Chapter 11

A girl in an inch-above-the-knee skirt and a loose white dress shirt with black penny loafers stumbled groggily outside into the dim sunlight, she looked up; it was a beautiful cloudy day and only slightly chilly.

Kagome, teary-eyed, yawned as she walked down the street leading to the park. `The Partiers didn't get back home until a quarter to one, though Sango went home earlier with her parents (she claimed they offered her a ride to were she lived so the guys wouldn't get suspicious).

Then after she got home she realized she had homework and didn't get to bed around four twenty-five. She woke up at seven-o-nine.

Kagome yawned again, then felt a presence coming at her at a fast pace. She turned around warily. "EEK!" Kagome found herself in strong masculine arms. "Kouga-kun put me down please, I'm not in the mood right now" She sighed. "…okay, now that you've been warned, PUT ME DOWN NOW!"

"Ah my love how I adore your voice in the morning." Kouga smiled down at her.

Kagome moaned and looked down and the pavement. "Kouga-kun could you put me down…please?" Kagome pleaded the last part.

"Of course My Love." Kouga saw the tired look on her face. "Are you okay?"

Kagome weakly smiled up at him, "Hai, Doomo Arigatou." Kagome yawned small tears and the side of her eyes.

Kouga studied her, "Where are you going on this semi-cloudy day?" Kouga tried to cheer the usual happy girl.

Kagome laughed weakly and gave him a small smile. "You're sweet Kouga-kun, thanks."

She hooked her elbows with his; Kouga blushed and looked up.

"I was planning to go walking through the park. She looked up at him; Kouga looked down at her with hope and light in his eyes. "Do you want to walk with me?"

Kouga had a heightened blissful look come over his somewhat boyish features. "I would love to." He smiled and snaked his arm around her waist. Kagome didn't remove it and even leaned into his shoulder. She was too tired to complain. They walked awhile, Kouga in a blissful state because he was with Kagome, and Kagome shivering cause of the chilly wind that picked up.

Kouga saw this and he gave her his jacket, "Doomo (Thankx)." Kagome blushed and put it on,

"Dou itashimashte (don't mention it)." Kouga smiled. They talked about random things: Kouga and his tribe of wolves, Kagome and her family, things like that. After awhile they sat on a bench and just talked. Above them, the clouds started to gray.

A howl pierced the air and Kouga straightened to his full height, alert. Another longer howl rang again. The wolf youkai sighed, took a deep breath, and let out a piercing deep howl. `An answering call…I wonder what they're saying?' Kagome looked up at Kouga.

Kouga sighed and turned to the stunning girl in his arms. "Sumi masen, koi, demo…hehe I have to leave, duty calls." Kouga swooped down and kissed Kagome on her forehead. He stood up and than helped Kagome up, who looked down at the jacket around her shoulders. "Matte onegaishimasu (one of the full spellings of please)!"

Kouga looked down at her; Kagome took of the jacket and handed it to him.

"You keep it." Kouga smiled at her.

Kagome blushed and shook her head putting it on him. "It's gonna rain." Kagome pointed up at the angry gray sky.

Kouga looked at her. "But then you'll get caught in it…"

Kagome smiled up at him, "you ARE too sweet." Turning her body to the right she looked back at him, "I live a few blocks that way, less then seven minutes." Kagome saw him hesitate then nod.

"All right then, Ja ne." Kouga leaped high in the air and jumped from tree to tree.

Kagome watched the path he took even after the first raindrop landed on her cheek, and after the few minutes as the rain poured down. Walking the opposite direction from her house, she wandered aimlessly, the song `Cage' stuck in her head; repeating over, and over, and over again.

After awhile she leaned against a dark white and gray brick wall, the rain feeling cool against her heated skin, but she did not take notice of it. She raised her head to the cloudy sky, eyes unseeing, jumbled thoughts going through her head.

When her father died, Kagome blocked out the past, and until this day, the door was sealed shut. Sometimes she would just imagine the door and stare at it, wanting but afraid to open it. Again, she found herself in front of the dark oak wood, the shiny gold handle gleaming in the non-extinctent light.

It looked so innocent. Her hand reached out to grasp the handle…..and then the wind blew hard, making her snap back to reality. She realized how cold it was and looked around. Her face went completely blank as her noted the fog and the heavy rain block out the whole street.

`Sooo…..where am I again?' Kagome still didn't know her way around, and got lost by walking around while not paying attention. "Great…" she muttered.

