Chapter One: Demon Court! A Human Mate?!?
Monday Morning: Demon Court
It was about four a.m. in the morning, everyone was still sleeping. All except those who didn’t need a drop of sleep. A group of black cloaked shadow figures gathered in a rather large sanctuary, where they all discussed important matters concerning the male demons destiny and their life beyond that. The group of black cloaks gathered around a large circle oak table. There were about twenty to thirty demons there, and only seven of them were of the demon court.
The demon court was the ancient demons from thousand years ago, that chooses the destinies of others, making it easier for demons to get around, easier for them to find an honest mate. The seven demons of the demon court had their own individual power, that made the choice for choosing the mates of all the demons. The leader was a dog demon from the west, who mated with a human after his first mate left because of the strange feelings that was growing inside of him for the human woman. He removed the mated mark from her shoulder and promised to keep her safe, and to protect their son.
He was the one who decided that every demon needs a destined mate. Because most demons stays with their eternal love, while others fall out of the desire to be with their mate, and soon mate with another, causing pain and problems to the demon court, they are the ones that must fix the damage that others create. Every male demon is giving a eternal mate, who they must be with forever. Demons don’t mix breeds, meaning a dog demon can’t mate with a cat demon, it changes the cycle of mating. The only mix breeds that were allowed were the one that involved a demon and a human, but there wasn’t much of those. Demons with cold hearts desired those that they can dominate, while others want what they want.
The mates of those that are destined to be with the other is give a burn mark on the palm of their right hand. The mark signifies their place in the world. When they come face to face with their destined mate, they will know, for the mark will burn, pull both of the destined lovers to each other. Only the women receives the mark, the male knows by instinct who is theirs and theirs alone. There’s not many human women that receives the mark, because of how proud a demons pride is. Half-breed’s also will know by instinct who their mate is, but their mate will always be human, a half-breed has never been destined to be with a full-fledge demon, it wouldn’t mix well.
The demon court consulted with each other, choosing the best candidate for the male demons. They knew how the males acted. The leader of the demon court, Inu Taisho, who has two son’s of his own, one which is a full-fledge dog demon and another who is a half-breed, the son of his human mate. Not many mating marks have been removed, it wasn’t allowed, only unless it was necessary to remove it.
Inu Taisho’s son were different from the other male demons. His youngest son, the one who has human blood coursing through his veins, was almost a child. He acts without thinking. His eldest son was full of pride. Hates humans. Has no respect for his brother nor his step-mother, in which he believes will never be his mother figure. The pride and hatred his son holds for humans made his choice on his destined mate a bit easier then the others. And the way his youngest son acted made it impossible to find the right mate for him.
But that was it. His youngest son needed to be mated to the human women that can rid him of his child actions. And the perfect mate for his eldest son would be the one that can soften his heart and rid him of his pride.
The demon court agreed with him on everything. They gathered in their sanctuary to discuss the matters of the few demons that gathered with them. Two of the demons was the powerful son’s of Inu Taisho, Inuyasha, the half-breed, and Sesshomaru, the full-fledge dog demon who’s hatred was toward all humans. The sanctuary was filled with dark faces and dark robes and cloaks to cover their identity.
There was many pictures and paintings and portraits of the ancient demon lords and the ancient consul. Royal vases circled around the walls of the room. Silk tapestries hung from the back walls and from the front ones as well.
Demons circled the table, waiting for one of the consuls to speak for the group. A shadow figure stood from his chair, pulling down the hood of their cloak, allowing his long green hair flow down the side of his back, a soft growl purred as he looked at the men in front of him, “We’ve gathered today to start the discussion about your destined mate.” All the men looked at him, one glaring at the other, except for the shadow figure in the back, who stood against the wall. “It is time for you all to find your now. By your instincts you will find the one you were destined to be with.”
Silence spread through the cracks of the room. Another figure stood pulling down the hood of his cloak as well, “The consul has discussed about how you will find you mate, most of the girls are in high school or just now starting college. There are over ten high class high schools that these girls go to and only three nice colleges.”
The one with the long green hair looked at the other’s around him and said, “It’s mating season, the human women will be in heat, while the demon women are searching for their destined mate. You must track yours down at the following schools we provide you, you must protect them at all times, watch over them, make the connection with them, let them feel your presence.” He said as he looked over to the dark figure right across from him. He was son of the leader, Sesshomaru. He was the ignorant demon that cared for no one, and hated the human race. That’s why the consul destined him to be mated to one.
Inu Taisho looked around the table, then to his two sons, then back at the group of young demon males, “We will give you the address and whatever else you need. In three months you must report to us to let us know of your progress. By the end of the school year, you must be ready to mark them.”
All the demons nodded their head except Sesshomaru who stood there with a cold stare looking out toward everyone. All the demons got up and went to leave, the consul gave the demon’s some important papers, while Inu Taisho stayed to talk to his two son’s. Inuyasha let down his hood when the consul and other demons left. His two doggy ear stood up, twitching as the cold air swept through the air. Inu Taisho sat down at the table and looked at his sons. Sesshomaru pulled off the hood of the cloak and stood against the wall across from the table.
