A cold wind blew through the air in a dark cemetery where several people were gathered next to a sing grave.
A girl of what seemed to be 19 kneeled next to the grave, giving her respects to the dead.
She had long raven hair that fanned on the ground as she knelt.
She stood opening her teal colored eyes and completing the ceremony for her passed brother.
Her name was Kagome, and she happened to be the princess miko of the south.
Her closeness to her dead brother was immense, they were best friends, but as they grew they began to get closer in a bond where they were invincible.
But alas no man even youkai are invincible and yet again alas, Onigumo was killed while protecting his country.
As many of the men in the south seemed to lately. Kagome walked silently over to her mother who, stood in a crowd of people, blending into the crowed of sobbing and unhappy people, with a kerchief and a fully black tsukesage.
Her mother's dark brown hair wisped around her face sticking slightly around the wet tresses that ran down her face. 'Tears? Has mother been cry? She is so strong how could she break down?' Kagome thought to her self as she slowly began to realize what was happening.
'O-Onigumo he's d-dead!' she realized 'How can her be dead? My best friend, my brother, he's gone. I-I must not cry wait till I am alone, Kami's will I ever be alone?' She thought weakly.
As she neared her mother she said softly "May we leave mother? I need to be alone, very badly."
Her mother nodded and began to walk to the two horses that stood to the side of the gathering, pawing at the ground, in agitation, motioning Kagome to follow her.
Kagome nodded and walked over to one of the horses, her horse, Kodomo.
She really hadn't paid attention to where she was going, but her horse knew that he should follow his mare and did so.
Kagome so deep in thought did not see the youkai that crept onto the road in front of them, but her mother did.
"Kagome, were being attacked!" Kagome jumped and noticed the eight inu-youkai that surround them, and their horses.
Kagome was frightened but not scared. "What do you want?" Her mother asked them bluntly.
A taller one moved forward and Kagome guessed he was the alpha male of the pack that surrounded them.
"You will not speak so bluntly to us bitch!" he growled, but continued "We've come to take the Queen and the Princess of the south to the King of the west at his orders, will you come easily or will we have to take you both by force?" he asked.
"What exactly does he want?" Kagome asked the youkai who seemed to jump, as if he hadn't noticed she was there.
"He would like to discuss a proposal that he has for his youngest son and the princess" he growled at her, turning to her mother he asked "Well?" Her mother sighed and answered, " We will come, but how will we get there? Our horses will die before they manage the ride to the west" the Inu-youkai grinned and said " We will send the horses back, the king has granted us a pair of demon serpents for you both to ride, we will be there in less then a day" Kagome nodded and got off Kodomo and said her farewells to the horse and walked away from it and waited for what the inu-youkai would do.
He ushered them to the two serpents that appeared from the tree line. Kagome and her mother got on to the serpents that in turn began to rise.

Kagome was roughly shaken awake by the inu-youkai when the landed.
She jumped off the serpent and rushed to help her mother down.
When bother were down, the inu-youkai brought them to a large hall where there were four people sitting, two in large thrones one a woman and one a man, and two sitting slightly to the side two males sat in smaller thrones.
All three of the men had long silver hair, and one had two dog-ears.
The woman who was extremely beautiful had long black hair.
Kagome watched as the inu-youkai bowed low to the men and woman and then snarled when Kagome and her mother did not.
Kagome looked at her mother who nodded and Kagome dipped low into a bow for the man and woman while her mother, a queen, bowed slightly.
The man nodded and the woman smiled as both Kagome and her mother stood.
"Why have you brought us here?" she heard her mother ask the people in the room.
The male who looked to be the king stood up and said, "I would like to propose something between our kingdoms" he said in a monotone voice.
Kagome's mother stood rigid and tense and replied to his answer, "What kind of proposal?"
The man grinned and said, "I knew your husband when he was alive you see, and he and I were friends, he told me that when he died he wanted my to help you so that you may live through the upcoming war, I told him I would and that I would find a way to. I have, The north and east have joined forces and are planning to attack the south in a matter of months, the west offers you it's help but in exchange for your daughter who will become my sons mate." and motioned for the man with the puppy ears on his head to stand, which he did.
"His name is Inuyasha and when he was little a prophecies named Kikyo said that he would one day marry a princess of the south, and would cause the end of the war."
Kagome looked at him and bowed slightly and smiled, causing him to smile.
Kagome's mother sighed, she knew she would have to do this but she didn't want to lose her only daughter.
"I accept the west offer Lord Inu-Tai"
The lord smiled and his wife said in a more happy voice, "Then that is settled, would you both like to rest you must be exhausted!"
Kagome asked as a question appeared in her mind, "Excuse me, but could you direct to a bath of some sort? I have not been able to access hot water since my brother died." She said regrettably.
The women frowned and asked, "Your brother? Where were you found by the messengers?"
A single tear fell down Kagome's face as she said, "We were leaving the cemetery, where my brother was being buried."
The Inuyasha boy frowned and said, "I will take you to the bath houses if you wish, and I will also get you a change of clothes"
Kagome nodded and followed him as he walked out.