A shadow fell over her, and she looked up.

""Eek!" Kagome jumped to the side and fisted her hand to her chest, "Ni-Nishitsuki-sama!" Kagome took another step back, "I ah…what are you doing here?" Kagome gasped out, her eyes glued to cool-molten gold.

"The question is, what are you doing standing outside of my house?"

Kagome blinked. "Are…" Kagome looked at the wall then beyond, from her angle she could make out the barely noticeable cool gray roof of a mansion.

"Oh! I wasn't aware- I didn't know you lived here- I'm- I didn't even know this was here." Kagome tried to speak but her teeth-now-started to shatter; she unconsciously wrapped her arms around herself.

"Sumi masen, Se- ara (ah-rah it means um.)…Nishitsuki-sama." Kagome bowed and started to turn but then looked down the unrecognizable street, covered in knee high fluffy fog and pouring rain.

She bit her bottom lip and started to feel jittery, from the cold or the eerie atmosphere. `Or both' she thought still eying the street. `And I have no clue where I am…I guess if I walk long enough I'll eventually find something that looks familiar.'

Kagome moved her hand to her face when she felt a sneeze coming, "Dang…" Kagome sniffed. `Great I'm shivering, most likely I'll get a cold in the next hour as so…' Kagome felt eyes on her and blushed realizing that she was still standing in the same place for the last two minutes.

She suddenly turned around her eyes wide. "How did you know I was out here?" Kagome looked at his clothes, "how come your not getting wet? Don't look at me like that…" Kagome could see pure amusement in his eye for it was not on his features. "Come…" Sesshoumaru turned and opened the gate with a flick of his wrist; Kagome looked around slightly confused but followed when she saw him look back at her. The gates closed without a sound behind her.

Kagome walked up the wide and long `U' shaped driveway. In the middle was a manicured shrub maze and bright flowers. `Sugoi…' Kagome looked up at the hazy outline of the house that was becoming clearer and bigger with each step.

Kagome coughed and sneezed at the same time; she winced and held her side with a hiss of pain. "Itai…" Kagome whispered, `I hate it when that happened…cramps…' Looking up in front of her, Kagome didn't see Sesshoumaru anymore; She gasped when she felt arms around her back and thighs.

"Whoa…" Kagome found herself bridal style in Sesshoumaru's arms. She looked up at him but he was looking straight ahead, Kagome blushed and looked down. Her eyebrows shot up, mouth dropping open a little. `The rain…it's not hitting me!' Kagome looked more closely at the rain.

It just fell around her, curious; Kagome moved her hand and stuck a finger forward, her jaw dropped in awe. A smile spread across her flushed face. Every time she thought the rain would hit her hand it would just part and fall around it. "Kokoi….." Kagome silently giggled as she poked her finger different ways.

----------------------------

(Sesshoumaru's complicated mind)

I looked out the window…..it was raining but like always, I did not care. Somehow my mind had wandered to a certain someone that did not run away every time I looked at her.

What was her name again…Kagome? What kind of name is that? Isn't it some human child's game? Wait! What are you thinking?! Sesshoumaru, cease such inane thoughts. She is below your station! …..But still, her name did have a pleasant feel when rolled off the tongue…

I was snapped out of my thought as something blurry outside stopped and leaned against the wall guarding the mansion me and my `family' lived in. Narrowing my pupil's I could make out dark hair and pale skin. Gracefully gliding out of the room, across the maze of hallways and down the grand staircase along the wall I went.

"Where are you going Sesshoumaru-sama?" A voice squawked. I move my eyes to glare at the stupid toad, it squawked then threw itself to the floor, "Gomen nasai Sesshoumaru-sama, this lowly servant is not worth your words."

When the toad looked up I was gone. "Ara…." The toad peeled himself off the ground and looked around. He thought it was safe when a voice made him freeze and look around once again.

"JAKEN-SAMA, WHERE ARE YOU? RIN CAN'T FIND YOU!" Jaken squeaked loudly and an in the opposite direction the voice was yelling in. "AH! NEVER MIND I HEAR YOU!" The little girl's voice spoke happily.

I hear Jaken squeak loudly as a muffled Rin's voice pierced the mansion's hallways and I almost grin. That has been happening too much lately. Then I stepped out into the rain. The rain parted as I soundlessly glided towards the person, their scent dampened by the rain, but I could make out…water lilies and…vanilla? To say the least if I had not built my stoic façade 82 years ago, I would be drooling.