“Here is the information you need.” he pushed the papers over to Inuyasha and kept Sesshomaru’s next to him. “You two are both fortunate, both of your destined mates goes to the same school, and they are friends.” Sesshomaru growled at the word destined mate. He didn’t feel the need to have one. “School starts in two hours. I enrolled you both yesterday, I have your schedule’s and a few other things for you as well.”
Inuyasha looked at his father and said, “Aren’t we too old to go to school father?” he nodded his head then shook it.
“You both look the age of a college student, who are around twenty or twenty-one years old. The school knows about the mating season, they have no choice but to enroll you guys. You both are seniors, which will be the last year of high school.” he paused when Sesshomaru looked away, “Sesshomaru, you have no other choice but to find her, to find you destined mate. You can’t rule your lands or take over the company if you are not mated.”
Sesshomaru stayed quiet, Inu Taisho handed him the papers, which he reluctantly took. He looked at the papers and growled. He walked away, not saying nothing to his father nor waiting for his brother either.

Monday Morning: At School
It was about 6:45 a.m. now, everyone was just now arriving school. School started at 7:15 a.m. which gave them a half hour to get what they needed, or talk to their friends before the bell rings. There was a group of girls standing by the lockers, they were laughing and hugging each other. As each of them greeted one another with a hug, one of them was off in her own little world just daydreaming. Something felt weird today, everyday always seemed to bore her, but today seemed a bit…exciting.
Her name was Rin Dearily. One of the smartest girls at Shikon High. She was also one of the prettiest girls as well. She was just a normal high school student. She was in her senior year. Everything seemed to go fast. It was just yesterday when she first walked through the halls nervous, not knowing anyone except her two best friends from pre-k, Aria Somei and Suya Suko. They have grew up with each other for so many years, they had no secrets between each other. Aria was a dog demon from the east, she moved to Tokyo when she was four, and Suya was wolf demon from the north, she lived in Tokyo since a month after her birth.
Rin looked at her friends, there were three other girls that hung out with them. Kagome Higurashi, Sango Monkeri, and Ayame Yunarinkka. Ayame was also a wolf demon from the north, she was the daughter of the tribe leader. Kagome and Sango were just normal humans like herself, except they weren’t as smart as she was. Rin giggled as she saw Aria jump up screaming about the tournament that was coming up very soon.
“Can you believe it, I’m going to be in the Battlement Tournament? Miss Fuoji is letting me fight for once!” She cheered, her voice full of excitement and joy. She looked at the poster and screamed again. The tournament was in three weeks. But the practices were every day at three till eight. She looked over at Rin and said, “Rin aren’t you going to be in it as well?”
Rin looked up at her friend and nodded her head, not saying one word. She was a master at archery. So was Kagome. Sango was mastered in demon slaying with a huge weapon. Suya more into the katana’s and daggers. Ayame liked to battling with just her claws and her special abilities. Rin flipped her long black silky hair out of her face as she smiled at her friends.
She looked at them as she said, “Miss Fuoji asked me to join the tournament last month. I have practice after school until nine tonight. My aunt and uncle isn’t very happy about me staying so late.” Rin’s parents died ten years ago. There was a burglary when she was seven, the bandits that did it killed her mother who was pregnant with her little sister, and killed her father. Rin watched them get slaughtered, it haunts her in her dreams. Her aunt Mimi and uncle Kane adopted her and took her in when no one else would.
She looked down at her wrist, it was still sore from practice yesterday. Her hands were red. Looking down at the burn mark on the palm of her right hand. She had the mark since she was born. Her aunt told her stories about the women blessed with that burn mark. It signifies their destiny as a demons mate. Rin felt safer with the mark on her palm, it kept male demons and humans away from her.
Aria looked at her then smiled, she looked at her palm as well. She had the same mark as Rin, except Rin’s mark was shaped as a crescent moon, hers was a star. Suya looked at them both. She too had the same mark, hers was shaped as a circle. Rin was the first human they have ever seen with that burn mark, until Kagome came to their school, she was blessed with the same mark.
Suya looked at Rin, putting her hand on her shoulder, before she opened her mouth to speak, “Rin you know it’s mating season for the demon males right?” Rin nodded her head. It’s the first mating season that has came, the last time mating season had came was a few weeks after her parents death, she was only seven at the time. She was too young to mate at the time. “You do know you are at the age to be mated now? Your destined mate is going to come for you.”
Rin nodded, showing she knows, “I know…” Her soft voice answer. Her voice was like heaven itself. “I’m quite aware of it…” She was still unsure of if she wanted to meet the man she was destined to be with for the rest of her life, to live immortal like him.
Kagome stopped them from talking any more about the situation, “Hey guys did you hear the news about the new students?” Everyone shook their heads, “I believe there are five for six of them.” Rin just stared at her as she spaced out on the conversation as she turned her head to a black car pulled up into the school parking lot. The car was one of the new Ferrari’s, a Ferrari Fiorano to be exact. Kagome turned her head as she watched a red sports car pull up next to the Ferrari. Her eyes went wide as the owner of the red sports car got out the car. His two doggy ears poked up and twitched at the jabbering of the students conversation, “He’s gorgeous.”
Rin giggled as she watched the owned of the Ferrari open the car door and step out. She gasped as he shut the door and clicked the lock and alarm button on his keys. His long silver hair blew in the wind as his golden eyes put her in a trance. He had interesting features on his face and on his wrists. Two reddish-purple strips went across his cheek and a blue crescent moon blessed his forehead. She licked her lips as she turned away from him and opened her locker. Putting her books in the locker, grabbing two binders, her math book, and two pencils with a extra eraser.
