Story: Crestfallen Snow
Pair: Bankotsu x Kagome
One Shot...
She stood a few steps away from him in the snow, her back turned to him. The pretty girl was clothed in blue hakamas and a white haori, her usual school girl outfit not fit for the current weather.
On her back were arrows and one simple bow, contradicting to the weapon of the man standing behind her, who held a massive sword slung on his shoulder.
The snow fell as the silence was broken with the handsome man putting down his sword called Banryuu.
The sounds of snow crunching under his feet were heard as he walked towards the miko.
He wrapped his arms around her waist, his chin on her right shoulder.
The girl put her hands on his arms, not wanting them to go away.
"You know we won't be together much longer."
The cold harsh reality crashed down on the girl as she knew his words were the truth.
Her eyes darkened with sadness as she nodded.
"I know. But...let's just stay like this...just a little longer." The man nodded, wishing this moment would last forever.
The girl laughed sadly.
"What's so funny?"
"I remember, how we were before all of this happened." The man nodded yet again, smiling.
This young woman had warmed his heart, showing him affection no other had ever dared to do. Sad enough, they were enemies and there was no way they could end up together in the end after all the chaos was done.
"I don't want to leave you." He whispered lovingly in her ear.
Her grip on his arms tightened.
"I don't want you to leave. You don't have to, I mean, you could stay and we could pro-" He cut her off.
"Don't be like that, you know it wouldn't work anyways. He'll find out soon and you'll be in danger."
As they reffered to he, that was Naraku.
Bankotsu looked up at the sky, white snow falling.
Why did you bring me back, if I'd have to fall for an enemy.
This was it, this was their last time together, he would make sure of it.
She turned to face him.
"But I don't care if I'm in danger! All I want..." She embraced him with all her might.
"Is to be with you."
Their time together had not been enough for them. It was unfair, how they only had been able to have one year to love each other.
One splendid year it was.
He hugged her back, his eyes closed as he thought about what he would do next.
He then lifted her face with his callous right hand, and kissed her for the longest time he could.
Soon their tongues mingled together, each battling for dominance.
After what seemed a short moment to them, they parted. The girl then heard the words she had been trying to avoid.
"Forget me. Erase me from your memory."
He then parted from her loving grip, proceeding to walk to pick up his Banryuu. Once he claimed his treasured weapon, he continued to walk forward. He never looked back.
The girl lifted her hand to the man, who only walked further away and becoming a smaller speck in the pale snow. She knew this would happen, this unavoidable and depressing event.
No words would come out of her mouth, only a whimper of sorrow. A faint whisper left her,
"Don't leave me..."
She collapsed on the snow, small droplets of salt streaming down on her face. The one man who had taught her unknowingly what real love was, was now walking away from her.
From her life.
The man walking away stopped at a distance, and then he turned around, hoping to see her still there.
She wasn't.
He smirked, it enhanced his handsome features and he tried to make it look as if he was happy.
That smirk only managed to turning into a sad smile.
This was for the better. He didn't want her to get hurt. The grip on Banryuu tightened, and he leaned against a tree.
Looking up at the snow with his cerulean eyes, he sighed. In the cold snow, his breaths appeared in the form of white clouds as he muttered just one name.
"Kagome..."
