A/N: Okay, I don't know how much you'll understand from this chapter, but I hope you catch my drift. Anyway, enjoy.

“Inuyasha?” she greeted instinctively, before walking up to him. She bowed a little as he did the same and reached her hand for him to take. Instead of kissing it, he grasped it between his too larger ones and didn't let go.

“I have an idea, Kagome,” he said delightfully. “Why don't we go walk in the garden? We shall have some peace there; it seems your servants are very interested in me; they keep gawking,” he admitted, releasing her hands to nervously rub his nape. She blushed a bit, before regarding Miroku heatedly. The butler shrugged, hurrying to make his exit.

“Shall we?” he asked, but didn't wait for her acknowledgement. He seemed to do that a lot. Instead, he took her by the elbow gently and dragged her all the way to the backyard that led into the huge garden. She was amazed that - once again - he was so familiar with her house. Maybe he had a similar one?

She couldn't help but wonder why on Earth this man seemed to know her so well and she almost didn't hear him speak.

“Your servants gave me a little tour today. I visited the whole house; I do hope you don't mind,” he said, gazing back at her, his bright eyes pleading and she smiled in reassurance.

“Listen,” he said, “The problem is with my grandmother. She is very ill. We really don't know what to give her or what to do. You are our only hope.” His tone was miserable and she felt bad for the poor guy. He probably really loved his grandmother.

“Then when can I come to see her?” Kagome asked meekly. She still wasn't sure she could put up with an unusual disease; it would technically be her first attempt to cure someone. She might have been a pro in the past, but now she had a new, different life with no knowledge of her past. She wasn't the old Kagome anymore and she was sure she could never be her again.

“She has requested for you to come in a month,” he told her and Kagome gasped loudly. They were still walking, she realised, but her feet seemed to be carrying her unconsciously as Inuyasha's grip on her elbow tightened. She winced a little, but didn't say anything out of empathy. He was clearly suffering because of his grandmother's state and the fact that she didn't want to allow Kagome to come sooner.

“She wants some time to get ready in case she dies during the treatment,” Inuyasha explained weakly, sighing profusely. “She is a very strong woman, but these things overwhelm her.”

“I understand. I am sorry that she doesn't want to do it sooner, Inuyasha. If she changes her mind, you know exactly where to find me,” she told him. “Oh, by the way… didn't you say she was not the only case?”

“Yes, I did. There are several people that present the same symptoms. I will ask my grandmother what exactly she is feeling so I can come and inform you. But let us forget about this situation, for now, and enjoy the beauty of your garden. It is breathtaking, Kagome,” he said, apparently amazed by the wonderfully arranged flowers and trees. It had the aspect of a hidden forest full of unusual, potentially rare plants. Needless to say it was so large you had to be very careful not to get lost, but Inuyasha seemed to know exactly where he was heading.

“Thank you.”

Her smile was brilliant as Inuyasha walked towards her favourite place in the whole garden. Her place.

She gulped nervously, a sudden lump forming in her throat. She was aware now of how much that area had meant to her and now it seemed to mean even more. Ever since she had brought Tsubaki there she had been feeling very guilty. She felt she had spoiled the place's seclusion. She now regarded it as a sanctuary, and to share it with Inuyasha…

Her hands trembling, she bit her lip furiously, trying to figure out if it was a good idea to bring him there or not. Would this mean more to her than anything else now? She realised she was slowly falling in love with this peculiar person that was dragging her determinedly, but she did have a husband…

`that left you,' her conscience reminded her.

… and a reputation to keep.

`which you don't give a damn about'

Having found her resolve, she quickened her pace to match his and peered at the sheltered bench beyond the oddly shaped trees.

The tired woman dragged Audrey through the tunnel and up the staircase then right into her lover's large office room. Just when she was about to say something, he cut her off with a silencing hiss and motioned for her to get closer. The woman never let go of Audrey and opted for bringing her along.

As the women approached, they both saw a floating, transparent screen that showed something. When they were close enough to make out details, they could immediately notice a large garden and two persons sitting on a lovely bench.

“Is that - ?” the woman started to ask, but the man silenced her urgently, watching the events with enhanced curiosity. All Audrey could do was wince and hope they wouldn't notice.

