It was after they had defeated Naraku. Naraku was dead, Kagura was Free, and Kanna was given a soul and now lived in a village with a family who adopted her and she began a new life, growing up the way a child should. It had taken Kagome, Kikyo, Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru, Miroku, Koga, and Sango to defeat him. The Shikon jewel was now complete and back inside Kagome's body and Miroku’s wind tunnel was gone. But victory didn’t come without a price. The well was destroyed, Kikyo died again, as did Sango’s brother Kohoku. Sango was heartbroken but knew if her brother had survived he would have lived his life in guilt and regret from killing their father and the others, so she was happy he wouldn't have to go through that but missed him anyway. Inuyasha, Kirara, and Miroku were all badly injured because of Naraku.
It was a month later and Kirara and Inuyasha were completely recovered thanks to there demonic healing. Miroku was almost recovered but still had a ways to go, however he could walk around without to terribly much difficulty. Sango had cried some when she burried her brother in the demon slayers village and was glad he didn’t have to suffer any more. Inuyasha had originally been a little upset over Kikyo dying but realized he had more feelings for Kagome than he had ever had for Kikyo.
Kagome got up from where she was sitting and walked out of Kaede’s hut to where the well used to be. The sun was starting to set and created a beautiful mirror of pink and orange across the sky of blue. She neared where the well used to be, all it was now was a mound of what looked like freshly piled dirt. How ironic it was that Kagome had been pulled into the past for the jewel. She shattered the jewel and so she needed to put it back together, it was only right. But as she got closer to destroying the evil and fixing the jewel the more she lost. Kagome walked up to where the edge of the well should have been and sank down to her knees. “Oh I miss them so much. I wish I could here grampa talk of religion, watch Souta play video games, and hug mama again.”
“Hey wench, what you doing?” said Inuyasha startling Kagome, who jumped at the sound of him right behind her.
“O! Inuyasha. I was just thinking about how much I miss my family and that I wish Naraku had never found out my secret and destroyed the well.” Said Kagome as silent tears trailed there way down her cheeks.She wondered how Inuyasha could have snuck up on her like that, since she was a miko she could usually sence his demonic aura. 'It must be my emotions interfearing with my ability to sence things' she thought. Although Kagome could normaly sence jewel shards, now that Naraku was destroyed and the Jewel was back inside her, her ability changed a little. Now she was able to sence when someone, anyone, was coming though she couldn't sence who she could only tell if they were human or demon.
Even though she was facing away from him he could smell the salt of her tears. He always hated it when she cried. “Please stop crying I mean its not that bad here is it. I thought you liked being with Sango, Miroku, and Shippo.”
“No no Inuyasha I do I love being with Sango, Miroku, and Shippo, and Kirara. I also love being here with you. I just miss my family too. At least I wish I had the option to go and see them, but I can't thanks to Naraku” Kagome sighed and brushed her tears away before she turned to face Inuyasha. “So what were you doing out here anyway.”
“Feh. I came to make sure you weren’t getting into trouble AGAIN." he emphasized "It seems that’s exactly what happens every time you go anywhere by your self.”
“Oh, is that so?” said Kagome calmly. “Well I’m terribly sorry for being such a bother” her anger and voice starting to rise.
Inuyasha turned around slowly so his back was to her and said, “You should be sorry, or at least learn to take care of yourself so I don’t have to” he snapped 'I don't mean that. I love looking after Kagome and being near her' he thought.
“Inuyasha.”
“What?”
“SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT…”
Sango and Miroku were walking through Inuyasha forest along the main path.
“Isn’t the sunset beautiful,” Sango exclaimed looking along the horizon. The sunset lit up her features beautifuly. She looked like an angle.
“It is Sango-chan. Do you know where Inuyasha went? He left just before us.” 'She looks so beautiful, like a godess.' Miroku thought.
“I think he went to find Kagome. She left the hut pretty suddenly.” Sango said, “If you know what’s good for you monk, then stop right there.” She knew where that ex-monk's hand was headed.
'Darn almost, I cant help it she has such a beautiful rear.' Miroku stopped before his hand went any further all the while silently pouting.
Sango could see him pouting out of the corner of her eye 'It's moments like this that I love him for.' she thought though she had never admitted to Miroku that she liked him. The only one who knew about Sango's feelings for Miroku was Kagome, who was sworn to keeping it a secret.
Both Miroku and Sango jumped when they heard a scream in the distance. “SIT SIT SIT SIT.”
“Was that Kagome?” Sango asked.
“Sounds like. And I have a pretty good idea of where Inuyasha is too.” Miroku laughed.
“Do you think we should go help Inuyasha out?”
Miroku sighed “I think we better.”
“I’m coming too.”
“Shippo. Kirara. Where did you come----Have you been following us?” Sango demanded.
“ Yes they have. Ever since we left Kaede’s hut.” Miroku explained, “I think we better go help Inuyasha now!” The others nodded in agreement.
As they entered the clearing they saw a fuming Kagome Standing near Inuyasha who was in a crater sized hole.
“What was that for?” Inuyasha yelled.
“SIT” Kagome screamed.
“Kagome, don’t bother with him he’s not worth it right now. Lets go back to the hut.” Sango pleaded with her friend.
“Yea go back to the hut.” Inuyasha said.
“Inuyasha I don’t think that’s helping the situation at all.” Miroku sighed and shock his head while Kagome glared daggers at Inuyasha.
“ I never wana grow up.” Sighed Shippo.
Just as Kagome was about to retort to Inuyasha’s comment Kirara started to growl.
“What is it Kirara?” asked Sango.
“ there are demons coming. And one smells like Inuyasha’s brother.” Squeaked Shippo while shaking.
“What?!” said Kagome.
“why cant you sense them Inuyasha?” asked Shippo
“That’s right." Said Miroku realizing something."tonight is the new moon.”
Everyone gasped remembering that tonight was the night that Inuyasha became human.
“Sesshoumaru.” Inuyasha growled.