Aria and Suya opened their locker as well, but turned when two other cars parked next to the other two. One of them was green and the other was yellow, they were both sport’s car as well. But they looked very expensive. Ayame shook her head as she waved her hand in front of them, they were so lost in their own world that they didn’t realize or hear the bell ring, “You guys do know were going to be late to class if you two just stand there lost in some trance.”
Aria giggled, knowing she was silly for getting so excited about some guy, she turned back to her locker grabbing what she needed and slamming the locker door closed. Rin did the same as Kagome started to walk to her class. Sango was running behind her. Kagome and Sango had the same first period, Rin started to walk the other way, she had math first with Aria and Suya, Ayame had a college course on nursing first while Kagome and Sango had history.
Rin didn’t wait for her two friends, she just wanted to get to class before she lost herself in some trance that the pair of golden eyes put her in. Unfortunately she wasn’t able to escape those golden eyes. When she walked into her classroom and sat down in her sit in the middle of the class room, third row in front, she saw him walking in right behind her. She gasped as he gave his papers to the teacher then taking the seat in back of hers where to the teacher assigned him to sit. She felt like throwing up now.
Sesshomaru looked at Rin in front of him. Cursing himself for having to sit near a human girl, what was worse his demon senses pulled him closer to her, she can’t be! he growled causing Rin to turn around. Her hazel eyes were locked with his as she hurried and turned back around. Aria who was sitting in the seat next to his was smiling, she could feel the connection between them two. It was a strange feeling that connected them together, she doubt Rin was able to feel it, but by the look on Sesshomaru’s face, he knew about the connection, she is the one I am destined to be with. This is father’s doing. Damn… he thought as he stared at her from the back.
She wasn’t ugly for a human, but her kind was disgusting to his taste. But she was his, and if she was his then he must protect her and keep other males away from her. His eyes turned to human that walked in and sat right next to Rin. She smiled, but scooted away from him. His short cut brown hair brushed against his shoulders as he attempted to place his arm around her shoulders, but she flinched away in disgust. He wondered if she felt the pull.
The teacher turned to her students as she sat down at her desk, she had papers to grade, and there was a test today. Rin studied all night after she came home from practice, she didn’t get any sleep until eleven.

Monday 11:35 a.m.: Lunch
Lunch came soon after the first three classes. Rin was alone at the water fountain in the middle quad, the fountain was huge, Rin sat on the edge of the fountain reading a book. Her friends had to do other things. Aria wanted to practice for the tournament, the competitors needed all the practice they could get. So Rin just sat at the fountain just reading. She didn’t even notice the pair of golden orbs staring down at her from the roof. Sesshomaru kneeled on the roof staring down at his future mate, he wanted to watch over her. He jumped onto the heavy tree branch across from the building,
Turning his head to the right he saw his brother talking to some wolf demon. He was one of the demons at the meeting this morning, he turned his head back toward the girl below him as he watched that same human that was in his first class walk over to Rin. With a soft growl he watched as the human sat down next to her.
The human cleared his throat as he looked at Rin, he pushed back her bangs as he said, “Rin, I was wondering, there’s a huge party Friday, I was wondering, would you like to go with me? You know as my date?” Rin smiled, she put her hand on his shoulder as she shook her head and said.
“I’m flattered you would ask such a request from me Hitoshi, but I have to turn you down.” He looked at her puzzled, she raised her right hand to show him her burn mark, “It wouldn’t be right Hitoshi.”
He was confused at first. But the marked proved she belonged to someone. “How do you know that’s not just a birth mark?” Rin frowned as he continued, “That proves nothing, you belong to no one!” he raised his voice, she got up in shock.
“It proves everything!” she said as she backed away from him, “How do I know it’s not a birth mark?” she said more in a statement then a question, she repeated his question just to answer it soon after, “I can feel the pull. I don’t know how to explain it, but you’d be very wise to stay away from me!” she exclaimed as she turned, closing her book, she started to walk away when she bumped into someone.
No one notice the demon jumping out of the tree and standing behind Rin. It was Sesshomaru. As she bumped into him she dropped her book and started to fall over. Sesshomaru caught her before she hit the ground. Setting her down on both feet, she turned to face him, looking up she gasped. Its him. Was what she was thinking. He bent down to grab her book, she kneeled down to pick up the spilled papers when her hand came in contact with his which made her flinch away. His soft skin brushed against her before she flinched her hand away. She had a strange feeling that she felt when their hands touched.
She grabbed the rest of the papers and stood back up as he gave her back her book. Just as he turned to walk away she said, “thank you!” she exclaimed then walked away. As she walked away she felt a sudden pull. It was like a gravitational pull that was pulling her to her destiny. And she felt the burning sensation of a weird rush of mixed emotions. She turned to look back at him, but when she turned to look at him he was gone in thin air.
With a sudden gasp she turned to go to her next class which was gym, with all her friends. Walking to the gym which was a few feet away from the water fountain she had been sitting at. There she saw Aria outside talking to Suya, she was laughing and softly, playfully hitting Suya in the arm. Rin rushed over to the locker room and over to her two friends. Aria looked at her then smiled as she looked across and over to the boys locker room where she found the new guys that had just arrived today walking into the boy locker room. One of them was Sesshomaru walking with Inuyasha far behind him running.
