Kuroko was quite proud of her costume. She'd made it herself. The dress was primarily black, the other colours were muted by black hues to the point that it was a subtile yet drastic diffrence. The medivel influence skirt puffed around her, some how having body with nearly nothing within. The front was cut in a long trapizoidal shape to reveal her long, stocking clad legs. The outer skirt was layered widely. Thedress flowing into the top seamlessly. The top hugged her waist and made a soft 'v' in a victorian style, muting her curves but slighlty accenting her cleavage. White friles lined the square neck. Her belled sleaves stopped at ehr elbows. Long white ribbons were tide around her expsed lower arms and a super long black ribbon was tied around her neck, the end of the bow she tied on the left side of her neck. The shorter of the two tails falling to her knee, behind her shoulder while the longer of the two tails fell before her and just past her knee.

(A/N: Ok, don't expect very many interuption in the future but I just gotta say... I can't discribe this dress!!! I saw it somewhere but I couldn't down load the picture and now that all of my bookmarks have been deleted by my stupid computer, I CAN'T FIND IT! So just think... something Freya from Chobits by Clamp would wear.)

Her long ebony hair had been curled and pinned up, curles curessing her cheaks but pulling away from her eyes to give her a deadly but seductive look. Her black, strappy high heals had been altered slightly so she could move faster and more comfortably in them (although you couldn't really tell). Her blood red lipstick and smoky gray eye shadow accenting her pail skin, pearly white fangs (when/if she smiled) and her black-sapphire eyes. Her sharp claws were buffed and especily cared for. There was no need to paint them for they were naturally black.

She stood at the end of the long hall, just infront of the doors to the main entertainment room, where the party would be held, a bowl of assorted candies in hand. She smiled warmly, her fangs gleaming and overlappig her bottom lip ever so slightly. Some of the younger children were slightly afrade but with kind words from Kuroko, they were quickly intranced.

Princesses, fairies, ninjas, elephants, alians, ghosts, vampires, samurai etc. passed her, reciving their welcome, taking candy, asking about her fangs, being lavished in compliments, before entering the room behind her and beginign the party.

"It's creepy... isn't it?" Akiko said slowly. The entire gang (InuYasha, Kagome, Shippo, Kirara, Sango, Miroku, Koga, and Kikyo) stood in the front doorway of the house, children and parents passing them.

"Is that really... her?" InuYasha asked, his eyebrow twiching as he watched the ever bord, dominating, and over-all nutral Kuroko beamed at the children that passed her, never running out of compliments for their costumes and treating them... with... kindness.

InuYasha jumped when a hand touched his shoulder. He whirled around, "Mom! Don't do that!" he almost yelled, then turned back to watching Kuroko.

"Did you drug her or something?" Koga asked Akiko.

"No, she doesn't react to most drugs." She said, making the rest of the group sweat drop. Had she actually tried to drug Kuroko?

"InuYasha, you will--" InuTaisho was instantly shushed by the group. He'd never been shushed in his life (with the exeption of Izayoi)! He wasn't quite sure how to react. Izayoi chuckled lightly.

"What's cought your interest?" She asked the group.

"Kuroko's being... human." Miroku informed, still shellshocked.

"Oh?" She questioned.

"Yah, usually she's tottaly nutral. Unless you're in her lab, then you're at her mercy and anything's possible. However, on halloween, she turns into this child loving, candy giving out, tolerant of messes, vampire!" Akiko said, stepping out of the way of a rather hyper child.

"Vampire?" Everyone asked, turning to her.

"Yah... I didn't tell you about that?" she questioned, when the Inu group shook their heads, she continued, "Kuroko was infected with the Vampire viruse as a kid but they got her the antidote fast enough that she didn't get any of the blood lust or illiguric reaction to sunlight." Akiko huffed, "She's so lucky. She's got fangs and claws and highten scences and everything!"

"Are you seriose?" Sango asked incredujisly.

"Those are real?!" Kagome almost yelled, having never noticed them before.

"Yah! Now, enough with standing in the doorway, we have to start the party!" Akiko said, leading InuYasha, Kagome, Kikyo, Miroku, Sango, Shippo, Kirara, Koga, Sesshomaru, InuTaisho, Izayoi, and (having come in last mineut) Mrs. Higurashi down the hall and to the door as the last of the children dissapeared into the room, leaving Kurko with a nearly empty bowl.

