Last Time:

 

“Hey there old woman, there were times that I was sure that you were going to die on me. You never did though, you surprised me every time.”

 

Brushing the snow off of the three stones, InuYasha continued to talk to the person that lay beneath it.

 

“Sera, is growing up so fast she's really starting to remind me of myself and it scares me. Take care of Shiro and Kohaku for Miroku and Sango I know you will. Just as I know that you know that I'm moving my family away from the village. Something is coming, I'm not sure when or even what it is, but we can't stay here anymore. I will keep you, Kohaku and little Shiro safe. Kagome placed a special barrier around the three of you; to make sure no one disturbs you. Good-Bye for now old-woman.”

 

As InuYasha walked away from the three stones that marked the resting places of three very special people. The wind blew erasing any traces of his foot steps. As the gentle winter wind blew his long silver hair to the side. InuYasha looked behind him, he could almost see Kaede, Kohaku and Shiro standing there smiling at him.

 

`You'll live again some day Kaede I'm sure of it.

Chapter 13: Winds of the Future

The snow crunched under his bare feet as he made his way back toward the village. Feeling something prick the skin on his neck, InuYasha slapped at it.

 

“It's always a pleasure to be squashed by you Master InuYasha.”

 

Hearing that familiar voice InuYasha looked down to see the little flea float into his hand.

 

“Oh hey Myoga, long time no see so where have you been hiding?”

 

Myoga narrowed his little eyes as he looked at InuYasha.

 

“For your information Lord InuYasha I have not been hiding. I have been gathering information for you, regarding the eternal seal ritual. I managed to find one of the scrolls that belonged to your father; it was hidden inside one of the forbidden rooms of Izayoi Castle.”

 

“Okay so tell me, what did it say?”

 

Myoga bounced up and down on InuYasha palm as he continued to tell him what he had read.

 

“The ritual must take place on the night of the full moon, and there must be a mixing of your blood with theirs.”

 

InuYasha wrinkled his nose up at the old flea.

 

“Are you telling me that Miroku, Sango and Kazuo have to drink my blood? That is just sick.”

 

“Now, now Master InuYasha, I never said they have to drink it all they need to do is absorb it; which will cause time to move in the same pace as it does for you and Kagome.”

 

InuYasha looked skeptically at Myoga.

 

“What aren't you telling me old flea?”

 

InuYasha continued to eye Myoga.

 

“Nothing, nothing at all I swear that is everything that I know.”

 

With a quick parting gift of InuYasha's blood Myoga then quickly disappeared.

 

“Lord InuYasha, these human's are special to you aren't they?”

 

InuYasha looked over to see Bankotsai watching him.

 

“Yeah so what if they are, are you threatening me Bankotsai?”

 

Bankotsai bowed quickly in front of InuYasha.

 

“No Sire, I would never do that. Now that I know how important they are to you I shall never allow any harm to come to them. We are almost ready to leave. Shippo and I shall come back for the rest of your things later.”

 

Cursing under his breath InuYasha stomped into the hut. His claws were digging into the palms of his hands.

 

“Miroku, Sango I have to mark you guys.”

 

Sango was the first to speak.

 

“Wait a minute InuYasha you said we had two weeks to decide.”

 

InuYasha's temper was starting to boil.

 

“I know what I said Sango damn it. It's just that I forgot about the barrier my father placed around the castle.”

 

“Look all it is, is a little scratch. I really don't have time to argue with the two of you. We need to get moving, Kagome is back at Sesshomaru castle getting ready to deliver his kid. So I would like to get there before dark.”

 

Walking over to Miroku, InuYasha gripped him, up near his collarbone making two of his claws to pierce the skin.

 

“Ow, hey you did that with out me telling you that you could.”

 

“Damn right I did so get over it.”

 

Before anyone knew it a little voice piped in.

 

“Mommy can I have a drawing of a sword on me just like daddy has?”