~*~@~*~f~*~

“I want to tell you something,” Inuyasha announced and her heart did a back flip. At first, he didn't say anything and she began to think he changed his mind, but he seemed very nervous about something.

For some reason…

~*~@~*~f~*~

“Is this why you needed the herbs?” the woman asked her lover as she watched the twosome in the screen gaze at each other edgily.

“Part of the reason,” the man mumbled, focusing more on the screen. “I thought I told you to stay quiet.”

“Actually, you did not ask me to; but I will,” she replied with an attitude.

~*~@~*~f~*~

Inuyasha's eyes were tracing the outline of a nearby tree, carefully avoiding hers as she leaned more towards him, trying to make him look at her. Kagome knew he was avoiding her for the moment and finally respected his choice, leaning back a bit. Right at that moment his gaze snapped to hers, locking their eyes together in a forceful bond.

“I…” her words seemed to be stranded on a remote beach, refusing to return to her.

“I am starting to feel more and more drawn to you, Kagome Takahashi,” Inuyasha told her almost breathlessly and her heart skipped a couple of beats.

Her voice trembling with hope, she asked him mildly, “H-how so?”

“The first time I saw you,” he started, tensing suddenly as his eyes acquired a faraway look that she couldn't quite comprehend. It was as if he was recalling something.

“When I first saw you,” he repeated, “I thought you looked like morning light on a thunder-stricken sky after a stormy night. You took my breath away when that first smile tugged at your perfect lips before you let it pass your defences and settle on your angelic face.”

Sudden warm tears sliding down her own skin brought her out of her reverie and she looked at him gently. His words had put her in a vague trance and she was trying to desperately hold on to the wonderfully fulfilling sensation. She didn't say anything as she let him complete his heated declaration. Every single word he uttered, each confession filled her chest to the brim with a devastatingly delicious pain she didn't want to lose. Her whole world revolved around the motions of his lips as he spoke to her softly, lying his heart out in the open for her to take or crush.

“I know it is very sudden, but the Universe works this way. Every time I see you, I feel a resounding need to crush you to my own body, keep you there,” he declared animatedly, making her blush, “perhaps even draw you into myself so we could never, ever part.”

His eyes were piercing blazing arrows into hers and she shuddered under the intensity of his stare. Kagome's throat had dried up and she was surprised to realise she couldn't speak. Her lips parted to give way to words and Inuyasha frowned when they didn't come.

Kagome's chin twitched almost unnoticeably and her face contorted into a rare display of emotions. Tears staining the perfection of her eyes, she whimpered loudly. His gaze mollified and he trailed a delicate hand on her cheeks, wiping the moisture away. It was times like this that Kagome wanted to melt to the ground and take Inuyasha with her, so they could live amongst particles of dirt, loving each other till rain decided to sever their bond. Or - if they were lucky enough - for forever.

His face leaned into hers and she held her breath for an instant in anxious anticipation. When it seemed like he would capture her lips with his, she closed her eyes awaiting the calming gesture. She was infinitely surprised and soothed when she felt his lips brush on the sensitive and moist skin of her cheek. He suddenly applied more pressure on the light kiss, before letting his lips linger just a little while longer. He reluctantly pulled back and Kagome looked at him with nervous eyes.

She knew exactly where this would lead. A scandalous life. An outrageous affair. She would live with this man outside of marriage. Kagome wasn't raised with this kind of mentality; she was a traditionalist. Many times after the memory loss she'd been up at nights, wondering how in the world she'd led that rakish life everyone said she had. How had she become a whore? Any way she looked at it, the concept seemed impossible to grasp.

Her eyebrows knitted together in a contemplative frown and she realised Inuyasha was still waiting for her response. His declaration was hanging on a thin string that could break at any moment.

And - even though her heart would be crushed - she would be the one to break it.

Suddenly tensing, she opened her mouth to speak. “I am… I am sorry, but this is inappropriate. I can't do this.”

His eyes never lost their optimism and he smiled at her.

“I feared you would say that,” he told her.

“You did?” she asked confusedly. She had thought he was positive she would accept this... whatever this was supposed to be.

