So basically his still having issues with him self about it, which we might see in the chapter below. )

Chapter 7: The Threat and New Hope

Sesshomaru's golden orbs looked over the horizon as the sun began to rise up into the sky. His cool glaze then fell to the woman who lay asleep in his bed. Each time he was with Rin he found himself doing things he wouldn't usually do. For example, the other day Inuyasha and his family had once again come to visit. This time Lord Sesshomaru had found it easier to tolerate Inuyasha then before. Perhaps it was because Inuyasha had brought his newborn son with him.

On that day, the minute Rin saw the baby her body seemed to glow and Sesshomaru once again found himself looking at his Rin differently. Yet at the same time he found himself shaking the thought from his head. Rin was indeed very special to him, he on the other hand was still unsure if he could allow Rin to give him a pup. For she was just an ordinary human woman, she wasn't a priestess like Kagome nor was she a demon slayer like the other female friend of Inuyasha's.

`Still I can not deny the strange warm feeling that seemed to flood my chest as I watched her hold the newborn pup. Nor can I deny the strange feeling I felt as I looked down upon him.'

The great lord had become amazed by Takeshi, which was the pup's chosen name that was given to him at his birth. Raven colored strands of soft hair cover his little head and when he yawned and blinked up at Sesshomaru two stunning golden eyes shone back at him. The pup's ears looked human to Sesshomaru, however it was the jagged magenta striped on his tiny cheeks that truly caught Sesshomaru's attention.

It was a sight that Sesshomaru never expected to see in his half-breed brother's children. Remembering the day he met Takeshi, made him once again time about what his children might look like. Once again he shook this thought from his head. Upon hearing Rin shift in her sleep he thought that she was waking. His long slivery strands waved behind him as he turned on his heel to head back into his bedchamber.

He did not wish too, however something on the wind told him that he must leave Rin for a short time. Jakken, he knew, was to return to him any day now; Sesshomaru's senses could feel that there was a great amount of tension in the air. Which only meant one thing: great danger was at hand; a feeling that Sesshomaru did not enjoy at all.

Sesshomaru ran a hand through the soft dark brown hair of Rin's as he spoke to her.

"Are you awake, Rin?"

There was no response from her, not wanting Jakken to burst in and awaken her Sesshomaru placed a soft kiss on her forehead. Then using perfect tact and grace he quietly made it out of the room. Sesshomaru turned his head just enough to glance over his shoulder at Rin, as he whispered lightly to her.

"Take care, Lady Rin I shall return to you when I can."

Sesshomaru stood stone still as he waited for Jakken to return to him. There had been some trouble concerning some rebel demons. He only wished for Jakken to clarify it for him. Within a few seconds, Sesshomaru could pick up the high-pitched screeching of Jakken's annoying voice.

"Lord Sesshomaru, oh Lord Sesshomaru where are you master?"

It was then that the little green imp noticed his lord standing outside the castle gates.

"What is it Jakken? What news do you bring me?"

The imp started to shake nervously as he began to speak to his lord.

"Its horrible mi lord, the rebels they are forming an attack on the Western Lands. Whatever shall we do? Surly they are attacking because they see you as weak."

Sesshomaru's golden eyes narrowed as he continued to look over the horizon. He then turned gracefully on his heel to face Jakken.

"Is that how you see this Sesshomaru? Do you see me as weak, because of taking Rin, a human, as a mate?"

Jakken felt trapped what ever was he going to do? What was he going to say to his lord?

"No, no of course not mi lord, you are the strongest demon that I know. It's just that other demons are talking my lord."

Sesshomaru coldly brushed off Jakken's words.

"I see."

Jakken watched as Sesshomaru started to walk out the castle gates. The little imp started to panic as he his lord started to leave.

"My Lord Sesshomaru, where are you going? Wait for me my lord."

Sesshomaru turned his cold golden eyes to Jakken as he spoke.

"Jakken, you are to stay here and protect Rin. At all costs! Do I make myself clear?"

Jakken couldn't help but shiver at his lord's words.

"Y-Y-Yes Lord Sesshomaru, I live to serve you my lord."

Without saying anything else, Sesshomaru disappeared into the distance. He would deal with this problem as quick as he could. Something deep inside of him told him not to stray far from Rin. Why however, he wasn't sure. The only thing he did know was that he couldn't waste time.