Her face returned to a nutral state with a hint of 'you idoit' in her precence when her gaze landed on them.

"That's just creepy." InuYasha said, very openly, as he shuttered. Kuroko ignored him.

"InuTaisho-sama, Izayoi-sama, Higurashi-sama, Sesshomaru-sama--" she peared around him with curiose eyes. Those same eyes instantly lit up when seh saw the small girl holding tightly to the backs of Sesshomaru's pants. Kuroko beamed again, lowering herself to balence on the balls of her feet, the bowl tucked in the crevice that was made as she became eye level with the girl.

"Hello, little one..." she noted the small tiara on the girl's head and her eyes widened in very good fake suprise. She bowed her head in respect, "Ah! Forgive me, my hime-sama! I didn't recognize you standing behind Sesshomaru-sama like that." She said, rising from what bow she could manage that close to the floor, "Would you like to go in with the other children, Rin-hime-sama?" she asked respectfully.

Rin shook her head.

"No? Well, what would Rin-hime-sama like to do? Your wish is my comand, my lady!" she said brightly, smiling widely at the girl.

"Alright, I'm outta here!" InuYasha said, turning and barging into the other room, everyone but Kagome and the adults on his heals.

Rin mumbled slightly before hiding further behind Sesshomaru, "Are you a demon?" She asked softly.

"Ah? I thank you for your compliment but I am no demon. I'm the mistress of this house... would you like a tour?" Rin nodded, Kuroko held out the almost empty dish, "Oh. It apears we're amost out. Rin-hime will not beable to choise!" Kuroko said dramaticly, pulling a black silk square piece of cloth from thin air and placing it over the bowl, "That won't do. We have a princess in our midst!" pulling off the cloth with a flick of her wrist to reveil a full bowl of candies. Rin smiled and giggled lightly.

She took a piece, "Thank You." She said, her vocie still soft but gaining some confidence.

"Ah! What a day! The great Hime-sama has thanked me! Such a beautiful maiden, too!" Kuroko said dramaticly, standing and holding open one of the tall white doors for the group of adults, bowing only when Rin passed.

--

Teens had been lead to a section of the lawn and a large padio seperat from the parents. While the parents were enjoying catoring, a beautiful garden with a koi pond filled with fish, lillies, and floting candels. They were also treated to a large padio sheltered from the outside by glass. The walkways and room were lit with paper lanterns. InuTaisho and Izayoi were quite impressed and Izayoi made a mental note to herself to ask their mother who had decorated.

Izayoi was dressed in her layers of kimonos that had beloneged to her as a princess. She'd coworced InuTaisho and Sesshomaru to dress up as well.

Seshsomaru wore his white kimono with red paterns on his left shoulder, and the bottoms of his leaves. He also wore his full armer but left his sword (at InuTiasho's demand) and fur pelt at home. A yellow and purple ribbon tied around his waist and over his armer, looping behind him once, Tokigen tucked safely at his side.

InuTaisho was dressed in a white kimono with similare blue designs in the same areas and much fearcer looking armer. Tentsaiga and Tetsaiga strapped to his side with a red and blue ribbon in much teh same fastion as Sesshomaru.

Mrs. Higurashi made a lovely fairy queen. She hadn't thought it'd suit her or look good (or remotely mature) however, having nothing better to wear and having receved it as a personal gift from Kuroko, she felt rather obliged to wear it. She was suprised by the flowing saten that actually did her justice with a low neckline, the fabrick of which was aloud to foldin on itself and give soft folds. Her figure was framed nicely in the fabrec while the skirt flowed to the ground and was merciful on her legs -- which she was rather self-conchess about (although had no real reason to be). The pail blue faberic cought the soft lights and seemed to glow in them. Kuroko'd even showed up earlier that day to do the sparkeling butterfly that now adorned her face and draw up her hair into a picturesc portrate with light sparkels in the soft curls. Small wings had been attached to her back carefully.

--

"Mut face!"

"Mangy wolf!"