`Who possesses this intoxicating scent?' I leap over the tall gate and land soundlessly on the other side. Surprise was an under-statement. How ironic that the person I was trying to avoid thinking of is staring off in the distance right in front of me, her beautiful gray/blue orbs glazed over. Beautiful? Yes, I suppose they are, but what does it matter to me if she has nice eyes? I dismiss the thought as something a lovesick human would consider. These humans are rubbing off on me; it is disdainful to think about.

I could feel the heat radiating from her heated skin. `She's getting a fever, stupid girl.' Yet out of all the people I could care less about; I must admit I care about this one…and there had been more than one occasion on which I suddenly felt protective of her. Again I caught myself from growling at the though of that dark hair hanyou, Naraku…a sudden urge to rip him apart annoys me. Why should I care?

I hear a soft "Great" escape her lovely lips and-- AHHH! Did I just think lovely lips?! That's it, Sesshoumaru. You are in serious need of some rest. Control your thoughts or I shall punish you. I almost sweatdropped after thinking this.

I stepped forward, my shadow falling over her small figure.

"Eek!" She jumped to the side; I almost smiled again. Her shocked expression was almost cute--NO! I can control my mind better than that! Alright, from now on, if any urge to think like a human comes, you are to chant, `It's MY mind.'

"Ni-Nishitsuki-sama!" she exclaimed.

I inwardly frowned. I admit regretting that I snapped at her the other day, for some strange reason I liked the nick name she gave me…well maybe it was because my mother also had a nick name for me, `Maru-chan'. This girl `Kagome' somewhat reminded me of my mother, and I confess that I enjoy it.

I saw her take another step back and I didn't like that. Why? I haven't the slightest idea.

"I ah…what are you doing here?" He tone was nervous.

I fixed my cool gaze on her so she couldn't look away. "The question is what are you doing standing outside of my house?" I spoke. I watched her blink.

"Are…" she turned to the tall wall then beyond.

"Oh! I wasn't aware- I didn't know you lived here- I'm- I didn't even know this was here." I smirked inwardly, and then frowned. Her teeth were chattering and she was noticeably shivering and had wrapped her arms around herself.

"Sumi masen, Se-, ara …Nishitsuki-sama." I felt something jump inside me as she almost said my name, but then it dropped when she corrected herself. She bowed then turned, but then hesitated, I watched, amused, as she looked down the street, covered in fog and pouring rain. I could smell her nervousness.

She bit her bottom lip, which in anyone's opinion looked REALLY cute. (I was not about to start chanting in front of her, so tried to forget I ever thought that word)

She moved her hand to her face then sneezed, "Dang…" she sniffed, then turned her head to look back at me. She must have noticed that she was just staring at the street for the last two minutes.

She suddenly turned around fully, her eyes wide. "How did you know I was out here?" she looked at my clothes. "how come you're not getting wet?" I gave her an amused look.

"Don't look at me like that…"

"Come." I said then turned around; I opened the gate with a flick of my wrist, then looked back at the girl, she followed. We walked up the long and wide `U' shaped drive, which had a well-manicured shrub maze and bright flowers in the middle.

The hazy outline of the house that was becoming clearer and bigger with each step we took. My ears perked up when the young girl coughed and sneezed at the same time; I moved my head slightly and saw her winced and hold her side with a hiss of pain. "Itai…" she whispered. I sighed inwardly then quickly stood behind her.

She gasped when I put my arms around her back and thighs.

"Whoa…" she gasped as she found herself bridal style in my arms. She looked up at me but I was looking straight ahead not wanting her to see me on the dangerous verge of cracking a smirk. I could just see her blush and look down. When her eyes were off my face and focused in front of her I watched as her eyebrows shot up and her mouth dropped a little. Then she shifted forward to look more closely at something.

She moved her hand and stuck a finger forward. `What is she doing?' I thought, her jaw dropped. Then a smile spread across her flushed face.

"Kokoi…" she silently giggled as she poked her finger different ways into the air.

`Oh…' I figured it out. She was fascinated by the rain not touching her. It was amusing to watch her do this. I never laugh, but just now, I was a centimeter away from doing it aloud. Maybe I should chant in my head?

As we got onto the large marble veranda I `gently' put the girl down smirking.

Reg. Prov.

Kagome squealed as she caught herself on the wall and Sesshoumaru's shoulder before she could fall. She glared up at him and it only intensified more when she saw the lingering smirk in his eye. `Jerk…' she thought. `Cute and sexy…' he thought, `but there's no way in hell I'll let her know that… It's MY mind, it's MY mind, it's MY mind…..'

