InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Damn Good Fuck Partner. ❯ A Life Story ( Chapter 3 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
That night Kagome lay in her bed contemplating her decision. She was desperate, caught between pride, and her life's work, and when those two arrogant men entered her office, a realization struck her. She had been denying it up until then, and what the two said was true. Her company was going downhill.
And her company was her life, a way to escape from her pain.
Her company was a way she could test herself.
Her company was a way she could prove herself to her father.
Ever since she was small, little Kagome looked up to her father. He always carried himself with pride, and worked hard to achieve his goals.
She ignored the fact that the men neglected his family, and enjoyed the little make-up gifts he spoiled her with.
A pony for when he couldn't make it to her birthday, a life sized doll house when he couldn't make it home on Christmas, a new doll every night he couldn't make it home.
Back then, he was a role model, the ideal father in Kagome's eyes.
In reality, he was a selfish business man, who told his wife he was in his office working, when he was actually cheating on her with his secretary.
But Kagome didn't know that, and continued defending her father every time his name was slandered.
As the girl went to school, she studied hard and earned top marks in every subject, eventually getting a scholarship to a very prestigious University of Business and Marketing. As soon as she graduated, Kagome began trying to make a life for herself in advertisement, but her father disapproved.
Mr. Higurashi was old fashioned, and believed that women did not belong in the corporate world. Instead, they were to live at home, and please their husbands, just as her mother did. But Kagome protested, and without her father's approval, she worked tirelessly trying to prove him wrong.
But he kept on denying his only daughter, until his son was diagnosed with leukemia.
Souta was supposed to be the next heir of his fathers real-estate, but when the sickness was discovered, and radiation began, he was soon to weak to study, let alone run a company.
Kagome and her family prayed for the young boy, and their prayers were soon answered.
One day, Kagome got a call from her mother, only to find out that they managed to get rid of the chronic leukemia (chronic leukemia is when it takes time for the white blood cells to progress. Whereas acute leukemia is when the white blood cells reproduce at a very large rate and reproduce quickly. So Souta's chronic leukemia must have been discovered at an early stage… just throwing that in) was finally cured.
The whole Higurashi family celebrated, and Kagome's father almost forgot his anger and his only daughter.
Until Souta relapsed.
It was as if Kami was playing a game with them.
Everyone denied that the boy was going to die, even though the doctors said the odds were against him.
And no one took the news harder then Mr. Higurashi. He went into a state of denial, and ignoring the doctor's advice, he kept on paying the hospital money, trying to keep at least a shred of hope.
The man was angry, and took it out on anyone who tried to change his mind, and prove him wrong. Until one day, Souta called his dad over to England, so they can finally talk.
What they talked about, Kagome didn't know, but when her father came home, he was depressed. And in that depression, he finally admitted his wronging. He put his real-estate company in her name once he retired.
After hearing that news, Kagome cried. She cried not from happiness and joy, but from despair and sorrow. She lost her appetite for a week, because the young woman knew that her brother was dieing. And her father's acceptance only confirmed it.
Weeks later, Kagome flew to see her brother, and get some answers. But she got none, and instead, stayed in that little white room in the hospital, just talking to the frail boy, literally breaking down and crying every time the doctors had to take his blood. And she cried even more after every one of Souta's surgeries, from which he came out even paler, and more exhausted.
Before she knew it, Kagome was calling her brother's hospital, and asking one of the secretaries to connect her with him.
Moments later, she could hear a weak, raspy voice on the other end, “Kagome?”
“Hey there…” there was a short silence between both of them.
Sniffling, the other voice finally spoke up, “I don't want to die… not yet…”
Soon enough both of them were crying, not saying one word.

Kagome walked up to her parent's mansion.
She strolled past the garden, that was landscaped by the best in all America. It had beautiful rare flowers imported from multiple countries and rainforests in Europe and Asia. Multiple shrubs that looked scattered around were actually strategically placed, making garden and house look almost unrealistic. The Whole scenery looked like it was out of a fairytale.
Kagome knocked the antique metal knob against the mouth of a beast-like creature, which hung in the middle of a large wooden door. She didn't know what kind of wood it was, but knowing her father, it was probably the most expensive there kind out there.
Her dad opened the door. He was tall, and handsome, and had it not been his graying hair, and the few wrinkles around his eyes, one would have thought he was in his late twenties.
“So you finally visit your old man,” he greeted her.
Kagome didn't have a chance to say hello until he spoke again, “I'm surprised you can still show your face in public after your scandal.”
“What scandal?”
“You know damn well, signing that contract with the Takahashi's. Whoring yourself out like that, how dare you call yourself a Higurashi,” his voice was loud, and angry.
Her mother stood behind her dad, a scowl on her face, “I can't believe you entrusted your company to her. She can't even manage a small advertising one!”
“I told you to marry that Hobu kid and stay at home like a good little girl, but you wanted to become independent, wanted to have your own life,” he spoke loudly, his voice seething with sarcasm.
Her mother continued, “I bet she made Souta sick on purpose, what a selfish little spoiled brat!”
“How can you say that? I'm-I'm your daughter,” Kagome nearly cried.
“We have no daughter,” they both said in unison.

Kagome suddenly woke up, a sheen of sweat covering her. She shook her head as a shiver ran through her whole body, trying to get the dream out of her mind.
It was so realistic, that Kagome thought it was almost true….
Maybe calling Inuyasha wasn't her best choice.
But then again, as long as this `contract' was kept confidential, she had nothing to worry about. She was confused as her mind was invaded with `what ifs'.
She kept on thinking of every possible scenario, until Kagome couldn't stand it anymore, and collapsed onto her pillow, and dozed off once again.

Kagome was getting ready to go on her morning jog, when her work cell rang.
She usually had two cell phones, one for her personal life, and another one strictly for work.
“Hello?”
“Good morning Kagome, I have arranged a place we can meet to discuss your job,” it was Inuyasha.
Kagome sighed, `How can he arrange a meeting without my input,' but she just shrugged it off, “Okay…”
“Later tonight, at six, meet me at Shikon restaurant,” he didn't say anything more, and hung up.
Kagome knew that anyone in the business industry had to keep a tough exterior, but this guy was pushing it. He was acting like she didn't have a choice, but obey his every whim.
The woman just shuddered; she couldn't imagine how he would act when she did sign the contract.
As Kagome jogged, she thought about why Inuyasha wanted her.
“Why couldn't he have chosen someone else, and spent not even half the money on them,” she muttered, and made a mental note to ask him that during their meeting.

Later that day, Kagome prepared for their meeting, she dressed in one of her favorite black dresses. It had a V-neck line, that showed off her bust quite nicely, and the back hung low, exposing her back entirely.
The dress was sexy, yet elegant, making her look like a true beauty, and after all, she was meeting him at the Shikon restaurant, so she HAD to look her best.
Inuyasha might have been a cocky bastard, but he wasn't stingy, that was for sure. Shikon restaurant was one of the most expensive in all of Japan, and someone had to make a reservation month prior. And the prices for the food were so expensive that they were ridiculous, but then again Shikon was meant for the upper-class.
It was meant for the very rich.
Brushing her cheeks with a very light tinge of blush one last time, Kagome gathered her things in a small purse, and called for a cab.
She wanted to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.

Answering some of the reviews:
First off, I will like to that you all for all the nice comments and ratings, if it weren't for you I would have probably given up after the first chapter.
1. Is Miroku going to be in it?
Yes, I am planning on putting Miroku, Sango, Sessomary, and the rest of them in the later chapters.
But I'm not going to reveal to much right now, it will have to be a surprise. ;)
And if you have any more questions, ask~
Till next time!