 

All three adults turn to see Kazuo staring at them with is big brown eyes. Miroku then looked over toward his collar bone, was a drawing of the Tetsusegia, with something beneath it.

 

“I don't think I understand all InuYasha did was prick my skin.”

 

“That is correct Master Miroku, however there was a small amount of InuYasha's blood on his claws, not to mention, my lord's desire for you to pass through the barrier. The sword is InuYasha while the staff is you.”

 

Bankotsai then looked at Sango and smiled lightly.

 

“Lady Sango, this does not change you it merely tells demons that you are under the protection of Great Dog General Family. See your husband's sign has appeared as well.”

 

Sango looked over at Miroku and saw that a picture of Miroku's staff was behind the leaning sword. Shippo had awaked and was now sporting an image of the Tetsusegia on his arm, along with one of his crying mushrooms.

 

“This is awesome InuYasha, so now I can come and visit you and Kagome any time?”

 

InuYasha just smiled.

 

“That's right squirt any time.”

 

InuYasha then walked over and knelt down in front of Sango. The sadness in his eyes made tears come to her eyes.

 

“Sango, I can't take you with me if you're not baring my mark. I have no intention of marking Kazuo without marking you first. I bet yours is going to be the prettiest.”

 

Giving in at last Sango lowered her kimono away from her right shoulder. With Sango InuYasha used three claws and brought them down slowly on the upper part of her arm. InuYasha smiled to himself when he saw Sango's Hiraikotsu with small rose vines wrapped around it, they were reaching out and wrapping around a staff. The image of InuYasha Tetsusegia was leaning over the two like a shield.

 

“See I told you yours was going to be the prettiest one here.”

 

Kazuo giggled as he looked down at the art on his arm. There was an image of his father's staff and his mother's boomerang, while the image of his uncle's sword stood in the back.

 

“Uncle Inu, how come mine is so different from my daddy's?”

 

“That's an easy one, your mom and dad are the ones that protect you and I'm the one who protects them.”

 

This seemed to make the little boy happy as he ran outside to find Kirara.

 

“Now that, that is over let's get moving you guys.”

Sesshomaru came back to his senses as he felt Rin let go of his hand, he then watched as Mina dabbed her forehead with a wet cloth.

 

“You're doing fine my Lady, just keep breathing.”

 

Rin nodded and then griped the bed sheets as another pain came. Her breathing hitched as she did her best to breath through the pain. Rin's cinnamon pools watched as Sesshomaru lifted her hand into his once again.

 

“I said that I would stay here until InuYasha's mate arrived, so I intend do as I stated.”

 

A few seconds later Kagome entered the room, with a young half-fox demon that appeared no older then fourteen. Kagome then bowed quickly to show how sincere she was at being late. Sai followed Kagome's actions as well.

 

“I'm so sorry Rin; I never planned to be away for as long as I was. All of this snow kind of took us by surprise.”

 

“It's okay Kagome-sama really, you're here now and that's all that matters.”

 

Sesshomaru looked over at Sai but never questioned Kagome about the young woman.

 

“I will leave Rin in your hands now Kagome.”

 

He then leaned over and placed a kiss on the top of Rin's head.

 

“I won't be far Rin.”

 

Turning on his heels Sesshomaru started to make his way to the doors. When he stopped and spoke to Kagome.

 

“I expect that you will take great care of her and my pup.”

 

“Of course I will Sesshomaru.”

 

He then stepped out into the hallway. As the door drifted closed he heard Rin cry out.

 

“I need to push, I need to push.”

 

Sesshomaru glanced out the castle window at the snow covered ground below. Every thing around him was changing; there was only one thing that Sesshomaru didn't want to admit. The mere thought almost seemed impossible, and yet he knew that there was a change in him. Whether or not that change would make him weak; Sesshomaru had yet to find the answer to that.

Looking under the covers Kagome could see that she was indeed ready to push for the baby's head was crowning and was very visible.