Kagome tried to calm the situation as both men... boys went back and forth, throwing one to two word insalts at eachother.

InuYasha was dressed in his fire rat robes. The ring of prayer beeds Kagome'd given to him for his birthday in their second year of high school desplayed proudly (as usual).

Koga was dressed in wolf furs and wore his hair in its usual high pony tail. Neither of them wore shoes (most of the demons left them behind when they could).

Kagome wore her white kimono with the purple cattail designs and pink flowers grooped togther randomly and a red obi to go with Sango's kimono. A charm her grandfather'd given to her was tucked inside, the braided sting with a bead and tassel at its end hung out of the top. Her hair was aloud to hand louse.

Sango wore her navy blue kimono with white, five petaled flowers with fringed edges and white and green butterflys on it. She was thankful Kagome had invited her over. She'd never really been able to wear kimonos, only yukata. Her mother had died when she was little and Kohaku (no matter how hard he tried) couldn't really tie an obi. sango felt kind of stupid at how happy she was to finally beable to wear one without feeling like an idoit with her obi tied at odd angels. This particulare obi actuall went with one of her mother's kimono's. However, Sango couldn't fit her mother's kimono's yet. So, she settaled for the eligant and intricate gold, black, red, and white obi. Kuroko had even done Sango's hair into a lovely bun with a comb and little ornimants. Sango felt a little overdressed but for once, felt... like a girl.

Miroku wore his traditional budist monk robes and even brought along his staff, just it hit InuYasha with (which he'd already done several times). He was curently talking up a few girls while trying to catch Sango's notice. (She wasn't, mostly because she was watching InuYasha and Koga argue.)

Kikyo wore her priestess robes and tied ehr hair back in a traditional fation. Kagome had forgone her robes for two reasons; one, she may have been more powerful than Kikyo but she didn't practioce as much as Kikyo did; two, she didn't want to make the demons at the party nervice (she'd even told Kikyo as much). However, Kikyo didn't seem to care.

Shippo wore navy blue pants and a pail blue top with white-blue leaves printed all over. His fluffy tail was aloud to puff out behind him and his hair was tied up with a matching blue ribbon. His green eyes looked idely at the two before him as she shook his head and muttered 'idiots'.

The two black patches of hair Kirara had on either side of the top of her head were pulled into two pony tails while the rest of her pail blond hair was let louse. Her innorcent and large eyes blinked at the sight before her in slight frustration. She didn't really care for the wolf demon but she wished they wouldn't always make such sceans. She wore a white kimono with blood red sakura pettals sprinkaled across the silk.

Akiko hit both boys on the backs of their heads and began scolding them for making idoits of themselves and putting a damper on her party. She was dressed as a cat. A headband with black cat ears adorned her head while whiskers were drawn onto her face. She wore large, cosplay type, cat gloves, a black and white maid's outfit, and a black tail.

"This coming from little miss neko-chan." Koga said dryly when Akiko finaly finished yelling at them.

"You do know you look redicules, right?" InuYasha added.

"I look cute, ass hole! And the only reason I'm dressed like this is because I have to go between the kids and you idiots!" She suddenly smirked evily, "Why do you think there's a half hour between when the teens party starts and the kids party? I've gotta have time to change while Kuroko-chan organises the kids to make sure they're out of the way of the teens."

---

Kuroko introduced Rin to Kohaku who -- dressed as a samurai -- pledged his loyalty to Rin at Kuroko's request. Over the past hour, Kuroko had shown Rin almost every crevice of the house and fixed her something to eat while Rin went to the bathroom. Rin had also been introduced to Kaeda. Kuroko had also become Rin's lady in waiting and Kohaku, now, was her armed gaurd (litterally). She was begining to warm up quickly to children as Kohaku introduced her to his friends and girls he knew that she might like (although she seemed to like to hang out with boys more than girls).

In no time (and under the secretly watchfull eye of Kuroko) she began to stray further from Kohaku's side and play with the others freely. Kuroko smirked as she went to the far back, right corner of hte room, opening a door, passing across the tight hall to the door oposite and climbing up the stairs.

-- 20 mineuts later --

Kurok sat ontop of a small cat walk that protruded from the wall high above the tops of the doors. Her legs dangeled off the edge and her hands held onto the edges as she lenad forward and entranced her audiance of children.