The front door opened without a sound, though you would not have heard it anyway because of the loud running and shouting noises coming from inside the house.

Kagome stared at the two figures, one a little usagi youkai (bunny demon) the other was a…something. It was short and I think green but that with all she could make out under all that make-up and frilly material of the dress.

"Rin." Sesshoumaru spoke coolly, the girl `Rin' stopped trying to apply red lipstick on the `green?' thing, and looked at the door.

"SESSHOUMARU-SAMA!" Rin abandoned the thing she was working on, and ran to Sesshoumaru and hugged his leg. Sesshoumaru patted her head and she let go.

"Sesshoumaru-sama, Rin was improving Jaken-sama looks, do you like it?" She had a clear look of this 'Jaken-sama'.

"Oh my god…" Kagome said in a small voice.

Light blue eye shadow

Over pink blush

White powered face

Red lipstick that was all around this poor thing's face

Pearl earring dangling on one ear the other had fallen on the dress.

A long sugar blond wig…..with Shirley Temple curls.

And the dress..…oh the dress…..

A bright yellow that pooled around the creature, pink lace shaped as flowers sewn on it and a sky blue ribbon that was untied in the back.

Kagome was in too much shock to laugh right away.

"Hey who are you? What are you doing here? What is your name? WOW, you are really pretty! Why are you all wet? Where do you live? Can you be my Onee-san? `Cause I don't have one. Are you Sesshoumaru-sama girlfriend?" Rin asked then took a breath.

Will that last question brought Kagome out of her stupor, "G-g-girlfriend? Me?" She squeaked out, Rin nodded, "IIE, I'm not pretty enough." Kagome shook her head. `Well that just came out.' She thought.

"Yes you are!" Rin smiled eyes bright.

"Doomo…" Was all Kagome was able to say. "Hai!" Rin smiled then turned back to Jaken.

"Jaken-sama, I'm not done yet come back!" Rin ran after the hobbling toad, Kagome laughed as Jaken tripped over the dress and Rin pounced.

"Got'cha!" Rin smiled then dragged the crying thing up the grand staircase.

"Well, that is a nice sort of entertainment…lucky you." Kagome muttered.

"It gets old after awhile." Sesshoumaru took off his shoes in a swift movement and waited for Kagome to do the same.

Kagome did, and then followed Sesshoumaru up the staircase. They took many turns, Kagome enjoying the plush feel of the very long rug. The only sound was when Kagome would try to muffle a sneeze or cough. She kept on following Sesshoumaru's hair the long straight strands swishing back and forth, back forth, back and forth.

`Damn him and his PERFECT HAIR!' she was stating to fume and shiver and the same time, `I know it's not cold in this hallway…' she glared at the perfect hair. "Why am I glaring at hair?" she muttered, but then quickly regretted it.

"Yes, why?" An amused voice spoke from the other side of that `Perfect' hair, which came out of that perfect mouth, which is on a perfect face, which she knew had an amused expression. She just KNEW it.

She muttered `nothing' and kept on glaring at the perfect hair that mocked her just three feet ahead. They came to two doors, and without even touching them they opened. Sesshoumaru without looking back walked in, Kagome on the other hand was hesitant, but went in anyway.

Sesshoumaru disappeared through a doorway on the right side of the room, leaving Kagome standing in the middle, awed. The room had a dark and yet light theme to it. The high dome ceiling was that of a night's sky with a large full moon and twinkling stars.

The painting on the walls was of a pine forest at night with clear lake moonlight reflecting off the surface from the moon painted on the ceiling. Looking down Kagome was standing on a VERY large round, fluffy white carpet, the stone underneath it was a cold gray. The large four-poster bed looked like the most comfortable fluffiness thing in the world (warning I just made this sentence up I'm sorry). The curtains were midnight blue and the comforter was white fleece.

Kagome jumped as she felt Sesshoumaru's powerful aura behind her, she turned and blinked. He was holding out a long fluffy towel and an equally long white button up shirt with royal blue flower imprints on the sleeves.

Kagome looked up at Sesshoumaru; he raised an eyebrow at her indicating she should take the offered clothes. "Ne, Arigatou…?' Kagome took them.

Sesshoumaru point to the door he disappeared through earlier. Kagome blushed deep red and then went to go change. She closed the door behind her. She gasped; the room was white marble with a high ceiling, there was a sauna, a Jacuzzi, and a steam shower.