`Be safe Rin. I shall return.'

Later on he knew he would come to regret, leaving his beloved Rin. For now he had to focus on the battles ahead of him he couldn't let softhearted thoughts of his mate cloud his thoughts. After throwing thoughts of Rin into the wind Sesshomaru was quickly on his way into a fierce battle he was sure.

Rin awoke to something cold and wet being laid on her forehead. As she slowly opened her eyes, she was greeted by the warm silver eyes of her good friend Mina. Mina then noticed how Rin was questioning her with her cinnamon eyes.

"Lord Sesshomaru came to see me this morning. He said you felt like you were becoming feverish and I was to make sure that you remained comfortable until he returned."

Mina then noticed how sad Rin's eyes had become. She then seemed to get a far off look as if she was thinking about something, which Rin truly was.

_Flashback_

Sesshomaru gracefully rolled out of their bed and slipped into a robe as he walked out toward the baloney, Rin's eyes watched as he did all this in silence. Had she done something wrong? Unsure of why her lord had left their bed suddenly, Rin climbed out of bed as well. She then pulled on a lilac silk robe, as she slowly walked out toward Sesshomaru. Rin kept her eyes on her lord as she spoke.

"Sesshomaru my lord, did I do something to upset you tonight?"

There was no answer from Sesshomaru as he continued to look out into the starry night. It almost seemed like he was thinking about something. Not wanting to upset him any more then he already appeared to be Rin remained silence, not wishing to disturb her lord.

Sesshomaru kept replaying the night from three days ago in his mind. It was because of that night, that he had not touched Rin in two whole days. He was completely furious at himself; he Sesshomaru, the great lord of the Western Lands had lost himself in the arms of his mate and had lost control over his body. He could have hurt Rin or worse he might have killed her. Never in his lifetime had he ever lost control, it was very unsettling.

The scent of roses and jasmine drifted to his nose, alerting him to Rin presence. He then spoke in a calm and cool voice.

"No Rin, it was nothing you did."

Sesshomaru struggled to speak these next words.

"It is something that this Sesshomaru did. Forgive me if I was too rough with you the other night. I was not myself; I would also like to inform you that I shall be gone for a few days. There are matters east near the Western Borders that I must deal with. I will return shortly after I am done dealing with the rebels, so there with be no need for you to worry."

_End of Flashback_

Rin then realized that her Lord Sesshomaru had really left. He had told her that he would return to her soon, but why did she feel like last night was the last time that she would ever see him? She winced at how sore her body was, a mischievous smile spread over her lips as she remember why her body was sore this morning.

Her lord had taken her on the soft wings of ecstasy last night. It was almost as good as the pleasure he had given her three and half nights ago. On that night Rin had felt Sesshomaru lower a wall that he had always seemed reluctant to lower. His actions had excited her causing her heartbeat to quicken. Never before had her lord excited her body in such a way. She then remembered her lord's actions last night, and she realized something. Sesshomaru had raised the same wall again; everything he had done last night had been for her pleasure only. Not once did she remembering him letting her give him as much rapturous pleasure as he was giving her.

"He did it, for me so I would have something to remember him by. Yet he never let me give it back to him."

The soft airy voice of Mina broke through her thoughts when she spoke to her.

"Rin my lady is everything alright?"

Rin gave Mina her trademark smile as she spoke to her.

"Yes, Mina everything is fine."

Ignoring the slight pain in her inner thigh, Rin did her best to steady herself as she walked toward the ivy-covered balcony. Once outside she noticed the deep red that seemed to be filling the sky. Then a bright light seemed to be flying toward the castle. Not liking the direction that the moving beam of light was headed Rin backed away as quickly as she could.

"Mina, something isn't right here."

Jakken's frantic voice could be heard right before; he pushed through the heavy doors.

"The castle is under seize we must hurry and get the lady into hiding."

Mina nodded as she went to Rin's side and took her hand, only to have Jakken screech at her once more.

"Hurry it up you fool there is no time to waste, we must hurry."

Taking both of Rin's hands, within seconds they were gone in a cloud of pink smoke. Jakken sighed for one moment,

"If anything happens to Rin, Lord Sesshomaru will most likely kill me and not bring me back."

