Chapter one- A New Pair of Wings

 

 

The old fox demon threw up her hands in defeat “I QUIT! I can't keep up with the pup any better than her own parents!” She yelled toward the woods in which her young two-year-old ward ran off into. The old fox looked in-between the mansion, her master and the father of her ward, Lord Jingo, owned and the woods. `This is not good!' She thought recalling what he said last time her ward ran off and she returned empty handed.

She growled agitated and took off at a run into the woods. She followed the pup's scent, a mix of jasmine, fresh rain, pine; there was also the unmistakable slightly lingering scent of her mother's milk. Lady Ariana, Lord Jingo's mate, had just managed to get the little hanyou pup weaned and now to eat red meat. It had taken longer than most pups but she had finally succeeded, much to the little hanyou's dismay.

The old fox heard a soft child-like giggle to her left. She spun around searching, hoping, praying that she'd find the fox-angel that was being an annoyance. She heard another giggle and turned in the direction it came from spotting a flash of white and black. Another giggle, the bushes in front of the old fox shook madly then a small fox-angel pup came running out looked up at her a second the took off back in the direction of her father's home.

The old fox gave a sigh before turning to watch the pup go. The pup resembled her father a lot more that any normal hanyou pup would. She almost looked like a completely full-blooded Fox-Angel. She had long black hair, blue/green eyes, two small white black tipped fox ears, and a pair of white and black tipped angel wings.

The old fox closed her eyes and shook her head sadly `She's so beautiful yet she probably will never mate with a true fox-angel. Poor thing she's the last of her kind and she doesn't even know it…. Now with her father cursed the way he is and it being a generational curse when he dies then….' She left the last part unfinished as she turned and followed her ward to her father's mansion.

Kagome woke up dazed. She looked around confused still caught up in the odd dream. She raised a hand to her head and gave her head a slight shake to try and clear the slight fog left by dream. In the process her hip length raven black hair fell over her shoulder and around her like a dark cape.

In the last two years Kagome had almost completely changed from an innocent childish school girl to the down to earth warrior she was today. She no longer wore her school uniform but specially made kimonos, with slits on the side from the bottom up to the waist, and hakamas pants they were made out of the same Fire Rat material that Inuyasha's was but instead of the material being a red color it was a soft blue lined in a silver. She also now carried a sword as well as her bow and arrows. She'd gone to Totosigh in hope that he would make her a sword like Inuyasha's but he refused. Saying that even with all of her miko powers that she would not be able to handle a demon sword of that magnitude, However he did agree to make one out of a large unbreakable ruby colored stone. The sword allowed her to channel her miko powers into the blade to cause more damage. She also managed to convince him to create her a few throwing daggers and an uchiwa (Japanese fighting fan). When the fan was closed it looked like a normal, everyday, twelve inch decorative folding fan, but it was far from it. The folding parts were made of the same ruby stone that her sword and daggers were, and sharpened on both sides. Making it was also just as deadly as either.

Kagome slowly stood up picking up her sword and Uchiwa placing her sword at her side and her fighting fan in a pocket inside her Kimono, her throwing daggers were already inside pockets in her kimono sleeves. Quickly looking around and making sure that everyone was asleep especially the tree in which Inuyasha was sleeping in. Seeing that all were asleep she left camp not making a single sound that might wake the others.

Slightly and quietly she walked through the darkness of the night not even her clothes rustling. Unconsciously she shifted her direction so that the wind did not carry her scent back toward the camp sight. Nearing the darker part of the woods she took one last suspicious/guilty look backwards toward her sleeping friends. Sighing she shook her head at her own foolishness the others didn't know about this. Now for the past two weeks she'd been leaving at night to go off on her own for several hours at a time. She paused long enough to close her eyes and spread out her miko. The first thing her powers encountered was a spell quickly she muttered a spell that would counter act it and hastily withdrew her miko powers back into herself. Just as she did her appearance began to change.

It was exactly two weeks science it had begun. Her canine teeth had grown out and sharpened. Her well kept human nails were now long sharp and very deadly claws. Her human ears disappeared and two white black tipped fox ears appeared on top of her head to replace them. Her once blue/gray eyes now were a vivid shade of bright blue/green.

When it had first stared to happen she'd completely freaked out and ran straight to Lady Kaede. Kaede had helped her calm down then showed her how to create her own personal spell that would hide her demonic characteristics and make her appear just as she did before she began to change. Kagome felt bad for deceiving Inuyasha and her friends but she wasn't sure that if he knew what she was turning into that he wouldn't accept her anymore. After all he only kept her around because she looked like Kikyo and if she didn't anymore. She didn't know if he would allow her to stay with him and the others anymore.

Kagome had come to except the physical changes of her body because her miko powers seemed to except them as if it was all natural. Abruptly a sharp pain swept over her back specifically her shoulder blades. She stopped dead in her tracks and fell on her knees. Her arms stretched out hands flat on the ground supporting the weight of her upper body. She gritted her teeth to keep from crying out as another wave of pain washed over her back. She closed her eyes trying to block out the unbearable pain. She knew that there was absolutely no drought that if she screamed Inuyasha would hear her and come to investigate and considering the state that she was in that wouldn't be good.

Squeezing her eyes shut tighter as she felt her shoulder blades change. For a split second she felt something push against her kimono then the almost unbreakable material ripped and gave way. Then just as abruptly as the pain had begun it was gone. She sat there a second panting tiring hard to take a deep breath. Slowly she turned her head to look backwards at her back and what she saw was exactly what she had hoped she wouldn't find………….