"Slowly... she turned..." Kuroko turned slowly, to look over her shoulder. then slowly turned back, "There was no one there... that dark hall was empty. Her heart began to pound as her slow foot steps took her towards the safty of her grandmother's room. But then," she rushed her word, "a hand took hold of her shoulder--" Kuroko let out a scream, making hte children below her jump on the floor they sat on and scream as well.

--

"What was that?" Izayoi asked as almost all of the adults turnded to the sound of a loud, colective scream. Just as They were reacher the door to find out, Akiko came bursting in, out of breath from her run there.

"Don't worry, your kids are fine. I'm sorry, I tottaly spaced. Kuroko's probe just telling them a ghost story or something." She managed out before she fell forward, her hands resting on her knees as she tried to breath.

"Ghost storries?" Mrs. Higurashi asked when Akiko finally rose again, hands on ehr hips mumbeling about 'working out more'.

"Yah, Kuroko used to be a writer. She tells really good stories, too. Don't worry about nightmares thought, they're usually pretty creepy but when she tells 'em to little kids, she always makes sure to have a happy ending or something. Not really sure how she does it." akiko turned to the door, still appoligising to people as she left and the adults returned to their conversations.

--

"'But grandmother! Why would you do something like that to me?!' The girl cried, tears streaming down ehr face from the fright she'd gone threw that terible night." Kuroko said, changing her voice to match a young, sobbing child and then, mimicking Kaeda's voice almost perfectly, "'Because, Child, you would not heed my warnings.' Grandmother Kaeda said as she patted her grandaughter's back and looked into the fire that warmed the room.... And from that day foreward, Jasmine never spoke ill of her grandmother, nor did she disobay, for Kaeda never says -- or does -- anything without good reason." Kuroko finished. There was a pause before the children started clapping and giggeling. Kurko smiled as she stood and bowed, disapearing into the shadows and walking back down the rickety staircase and out the door, past the hall and back into the room.

Kuroko always told that story when children were meeting Kaeda for the first time. She never told the children or their parents who was baby sitting before hand so she could tell that story and not have the children tune it out.

A few mineuts passed as children chattered away and Kuroko surved them drinks and candies before Kuroko saw Akiko dash threw the room. Kuroko promptly anounced it was time to either go home or begin getting ready for bed. (In the end, They had desided it would be easier to have a sleep over. Of course it was optional and parents could take their children home at anytime.)

The children filed upstairs and bemoand their short party. They were lead to the second floor and shown to a long hall with dressing rooms on either side. Kuroko called out their names in alphibetical order and handed each the pair of pjs their parents had provided. Kuroko carefully cept track and ticked off their names when they came out and grouped on the other side of the door, behind her. As the last of them left and she ticked off their names, she led them to a huge white bathroom with sinks, mirrors, and towel racks just their size. Once again, she provided them with a tooth brush as they entered, ticking off their names when they came out and groupped ehind her. She led the large group of children -- that now found themselves tired and ready for bead -- to the wing that had been Kuroko and Akiko's nurcury when they were children. she opened the white door to the wing and revieled a soft, fluffy carpet with chairs and toys locked up in toyboxes around the room. However, the first thing the children noticed was the fire place directly across the room from the door and... just infront and beside it, the back angeled to the corner left of the door... was a rocking chair.

Kaeda stood and turned to the children and smiled, rising from her chair, "Hello, children. I'm Kaeda." She said wamrly. There was a moment of silence before they all bowed and gave a 'Hello, Kaeda-sama.' in almost perfect unison.

"Good-Night, Grandmother." Kuroko said calmly (barily holding back a wicked smile) as she walked away, the pail faced children stairing after her. She stopped at the end of the hall and turned back to them, giving them a wink and a victory sign before disapearing around the corner.

The children turned back to Kaeda with a look of awe on their faces.

--

Kuroko's hand slid delicately on the banester, her other hand rased slightly, Akiko's hand resting on it and their fingers slightly lapsed together. Kuroko couldn't be less thrilled with Akiko's need for a dramatic entrance.

