~*~*~Dark Days~*~*~

She sighed. It had been two days since they had met up with their hunt target and the streets had been silent. Night turned her head from the barrel fire to look at her brother, who had finally taken his mask off and laid it beside him on the wooden crate. Shadow was impossibly focused on his stolen laptop, searching for more information. His fine face glowed from the light of the fire, black hair tied back at the nape of his neck, shorter pieces left loose around his face. His deep violet eyes stared unblinking at the screen. By the light, the scar around his neck- which was identical to hers- looked brighter then usual. Unlike herself, her brother did not posses the black crest on his face and wrist, nor other demonic qualities with the exception of his pointed ears. He looked so human compared to the other hunters and hanyous they knew She pulled her black leather clad legs into her chest and folded her long pale arms around them, resting her head on her knees and sighed again. Her butt started to go numb from sitting on the cold muddy dirt on the small ally they were resting in.

Night gave up looking at her sibling, and turned to stare at the mask that lay beside Shadow. That mask, and hers, had made who they are today. The large oval shaped wooden mask was painted black, a navy crescent moon took up the majority of the black space, hers was a crimson red, and while they were plain they did the job to hide the twin's faces from public. Never taking them off and only when completely alone. The masks were commissioned by their Master, the reason for it was unknown but Master told them they were to never appear before him with out them. Night smiled. These masks gave them the name that the underground people knew them by…Masked Hunters. No one knew their birth names, only the names given by Master and as Masked Hunters.

~! You are wrong. Rin knows our names, as well as McGam. !~

Night smiled wider, first time in a while. ~* Point taken, are you almost done for the night or do I have to sit here for another couple days? *~

She looked up to see him looking at her, smiling. “Hold on a bit longer, I'm nearly finished. We can crash with the Bats then head out to see McGam in the morning about our masks.”

She sighed once again. “Do you think they'll show up? I'm almost positive they heard me and -.”

“Let them come,” he said “I have a surprise for them if they decide to show up,” he rose from the crate, placed the laptop into its case. Lifting up his mask and placing it back into it face he started off out of the ally. “Come, we need to meet with the Bats before we do anything rash tomorrow. I need a tune up.”

“Bernie, get your feet of the table and Bennie, “Shade stared at his younger sister flying up to look out the single window of the old warehouse “what in heavens name are you doing?”

Bennie flew down to meet her brother and exclaimed excitedly “Night's coming!”

Shade sighed “and that also means that Shadow's coming to right?” Bennie nodded her head then made a drive for the man-door as it opened, colliding with the female hanyou. Shade rose from the beat up couch they had stole from someone's garbage and stalked over to the door to meet up with the underground leader. He nodded towards Shadow before pulling his sister off of Night.

“You staying for the night?” Shade asked Shadow.

“Yeah if you don't mind, and do you have the tools up and running for a tune up? I might have a battle coming up and I want my limbs in running order.”

Shade leaned back on his heels and rubbed his forehead. He couldn't deny such a good friend anything. “Yeah gimme an hour or so and I should have it up and running,” he walked off towards the back of the warehouse where he kept his tools.

Shadow watched as his long time friend walk off for prep. Shade's look was down right terrifying. He and his siblings were some of the last kind of a special bat-youkai, commonly known as the vampire bats as they had to live of the life-sustaining substance. Shade was easily nearly 7 feet tall, and was literally a giant bat. Nearly black fur covered his entire body, large wings were attached to his wrists and all the way down his arm and waist so when he held his arms open a black membrane filled the area between his arms and body, his feet and hands had only three claw-like toes and fingers between giant bat ears was a jet-black mane which trailed half way down his back. But what had to scare off most people were the large fangs from his snout and the blood red eyes that followed everything.

Like all the people Shadow had ever met he had also met Shade during their time as lower slaves to the master. They had both been in the `boot camp' together, trained side-by-side and killed side-by-side. He had been there for everything that had ever gone wrong in his life. Shade was also now his personal mechanic, ever since he had lost his arm and leg during a fire years ago. He sighed this was all too much for him.

“Hey Shadow, you ok?” he looked down to see Bennie, Shade's little sister. She like her brother looked basically like a giant bat. Although Bennie and Bernie both looked kinder then their brother, but then again neither have suffered through Master's wishes. Bennie's fur was a paler tan brown with nearly bleach blond hair running down between her large bat ears and half way down her back, her eyes were a kinder brown and despite the fangs her smile still had infectiveness to it.

