InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Cover of the Rain ❯ Chapter 1
[ A - All Readers ]
So it's another one-shot. ::grins:: this time, what will most likely end up being a very short poem fic.
It's the weekend and so far I have done far more than I would like to admit. ::sighs:: tragically for me, I think I'm coming down with strep again. T.T At least, that's the way that my throat is feeling right now.
Luckily for you, that means that I'm probably going to be writing more. Whoo-ee. ::waves sarcastic flag of joy::
Anyway, let's hear more about Kagome and Inu...
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Monday morning at the campsite,
We're on our way to a big fight.
I'm scared as always for my group,
But dare not rise up in any sort of coup.
Our leader is silent, more so than norm,
Discovery makes my face grow warm.
Suppressed rage quells up inside,
Where else would he go if not by her side?
I can see her now as clear as day,
Her face is blank and her eyes say, “Pay,”
For sins long done and transgressions past,
She's willing to fight to the very last.
Anger as usual fades away,
My emotions are running rampant today.
What will we do when the oni attack,
And our leader still has yet to come back?
Suddenly my eyes with an idea are lit,
When he DOES return, I'll say, “Sit.”
That will teach him to run off like this—
His face and the ground are going to kiss.
Determination gives me strength to smile,
Our friends have been watching me a while.
Wide, young eyes view the emotional ride,
And sympathy is not something the others can hide.
Familiar silver and red bounds into view,
I'm on my feet and I know what to do.
My mouth is open as his eyes grow wide,
But from the word he cannot hide.
A flash of pink and my spell kicks in,
He's eating dirt for breakfast again.
Muffled curse words float up from the ground,
So I huff and once again utter the sound.
Minutes later he's back on his feet,
Spitting and cussing and looking quite beat.
I have to wonder what happened with her,
But of no one scene I can be finally sure.
Hanyou mouth runs wild with words,
Cussing enough to scare away birds.
I immediately glare in his general direction,
His running mouth snapping shut in correction.
“How could you do it,” I whisper alone,
“Though great heroics you have always shown.
You knew there was a battle today,
But you left us and ran to her anyway.”
His mouth drops open in shock and surprise,
And fear fills his clear amber eyes.
Any answer now will have him eating dust,
Surely then his spine will bust.
Crossing my arms I try not to cry,
Turning my eyes up towards the sky.
He panics and rambles, sweet side showing:
The situation grows worse without his knowing.
My tear-filled eyes then catch sight of the one,
Who had been watching all this and thinking it fun.
She stands away from the little camp square,
Grinning slightly and thinking it fair.
As he catches her eye he realizes his blunder,
Just as the sky offers one more clap of thunder.
I wait for the welcome rain to come,
To end this and force everyone to run.
He walks towards her and my heart breaks,
Crumbling more with every step that he takes.
The sky opens up with a chilly downpour,
And I don't try to hide my tears any more.
The good thing about rain is its tear-camouflage,
Not allowing any one scent in his nose to lodge.
Raindrops are wonderful cover for tears,
So I can cry all I want and nobody cares.
Turning my back to the eye-full of pain,
I say in a small broken voice his name.
He turns at the sound, recognizing it,
Just in time for me to say, “Sit.”
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
End. Weird, eh? I just sort of had this idea about crying in the rain, and I had to write about it. ::shrugs:: if you hated it, I don't care. Go ahead and complain, it's probably more than a little weird. And I'm more than aware that my poetry skills suck. So go ahead...review.
It's right here.
