashing or two would be the punishment. That was the life of a slave; it was simple and hard all at the same time. But Inu-Yasha was not a bad owner just harsh. His wife was worse.
She gave a shudder at the thought of inu-Yasha’s wife, Kikyou. The hanyou cared less; his wife on the other hand noticed any thing that was erroneous. And it so happened that Kagome was Kikyou’s favorite subject to beat. No matter how hard the young girl worked, nothing was good enough.
But in this world what could a young female slave do but obey her owners every desired need. Kagome sighed again shaking her head, her flowing black hair tumbling down her back in waves. She was letting her head wander again, that would get her in more trouble.
With a rush Kagome went home, her eyes lowered every time some one passed, her face turned emotionless as Inu-Yasha had taught her to when other beings passed her. Her steps echoed around the wooded area were her owner’s house was, no more than a few seconds until she reached the cottage. No more than a few seconds till Kikyou took the whip to her back.
Sure enough the one to greet her was Kikyou, with the long thin tree branch in her hand, her cold brown eyes glaring at Kagome as she walked up, head bowed.
“Where were you, surely not in the meadows were I told you time after time not to go. Or were you in the village whore house acting yourself?” Kikyou spat venomously.
Kagome did not react to the comment, could not defend her honor or pride, that she was no whore. But the thought made her angry and the polite manner she was to take around her owner was quickly replaced by an equally angry glare back to Kikyou.
“I was no where near the village, the family of bird eggs hatched today and I wanted to see it, the meadows are not far from here.” Kagome explained, upset.
“Oh, well pardon me I didn’t know that, I’ll send Inu after them, they would make a good dinner.” Kikyou stated smugly.
“No, please don’t do that, I was wrong.”
With that done Kagome was sent into the kitchen with severe thrashing done to her back, and her eyes watering.
‘Stupid Kagome, why did you speak back to her, you know she wouldn’t under stand, and if she does tell Inu-Yasha
Those birds will be long gone. Oh stupid Kagome, stupid.’

Sesshoumaru rubbed his clawed hand over his temples; his head ache was hurting even worse. The council of the four grand lands was holding a meeting to discuss the disturbances. This was no concern of his, no one even thought about entering his lands, any one smart that is. If the other Lords couldn’t keep pesky intruders from their lands than their weak and not worthy of their title.
The western lord growled lowly, causing Jaken to jump. If this went on any longer he, Sesshoumaru, would solve the problem with simply killing them all, they would have no more land to protect then. With another, louder, growl Sesshoumaru’s point was put across the talking lords. And the meeting was put off till later days, or when Lord Sesshoumaru was in a better mood.
Jaken cackled as he and Sesshoumaru floated on the transparent cloud (( What is that thing anyway)) the view showed a human village, and the forest that surrounded it. The two demons found it humorous that any creature so weak could survive. Until their stench filled the demons noses, which caused the humor to dissolve into disgust.
“Why do humans smell so wretched. Do they not bath as we do.” Jaken complained, holding his nose.
Sesshoumaru silently agreed to this, humans were useless. Like dirt in your eye, there was too many of them to kill. They just reproduce, faster and faster. Pathetic things they were. The Lord narrowed his golden eyes as his sensitive ears picked up odd sounds coming from the forest below.
Sesshoumaru lowered the mist cloud to the clearing and followed the sound curiously.

Kagome sat on the moss ridden stump, her hands busy playing the odd instrument, her voice echoing around the forest.
(((a/n: Okay if any of you have played Arc The Lad the weird chick with the funky hair plays it, if you haven’t than it looks like a small bow/harp with a light in the middle and a cool looking lady bent backwards holding a crystal on the top end.))
In the darkness of night a cry echoes.
In the light of day a laugh dances.
Save the life for death, in hopes of being saved.
Trust ones self, but no one else.
Believe ones lies, for no one will.

Walk into the night.
Holding on to nothing but your fear.
Long are the whispers I sing.
Sesshoumaru crouched in the tree in a trance, listening to the beautiful song. The woman who sang it lay in the light of the moon, her long black hair rippled down her back and puddled around her sitting form. Covering her torn and tattered kimono. It would have been perfect if Jaken hadn’t tumbled into the area, scaring the young female.

Kagome moved away from the toad demon. He had just appeared out of no where.
“Who are you, pathetic human, and what are you doing?” Jaken barked at her.
Kagome opened her mouth to answer but a bone chilling voice stopped her, not to mention the deadly beautiful face of Lord Sesshoumaru of the western lands.