Rin didn’t notice him walking into the locker room, she just left, not saying a word to her two best friends. Walking into the locker room, Rin walked down to the far lockers on the back wall to the left, her locker was the fifth one down. Aria’s locker the one on her left and Ayame’s was on the right of hers. Suya’s locker was right next to Ayame’s and Sango’s was the one on the other side Suya’s. Kagome’s was the on next to Aria’s.
The girls stood by their lockers as the teacher came rushing through her office doors shouting the activities were doing today. The activity chart read that the girls had to run two miles around the track, then they had to choose a sport to play. All they basically was doing was running and participating in another sport. Rin looked the teacher then nodded her head in understanding.
When the teacher went walking back into her office the girls in the locker room got dressed. Their gym uniform was short and a tank top, which most of the girls customize their shorts and their shirts, so they can be more comfortable, which the teacher didn’t mind. Rin and her friends did, they had a seamstress sew in all their names in their shirts, and to make the shorts short then what they were. The shorts were a bit short, but not short enough to show their butts.
The girls got dressed in their black short and white tank top. Rin put on her black sports bra and pulled up her shorts. She grabbed her shirt and looked at her friends, they were doing the same exact thing she was. When they were ready they didn’t wait for the teacher nor the other student to meet at the track. The teacher was behind them walking with a clipboard in her hand, a Fiji water, and a pen to take roll, to see who was absent and who wasn’t.
Rin lined up in her line and stretched as she looked over to the open doors on the other side of the court, the boys locker room. She rolled her eyes as she kneeled down to tie her shoes and to stretch her legs. Aria was jumping up and down, throwing her fists in front of her jabbing back and forth, she was boxing. Rin smiled as every one else started to stretch as well. Every week when they had to run, they would always race, to see who was the fastest in class. For the last four times Rin won, she was the undefeated champion. Some of the guys also joined the race to try to beat the girls, but not even the guys could out match Rin, not even the demon’s.
Mrs. Faorii, the gym teacher looked at her girls, after taking roll she lined the girls up at the starting point, she blew her whistle to see the girls dashing off onto the track. The guys saw this and started to run after them. Rin at first jogged, to keep her energy building up, but when multiple of the girls ran past her, she decided to speed up, not even noticing one of the guys were right behind her speeding past the crowd in one second. Rin looked at who it was then gasped as she started to run faster, it was Sesshomaru.
Sesshomaru ran past Rin then slowed down to see if she would catch up to him. Surprisingly she caught up and ran past him. She made herself run past the teacher, finishing her first mile, then going for a second time. Sesshomaru used his demon speed to run faster and get further away from her. Rin shook her head as her eyes fixed on the track. She was ahead of the group, she was behind Sesshomaru though. As she ran around the track once more and went to finish her second lap Sesshomaru stopped which gave her the advantage to get past him and finished her lap before him.
She stopped next to the teacher who gave her a Fiji water. Quite thirsty she grabbed the bottle and thanked her, taking a large drink from the bottle, she placed the water down on the ground and turned to look for her friends. They rushed through the track as well. Aria came running toward her as she did a front flip in midair, landing on her feet. Rin shook her head as Aria looked at her. Suya and Ayame was walking over to Rin while Kagome and Sango went to get some water.
Suya put her hand on her best friend’s shoulder and said with a laugh, “Wow Rin, you beat us again!” She exclaimed before saying, “it seems you have competition in racing.” She looked over to Sesshomaru who was talking to a boy with short cut black hair. His hair rested on his shoulders, while his blue eyes glistened. Aria bit her lip as she said.
“He’s cute, don’t you think Rin?” she was talking about Sesshomaru. Rin blushed and turned, “I take that as a yes, but his friend is…umm….gorgeous!” She turned to look at the guys once more, Sesshomaru had disappeared somewhere, while the other guys was just standing there. He took off his shirt as Aria’s eyes went wide. A smile crept up on her mouth as she found herself being pulled over to him. What was strange to her was her body wasn’t moving, but it felt like she was being pulled to him by a powerful force. That same burning sensation Rin felt had started to occur with Aria.
Her smile never faded as she continued to look at him while saying, “I think I found my destiny!” She almost screamed. She could feel a connection being made, even if they had never talked, that connection she had seen and felt with Rin building with Sesshomaru was building with his friend. “I need to know him, and fast.”
Aria used her demon speed to run over to him. She came face to face with him a second later. Her long light blue hair covering her face, she flipped it back as she smiled at the man in front of her, with a soft giggle, she says, “I’m Aria, your new here aren’t you?” He nodded his head as her smile never faded.
“I am, the name’s Mizu.” He said with a smile. She looked into his eyes, and felt like she was in some trance. She stared at him for a second as the burn on her palm seemed to fade with the pain. She looked down, it was throbbing, and pulsing every second just standing here with him.
As Aria continued to talk to Mizu. Rin was practicing her archery skills on the furthest court toward the west. She could feel eyes glaring at her, but whenever she’d look back to see who it was no one seemed to be there. She shook her head in disbelief as she steadied her bow and arrow and pointed it to her target just as she went to shoot the arrow someone comes behind her causing her to let the arrow go flying somewhere else. She turned around to find Hitoshi behind her smiling.