"Damn you're rich…" Kagome looked on envious at the luscious bathroom, `OKAY! Lets not stand here drooling all day now.' Kagome thought to her self, she sneezed, which brought to her attention that she was freezing. Luckily her underwear dried fast, folding her wet clothes and putting them aside she looked at the shirt.

She smiled at it. It was…so long and broad at the shoulders. Not even having to undo the buttons, she just slid it over her head and around her shoulders. The hem ended right below her knees and the sleeves were three inches longer then her fingers. (When I drew a picture of her in this shirt, I thought it was the cutest picture in the world...yes I draw and I'm good at it…females only though…)

She folded the towel leaving her hair slightly damp and in loose cascading waves. After six minutes, Kagome walked out with the folded towel over one arm and her damp clothes in the other.

Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow at the comical way she looked. Beside him was a desert coyote demon who had her head bowed and her hands folded in front if her.

"Give her your clothes." Sesshoumaru said shortly.

"Ara, here." Kagome handed the things out to the short girl. The girl took it and bowed, she was at the door when Kagome spoke. "Thank you miss." The maid goggled at her, something passed through her eyes, then she gave a smile and bowed her head to Kagome before walking out.

Sesshoumaru stared at Kagome then motioned her to follow him. "Ne, where are we going?" Kagome asked but not getting an answer tried to keep up with Sesshoumaru's long strides. They again walked through long hallways though it seemed to be mostly to the Northeast. After about five minutes of walking, Sesshoumaru stopped at another pair of double doors, similar to the ones leading to his own room.

He knocked. "Come in" was the reply.

Sesshoumaru opened the door wider and looked back at Kagome. Kagome didn't know what to do so she just stayed outside until Sesshoumaru looked back at her. `Okay…..' she thought as she walked into the room.

It was a gigantic library, with a domed ceiling of dark marble, large windows, and burgundy walls with gold trimming at the top and bottom. Mahogany desks, a rich cream plush carpet, overstuffed chairs, and rows upon rows of bookshelves elegantly positioned around the room and along walls gave it an ancient but warm feeling.

`I've decided..…I like this room…..' Kagome was in awe of the countless books bound in aged leather and new parchment, but was brought back to earth when a large man sitting at a desk stood up.

"Hello! Sesshoumaru my boy, how are you? Good to see you on this side of the mansion…..for once." The man said beaming. He caught sight of Kagome's small figure, "Ah and who is she?" The man smiled at Kagome.

"Are…..I'm Higurashi, Kagome. Pleaser to meet you-…..sir." Kagome bowed blushing a bit,

"Likewise Higurashi-san. I am Nishitsuki-sama of this household but you can call me Papa, ne?" (I like the word Papa!) The man `Papa' looked more closely at Kagome. "Do I know you?"

"Ah…..No sir, I think not." Kagome looked at Nishitsuki-sama.

"Ne I said call me papa. Are you sure I haven't seen you before?" `Papa', as Nishitsuki-sama insisted on being called, walked over to Kagome and circled her. "You remind me of someone then…..maybe?" `Papa' shrugged.

Then her looked down at her attire and chuckled. "Got caught in the rain?"

Kagome nodded sheepishly.

"Well its not…..no…..never has been the case that Sesshoumaru would do anything of this sort." `Papa' looked over at Sesshoumaru who was just staring at a wall arms folded.

"Do you two go to the same school-"

Sesshoumaru interrupted. "Inuyasha's here."

*BOOM* "FATHER! WOULD YOU TELL RIN TO STOP MESSING UP MY- Kagome?" Inuyasha stared at Kagome who was looking at him with wide-eyes.

"Are…Hi?" She waved.

Inuyasha blushed but then asked in a gruff voice, "What are you doing here?" emphasizing the `you'.

"I got caught in the rain?" Kagome nervously smiled.

"Yeah well, that doesn't answer my question." Inuyasha folded his arms across his chest and looked down at her.

"I'm visiting?" Kagome sweatdropped.

Inuyasha growled. "You're still not answering the question wench-oops I mean twit-I mean…..I'm GOING NOW!" Inuyasha ran out of the room before he could be beat up again.

"Yeah you better run…" Kagome glared at the spot Inuyasha was standing in.

"Well that would also be the first…" Papa looked at where his second son once stood, amusement and curiosity held towards the new female introduced in the house.

`I believe thing are going to be a little interesting around here.'