Rin did her best to catch her breath as she ran to keep up with Mina. There were times she was sure that she was going to faint yet she kept pushing herself forward.

"Mina, where are you taking me too?"

"To the Lord's secret treasure chamber, it is the safest place to be. If it's where bouts are found then you will know that Jakken and I have failed in protecting you my Lady."

Rin tried to tell Mina that she didn't wish to be left alone in the strange room. However she was never given the chance, for Mina was gone in a blink of an eye. The minutes turned into hours as the sounds of screams and explosions were some how carried to Rin's ears. There were times that Rin was sure that she had felt the castle itself moan with pain as its walls shook.

"Sesshomaru, where are you? I need you."

Sesshomaru smirked as he removed his poison claws from the chest of a coyote demon.

"You were warned that you would pay for your foolishness."

The Lord of the Western Lands didn't even flinch, as a rough and calm voice spoke to him from behind.

"He may have had to pay for his foolishness, but so will you. You'll pay with something that is precious to your cold beating heart."

Sesshomaru couldn't believe what he was hearing. Was this low level demon threatening him?

"Are you threatening me Yayoi, you of all demons should know that I do not take your threats to heart. If you have a foolish follower, it makes me wonder how foolish the leader is."

There was a deep and powerful growl the bellowed from within the lion youkai. As he glared at Sesshomaru with his clover honey eyes he spoke.

"Now would not be the time to mock me Lord Sesshomaru. For as we are speaking I have men putting a permanent end to the lives inside your kingdom. I wonder though, will the lord of the Western Lands, even weep over the corpse of his dead mate? Surly the high cold Lord cares nothing of a mortal human."

Sesshomaru knew that he could not lose control. Yayoi had done one thing wrong he had attacked his castle, and made Rin a target. A plan for which he would die for very soon, now Sesshomaru understood the bond between InuYasha and his miko named Kagome. She was not a weakness for his brother, as much as she was a source of strength.

"Yayoi, you should know me better, I care for nothing. However the only thing that this Sesshomaru cares for is your death, so die you pathetic excuse for a demon."

Sesshomaru drew Tokijin as he dashed forward using his speed and agility to his own advantage. Several of Yayoi's men didn't even get a chance to defend themselves, as the light from Tokijin disintegrated their bodies. However somehow his true prey had managed to eluded him. He had been a decoy; Yayoi had never really been there. Sesshomaru's ever so stoic eyes bled red, right before they turned back to their golden color as a strange feeling pulsed throughout his body.

Panic and udder fear seemed to pulsing through out his entire body. He then felt a surge of energy, right before total exhaustion washed over his body. His right shoulder burn with a strange fire as the great lord tried to place what was the cause of his pain. Fear and need suddenly pulsed through his body once more as his senses locked on what was causing him pain.

"Rin."

Yayoi had escaped him and had gone to find his Rin. Sesshomaru's eyes bled red once more, he let out a growl of annoyance and frustration as he spoke.

"If one hair is out of place on Rin's head, I shall end your life painfully Yayoi."

Sesshomaru's facial features seemed to shift and change, as he then became a glowing sphere of light as he took to the sky. His one wish was to make it in time.

Rin's breathing was quick and rapid, as she pressed her body against the stone wall in the chamber. The heaving of her chest caused some of her cleavage to show as she tried to calm her breathing. She needed away to protect herself, yet she was unfamiliar with all of the weapons in inside the room with her.

She knew from her lord's teachings that some weapons of demons could rip the soul from a human's body. Once sure she had control over her fear, Rin calmly waited to hear news from Jakken or Mina.

The minutes soon turned to hours, we she heard Mina's voice outside of the heavy metal door. From the sound of it she was speaking to someone.

"What is it that you protect in this room demoness?"

"This is apart of my lord's castle, it is my duty to protect it and that is what I plan on doing."

Rin then heard the male demon laugh as he answered Mina.

"Then you shall die protecting it. Now let me though."

Rin blinked back a tear when Mina screamed and then heard her fall to the ground. She truly was alone now, for surly Jakken and Ah-Un had met the same fate as Mina. The door to the chamber suddenly turned red, as Rin tried to work on a plan. She knew now that the demon knew she was in there and that he meant to kill her.

Rin winced and cried out as something sharp pierced her right shoulder. It was then that she noticed a huge lance had came right through the chambers door. Out of instinct Rin pressed her left hand over the wound. The door was starting to give soon there would be nothing standing between her and the demon.

