A/N: Okay, for those few out there that may recognize this story, it has changed. I mainly thought I was just going to revise it, leaving the ideas the same, I changed my mind. Some parts may be the same, though others may change drastically. For those out there that liked the old version better, I’m sorry, but this is how it is going to be, not meaning to sound mean or anything, but this is it. And for those who like this better, well, enjoy!

Kagome Higurashi looked around, sticking closely to the wall as if it was her only life support. Her eyes searched for any sign of the one that would be meeting her soon, hoping that the storm would let up, though it didn’t look like you should be betting on it. Pulling her knee length coat closer to her form, Kagome shivered as another gust chilled her to the bone. Come on you, let’s go, I would like to get the information before I die of old age, she grumbled mentally, a small splash of a foot hitting a puddle was heard.
“You are 57283?” the voice asked, a form starting to form before Kagome’s very weary eyes that strained to see through the black ink of the night.
“Yes,” she answered, saying as least as possible, if someone was listening, you wanted to be as discreet as you could.
“Again, there have been more reports of the strange happenings like youki, psychics, and vampires. It seems a lot of those psychics are terrorizing people, youki are stealing babes from their cribs, and there as been nine more mortals found, presumed dead by complete absence of blood, and then they go missing. If I were you guys, I’d take a look at it,” the blonde headed man commented as he stepped into the moonlight, Kagome instantly didn’t trust the man.
“Yeah, well, your not us, so you do your job, we’ll do our's,” her voice commented dryly, wanting the conversation to end then and there.
Grabbing the note that the message was scribbled on, Kagome ran down the abandoned street, she didn’t trust that man, no matter what Mr. Lippizzaner thought of him. Hurrying, she never stopped running, this wasn’t the place nor the time to be got alone on the streets. Searching the area for any signs of others, she breathed out with relief, there were none, though she still hurried on. Kagome may have been one of the best, but she also knew that there were those out there that wanted her head on a platter, for she knew that the rumors weren’t just rumors that young people spread around from time to time, they were lethal truths that threatened lives each and every night.
Two blocks, just two more blocks, Kagome chided to herself as she ran the length of the sidewalk, she was starting to get that tingling at the back of your neck feeling. The moon turned a blood red, casting an eery glow upon the ground below, and the wind seemed to hold it’s breath in waiting. Staring at the path in front of her, Kagome took a deep breath and stepped hesitantly forward. I mean, could you blame her for being so cautious?
Flapping of a nearby owl could be heard, which set the girl’s heart to racing, her breathing becoming ragged from the fear she now had. Tearing off down the streets of Jefferson City, Kagome raced for the alleyway that she had grown so familiar with. Reaching her destination, she walked to about the middle of it, and disappeared into the shadows.
The stench of the sewer soon filled Kagome’s nostrils as she made her way through the long passage to her underground agency. She turned her nose up in disgust, and quickly knocked on the panel that was the door that led to where the agents worked, the panel opened silently and swiftly, and shut just as quick.
The door soon faded from sight as Kagome made her way through the halls, taking in the sights that she knew all too well. She could smell the delicious smell of food cooking in the cafeteria that she was coming upon. Taking a big whiff, she promised her stomach that she would return as soon as the message was delivered. As soon as her mission for the night was over.
Stepping onto the elevator, Kagome disappeared even farther beneath the city, deep below, where not even the worms would dare to roam. The doors closed, and the girl pushed the button for the 1st level, and the small room moved, sending a weird feeling to settle in the pit of her stomach.
Ding. The doors slid open to a dark hallway that only led two ways, to the right where the quarters in which some of the agents stayed, and to the left, was where the boss was, the man that was in charge, the man that could send tingles down your spine with just a single glance.
Taking a step out of the metal area, the doors closing behind her, taking a few steps Kagome took a large gulp of air, and with a determined aura around her, she marched to the door at the end of the left hall. Her steps never faltered, as most did when any would travel this same path to the head office, her’s remained as steady as a drum. Ignoring the fact that this was indeed her boss, the girl reached the door, turned the knob and stomped in without a second thought.
Sitting at the desk on the opposite side of the room, Kagome could see the faint outline of the man, watching her every move. A knot of fear formed in her nervous stomach, but she quickly squashed it , and looked him in the eyes without blinking.