Akiko wore a white dress, simmilare to Kuroko's. However, Akiko reviled more skin and was highlited in a cream colour insted of white or black. Akiko wore no stalkings, insted she wore goddess snadels that wound all the way up to her knees and a long cream ribbon on her thighs (about where a garder would be) the tails of the large bow she tied there coming halfway down ehr calf. Her hair was tied high and in a 'sexy' way. Kuroko wasn't sure what a 'sexy way' was and wasn't sure she'd be able to tell if anything was sexy by looking at her sister.

Kuroko came to teh bottom of the stairs and gave Akiko a twirl, as instructed, while discreatly checking the clock on the other side of the room. Akiko strutted into the croud and began talking to the drooling boys.

Kuroko took this time to escape and take a tray of food from the kitchen.

--

"Higurashi-sama." Kuroko said with a bow, holding up the plater of drinks.

"Kuroko-chan!" Higurashi said hapily. Kuroko rose and nodded, "What are you doing?"

"Offering you a drink."

"Why aren't you with the others?" Izayoi asked, taking a flute of the whine.

"I preffer... diffrent activities." Kuroko said occwardly, dancing about her words carefully.

"Surely catoring isn't one of them." Izayoi laughed.

Kuroko shook her head, "No, but Akiko has band me from my office and I dare not leave her alone for to long to finish some work at the lab." she let out an exasperated sigh.

"What exatly do you do?" InuTaisho asked.

"I'm a medical examoner and new owner of... something..." she was blanking on the name of her inheirited bussness.

"She's not just any medical examoner!" A slightly tipsy Myoga said as he joined the conversation.

"Who let you drink, grandpa?" Kuroko asked, looking down at the blushing Myoga as he grinned madly. His cheaks always turned pink when he was drunk.

"My love! You speak so cruley to me!" Myoga slurred slighlty.

"No more than usual." she said, taking away his drink as he turned to InuTaisho.

"Master InuTaisho! Kuro-chan is one of the best medical examoners in all of Japan! Do you know how hard it was to get her?! She's not cheep either--"

Kuroko stepped on him midcentence, "You're not good drunk, grandpa." she said dully, "And you exagerate."

"Ah! That's right, Kagome was telling me InuYasha was complaining-- err, telling her about an aword you won recently." Mrs. Higurashi cherpped.

"I did?" Kuroko looked thoughtful.

"Yes, you did!" Myoga managed. Kuroko lifed her foot from him abently as he popped back into shape and began telling them about some award she'd won. Meanwhile, seh slipped away and began serving more people, taking Myoga's drink back to the kitchens where seh began warning every catorer she saw to not give the little bald man in suspenders any more to drink.

She continued serving until she relised that most of the parents were starting to get a little bored. She returned to teh kitchens, dropped off ehr empty tray and headed to the teens' party. It didn't take her long to find her red headed friend.

"Ayame-chan." She waved the girl over from a group of friends to a shadowy corner.

"Hai?"

"Ayame-chan, if you give an anouncement to teh adults, I'll introduce you to an ookami friend of mine... he's quite handsome, I'm told." She said smoothly.

"Alright." Ayame bounced as Kuroko nodded and lead Ayame to the area the adults were still in and told her what to say. Ayame worked in TV as a music interviewer for one of the top channels in Japan. Thus, she was good at addressing people, talking to people, and never got airy around stars.

Ayame casualy took a flute of white whine from a tray as it walked past her and tapped on in a few times to get their attention in a more formal way. It worked.

Ayame cleared her throught and spoke, "I hope you're enjoying your evening! I'd just like to anounce that the hottubs, jaucuzzs, and swimming pool are now open. The lovely ladies here" she rose an open hand to the line of maids that stood properly behind her, "will show you to them and answer any questions you have. Also, bathing suits have been provided and are asured to fit, compliments of the host and her new experimental fabrics. Please enjoy the rest of the night!" She said extra cheerily before turning and disapearing behind the dubble doors. Quickly she turned to her left and found Kuroko waiting. Ayame handed her the drink she still held in her hand, "Where is he?"

Kuroko smiled and took the glass, she swirled and drank it carefully as she lead Ayame threw the almost empty halls and to the main room where the teens were blasting music. They entered and Kuroko leaned agents the wall near the doors as she scanned the area, Ayame standing with her arms folded under her breasts (out of habbit) as she too scanned the area.