"Come on out my Lady, I only wish to introduce myself."

Yayoi smirked to himself as the metal melted away giving him entrance to the room. His honey eyes roamed over the room until he found Rin leaning against one of the walks.

"I see the stories are true, though a human you are you are also very beautiful. It is no wonder that the Great Lord of the Western Lands fell in love with you. Perhaps I shall have a taste of your lovely flesh before I kill you."

She couldn't believe her eyes a massive lion demon stood only inches away from her. His claws were wrapped around the very lance that had some how managed to injure her. A regal mane of a tawny brown grew around the demon face. Panic started to build up in her system once again. What was she to do, she had nothing to fight back with, but she didn't want to die. Rin's cinnamon eyes widened as a strange new energy seemed to flow through her body.

Yayoi took a step back as a blue violet aura started to pulse from Rin's body. Then dozens of demon weapons started to move and come flying toward him, but how she was human, why did she possess such a demon aura. Just as the maces, swords, and scythes pierced through his armor, Yayoi was able to utter one last sentence before he past from the earth.

"A child…she is carrying…the child of the Lord Sessohmar…u."

Yayoi's skin started to bubble and dissolve as if acid or poison had been poured on the weapons.

The large white demon form of Sesshomaru could be seen tearing through the masses of what was left of Yayoi's rebel army. He literally dissolved several demons with the acid of his saliva. Many of the demons had fled screaming for their lives, the wind then shifted allowing him to pick up an all too familiar scent. The smell of blood that he knew well, changing back to his human form.

Sesshomaru took off toward his bedchamber; there he found the severed body of Jakken, his head as well as his arms and legs had been removed from his body. Unsheathing Tenseiga he swung it over Jakken's body he then quickly turned on his heels and left. He had to find Rin; he had to make sure that she was safe.

Upon reaching the east chamber that held his treasure room, Sesshomaru noticed Mina's broken body. He stepped over her body as the scent of Rin's blood flooded his sense. Her body was slumped against the far wall. Sesshomaru's liquid gold eyes widened as he saw the blood that was pooling down from the wound in her shoulder. He then noticed Yayoi's body inches away from Rin. Poison vapors rising up from the wounds in his body. A fierce wind whipped through the chamber as he came closer to Rin's body, making his silver tresses wave wildly behind him.

"I am here now Rin, you're safe."

Lifting her onto his lap, like he had done oh so many years ago went they had first met. Sesshomaru watched as her eyes fluttered open revealing those same smiling eyes.

"I knew you would come back to me, my lord."

Sesshomaru's body stiffened as Rin's body went limp as she lost consciousness. He watched as her chest rose and fell as she slept, then while holding her close to his chest he screamed out in anger. The force of his growl was so great, that it carried out into the surrounding forest. At this point however, he didn't care all that matter now was seeing that Rin was cared for. She had been injured because of him, because he had failed to see that she had been Yayoi's target all along.

Tenseiga pulsed as he walked by Mina's body, feeling the need of the sword Sesshomaru unwilling and gently laid Rin on the ground. He then unsheathed Tenseiga and passed it over her body.

"Mina, get up now Rin needs tending too, she has been injured."

Not once did Sesshomaru look down at Mina as she pulled herself off of the ground. His mind was focused on one thing, taking care of Rin and figuring out where the strange yet familiar demon aura had come from. Mina followed her lord quickly down the hall; she then noticed the claw marks and scratches that now marred her great lord's body. However, she knew better then to ask Sesshomaru of his wounds for the Lady had to come first. Especially if the slight energy she felt coming from Rin off and on, meant what Mina thought it did.

"Could the Lady Rin, be giving Sesshomaru the one thing that could tame him? A child, is it possible for a human to carry a half breed child as strong as this one is?"

Mina looked over at Yayoi's dead body; there was only one person that she knew, that could produce poison like that. Her Lord Sesshomaru, so how was it that Rin had managed to make it some how. She may have been dying but she could still smell, and that great aura she had felt had come from Rin.

Did Lord Sesshomaru know did he know that Rin was carrying his heir inside her body? Did he know that Rin carrying a pup as strong as this one was could kill her? She prayed that it would not. However, only time would give her that answer.