“Well, well, if it isn’t Kagome, looking good as usual,” Mr. Lippizzaner commented, taking in her appearance of her black leather pants that clung to her legs like a second skin, her red t-shirt that didn’t leave anything to the imagination, and high heeled black boots completed the ensemble.
“Mr. Lippizzaner, more reports have come in about the same thing that has been happening for the last couple of weeks. There was nine tonight. Are you sure we shouldn’t take a look on it?” Kagome reported, not starting any kind of conversation, just stating the facts in her ususal brisk tone.
“No, it’s nothing but rumors. Stop worrying and take the rest of the night off,” the man stated, warning her to drop the subject, and so she did, not questioning his authority.
“Yes, sir,” Kagome agreed curtly, nodding her head in acceptance, and spinning on her heel one more time, her hair flying out when she turned, the girl left the dark room.
The corridor was dark, but it didn’t detour her from the steady stride she had set for herself, the destination was so close. Her stomach growled in agreement, the wonderful scents of food hitting her dull senses full force, making the ache in herself grow. The churning feeling rising with each step she took, the lights of the cafeteria were in view now, she was almost there, when her damn phone rang.
“Hello, Kagome Higurashi here, how may I help you?” The girl asked, not checking her ID to see who just had called her.
“Kagome! Where are you?” A shrill voice screeched from the other end of the line with such ferocity that Kagome cringed away from the loud noise.
“Sorry, mom, things ran kind of late,” she tried to explain, though it did her no good in the least, she was in for it.
“Kind of?! Kind of! Kind of is 11:00 p.m.! Kind of is even 12:00 a.m.! Not 2:00 a.m.!” Her mother yelled, infuriated at Kagome staying out so long.
“I’m sorry, I know I should’ve called, but things just got away from us. Ai, the others, and I just needed to study really hard. I promise I’m on my way home now!” Kagome promised quickly and hung up the phone before Kiara, her mother, could go off on another tirade.
Head hung, Kagome sighed, so much for a full-fledged meal! Her steps were decisive, her eyes certain, her mouth a smirk, and her heart aching. Quickly grabbing a doughnut from the cooks, she left the safe haven of her comrades and entered the deadly streets of Jefferson City. With the wind howling and the moon hung high, she jogged off into the night.
Feet hitting the pavement at a steady pace, Kagome ran her way down the sidewalk, wanting to make good timing reaching her beloved home. Though she knew her way by heart, some unknown force forced her stray from the path that she had taken for so long. Her steps slowed to a walk, her feet unsure, though her heart remained firm in its decision. And immediately when she saw the site, she knew that her feet had been right, she should have turned back. The Park.
The Park. The one that she herself had played so many times at when she was young. Her father pushing her on the swings as her friend ran around under the bask of the full moon. Her friend’s older brother would stand off to the side, leaning against a tree, staring up into the dark vast nothingness. How she missed them dearly, oh how she missed their faces when she awoke each morning to face a new day.
Kagome could remember every fond memory that this secret place, but there was one that blanketed all the others. Covering them up in a pit of despair, dread, and hate, not even the love of her family able to show through. The memory that set off many events that changed her life forever.
>Flashback<
The night was young as two young children played together in the safe comforts of their family watching over them. The little black haired female slid down the slide, pointing to the silver locked boy, a bit older than she, who watched with amusement at the young child. Her brown eyes shining with happiness that few ever got to experience in their lifetimes as she ran for the swings on the other side of the oversized playground.
“Kagome, don’t stray too far dear,” the gentle voice of her mother called out, worried for her oldest.
“I won’t mama, don’t worry!” Kagome cried back, her cheeks flushed with excitement, loving the feeling of her feet taking her quickly across the ground.
Chuckling, Yamahiko watched adoringly at his eldest, the one that held such determination yet such innocence, you wondered how the two could ever mix into one person. Switching his ever watchful gaze to his next inline, Souta, he watched at the pup of three resided to playing with little piles of blocks that he had received on the day of his birth. The other, the third in line, was young girl of one year, busying herself with the task of standing, which she had yet to master.
The young girl’s features resembled her father’s more than any of his other offspring did. She had black locks falling long, shiny, and straight, not a cute curl in sight. Her amber eyes, which never changed even when between the night of her transformation and her regular days, danced with self reliance in her task at hand, wanting no help from the outside world.