 

“You're doing great Rin, I need for you to keep breathing and then give me one good push.”

 

Rin nodded as she gripped Mina's hand. Then with labored breaths Rin pushed for Kagome. Kagome just smiled over at the young woman.

 

“You're doing good Rin, just take a few more good breaths for me and then push ok. You're really doing great.”

 

Rin cried out as a stronger contraction came, she wanted to push but she could hear Kagome as well as Mina telling her not too. Sai continued to wash Rin's brow clean of sweat, Rin heard Kagome tell her to push and then she felt something slip free of her body. Yet she didn't hear any crying, she turned two worried eyes toward Kagome who just smiled up at her.

 

“It's a girl Rin, you have a beautiful daughter.”

 

The pup had small ringlets of dark brown hair and two tiny ears set out from the top of her head.

 

“She's beautiful Kagome.”

 

Mina couldn't contain the smile as she looked at the small child that was now in her arms. As the baby girl yawned Mina caught the sight of two golden eyes looking up at her. She then handed the pup to Rin, who with Minas help started to nurse her.

 

While Rin was nursing her newborn daughter, Kagome and Sai busied themselves with cleaning Rin up. Kagome then glanced at Rin's abdomen which still had a roundness too it.

 

`It looks like we're going to get another surprise.'

 

She then looked up as Rin handed her daughter to Mina once again.

 

“Take her to meet her father, and tell my Lord that I wish to name her Nishi that is if that name pleases him.”

 

“I shall do that Lady Rin.”

 

Mina then started too walked toward the doors.

Sesshomaru had seen his little brother and his family arrive a few minutes ago. There was no doubt that as soon as his human friends were comfortable and his children were in bed for the night. He was sure that InuYasha and his new advisor Bankotsai would make an appearance. It had been about thirteen hours since Rin had first gone into labor, and he had yet to hear any news. Just then the door to their chambers opened, and Mina walked out holding something in her arms. Walking up to her lord Mina bowed to him before she spoke.

 

“Lord Sesshomaru, Milady would like for you to meet your daughter. Lady Rin has also given her the name Nishi but only if it is a name you approve of.”

 

Mina continued to watch Sesshomaru as he stared at the newborn in her arms. She could tell by watching his eyes that he did not completely approve of the two small brown ears on top of his daughter's tiny head.

 

“Perhaps if milord were to hold his daughter he would have a better understanding of her.”

 

“Yeah Sesshomaru, go on and hold your daughter?”

 

“You will remember little brother that you are a guest in my castle I do not take orders from you.”

 

Without glancing at his daughter Sesshomaru started to walk away.

Kagome's heart ached as she saw the fear that was in Rin's eyes, as another strong contraction came Right after the other.

 

“Kagome-sama, I understand that there is another baby coming; but my water broke several minutes ago and still the pup hasn't come. Something has to be wrong.”

 

“Lady Kagome-sama, I believe Lady Rin-sama is right the scent of the baby is strong.”

 

There was a little more blood with this second baby it was almost as if he knew it wasn't time to come out. Kagome could see the pup's head, but he was in the wrong angle to be born.

 

“Rin I'm going to need you to be strong for me. This is going to be a lot more painful I'm going to have to turn the baby.

 

`Though I just might need InuYasha's help I can't see Sesshomaru helping to keep Rin calm.'

“Would it be alright if I held her Mina?”

 

Mina just smiled as she bowed to InuYasha.

 

“Why of course, I'm sure Rin would want her to know you as well.”

 

InuYasha grinned as his niece yawned and then blinked as she slowly opened her eyes to look up at InuYasha. Noticing the two golden eyes she had InuYasha continued to smile, looking down at her InuYasha also noticed two dark blue stripes on the sides of her little neck.

 

“You know kido Nishi is a perfect name for you. Oh and don't be too hard on your old man. This whole father thing is pretty new too him. Give him sometime and I bet he'll never want to let you go.”