Shadow rubbed her hair and nodded, sitting down on the couch. After a few moments he felt the couch dip under the weight of another being. “They've agreed to help with what ever you want them to. So, what were you thinking?” Night spoke.

“I'll tell you tomorrow and nothing. I just wish I could sleep.”

She giggled. “Yeah you and me both brother,” she sighed and leaned back “you and me both.”

“So you've finally made it off your royal asses and came down to meet me huh?” McGam's sharp voice broke the silence of the back alley. She looked up from the ground to see the two warriors strode up to her. Her master held his head high as he stopped at her feet. Clothed in his usual attire of black pants with a tight black shirt, combat boots covered his feet. Upon his pants was a small belt containing small things such as the hook for his mask, a holder for his gun and sword, pockets for poison powder and other small battle necessities. His long raven hair was tied back as always and his mask covered his face although she could feel his intense violet eyed glaring her down from behind the mask. His sister stood beside him looking just as menacing as he. Her knee length black hair was left free to fly in the days wind. Her small black hanyou ears were always alert and swiveling around, catching the smallest sound. Tight blue jeans set McGam's eyes off as she had never seen either twin dress in anything other than black but the off shoulder blood red tank was ever present beneath her sleeveless black trench coat. Night's pendent hanging loose from her neck dropping to below her chest.

“Now, now McGam we've been busy and just haven't had the times to stop by. Our Master has given us another order and we've been working hard trying to find this bloke,” came Shadow's quick reply.

“Giving us a damned hard time he is. It's taken us nearly a week to find him,” Night complained.

McGam snorted “A week? Wow you guys are loosing your touch. So hand them over,” she held out her withered old hand for the masks.

Both warriors slowly removed the mask, unhooking the charm they had placed on them to keep them on their faces.

Up in the rooftop of the building Inuyasha and his friends watched the exchange between the three people. Inuyasha motioned to Miroku and Shippo for them to prepare to jump and catch the two. Kagome and Sango stood back with weapons ready. The inu-hanyou slowly placed his hand on the hilt of his ancient sword, felt it plus with anticipation beneath his fingers.

They jumped. Shippo and Inuyasha aimed to land atop each twin but in mid fall were caught by something in the air. Inuyasha could hear his mate scream and his friend yell out to him but all he could do was try and wrench his body from the clawed feet which held him too tightly.

“Not today hanyou. My dear friend wished for you and your friend's to speak so try not to fall to your death,” the creature holding him called out. Inuyasha stopped to look up only to see that his captor was a large bat-like youkai. “We have no need to harm you yet hanyou. I and my friends have need of you. Our Master wished you for himself so you and your friends shall remain breathing until Master says so.”

Inuyasha snorted then looked down only to see a miniature version of the city below him. “He had this planned didn't he?”

The bat looked down at him and cocked its head. Red eyes stared back at him. “My friend? Of course he's a smart lad. Been on the streets for years, he knew you over heard and wanted to find him, so he waited for you to come to him then having to find you himself. Clever man isn't he. And to think he's only in his early 20's. Now hold on tight hanyou,” after those last words Inuyasha felt himself drop. He swore to all 108 kami's his stomach was going to come out his mouth. He tried to look down only to see the ground coming at him with amazing speed. Then it all went black.

Kagome woke up to the smell of smoke. Her bright brown eyes flew open to assess her surroundings. She was currently chained to something, her hands and feet chained to themselves then to a spoke in the ground. Quiet murmurs were heard from behind her, she couldn't see anything in the dark except the bouncing light off objects from the fire.

“Finally woken up hum?” a woman voice came up from behind her. Kagome struggled to turn around but failed.

“Where are we? My friends and husband where are they?” she demanded.

The woman chuckled then came up from behind her. The voice was that of someone who looked like the man that caught Inuyasha and Shippo as they jumped. She was tall, over 6 and half feet with bright brown eyes and blonde hair ran between large bat ears. She was smiling at Kagome, showing off a full set of fangs. “They're safe darlin'. Now don't you fret, Night and Shadow are coming for you and your buddies soon. Bring something for us to feed on. Maybe some food for you as well,” the large bat walked back where she came from and soon returned with a loveseat in hand. She gently placed in to the ground in front of Kagome before jumping on it into a laying position.

“Where are we?” Kagome asked again

“In my and my brother's house…er…if you can call it a house. It's actually a warehouse if you must be specific. Any more questions I'm quite bored and none of your friend have woken up yet so you're the only person to talk to.”

