Chapter 19: Lord of all
They say time goes faster when one is happy and
I must say that I am beginning to agree with this. It has been two
months since Inu Yasha and I coupled during his heat and already
you can see the signs upon him that he is soon to be a giver of
life. He has grown slightly plumper around his face and the belly.
His toned body is starting to soften and his hips have gained a
more curvaceous shape. He almost glows whether from happiness or
because he is expecting though my mother says everyone who bears
young glows whether or not they be human, demon or hanyou. She said
it is an inner happiness and even when she herself carried and
spent most of her days heaving up her innards and felt like the
scum at the bottom of lakes, everyone swore she was the most
beautiful being ever beheld.
Luckily Yasha has not had such horrible
ailments. His biggest complaint is the same as our sons; he tires
quickly and naps often. He seems to sleep longer and even when he's
awake he finds himself nodding off in mid-conversation.
Though it is not him I worry
about…
It has come to my attention that Rin is not
herself. It has been weeks since I have last seen her with
Hagashouri and the few times they have been in the same room I have
watched her look at him with sad watery eyes while he avoids her
altogether. I was witnessing such a
thing now as we all sat around the large table dining on our
supper. Rin seemed to have no appetite and merely moved the items
on her plate around while my younger brother took a bite every so
often avoiding everyone's eyes and conversations.
I felt Inu Yasha's hand gently squeeze mine as
he leaned in pretending to whisper sweet nothings in my ear but
what he whispered was, “I shall talk to Rin later tonight and
find out what has happened”.
He moved from my ear and pecked me on the
cheek smiling as he did so before
returning to his meal.
As the meal ended and everyone began to go
their separate ways Inu Yasha smiled brightly, “Would you be
a dear and see that the boys are bathed before bed. I have a need
for fresh air.”
“I will meet you upstairs,” I said
as I gathered our messy sons to my side and as I began to lead them
towards the bathing area I heard Inu Yasha say, “Rin would
you accompany me. It's too beautiful a night to walk
alone.”
“Of course Lord Inu Yasha,” was her
surprised reply.
I had taken the boys to be bathed which is
always an adventure in itself though the two year olds
who were almost three they worked
hard to gain my approval as they watched me bathe and tried to copy
what I did. I helped when needed and
allowed them to be as independent as they could be.
I gave them towels and watched as the dried
themselves stepping in to help dry their hair and behind their ears
and then I helped each of them into their yukatas and brushed their
hair out. The two of them were already sporting tiny
ponytails.
After we were dressed and ready we headed to
our chambers. I was met by Yasha who stood at the top of the stairs
with a soft smile as he watched me walk up. He leaned in and
gave me a soft kiss. We walked together into the
boys' room and made
sure that they were tucked in, Yasha giving each boy and kiss on
his now clean forehead and wished them
pleasant dreams.
We made it to
our to our room right next to theirs and as we
entered he took my hand and squeezed it tightly. I looked up into
his face and saw the sadness there. He
pulled me over to our bed and sat down bringing me to
kneel at his knees.
“You must listen to what I have to say
and promise me that you will not
do anything
rash.”
I felt my eyes widen and my hands were gripped
tightly in his as he stared into my eyes more intensely,
“Promise”, he hissed softly but sternly.
I sighed and looked into his eyes, “I
will try my hardest but if you are making me promise I am sure I
will not like what you are about to tell me.”
He closed his eyes and took a deep
breath, “Rin is in the motherly
way.”
I stared at him, “The motherly
way?”
“Rin and I are both carrying,” he
said with a small smile.
I couldn't imagine the young child I had raised
carrying and birthing her own child and then I growled…, who
had knocked up my ward, a child I had raised!? And then I remembered the shared kiss in the autumn leaves
and the sad looks Rin kept giving Hagashouri.
I was angry and upset and I felt a tad bit
betrayed and all of it must have flashed across my face because Inu
Yasha let go
of my hands and gently cradled my face between his hands, “I
understand you are feeling a lot right now but please don't
do anything until I finish telling you what
I've found out.”
I nodded and closed my eyes feeling his soft
but callused hands against my face.
“Rin is fifteen and yes, for us that is
young but by human standards it is not so unusual for one her age
to be married and caring for children. It seems as though she and
Hagashouri have bonded and become quite close and unfortunately
they both let young love cloud their minds and one thing led to
another…Rin began getting morning sickness and realized her
ailment. She said something to Hagashouri and he…took it
badly.”
“And what do you mean by badly,” I
asked fearing the truth even though I needed to hear it.
“It seems he told her there was a tea she
could drink and that it would help her lose the pup. She begged him
to reconsider and said that even if they would never be married
that she would still love the child and care for him on her own if
need be. He said he would not be apart of her bringing a deformed
hanyou into this world.”