 

Walking back over to Mina, InuYasha handed his new little niece over too her.

 

“Here you should take her now. I would have thought Kagome would have come out by now. Oh well its not like there's anything I can do. Not with all of this snow everywhere, this has been one hell of a winter.”

Turning the baby wasn't turning out to be as easy as Kagome first thought it would be; there was only one thing that kept running through her mind.

 

`I need more help.'

 

“Sai, go and find InuYasha for me and hurry.”

 

Sai gave Kagome a look of curiosity.

 

“My Lady how could Lord InuYasha of any help?”

 

Kagome sighed as she looked at the young half demon.

 

“I'm hoping InuYasha could offer encouragement to Rin that Sesshomaru seems to have run from.”

 

Rin spoke to Kagome through the pain. “Its okay Kagome My Lord will come to me when he his ready. I am after all just a human, and he is so much more.”

 

Kagome couldn't believe what she was hearing.

 

“Rin I…”

 

Several seconds later Sai came rushing back into the room with InuYasha at her heels. She then took her spot beside Rin's head as she continued to dab sweat from her brow.

 

InuYasha gave Kagome a nod as he took Rin's shaky hand into to his warm steady one. He then gave it a gentle squeeze.

 

“You're doing great, Rin.”

 

Rin winced as another contraction came a wave of dizziness hit her as InuYasha reminded her to breathe slow and easy. Once she did as he had instructed the dizziness passed.

 

“Sesshomaru isn't coming back is he InuYasha.”

 

“He had some business to take care of, so I came instead.”

 

Sai looked over at InuYasha, but remained silent.

 

Rin pulled in a slow breath and let it out as Kagome turned the pups head. Just as Kagome was finishing turning the pups head, a strong contraction came and Rin squeezed down hard on InuYasha's offered hand.

 

Kagome smiled as she looked up at Rin.

 

“You're doing great, and the pup is almost here. Give me one last good push.”

 

Rin just nodded to Kagome, all of her energy was just about gone. She was sure that one last push was all she had in her.

 

A few seconds later an ear splitting cry filled the castle.

 

Kagome blinked her eyes as she looked down at the newborn boy pup that was now wrapped up in a warm blanket. He looked like a mirror image of his father. Then again there wasn't too much that surprised Kagome anymore.

 

Tears of happiness flowed from Rin eyes as she looked at her newborn son and then over at her daughter. He may not want everything to due with his daughter now, but she knew that Sesshomaru would come to cherish her. Rin then turned her head to the right to look at her son.

 

“Sessue that shall be your name little one, it is the name that your father chose before you were even born.”

 

The pup's only responds to his mother's words as a small yawn.

Sesshomaru was unsure have how to act; he had just heard from one of his servants that he now also had a son. The fact that there were two of them that had the stoic lord stunned but Jaken had just told him that his son Sessue was a mirror image of himself. For the rest of the evening, Sesshomaru stood and watched the snow continue to fall again. Once the castle had become silent and no one but the guards were awake, the Lord of the West headed to the West wing of the castle to see is larger family.

 

As he stood in front of the doors the scent of roses and cinnamon hit is nose followed by the scent of sage and dragon's blood and lilies and sage. The scent of blood and other scents that had hung in the air earlier were gone. Pulling the chamber doors open and then closed behind him, Sesshomaru walked in and slowly made it toward the large cradle that InuYasha had helped him make.

 

Sesshomaru's body relaxed more as the scent of roses and cinnamon became stronger; telling him that Rin was no longer in bed.

 

“They are breath taking aren't they my Lord?”

 

“Should you be out of bed Rin, after having such a stressful day?”

 

Rin gave Sesshomaru a small smile as Nishi started to wiggle in her sleep.

 

“I'll be fine, I'll have time tomorrow to rest more. Besides from the looks of things Nishi is about ready for a changing and a feeding.”

