“Mommy, mommy, mommy!” Kagome groaned as her four year old daughter pounced on her bed, “Mommy wake up, you said I can go to daycare today!”
“Honey,” Kagome said groggily looking at her alarm clock, “It's six in the morning. Daycare isn't until ten.”
“But I wanna go now,” The little girl whined. Kagome sighed and sat up, looking at her daughter. Her big chocolate eyes were shining with tears. She knew that the waterworks would soon be released if she didn't do something fast.
“I know sweetie,” Kagome said softly, pulling the girl into her arms, “But if we go now we'd be locked out. Nami would be sound asleep.”
“Okay,” She sniffed, “Can we have breakfast now?” Kagome. She put the little girl on the floor and got up off her bed. The two slowly made their way downstairs to the kitchen, careful not to disturb the rest of household.
Kagome had her daughter, Hitomi, when she was seventeen, just barely out of high school. She didn't know how she was going to make it, traveling five hundred years in the past looking for the shards of the Shikon shards with Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango, and Shippou. They had been searching for the shards for about two years now and almost completed it. That was until Kagome found out she was pregnant and sealed the well the connected the two worlds.
Sealing the well was the hardest thing Kagome ever had to do. She couldn't bear the thought of never seeing her friends -especially Inuyasha- again. But she had to do it, what would her friends think when Kagome told them she was pregnant.
To make things worse, the father of Hitomi disappeared shortly after Kagome told him she was pregnant with his child. He said that he'd help her get through it, then the next day when Kagome went over to his house it was empty and he was gone. The only people she could really rely on now were Mrs. Higarashi, Souta, and Gramps.
“Mommy?” Hitomi said pulling on Kagome's nightgown, “What's wrong?”
“Huh?” She said, snapping out of her daze, “Sorry, Hitomi, what did you say?”
“Can we have cookies for breakfast?” Hitomi stared up at her mother with wide eyes, putting on the `puppy dog' face.
“Sorry honey,” Kagome said laughing, “How about some pancakes instead?”
“Fine,” She said pouting.
Kagome grinned and set to work. She grabbed the pancake mix from the bottom cabinet and gathered all the ingredients and supplies needed. As she was mixing the batter, Hitomi started to talk excitedly about the things she was going to do at daycare that day.
“I hope Ami is going to be there today,” She said hopping around the kitchen, “Me and her are the bestest friends. We're going to be friends `til we're really old, like gramps!” Kagome laughed, pouring the batter into a frying pan.
“I'm sure Ami will be there, Hitomi,” She said, “And if not, you can invite her over to play sometime,”
“Really, mommy?” Hitomi said, “Thank you!”
“You're welcome,” Kagome sat down at the kitchen table yawning, “How can you manage to wake up so early?” She asked.
“I unno,” Hitomi replied, “Just do,”

“Come on mommy, let's go!” Hitomi said impatiently, “We're going to be late for daycare!”
“Don't worry,” Kagome said stepping out of the house, “If we leave now we'll be right on time,” She grabbed Hitomi's hand and started walking down the steps to their little car. She opened the car door for Hitomi and buckled her in.
Kagome gasped as an old warm feeling washed over her. She turned on her heel and looked up at the shrine. She could have sworn she sensed a fragment of the Shikon jewel.
“Mommy?” Hitomi asked, “You okay?”
“Yes, I'm fine,” Kagome said, turning to her daughter and smiling cheerfully, “Come on, let's get you to daycare,” Hitomi cheered as Kagome got into the car. I'll go check out that jewel shard I sensed when I return, She thought, driving down the street.