With that I saw tears gather in Yasha's eyes
and knew that it hurt him as much as it had hurt Rin.
I pulled his hands from my face and kissed each
palm before I stood and brought him against my chest
and held him tightly against me.
“Do not cry my dearest, I will talk to my
brother and make this right, one way or another.”
I let go and then leaned down to place a kiss
on his forehead and then one on
each cheek before finally placing a lingering
one on his warm lips.
“Prepare yourself for bed and I shall
return shortly,” I said as I gently cupped my left hand to
his cheek and my right to the rounding of his belly.
I turned and walked out of our room and down the stairs and walked into
the sitting room finding my mother and uncle sitting by a low fire
talking happily as I almost stomped my
way over to them. They both looked up at
me as I approached.
“Have you seen Hagashouri,” I asked
with as serious a look I could give.
“Your older brother Kouakajou has
taken him outside to talk. Is there
something we should know,” my mother asked with an honest
concerned tone.
“Not at the moment but all should reveal
itself soon. Thank you.”
I made my way outside leaving my bewildered elders behind me. It wasn't hard to find my siblings; I merely had to follow
to harsh whispers.
They stood under torch light by
the garden pond at the far gate.
“She is within her right to make her own
decisions; she should NOT do this on her own. She is young and
human and more than likely scared out of her wits,” I heard
Kouakajou say in the harshest tone I've ever heard him
use.
“She should do as I asked then,” I
heard Hagshouri say softly.
“And how is killing an unborn hanyou
going to solve any problems,” I asked as I
approached.
Hagshouri turned and gave me a startled and
almost horrorstruck look.
“It wasn't on purpose I swear to you. It
was something that went too far and when I found out…I didn't
want her to destroy her life or its,” he almost sobbed
out.
“I want you to consider something Otouto;
my brother, yours by marriage is a hanyou. I understand your terror and fear
for her and your unborn pup but you must understand something that
took me hundreds of years to and if you can then you will have surpassed me when I
was your age.”
“And what is that,” he asked almost
miserably.
“As long as you care not what others
think and love for the sake of love then you have no need to
fear.”
Both Kouakajou and Hagashouri stared at me
surprised.
“Inu Yasha was loved by our father who
gave his life for his and by his mother who against all odds raised
him until her untimely death. He found love again and again despite
his hanyou body. He grew to become the strongest and make many
friends. Can you look at him and not think that your own child
might have such a grand destiny,” I asked.
Hagashouri stood there with his hands clenched
and then he nodded. I walked over and clasped him on the arm,
“Do what's right by her and by your self.”
He nodded and
started making his way toward the palace when I
cleared my throat, “Hagashouri…”
He turned around to face me again and before I
could fully think about it I punched him in the jaw causing him to
fly backwards hitting the ground hard. I then walked towards him
with Kouakajou on my heels panicked at what I had just
done.
“That is for disobeying my orders and
touching my ward without first taking her hand in marriage
or talking to this
Sesshomaru. Should this not end with
marriage or at least you making her an official mate I will have to
do more than that, brother or not.”
I walked past him and into the house leaving a
parting shot as I did do, “And don't forget to apologize to
Inu Yasha, I do not like seeing my mate distraught over such
trivial things especially when he carries my heirs and your nieces or nephews. Good
night.”
As I entered the palace I passed by my uncle
and mother once more who only stared as I walked by.
“I expected a bit more blood,” my
uncle commented who then let out a yelp
of pain as mother hit him with her closed fan.
At the bottom of the stairs stood Inu
Yasha, who smiled upon seeing me,
“Shouldn't you be upstairs waiting for me patiently like an
obedient mate?”
He held out his hand and I clasped it as we
walked up the stairs, “And what mate are you thinking
of,” he asked as he looked ahead.
“I cannot say. I know that I prefer my
mate disobedient and naughty with a bit of sass,” I said as I
massaged his rounded bottom which seemed to be pressed tight in his
yukata.
“Hey now, who are you calling
naughty,” he said as he swatted my hand away with his free
hand.
Once in our room he pulled me into his arms and
kissed me passionately our tongues dueling. When we finally broke
for air he gave me a look so deep and filled with loving that my
breath caught in my throat.
“I love you,” he said
softly.
“And I you,” I said holding him
against me hoping that I could enjoy this happiness to the fullest
even if I should die I would leave this world with no
regrets.
To Be Continued….
Yay! Two chapters in one day…holy crap.
Trying to finish this story so I can start working on others. I
have new story ideas but I'm forcing myself to finish older ones
first. Already have a new Inu Yasha fic in my head that needs to be
typed. I think it will be called Castle of Glass and will be an
actual Kouga X Inu Yasha with Kouga staying alive and as the main
pairing.
Thanks for reading and reviewing. Hope to have
more soon.