Yamahiko’s gaze directed it’s self to that of the stomach of his mate, the place that was rounded to a good size due to the fact of his fourth pup. Touching the stomach of his mate with a clawed hand, he smiled lovingly down at her from his position sitting beside her. The male pup would be on it’s way anytime now, much to the satisfaction of both of the two, but mainly Kiara, who had found this pregnancy harder than the rest.
“Well, Yamahiko, what a pleasant surprise,” the sound of an evil voice echoed through the park’s visitor’s ears.
“Naraku! What do you want?” Yamahiko shouted, standing instantly, ready to protect what was his.
“You know what I want Yamahiko, I want you to come with me, fight at my side, and I let your family live. That goes for you too, Inutashio, though I want your sons to come as well,” the dark voice of Naraku threatened, warning those that he would ensure death otherwise.
The Takeda brothers ran to their father’s side instantly, baring their juvenile fangs at the elder hanyou that stood before them. Their amber eyes bore into his dark ones, laughing as he watched the two pups ready to spring into action anytime he dared to move towards that of their loved ones.
“You silly pups, do you really think that you can destroy me? Pitiful. Besides, if you even try it, I’m sure a certain little girl would love a visit, don’t you think Sesshomaru?” Naraku threatened evilly, directing his cold stare directly at the eldest of the boys.
“Don’t you dare go anywhere near Rin!” Growled the fifteen-year-old Sesshomaru, flexing his claws for emphasis, trying his best to intimidate the creature.
“Temper, temper, do you really think I fear you? For I do not. Oh, look at that, a little child has decided to not join our conversation,” Naraku mused, staring off to the swing-set where young Kagome stood, her eyes wide with fright, and a whimper working its way up her slender throat.
“Don’t you dare! Leave her out of this you bastard!” Inuyasha yelled, leaving his sire’s side, and jumping to the spot where Naraku had directed his attention too.
“Your discussion is with us, not with the innocent,” Yamahiko commanded, wanting to persuade the hanyou away from his six-year-old daughter.
“Ah, I suppose you are right, though she does seem to be quite the beauty, but work before pleasure as they say,” Naraku taunted, eliciting a growl from the fourteen-year-old male vampire that guarded the frightened child.
“Will you come?” Naraku asked, now ignoring the pair just a few yards away, and turning his attention to the two powerful lords that stood regally before him.
“No,” Inutashio and Yamahiko commanded at the exact same instant, both of their eyes showing a hint of red in the corners, their primal vampire side wanting to show through.
“No? Well, maybe I wasn’t as convincing as I thought I was. Benika and Wakaki, would you do the honors?” Naraku chuckled out, his face hidden in a shadow caused by his dark bangs.
Two figures stepped out from the darkness, their feature lighting up with their master’s order, fangs bared in a sneer, as if rejoicing at the position that the two lords and their clans were in. They had ghastly eyes, ones that sought you out in a crowd, dragging you down with just a single glance.
The vampiress, Benika, stood tall and proud, holding an air that said she was better than you. Her orange eyes glowing in the night, showing off like two headlights of a car going down the interstate. Her brown hair was short, falling just to her shoulders, giving her free roam when in battle. Her wicked red tinted lips were licked by her tongue as if anticipating her next move. She wore a tight black leather mini-skirt that didn’t give her any modesty, the neckline of her black shirt falling so long that it split her breasts in two. A short leather jacket hung loose on her slender shoulders, giving her the look of death, and her feet were covered with high heeled straps that tied up her ankles.
The vampire, Wakaki, slumped somewhat, in a prowling way, hunching down as every muscle was tense, ready for action. His green eyes were dim, the only way you could tell that there was any color there, was because of the slight contrast the night took when it came to him. His lips were parted as if he had been running for a long while, though most likely he had not. His hair was a dirty blonde in color, almost looking the same color as his companion’s. His jeans were loose and baggy, his shirt a simple black tee that fell loosely as well. His biker jacket sported many chains that gleamed with the moon’s brilliant glow. He wore black combat boots on his spread apart feet, making him look like one of those villains off of the corny movies you were forced to watch.
Without warning the two struck out, crying out in the rage of battle, their lethal claws extended with the intention of death. The two split apart, Wakaki ran towards the father and son duo of Takedas, his sister taking on the great Lord Yamahiko single handed. Not paying attention to what was around them, they fended off the two that jumped at them, not noticing the two that snuck to the ones they held dear.