 

Sesshomaru watched as Nishi gave a small grunt cry of discomfort. Then as if picking up on his scent for the first time, she turned her bright golden orbs toward her father. Rin continued to rock her as she made her way to the changing table that InuYasha and Miroku had fashioned for her.

 

“Rin…”

 

“Sesshomaru, you will have to hold her sometime or another. You've held Sessue quite a few times already this evening. I know she didn't come out looking like you may have wanted, but she is still a part of you too. Sessue is a half breed too you know even if he doesn't look it.”

 

Sesshomaru's eyes continued to watch as his newborn daughter suckled on her mother's breast.

 

“This Sesshomaru is afraid that perhaps he would injure her. She is smaller then her brother.”

 

Rin couldn't help but smile at the awkwardness in Sesshomaru's voice.

“Well you held Sessue with your right arm, so just do the same thing with Nishi. I'll be here with you, the bond between a father and son is strong, but the bond between a father and daughter is even more beautiful.”

Three Weeks later, Lady Akako gave birth to a beautiful daughter, to which Lord Ringo named Akina in the hopes that the snow would soon melt and bring with it the spring. Akina had the bright sapphire colored orbs of her father, while her hair mirrored that of both of her parents; which was an odd golden color with black streaks. While a small purple sun adored her left cheek.

 

Lord Ringo looked away from the window, at once sensing Sesshomaru presence. With Akina held safety in his arms he bowed to the Lord of the Western Lands. Upon lifting his head up Ringo saw that Sesshomaru was holding his now three week old daughter Nishi in his good arm.

 

“Good afternoon Lord Sesshomaru, it would appear that your Nishi has a regenerative power.”

 

Sesshomaru's cold golden orbs looked over at where the stumped of his left arm use to be. Now though it wasn't just a stumped. Over the three weeks that Nishi had been here in this world, she had some how started to rebuild the cells in his left arm. His arm was renewed all the way to his wrist. To give her lord his dignity Rin kept his newly forming appendage bandaged.

 

“Yes, it would seem that she does, though being a pup of Rin and I this Sesshomaru, is not surprised. You're daughter Lord Ringo is very stunning.”

 

“As is yours Lord Sesshomaru, perhaps one day our children can help strengthen our alliance?”

 

“Perhaps, they will have, you come to a decision regarding Lady Akako.”

 

Ringo's voice was grim when he answered.

 

“Yes, I have in a few weeks when I return home my father has agreed to erase her memories of me and everything that ever happened with her, myself and my family.”

 

Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow at hearing this.

 

“Does this also include your newborn daughter?”

 

“It does, I did not come to this decision lightly. However her actions here in your home have disgraced me and her as well. Takai has been giving her a tonic to make her sleep. When she awakens at home she will merely think that she has had a miscarriage of her new husband.”

 

“You have already married her off to someone else. I see that you waste time with nothing. I'm guessing that you already have some one who will become your daughter's mother as well.”

 

Though Ringo's face remained serious t here was a strange sparkle in his blue eyes.

 

“I have indeed, my family for not had lasted long in this world, if we did not know how to move quickly. When Akako awakens she will find herself mated to my brother Manzo. He has wanted her from the first day she was mated to me. She I believe will help my littlest brother to grow up, but the greatest gift will be the one he gives her. Manzo will be able to love her in ways I never could.”

 

Ringo's blue sapphire pools looked down at his sleeping daughter.

 

“As for who will be her mother, due to the blue eyes that Akina shares with me she also shares them with Yei. So she will be her mother, Yei has agreed to do this for me and for Akina. Takai and Sumo have been helping her; they both have been giving her a tonic that will make her milk flow come in quickly. It will be as if Yei had given birth to her herself.”

 

Through Sesshomaru was slightly surprised by Lord Ringo's actions. Then again it really wasn't any of Sesshomaru business what the Southern Lord did. Just as long as Lady Akako could no longer bring harm to his Rin. He would have to make sure that Lady Takai wasn't dangerous either.