~*~@~*~f~*~

The woman smirked dangerously while Audrey pretended not to be interested in the screen. It was proving to be difficult, however, as she saw the events that happened on that bench. She tried her best not to say or do anything to blow up her cover, because she knew she would have a serious problem otherwise. But it was proving to be a stern challenge as she realised that what was happening on that screen was real and it was happening just now. It was sad to see how things had evolved and she knew she had to get out as soon as possible.

The man in front of her sneered silently at the screen.

“Oh look,” the beautiful witch commented, “he's got your acting skills, lover.”

Her words didn't go unnoticed as the man frowned deeply before replying, “Or maybe not.”

“What is that supposed to mean?” she asked confusedly.

In an instant, he jumped to his feet ignoring her and dashed to some shelves, picking up what looked like a potion.

“I am worried,” he said solemnly, “that something has gone wrong. By the looks of things, it has already happened. That is why I have to strengthen the previous potion much faster than I have thought I should. We have to hurry and you, my dear, shall have to make sure you give it to him.”

“Fine, lover,” she said in a flat tone.

He paused suddenly, turning his head a little to the side. “How is Kikyou?” he asked her.

“Miserable, I should presume,” she answered with a grin and was satisfied when he grinned back. Only then did he return to making the potion.

“You must understand that these are no ordinary feelings I am speaking about. This is something so strong that has bloomed ever since I met you. You cannot just ignore such a thing and I am sure you feel the same thing. It is all over you face,” Inuyasha told Kagome, trailing a gentle hand on her jaw.

“Th-this isn't happening,” Kagome uttered and jumped to her feet, prepared to dash into the mansion. She didn't regret bringing him here in this wonderful, special place, but now everything was problematical. The sole fact that she had brought him here was a complication in and of itself. Not to mention the fact that he declared his love for her here, too. This was something she could never forget, she realised.

~*~@~*~f~*~

“Lover,” the woman called meekly. He didn't answer as Audrey shifted uncomfortably.

“Lover,” she called out again, a little louder this time, but he was just too engrossed in his work.

“You pesky wizard!” she shouted and knew she had his attention now. He sent her a furious, Hell-filled look and she cowered a little when seeing it, but she would never admit it. “Look,” she urged and he realised she was speaking about the screen. Curious, he directed his gaze on it and studied the current events that were unfolding before their eyes.

~*~@~*~f~*~

Inuyasha reacted promptly. Just as Kagome darted to leave him open-mouthed, he rushed and grabbed her by the elbow and crushed her slim form to his heaving chest. His pulse quickened suddenly when he realised the true extent of his actions. Their bodies moulded together, they could feel every little movement in each other's body as it reverberated through their own. Inuyasha's eyes searched hers and found a new world in which to lose himself.

For the first time, he was frustrated having the concealment on, because he couldn't use his hanyou senses anymore. He couldn't hear her heart pounding against her chest, he couldn't smell her scent. He couldn't do anything that would normally give him pleasure. Still, just being with her brought a familiar sense of peace he wasn't sure he could and would withstand. However, he reminded himself why he was doing this and a calm smile settled on his tense features.

Kagome saw this shift and felt compelled to smile, too. She brought her free hand - that wasn't being abused by the man in front of her - to her chest, trying to calm her throbbing heart.

“I think you should go,” she told him, avoiding his gaze for once and was surprised to hear his heartfelt chuckle. She would have thought he'd feel offended by now and leave, but there was no such thing. “I already told you I do not want this. I am married,” she said, as if reminding herself. She was married. That though just barely registered as she realised this was yet another reason not to get in this strange relationship with Inuyasha.

“Are you, really?” he asked wittily.

“What is that supposed to mean?” she countered with a pout.

“What you want to make of it,” he answered lightly and pressed her harder against him. By this point she felt her breath would soon leave her and struggled to resist his charms. It was proving quite useless, but she tried to do it nonetheless.

~*~@~*~f~*~

“This is not good,” the man said, leaving the screen and pacing up and down impatiently. “This is not good at all,” he repeated and the witch's eyes widened. It was rare for him to show such frustration and she knew she was missing something. This had to be something important. Things seemed to go pretty well in her opinion, but it seemed her lover didn't agree. Wasn't that what he'd wanted in the first place? Wasn't that his big plan? Well then… what was so wrong as to make him this nervous?