"There." Ayame's head snapped in the direction Kuroko was casually pointing with one of the fingers that had been rapped around the flute.

"Where?"

"The one with brown hair argueing with the silver haired one."

"Right." Ayame memorised what she could make out of his face in the dark light, distance, and crouded area.

"Just tell him Kuroko sent you. Tell him I wanted you to make some new friends scince you just moved here from the north."

"Alright." Ayame turned to her, "Thanks, Kuro-chan."

Kuroko didn't eknolage her, chosing to simply walk away and check up on the adults.

--

"Higurashi-san." The laughing group looked up to see the 'medical examoner' from before, "Your son, Souta, is on the phone." She said, kneeling next to the hot tube the group sat in. InuTaisho and Izayoi were sichuated on one side, Izayoi under his arm. While Mrs. Higurashi sat on the other. Sesshomaru sat on a custion near-by. Kuroko handed the black cordless to the woman in question after she dried ehr hand.

Kuroko stood as Mrs. Higurashi talked to the boy on the other end and simpy waited for her to finish, her eyes strate ahead.

"Kuroko-chan." Izayoi called to get the girl's attention. She only continued when Kuroko looked down at her, "Who did your mother hire to arange all of this?"

"My mother?" Kuroko looked puzzeled for a moment, "Well... I'm farely sure my mother has no access to a phone and, as you know, my father has taken a less honorable rought from this earth. I was the one to arange The adult and child part of the festivities. Akiko took care of the 'teenage' protion."

"Oh? You did this all by yourself? Is your mother overseas?"

"Yes, I did this on my own. However, my mother is not overseas, she is dead." Kuroko cought the hint of sorrow in her eyes and held up a hand, "Do not make me reget not lieing to you, Izayoi-sama, for if I hear any form of condolences, from one that is not the culpret, I will most sertainly regret it." She lowered her hand.

"Who was your mother?" InuTaisho asked.

"Her name was Ataka Zhong."

Izayoi's eyes widened slightly, "The great siren that-"

"If I may. It is a disgrace to our culture, as people of this earth, to consiter some one 'great' and ingrave them in history for doing something that anyone should not think twice about."

Mrs. Higurashi hung up and handed the phone to Kuroko. Kuroko took it and nodded to them, "Please enjoy your night." and with that, she turned and left.

"That name rings a bell." InuTaisho said, turning to his wife who was looking after Kuroko in something akin to amasement.

"Her mother... Her mother was the one that started the revilution of Peace. Her death was what brought about the laws that prohibbit demons from killing humans but keep their rights and governing!"

Mrs. Higurashi, who'd missed most of their conversation, turned to Izayoi, "Who's mother?"

"Kuroko-chan."

"Are you kidding me?" Izayoi turned to see Kuroko checking up on an old dragon cuple in one of the hottubes near by, she turned back to Izayoi, "Wasn't she also a prisoner of the wars for almost three decades?"

Izayoi nodded, "And she was the one who wrote the Equallity bill for the requirement of a 50/50 gender balance."

"I didn't know she married." InuTaisho stated, slight suprise in his voice as he recalled a meeting with her. She had walked all the way from the eastern lord's palace to his doorstep. She had been covered in dirt and her poor kimono looked worce off than a village woman's. But she'd stood outside his gates, singing and talking to the gaurds causually until he finally opened the gates. He remebered her smile. She smiled like she hadn't a care in the world when she finally saw him on the other side of the gates. She'd been the one to end the wars (even if the humans wouldn't admit it). Most, that hadn't been there, reasoned that she'd been able to do it because she wasn't human so the demons didn't simply turn her away, and she wasn't demon so the human's didnt simply kill her, and she wasn't hanyou with the long stigma. She was a siren, known for their beautiful songs and over all nutrallity to things.

But it wasn't her bloodline that got the lords to finaly agree... it was that damned smile of hers.

"Poor girls." Izayoi cooed, "They're orphends now." Izayoi seemed to be foregetting that they were almost four hundred year old, at least.

Should I continue? I like writing this story but if no one's reading it, I don't think it'll be worth it.