“Hitoshi…what are you doing here?” she asked not even looking at him in the eyes, “I mean, what are you doing over here?” She asked once more, rephrasing her question in a more simpler way .
“I wanted to talk to you!” He exclaimed, attempting to grab her hand as she turned from him, “Rin, are you afraid of me?”
Rin shook her as she looked out to the field in front of her. There she noticed her arrow hit a tree three feet away from the actual target, “no, you just frightened me.” She turned around to look him in the eyes, “I could have hurt someone with that arrow. Why did you sneak up on me?”
“I truly am sorry Rin, I just needed to talk to you.” Rin nodded her head allowing him to continued as she raised her bow to point toward her target once more. “You turned me down earlier because of that mark, what if that mark wasn’t there. I mean, what if there was a way around it? Would you then consider coming with me?”
Rin let go of the arrow. The arrow hit the target as she turned to face Hitoshi and to grab one more arrow, “There is no way around, even if there was the answer would still and will forever be no. I don’t see you as anything more then a friend, I’m sorry, but if I’m destined to be a mate to a demon, then so be it, that’s just the way it is.” She grabbed another arrow as he grabbed her arm to turn her toward him, “W-what are you d-doing?”
“Just listen Rin. I’ve had feelings for you for so long, I’ve waited for the right moment to ask you out and you turn me down, which in my case is rather rude. I just wanted one chance with you, and if that don’t work out I will leave fate be.” Hitoshi snarled, he looked down at Rin’s hazel eyes fog up with tears, his green eyes glazing at her perfect pink lips, he leaned down to get one small taste when she snatched her arm away and slapped him.
He rubbed the side of his cheek, “What is rather rude is you! Your being rather rude, if my fate is to be with a demon, then I will allow fate to lead me to my destiny.” she shook her head as a few spoiled tears rolled down her cheeks. She backed away from him, shaking her head, “There was never going to be a chance, because whatever feelings you have for me, don’t mean nothing to me, because I don’t love you, I have no feelings toward you. I’m sorry…this will never be…” Rin backed away once more then turned around and ran away from him in tears. Dropping her bow and her arrow she ran past her friends who wants to chase after her, but knew she just needed to be alone for the time being.
Rin ran into the locker room in tears. She ran over to her locker to change. As she changed that same burning sensation was pulling her toward her mysterious mate she had yet to realize was hers. Not putting any thought in the burning emotions that were ready to burst out of her. As she changed back into her regular clothes she slid down the lockers and hid her face in her hands.
She had enough of waiting. Every relationship she could have had ended badly because of her being connected to a demon by that mark. All she wanted was to know who he was. That would give her a bit of joy. She had a hunch it was the demon that caught her when she bumped into him and fell. But he gave her a look of hatred, as if he wanted nothing to do with her, but then he put her in some trance she was unable to get out of.
A half hour went by since her emotional breakdown. All the girls were returning from outside. Aria and Suya found Rin in the bathroom reapplying her make-up. Kagome hurried up and got dressed then rushed out of the locker room. She was meeting some guy by the fountain. Aria talked to Ayame about Mizu and how she think he’s her destined mate, the connection they made was strong, but she told Suya that the one Rin and Sesshomaru made was even stronger.
Rin has ignored all the comments her friends made. When the next bell rang she hurried out the locker room, refusing to wait for her friends, even though they all had the same class to go too. Rin got to her next class, sighing as she sat in her seat which was all the way in the back. The next bell rang to let every one know there was only a minute left to get to class or they will all be late.
Aria walked into the room with Mizu, she was telling him about the school and all that. Rin smiled as she took out her phone and texted her.
To: Aria Somei
Message: Sorry I didn’t wait, I’m just really upset.
Time: 1:04 p.m. December 2, 2009
Aria got the message and smiled as she looked at Rin. Her seat was directly in front of hers. She texted her back as she teacher walked into the room. Quickly she sent the message then stood up straight in her seat. Mizu sat right next to her which excited her even more.
From: Aria Somei
Message: Its no problem Rin. I can understand that. I have so much to tell you when school ends.
Time: 1:05 p.m. December 2, 2009
Rin opened her sidekick and looked at her message and giggled a bit. She put her phone away and took out some paper for notes. She stared at the board for a while before she saw a familiar figure walking into her class. She swallowed a lump in her throat as she turned her glare from the doorway and over to the board. She wrote as much of notes as she could, but her glare kept going back to him.
The similar burning hit her as she sneezed causing the whole class to look at her. Aria turned to look at her then saw the man behind her. She smiled as she turned her glare back to the teacher explaining the notes and what will be on the next test next week.
The class got to work after everything was explained. The class had only started a half hour ago. Rin hurried up and did her work, looking over it and checking it multiple times, before turning it into the teacher. Taking out her phone she saw she had a new message.

Rin shook her head as she looked over to Aria. Thinking of something to write back when the teacher called her over to her desk. The phone had rung and the office wanted to talk to her. Rin quickly put her phone in her backpack and went walking out the door with a pass in her hand.
Walking down two hallways and down a flight of stairs Rin reached a odd looking building with huge black letters that spelt out FRONT OFFICE. In bold. Rin walked into the office and gave the pass to the lady on the phone, she was talking about the mating season, a few parents were concerned that the mating season would affect their child’s education. Rin was called into a small room on the right where she came face to face with her councilor, Ms. Hakama.
