Part 6: Intervention

 

"I'm going to bust in there and take back what's rightfully mine!" he growled.

 

"And what will that accomplish, Inu-Yasha? Nothing..."

 

Inu-Yasha turned with a start. He hadn't even noticed Kikyo's approach or her scent, but how was that possible?!?

 

"Don't look so surprised that I went undetected by your senses...I am a miko, remember? I have the ability to cloak my presence - unless, I want to be found..." she said softly as she moved closer to him.

 

"What's with this sudden concern for what fucking happens in my life?!?" he snarled as she stopped beside him. "You weren't so fucking concerned when you fucking cast that damn spell on me to fuck you!!!"

 

"I regret doing that, but I wanted you for myself...I realize that was foolish, on my part, to think that you would come back to me if we...mated..." she replied carefully. "But I am aware that the act was meaningless as only one of the participants were truly willing...your feelings had not been taken into account..."

 

Kikyo smirked, mentally, as Inu-Yasha's expression softened for anger to surprise. 'My plan is working...'

 

"You truly love Kagome, don't you?" she questioned lightly.

 

Inu-Yasha coughed slightly to clear his throat. 'I don't know what to make of this drastic change in her attitude, but it seems honest...'

 

"Yes, I do love her...that's why I fucking have to go in there, kill the bastard and get her back!!!"

 

"That won't work..." she reasoned. "If you kill your brother, she will hate you for it, and that's not what you want. Trust me, I know... the situation is not quite the same, but the hatred produced was similar."

 

"Than what the fuck am I supposed to do?!? Let my bastard of a brother have her?! Never!"

 

She gave him a thoughtful look before speaking, "Have someone else kill him. Your hands will be free of the stain..."

 

He gave her an incredulous look at what she was suggesting. 'Maybe she hasn't changed...'

 

"I mean what other options are there?" she said mildly. "This is the only thing I could think of, can you come think of anything else? Kidnapping, what good will that do? She may still end up hating you...you know that doesn't leave room for much else."

 

Inu-Yasha glowered at this suggestion, but she was right. 'What choice do I really have..?'

 

He paused for a moment - something wasn't right. They were right in front of Sessho-maru's manor yet he had not come...

 

"This small barrier won't last much longer...let's go somewhere else to discuss this some more..." she called over her shoulder as she headed towards the woods behind them.

 

"Barrier?"

 

"Yes, a barrier. Now, hurry! It won't last much longer, and you need more time to decide a course of action..."

 

Inu-Yasha followed behind her. 'I hope I'm making the right choice - I will come back for you, Kagome...this I promise...'

 

"Where the fuck are we going?" he burst out suddenly. Their lack of discussion was starting to piss him off - it was the entire point of this walk.

 

"To the village, in which I reside now. It will allow for more privacy... I do not trust these forests - I see too many of Naraku's saiymosho flying about."

 

"Feh! I guess that makes sense...That doesn't mean I have to like it..."he snorted.

 

Kikyo grinned. 'That's right, Inu-Yasha. Take the bait...everything is falling into place.'