Suddenly, he dashed to the screen again, his eyes seemingly glued to it.

~*~@~*~f~*~

Kagome averted her eyes, but Inuyasha roughly grabbed her chin and brought her lips to his harshly. The pressure of his mouth against hers coaxing it to open was Kagome's undoing, as she let out a stray moan, giving Inuyasha the perfect opportunity to thrust his tongue into her mouth, touching everything in its path.

Kagome's eyes snapped shut as she briefly tried to resist him, but she found she couldn't. Her tingling skin, the shivers that went up and down her spine, Inuyasha's frantic caresses made her weak with desire and she realised she would never be able to deny him anything, even if he decided to take it against her will. This knowledge brought forth a frustrated grunt as her hands unwillingly untangled themselves in his rich mane. He smirked against her mouth, cupping her jaw in one of his hands to move her head so that the angle he found was a more pleasurable one.

Inuyasha could feel each and every one of Kagome's pleasure-filled moans travelling down his throat, echoing inside his own chest as he swallowed them greedily. He got lost in her soothing presence, the warmth of her skin, the heat of her mouth and the texture of her tongue erratically rubbing his.

He groaned out loud, crushing her more to his body - if that was even possible. Her surprised gasp was a pleasant reward as he traced her sides with inquisitive fingers. Inuyasha felt her shudder as her knees almost gave up, but he was quick to support her.

Suddenly, he applied a lot more pressure on her lips and held his breath, then released her abruptly, pushing her backwards a little and she almost fell.

“Think about it,” he told her before turning on his heels and leaving the garden.

“What does it mean?” the witch asked her lover breathlessly as she saw the desolated girl
watch the retreating man with confusion and desire flickering in her glazed eyes.

“It means trouble,” her lover said, averting his eyes from the screen. “It means we have to be prepared for anything. It might mean that our plan is leaking,” he explained gravely and Audrey felt a glimmer of hope settle inside her chest. She was devastated that she couldn't share this with the other three that were still in the terrible dungeon, but she swore she would find a way to get them out as soon as she left this place.

Suddenly, the witch's eyes landed on Audrey.

“Oh, darling. I almost forgot about her. She forgot everything,” the woman said as the man's eyes snapped up to her.

“Are you serious?” he asked solemnly and the woman ignored his question.

“The potion works!” she exclaimed.

The man suddenly went to inspect Audrey, who did her best to look confused.

“Wh-who are you?” she asked, trying to look a little scared, as well as brave. “I'm not afraid of you, just so you know,” she declared, tilting her chin up a little.

The man smirked in obvious delight and she felt like rolling her eyes at the couple's stupidity.

“Don't come any closer! Get me home! I want out of this weirdness!” she demanded, remembering the old times when she would do anything she liked just by asking her servants. Those times seemed so buried in the pat; she didn't even know how much time she'd wasted in this mess.

“Do you really not remember anything?” he asked her and she stiffened for a second, barely remembering she had to maintain her composure.

“What should I remember?” she countered and he smiled, walking in circles around her.

“Nothing,” he answered from behind her, and she turned around to face him but realised he was behind her again. Each time she tried to face him he'd do the same thing.

“Then why do you ask? Look,” she said meekly, hoping tears would spring to her eyes soon so it would all be more realistic, “I just want to go home…” Voila: tears. “I just want to be with my family. I miss my home…” she said miserably and the witch almost felt sorry for keeping her here, now that she wasn't a threat anymore.

The man took something out of his pocket. It was some sort of dust, which he sprinkled her with. Audrey's eyes widened as her mind was suddenly becoming foggy.

“You idiot! You are wasting the dust! We don't have much,” the witch scolded.

“Shut up,” he said harshly and watched Audrey obtain a glazed look. “Do you remember who Kagome is?” he asked her.

“Yes,” she said almost breathlessly and the witch gasped loudly, not missing the look her lover gave her.

“Do you remember who Inuyasha is?”

“Yes.”

“Are you one of the only one who know of what we have done?”

“No.”

“Who else knows?” he asked disdainfully.