Ms. Hakama looked at Rin as she sat down in her chair. She had Rin place her hand on her desk so she could examine the burn mark on her palm. “Rin dear, does it burn?” Rin nodded her head, “Have you been feeling a pull, like gravity was pulling you toward someone?” Rin nodded once more. “Have you found out who he is?” Shaking her head Rin stared at her as she examined the mark, “The mark looks like it’s fading.”
Rin sat there confused, not knowing what to say, “Is that good?”
Her councilor laughed as she nodded her head, “Yes my dear, it is very good. It shows that you know of his existence, but you don’t know him yet do you know who he is just yet. The mark is fading because of the connection both of you are making.”
“Connection?” Rin sat there looking at her confused out of her wits, “What connection?”
Ms. Hakama let go of her hand which caused Rin to look at it, “There are two connection’s you can either make. Your soul and his demonic instincts are aware of each other which will form a bond between you both, and the other is when you make the verbal and physical connection. You must know who he is to make such a connection, the physical is when you accept both of your fates and take just a step closer which will make a stronger bond between you both before the actual mating.” Rin nodded, partly understanding what she meant. “I have a feeling you might know who he is. Do you?”
Rin shook her head, “I can’t be certain, but there is a pull that guides me to him. I don’t understand it.”
Ms. Hakama laughed softly, not to make fun of her, but because of her lack of knowledge being a human and all. “When a demon is searching for his mate they feel the same feeling of a pull as well. Its easier for the demon women to find their mate, because their demon can sense them, but humans, they have to feel the painful pull. The mark is telling you that if you don’t go to him quickly you will continue to endure the pain until you go!” Ms. Hakama knew a lot about demon cultures and demon rituals and the mating ceremonies. She read books and plus she experienced it as well, she too is a demon that had go through it. “Don’t fight it, it’ll hurt more if you do .”
Rin nodded her head as she got up from her seat, “thank you Ms. Hakama!”

Monday Evening: After School
After returning to her other class and finishing her last two periods Rin head out the school doors and waited for her friends by their locker. She couldn’t stay after school, her aunt wanted her to go home to watch her cousin for a few hours and to cook dinner, she wouldn’t be home until eleven and her uncle was away on business.
The girls rushed to the locker, exchanging hugs and going their separate ways. During Rin’s last class Kagome had told Rin all about one of the new students whose name was Inuyasha Tenseiga. And she said she had found her mate, the pull for her wasn’t strong, but the connection was. And Inuyasha admitted to her that he felt the same for her. So he was driving her home after school. Aria had asked Mizu on a date for Friday night to go see a movie and dinner, she wanted to know him, to see if he was her mate as well.
Suya had found one of the other new students attractive and got to know him in her last class. His name was Takashi Montezuma. He was a wolf demon from the far south, he came to Tokyo to find his mate just two years ago. He also explained to her that one of the other new students Sesshomaru Sadamoto had been looking for his, even though he hates that fact that he has to have one. But he wants to protect her, if she was his then he must protect his.
Ayame also met the new student Koga Motosaki. He was part of the brown furred wolf demons in the west. He had been friends with Sesshomaru Sadamoto, and had promised to help find his soul mate. But Sesshomaru said he found her which is a human girl, who looks better then what a normal human is suppose to look like. Koga had came to Tokyo around ten years ago to find her. Ayame felt his constant pull when they were close to each other. So they plan on going out next week to get to know more about each other, so when it comes down to the mating ceremony it wouldn’t be awkward or weird.
As the girls gave each other hugs and went their separate ways, Rin grabbed her books she needed for the loads of homework she had then walked to the other way away from the school. Her house was about three blocks from the school, it normally took her about ten minutes to get home, depending how fast she walked. Or it would take a shorter amount of time if she went through the dark alley across her house to get home. That was the fastest way to get home.
Rin walked down the sidewalk, placing her earphones into her ear, and pulling out her phone. It was exactly 2:45 p.m. she had to pick up her little cousin at four, which gave her a hour to get some homework done without her cousin bothering her. As she walked down the street she saw the black Ferrari pull out of the school parking lot and down the street opposite from her.
Ignoring the constant stare of her eyes looking back at the owner of the nice car she continued to walk.

Monday 2:45 p.m. Sadamoto Estate
After school Sesshomaru waited no time, he hurried and left the school, not looking back until his appearance tomorrow morning around the same time. He wondered if it was necessary for him to have to go to school just watch the human mate he was fated to be with. He hated the idea that his father would even place him with a human. Loving a human, caring for a human, even mating with a human is below his standards and will make him weak. The only reason he looked out for her and protected her was because she was destined to be with him, and no mate of his was going to be weak. But by the looks of her she wasn’t weak at all, she was strong for a human girl, she was fragile and emotional, but she had strengths of her own. For one she was taking archery as a class course, she was also in a AP class, which was a advance class.
When Sesshomaru left the school he saw Rin walking down the street opposite of his. What he wouldn’t have gave to pull over and drag her into his car and tell her her place in his life, her place as his mate. But in time she will know her place. He couldn’t risk breaking the connection, the connection he hated, the one that he has to make with her to make their bond stronger.
