Chapter 1-The Vixen

She leapt past the sleeping villages below her. She jumped from treetop to treetop to make sure no one saw her. She stopped in a tree and sat on the highest branch. The vision before her was both stunning and horrifying.

The castle where she grew up. The place where she had her sixteenth birthday. Where she saw her mother die before her eyes by a pack of demons sent by the devious, Naraku. Where she always cried in pain from her fiancé's words and actions.

She cringed as she thought for those days. He would yell at her and call her a stupid vixen. The same castle where so many good times happened was the same castle where she was abused and raped so many times a night.

She snapped to reality when one of the youkai of her father's court spotted her. She leapt into the air and sped towards no where in particular. Then several youkai chased after her.

*not this again…* she thought as she ran faster over the canopy of the trees. The youkai had just about caught up with her. As she looked back she tripped and fell through the thick canopy.

She landed at the feet of a youkai. He looked at her then to the pursuing youkai. The group of followers halted and froze before the youkai male. One of them stepped up and bowed politely, "excuse me, lord. We didn't mean to intrude on your lands." The youkai's cold eyes glared at the leader, "state your business in my lands."

The leader looked at him with a serious face, "that vixen as you see before you, is wanted at the castle." The youkai lord looked at her then to the leader, "she is the heir to the Southern lands, is she not? Why do you pursue her?" The leader growled in frustration, "I do not know. I follow orders and not ask questions, lord." The youkai sneered, "then you will know the national orders not to enter one's lands without permission."

The leader nodded, "yes lord. We will leave as soon as we get the girl." "you will not," the youkai said sternly, "you will leave immediately. The vixen will stay here and retrieve her punishment under my court's decisions." "yes lord," the leader said as he and the group of youkai turned and left.

The youkai lord looked at her, "vixen, eh? She has neko blood in her too… since they call her a vixen it's unmistakenable that the kitsune(fox) blood in her is royal." Just then a toad youkai ran out, "milord! I heard a commotion! What was it, milord Sesshomaru?" Sesshomaru nudged her with his foot, "just some youkai in search of this vixen. Take her to my castle. I am for sure that Rin will like a playmate."

The toad youkai gapped, "b-but milord! Vixens are vicious creatures!" "and you of all people should know that, Jaken," Sesshomaru said turning around, "considering that your late-love was a vixen with no taste in males. And it's sad. She was a beauty." Jaken's jaw dropped, "milord! You know I hate those memories…why bring them up?" "are you questioning me, Jaken?" Sesshomaru growled. Jaken jumped and bowed, "no milord! I will get An and Un to take her to your castle as soon as possible!"

Sesshomaru nodded as he walked off into the foggy night. Jaken looked at the girl's half-open eyes, "are you awake, vixen?" She just lay there looking in the direction Sesshomaru vanished, "sono toki zutto, watashi wa kie kaketa hikoukigumo wo mite-ita...demo anata banban kuun ai ashita…"

And before anyone goes CRAZY about what the `vixen' said. It means, "When you took off, I was watching for a long time as the vapor trail disappeared…but you never knew I love you…"