“Lady Caroline and her sister, Eveline, Jane and Kaede,” she answered mechanically.

“Do you have a plan to escape?” he asked her curiously.

“Not yet.”

“Is there a way you could ever escape?”

“Yes,” she replied.

“Really? Well, tell me,” he urged.

“Jane has managed to weaken the chains a little by rubbing them together. We have all tried to do it, too, but we are not very strong and we did not manage. It is possible that in a few months she manages to break the chains.”

“I knew I should have given you thicker chains,” he mumbled more to himself. “If you ever go out, what will you do first?”

“We shall go to Kagome and tell her everything that you are keeping from her. And warn her about your plan.”

“Did you see the screen just now?” he asked, quirking an eyebrow while waiting for her answer.

“Yes, I did.”

“What do you think?”

“Your plan has flaws,” she said.

He gritted his teeth for a second, before deciding to change the subject. “What are Inuyasha's weaknesses? Other than Kagome, of course.”

“The fact that he is a hanyou. His feelings. The night of the New Moon. His inability to deny Kagome anything.”

“Hmm, those are a few, but I already knew most of them. I shall think of it. Do you know any way I could strengthen my potion? Or how to make the others less immune to it?”

“You have to somehow involve feelings in it,” Audrey told him automatically.

His face lit up immediately as he exclaimed,” Of course! How could I miss something like this? Very well, you may go back now,” he said, motioning for the witch to get her back to the dungeon.

As they walked through the tunnel, Audrey started to get back to her senses and realise her slip-up. All the things she'd unwillingly told him. All the ideas she'd given him. Would they really be hopeless now? Forgetting everything seemed bliss for once and Audrey felt bad for wanting it, but she knew she had to stay strong for Kagome's strength. They would all have to fight for their freedom and their memories.

The witch opened the door abruptly and threw Audrey inside, binding her with the chains using a spell, before leaving soundlessly.

~*~@~*~f~*~

Kagome sat on the bench again, trying to understand what had just happened. She brought a trembling hand to her abused lips and realised she'd give anything to feel the moisture of his tender lips again. She closed her eyes painfully and looked at the cloudless sky.

A few tears found their way down her face and she was surprised for once. She felt they didn't belong to the current Kagome; maybe they were the other Kagome's. Maybe they were now falling freely because of the Kagome who was aware of her life. Of her past.
God, she wished she could remember everything…

Suddenly, Kikyou's face flashed on the sky and Kagome blinked twice.

Where had that come from?

~*~@~*~f~*~

“Audrey?” Lady Caroline's voice floated in the air.

“Y-yes,” she replied, tears blinding her. Not that she wasn't already technically blind because of the sheer darkness of the dungeon.

“What happened? Why are you back?”

“I screwed up,” she stated feebly.

“What do you mean?” Jane asked, suddenly frightened.

“He gave a something that made me tell the truth.”

“Oh, honey. I am so sorry,” Lady Caroline said. “It must have been hard for you to recognise you were lying about not remembering.”

“But that is not all,” Audrey articulated pathetically.

“What do you mean?” Caroline's voice was flat.

“They made me tell them about the fact that Jane's chains are weaker now and about Inuyasha's weaknesses and many other things. Oh, I am so sorry,” she whined, sniffing loudly from time to time. “I am so, so sorry,” she repeated again and again as if saying this would absolve her of the crime she'd just committed. Because that's what it was. A crime.

“We had some hope, but now I destroyed it,” she cried out as the others remained silent. “Inuyasha wasn't as lost as we thought he was, but now he is going to be. Oh, girls, I am so sorry! Kagome… our poor Kagome…” Her tears felt like blisters on her moist cheeks.

“It is all right,” Kaede said softly. “There was nothing you could have done…”

“We are doomed,” Caroline's sombre voice echoed in the dungeon and the three women froze at the sound.

A/N: I wanted to say things will get weird from now on. There will be a lot of intense things happening and I want you to be warned. I'm doing my best to keep this both confusing and interesting, for now. I can't wait to get to the part when I won't have to use so many ruses so you don't realize all that's happening just yet and I can speak my mind freely. But until then I'll have to make sure this goes on well. Thanks for reading.