Driving down the street, and passed four or five stop lights, he pulled into huge silver gates that read SHADOW RIDGE ESTATES in bold. These estates were the biggest in Tokyo. Driving past a few other gated estates he pulled into the golden gates with SADAMOTO ESTATE on the left. The estate was the biggest in the neighborhood. Golden gates surrounded the area around his home. A nice small lake with a waterfall was outside in the back. A nice huge fountain was in the middle of the drive way making a circular driveway.
He parked his Ferrari next to his father’s Infinity. After taking the key out of the ignition and getting out the car he put the alarm and locked the car then walked over to the huge double oak doors in front of him. A servant girl opened the door as he went searching for his father. The servants bowed their head as he entered his estate. He found his father in his study not far from the entrance to the estate.
Inu Taisho was sitting at his desk looking over important papers, and looking for great places to hold the mating ritual for both his sons. He looked up to see a very angry son. He put down his pen in his hand as he asked his son to sit, he refused.
“Is there something wrong Sesshomaru?” Inu Taisho asked as his son growled.
Sesshomaru slammed his hands onto the desk, “A human? You destined me to be with a human?” Inu Taisho saw the anger in his son’s eyes, but he didn’t care, because he had his reasons on why he did it.
“I have my reasons Sesshomaru!” he expressed with a growl. “Your hatred for humans stops here. The consul and I had decided on who we believe would be the best choice for you. And Rin was the girl that was the perfect fit.” His son growl, causing him to raise a brow, “you hate humans, believing they are weak, that they are below us, but that too stops here as well, because you are now connected to one whether you like the idea or not. Rin isn’t like the other humans, she’s gone through to much for you to resent her and to mistreat her, she most likely hates her kind more then you do.”
Sesshomaru stayed silent. Inu Taisho looked at the demon in front of him. His son held a lot of power, but his tactics were weak, if he continues to believe humans are weak, then he too will be weak, for thinking such a thought. The girl he choose for Sesshomaru was pure, he watched her life as it unfolded in front of her eyes. She had gone through so much, but she had the strength to get through it, to hide her feelings.
“My son, this experience will teach you well, just wait.” with that Sesshomaru stormed out of the study and out the estate. His father will regret his decision of destining him with a human.
Sesshomaru left the estate, got in his car and went driving back down the road to the school. The gravitational pull was pulling him towards her. She was calling out to him, even though she didn’t know she was. Plus something didn’t seem right, like danger was around her, he had to go find her. He was going to be the shadow watching over her. He drove out the gates of his estate and out the gates of the community. Speeding through the heavy traffic, he drove around the school, parking his car near the entrance of the school.
From there he was going on foot. It would so much easier to find her without his car. He ran through the streets and ended up in a dark alley. There he saw a shadow figure and a girl with her head up high, trying to hold back tears. The figure had her against the wall, Sesshomaru jumped onto the roof to get a better view. When he looked down he noticed a familiar face. It was Rin. Rin was pressed against the wall, the left side of her cheek was bruised, it was a color of black and purple.
Rin’s bag was next to her on the ground. Sesshomaru growled as he jumped off the roof and into the shadows, pulling the man from Rin and holding him against the wall. His eyes were red, growling the man pulled out a knife which only got thrown across by Rin’s feet. Rin fell over onto the ground, tears that refused to fall finally forced themselves down her bruised cheeks. Her salty tears continued to fall as Sesshomaru glared at the man in front of him, he wasn’t human. He was a demon, but from the looks of it he had no mate, and mating season brought out the ugliness of people.
Grasping the man by his throat, Sesshomaru growls in a low tone, “Don’t ever come near her again!” He wanted to kill the demon, but killing a man in front of Rin would lose a lot of connection that had already been building.
Releasing the demon, he scrambled to his feet and hurried running down the alley and onto the street. Sesshomaru turned from the wall and looked at Rin, her face was covered by her hands. Kneeling over by her form, even though he didn’t care he had to make sure she was okay. She was his to protect. Rin lifted up her head and looked at him. His face was hidden by the dark shadow. She stood to her feet, grabbing her bag, she wanted to see his face.
She knew who it was, the man that had been pulling her to him all this time. Sesshomaru came out of the shadows, his golden eyes had changed back before he looked at her. His golden eyes looking down at Rin caused her to gasp. She wanted to the reach up and touch his face, his features on his face were very interesting to her, he was a beautiful creature to her, magnificent.
Sesshomaru put his hand on her cheek which caused her to whimper and back herself against the wall once more. She was still frightened, and was in pain. When he attempted to touch her once more she turned from him, wiping away her tears, while whispering, “thank you…again…” she was going to walk away, but that pull had pulled her to look back at him.
He stayed silent, admiring her human features. She was very pretty, had nice curves, and she only seemed afraid to look at him. But why? She turned to walk away, “I must go…” Just as she was about to walk away she turned back around to say one last thing, “why…” but before she could get the sentence she had longed to ask he disappeared. He did that every time.
Oh well. She walked away and across the street. There was barely any traffic. She looked at her phone to check the time, she had about a half hour before her cousin got out of school. Her little cousin was barely in the first grade, she was six years old and was very smart. As Rin walked down the street to come face to face with her house she pulled out her keys and opened the front door. Closing the door as she walked in Rin placed her keys on the counter then set her bag on the table.