“Daddy!” A shrill cry swept through then, causing Yamahiko to stall just for a moment to glance at his eldest pup, who held a look of pure horror on her frightened face. Not realizing was their mistake, not looking was their downfall, not paying attention would make them pay one of the ultimate prices that can ever be spent.
“What imbeciles you have become! Look at you, not even realizing the danger your families are in. Pitiful. Though it seemed the young girl over there did, as well as Inuyasha. Uchito and Chihaya, would you like to show them what they’ve won?” Naraku cackled as the two he had spoken too stepped out from the shadows as if part of the landscape itself.
In the grips of Uchito, was little Aemi, the youngest born pup of Yamahiko, squirming to free herself from the death grip he had on her young throat. And to add to the disaster, in his other closed hand was the neck of the lord’s mate, Kiara. Her gasping sending his blood to boil, she was his, not to be touched by another. Not only was two of his family members in trouble, but three, the one yet to be born.
Beside Uchito, Chihaya stood, her smirk forever plastered on her face, the only daughter of Inutashio in her clutches. Similar to her partner in crime, she held little Eho’s throat, strangling the life out of her young body. And, arm wrenched behind her back, stood the mother of Inuyasha and Eho, her grimaced face showing her discomfort as the force increased on her petite arm.
A snap of Naraku’s fingers was all it took, the two monsters attacked. Wakaki went at Eho, clutching her with his talons, piercing her delicate skin, blood trickling to the ground. Growling, Sesshomaru went for his younger sibling, Inuyasha, though wanting to follow his brother into battle, knew where he belonged, and stayed put. Everyone’s attention was on the small pup, until the sharp cry of Fuji, mate to Inutashio, was heard by their sensitive ears. Turning, they saw that the stomach of the female was tore to pieces, blood pooling to the ground in great heaps, as her intestines and other internal organs hung out from the large wound. Her arms were scratched to the degree that they were almost unrecognizable. Her ankles were slit by bloodied claws, and, the muscles on her slim legs lost control and sent Fuji to the ground, hard and fast.
The hands of Chihaya was the sobbing Eho, her crying grew louder with each second, her wailing piercing the air like a knife. Inutashio attacked, his sword drawn, ready for a battle to the death, but the unoccupied Wakaki stopped him. Wakaki swung in, his foot spread forth, kicking the weapon away from the lord, and punched him in the jaw, sending him sprawling backwards. The wails of Eho had ceased, her mutilated body now lying on the ground, her eyes glazed over, the look only the dead possess.
Uchito smirked as he tossed Aemi to Benika, rushing over Chihaya let out a poisonous gas, that paralyzed the body for a few minutes, letting the victim to remain conscious, but unable to move. Yamahiko now was on the ground, growling, but unable to stop the fait of his pup as he watched the merciless Chihaya rip the child literally into two separate pieces. The scream of Kiara came forth, tears running down her cheeks at the sight of her now dead year old child.
Kiara didn’t have much time to ponder this though, for her painful gurgling was next, blood trickled down, a clawed hand was ripping out her throat. A great roar came from Yamahiko, but that was all he could do, he watched pained eyes as his mate, barely breathing, was dropped into a pool of her own crimson blood. Her life’ s energy flowing from her in great amounts, her breathing becoming even more ragged as the time ticked by ever so steadily.
At that moment, Wakaki and Chihaya were shoved to the ground, Inutashio and Sesshomaru finally gaining the upper hand. Yamahiko arose, his snarling lips lifted to show his lengthened fangs that dripped with saliva that burned the grass when it fell. They all ran forward ready to attack, while the four attackers were on the ground, but they stopped in their tracks when Naraku himself held up the whimpering form of Souta.
“Now, what is your decision?” Naraku asked, sneering at them, and knowing the answer before they said by the look of defeat they had etched on their faces.
“Fine, Naraku, we’ll go with you, just leave them be,” Yamahiko spoke up, knowing that there was no other choice to be made.
“Good, then here Benika, take this one over to his mother, I’m sure he would like to say hi,” Naraku chuckled as the three Takeda males, plus Yamahiko stepped forward. “Oh, but one more thing, Yamahiko, remove the pup that rests in your mate’s womb, it is the key to my success, as well as yours, Inutashio, so if you please.”
