Seven years...seven years had passed since the death of Naraku, and when the Shikon No Tama was made whole. The suffering had ended, wishes were fulfilled, and new paths were created...Inuyasha and Kagome fell in love, and were living together happily with their three children in the Feudal Era. Inuyasha had decided he had wanted to stay a half-demon, and they kept the Shikon Jewel with them.

Miroku and Sango had finally admitted how they felt toward each other after three years, and were now married with a two-year-old son, and a newborn daughter. Shippo was fourteen, and had matured over time and lived with his adoptive mother Kagome for the time being. Kikyo had been laid to rest after she realized Inuyasha had made his choice.

Everything seemed so perfect...and had changed except for one particular youkai. The elegant and forever beautiful, emotionless Lord of the Western Lands.

Sesshomaru was the same young, cold, and powerful demon he had been all his life. He hadn't changed much, neither had his retainer Jaken. After Naraku had died, he had returned to ruling the Western Domain, and fulfilling his dream of creating a vast empire.

All he ever did was give orders, settle people's pathetic needs, and pratice killing things with his claws or swords. He remained the same...nothing was different, except one particular girl who had been thrown into his life years ago.

Rin...

He had watched the young, bubbly naive girl grow into a sophisticated beautiful woman of fifteen before his eyes. It seemed just like yesterday when he had found the scraggly whelp begging to give him some sort of assistance when he was injured. But now, Rin had changed, but her undying love for her 'Sesshomaru-sama' had only grown over time.

Sesshomaru had pretended he had no care for such a 'worthless ningen'. But found himself lavishing her with expensive gifts and giving her whatever she wanted. She was not at all selfish, and was always walking around outside admiring the scenery, or helping servants with their chores.

Sesshomaru wondered why she would always smile at him, or try to make him watch the sunset with her...or why she was always being nice about everything, and everyone, treating even the lowliest man alive with pity and respect as if he were a king.

Sesshomaru knew deep within him, under that icy exterior, he had a soft spot for the girl and had grown fond of her. He even found himself growling angrily at any male that eyed her hungrily. He protected her, and was a little overprotective...and he didn't even notice at times.

Lord Sesshomaru sighed as he watched the beautiful teenage Rin from his balcony, sitting by the vast and glimmering lake that overlooked his brilliant castle. He blinked, his amber eyes transfixed on her.

Suddenly Rin looked up, her doe brown eyes sparkling and beaming at the taiyoukai, who's long silver white hair flew freely behind him. Sesshomaru stared at her for a long moment with his usual calm expression, but found his heart leaping when she called his name.

"Oh Sesshomaru-Sama! Why don't you come join me? The weather is so nice today!" Rin yelled gleefully.

Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow and wondered if he should take the offer. One side of him begged for it, while his demon side reprimanded him and told him firmly that he had no time to be dallying around with some human when there was work to be done.

He was silent and he hesistated before turning away from her. Rin sighed and all hope flew from her. She frowned, and stared at the youkai who was frozen in place on the balcony, with his back to her.

'Him and his pride! Why doe he have to be so stubborn? Why can't Sesshomaru ever enjoy himself? What is he doing anyway, standing there frozen like that?' Rin thought.

"Sesshomaru-Sama?" Sesshomaru clenched his teeth together. 'What are you doing? Why are you frozen here like this? Are you some idiot! She is just a stupid girl!'

Rin grew impatient and crossed her arms. "Hello? What are you doing? I asked you a question!" she immediatly gasped when she realized she had just been disrespectful to the demon lord.

Sesshomaru turned slowly around, and fear began to rise within Rin and she bowed her head low. "Gomen naisai! I am sorry milord! It won't happen again!" Sesshomaru blinked and he frowned, at seeing her look so pitiful like that.

"Hn...Rin it is getting late. Do not be out to long..." Rin looked up with surprise, and saw a small smirk on Sesshomaru's face as he walked back inside.