Grabbing a bottle of cold water, Rin sat down on her couch and closed her eyes, she was tired, but she had loads of homework to do and she had to practice the piano. She wasn’t sure how she was able to do all the activities she does and still be a honor student. She sat up on the couch as she looked at the clock on the wall. She yawned as she got up from her seat and walked over to her bag. Grabbing a pen and paper, she was going to start on her essay for her advanced mythological class, which the mysterious man was in as well.
She wondered a lot of things about him. Like where he came from, why was it that every time she was in trouble he was there to save her and why did she feel like her body was only acting strange when he was around her? Her heart pumped faster and longer when he was around and it yearned for him when he wasn’t. There was a heated connection they were building that she was fully aware of. Could he be her mysterious mate that finally came for her to complete the mating ritual and make that connection with her to make their bond stronger in order for their bodies to settle with one another?
Every time he was around her today she seemed lost when looking in those gorgeous golden eyes. He put her in some trance that even she couldn’t get out of. His eyes glistened in the sun and sparkled in the shadows of the alley. He was a maleficent creature, he truly captured her heart and her soul the first time they looked into each other eyes. But he seemed like he hated her, when she looked at him he sort of seemed annoyed or disgusted with her. What she didn’t know was he wasn’t disgusted with her, he was disgusted with what she was. A human. The one creature he hated, the one that will make him weak if he mates with her.
Rin seemed lost in the thought of him. She came back to her own reality and started to work on her homework.

Monday 3:55 p.m. Dearily Residence
Rin had got a few pages of her homework finished. She didn’t have much left, but she still had to work on her piano skills when her cousin gets home. That way her cousin will still be hyper from school and will join her playing her flute. Rin put her homework down then got up grabbing her keys from the counter she walked over to the front door she left her house, locking the door as she went walking back down the street and over to the small elementary school across the street from the alley she had been stuck at and saved by her mysterious man.
Four o’clock came around and the bell rang. Rin waited outside the front gates of the school to find her cousin stumbling her way outside the doors of the school. Rin smiled as her cousin gave her friend a hug then went running into Rin’s arms. Rin giggled as she hugged her back. Her short brown hair, blew against the bottom of her shoulders as they started walking hand in hand.
“How was school Chiyo? Did you learn something new today?” Rin loved her little cousin. She almost reminded her of herself when she was her age, but around that time she was still coping with her parents death, it was extremely hard for her to deal with it although she was glad to have her aunt and uncle by her every step of the way.
Chiyo looked up at Rin, her smile shined as she giggle then spoke, “It was great, my teacher said I did excellent singing in class today. She said the extra hard work I’ve been doing is working. She wants me to join the talent show that will be held in two weeks.” Rin’s eyes went wide, she was happy for her.
“Thanks wonderful sweetie. I’ll be in the front videotaping it, making sure I won’t miss a thing!” Rin stopped walking and picked up her cousin before bumping into a women with long silver hair. She has hugging a little girl with black and silver hair that was mixed. Rin smiled as she apologized, she knew the women, “I’m terribly sorry Ms. Sadamoto…”
The women smiled as she responded to the apology, “Rin dear girl it’s no problem, please just call me by my name Sookie, and not by a formality. You are a dear friend to me.” Rin nodded her head as she looked at the girl next to her. She was Sookie’s niece, Akasha, but everyone called her Kasha. She had golden eyes much like Sookie’s but her eyes reminded her of Sesshomaru’s. “Rin I would like to invite you to have dinner with me tomorrow night. It’ll be at my son’s estate, his father is having a huge dinner party.”
“I’d love too Sookie, let me talk to my aunt and uncle, I’ll call you sometime tomorrow afternoon.” Sookie nodded her head as she Rin went on, “Me and Chiyo must be going, we have piano lesson’s to finish.” Once more Sookie nodded her head as Rin said, “I’ll call you first thing tomorrow when I get out of school, I’ll pick Chiyo from school and we can go together, if that would be alright with you?”
“It would be splendid, let me know before tomorrow night so I can talk to my dear ex-mate about it. He would like to meet you.” With that Rin gave Sookie a hug then left, grabbing Chiyo’s hand and walking back to their house.

Author’s Note: Okay I’m going to leave it there, sorry everyone, it was getting a little long. I think you got the point by now. Soo what do you think???
I’m going to continue the rest of this chapter in chapter two. It might be better that way. The dinner will be continued on the next chapter or on the third chapter. I’m not sure yet what I would like to do yet. The next chapter will be the events leading up to the dinner, like Rin’s day at school, stuff like that.

Summary: The cycle of demon mating has been going on for thousands of years. Not one demon complained about the consequences of their mating. Not one demon very much liked the choice of who their eternal mate is. Except one. The powerful dog demon lord isn’t too questionable about who his mate is, until he see’s she is his worst enemy. A human girl is his destined mate whether he likes it or not, he must claim her as his mate. There is no way out of it. Will she accept the fact that’s she is destined to be with a demon lord? Will he forget she is human and take her as his mate? What will others think about this ‘arrangement’?
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Inuyasha’s characters. I only own the characters I made up in this story and I own this story. Other then that I don’t own anything else.

From: Aria Somei
Message: It looks like you have a guardian angel. And a gorgeous one at that.
Time: 1:31 p.m. December 2, 2009