“You’ve got to be kidding, my mate isn’t even showing yet, it won’t survive!” Inutashio yelled out, desperately wanting to hinder Naraku’s plans.
“I realized this, that is why both of you, so as not to injure the blessed pups, will put them into these lovely females here,” he instructed, pointing his wicked finger at Benika and Chihaya.
Walking over to their dying mates, they put both of their hands over the place where life was growing. A yellow light formed in their massive hands, their unborn children were in their possession. Stepping forward, the two females allowed Inutashio and Yamahiko to put the pups into them by placing the light energy to their flat stomachs.
“Now, that, that is taken care of, shall we be on our way?” Naraku questioned, opening a portal that would transport them away from the scene, away from their families, away from their lives.
Five minutes passed, and the whirring of sirens came, the men in uniform receiving reports of screams coming from the area. They were trained for some of the worst sights, and disasters that anyone could ever imagine, but they were not prepared for this. The sight of two dead babies, not over the age of two, laid spread out, piece by piece, hanging from libs, blood dripping from playground equipment.
Two full-grown women struggling to breath, the one closest to them, had an unharmed child at her side, not much older than the two deceased ones. The small boy cuddled to his mother, sobbing almost silently for reassurance, and help. The other woman was completely by herself, her stomach no longer inside her, but on the ground for the whole world to see.
The officers retched, unable to look at the scene, and some had to turn around and leave, just unable to look any longer. The ones that remained, closed their eyes, took a deep steadying breath, and then reopened them. As they looked at it one more time, they saw the young girl in the midst of it all. Her hair matted with dried blood, not hers, but from the massacre, her dress tattered, her face pale, and though this had happened, no tears fell from her eyes, no fear was there.
Her eyes. Such hatred to fill them for such a young creature, her heart had turned to stone, her heart tainted ever so slightly the color black. Again, her eyes, deep pools of dark brown, almost black, were haunted. Haunted with the sight of her family and friends slain before her, the sight of the cruelty, the image would not stop playing over and over again inside her head and heart. The scenes would never stop, they would never go away.
Though she did not cry that day, tears now freely fell down Kagome’s tanned cheeks, her brown eyes filled with sorrow as each painful memory came back to her. In such detail they were that she could of lived the nightmare over again and again.
Her thoughts were broken off when the sound of a plea for help called out, and rushing of steps came through the overgrown grass. No one had stepped foot on here since that night, so many years ago.
“Please, someone! Help me!” A small vampire kit ran out from the underbrush, the notorious Thunder Brother youkis on his trail.
“Hiraikotsu!” A strong feminine voice yelled, as a giant boomerang sailed through the air, slicing the smaller of the creatures.
“Brother! You will pay for that wench!” The taller of the two threatened, as a young woman in a black outfit with pink armor walked out into the clearing.
The Thunder Brother that was still alive saw the massive weapon returning to its owner, and, with a quick turn, he swung his staff of sorts to stop the boomerang from coming any closer. It fell to the ground with a great thud, dirt and dust flying up from the crater it formed. The frightened woman with the high pony-tail, backed away, fears evident in her brown orbs.
Snatching her bow, Kagome pulled the string back, the bow already loaded with the single arrow. Her aiming was precise, and she let go of the string, a twang was all that sounded, her arrow soaring through the chilly air. The arrow hit its target, a blue light engulfing the brother, and purifying his body in the blink of an eye.
The two women breathed out a sigh of relief, the whimpering kit shaking in the midst of it all. Green orbs watched fearfully, his body too stricken with fear to retreat from the place that still held danger for him. The women looked each other’s way, meeting gazes, staring the other down as if to see about one another. Two pairs of haunted eyes stared from the darkness, a remembrance of what happened so long ago.

Chapter 1-A Trip Down Memory Lane
By: CowgirlUSA
Silent as the air around us, a small figure crept along, hidden in the darkness of the night, her shadow growing upon the decaying brick walls. The wind howled into the depth of the night, waling for something that we have yet to find out. Rain pelted down with such fury that it hurt your skin just like little balls of ice would. Lightning lit the sky, illuminating all who dared to walk this time of night. The night of August 8th, it was, the night that started the series of events that changed the life of one girl.By: CowgirlUSA