“What's your name?” Kagome continued. She finally gave up trying to stand in such an awkward position and sat on the cold cement floor.

“I'm Bennie the Bat,” Bennie replied with a smile again.

Kagome was silent for a moment or two, just watching her captor. “You're not really that mean are you?”

Bennie looked away from the black haired human before she answered. “No we're not. We've just been dealt some bad cards over the years as Shadow says. It's not our fault the way we act. Our experiences shape our personality and living in our conditions wouldn't give anyone the nicest disposition.

“He sounds quite wise for someone his age,” she remarked.

Bennie shrugged. “We all think he's a reincarnation of some great leader. I'd bet good things that he has some royal blood in him. But why a royal would be on the streets is beyond me. That's just my opinion. He'd just shrug it off though, he's to honest. ”

“So where are they really?”

“Like I said, getting something to feed on, they'll probably bring me something back though,” she leaned her head lazily to look at Kagome. Just then her large bat ears twitched and swiveled to face behind her. “They're back. See you in a second.” Then she rose without the awkwardness most would expect from someone like her. Kagome tried to watch her but lost sight of her captor. She fought her body to keep her eyes open but soon lost the battle.

Bennie walked to the door and opened it just as the underground tai-youkai strode through followed by his twin then her brothers. She could sense the relived tension from the feeding by the group. She turned to her older brother who nodded at her. She could now go hunt on her own now. Guard duty done. If only she could find the right man…

><><><><><><><><& gt;<><><><><><><><><> <><><><><
There you see her. Sitting there across the way
She don't got a lot to saw, but there's something about her
You don't know why but you're dyin' to try you wanna kiss the girl.

Kagome was elbowed from her sleep by Sango. She turned to her friend to see she looked no worse for wear but was like her, tied up. It was then she realized the light singing from behind her. The words just a whisper but so full of heart, she remembered the song from her childhood. It was sung beautifully, Kagome listened harder to try and catch the rest.

Yes you want her, look at her you know you do
Possible she wants you too there's just one way to ask her.
It don't take a word, not a single word
Go on and kiss the girl.

She turned to Sango who silently nodded that she had no idea what was happening. Kagome then asked “When did you wake up?”

“Just a few moments ago, I heard yelling and a really high-pitched sound that nearly busted my ear drums. Nasty sound. Some nasty sounding conversation in what seemed to be Spanish then I heard the door slam and most of them left. I think it's just the one guy left here. He started to hum for a bit then just as you woke up he started….well you know.”

Sha-la-la-la-la-la
My, oh, my looks like the boys to shy
He ain't gonna kiss the girl
Sha-la-la-la-la-la
Aint that sad?
Ain't it a shame?
Too bad he's gonna miss the girl

“Sounds sad,” Kagome whispered. She wiggled enough to loosen the binds a bit. She leaned far enough she could finally see the man who was singing. It was the man they were trying to catch- who had ended up catching them- standing over what seemed to be a counter. From what she could see he was massively tall. Taller then even Sesshoumaru she thought. From here he didn't look to be the mass murder Darcy had named him.

Now's the moment
Floating in the blue lagoon
Boy you better do it soon-no time will be better
She don't say a word and she won't say a word until you kiss the girl

He turned enough to see that he cooking something on an old beat up stove. Steam rose from what ever was in the pot.

“Sounds like a damn freak,” a snitty voice came from her left side. She turned to see her mate awake and pissy as usual. He had his pouty face on with his bottom lip out a bit.

“I don't think he sounds like a freak. I quite like it.”

He faced her and raised a thick black brow. “Sounds like a wuss. And this is the guy that has Darcy shaking in his pants. This is quite sad.”

“He may sound like a wuss but you must admit he's been the only one in centuries to actually catch us and hold at least one of hostage,” Miroku piped in letting all know he was now awake.

Sha-la-la-la-la-la
Don't be scared you got the mood prepared
Go on and kiss the girl
Sha-la-la-la-la-la
Don't stop now don't try and hide it how
You wanna kiss the girl

“Oh shut-up Miro,” Inuyasha snapped. Kagome giggled because she knew how it was killing him not being able to cross his arms in his pouty mood progressed. Her reply was a shooting glare from his golden eyes. Kagome was about shoot her own glare when she saw her husbands eyes change colour.

“Shit!” he whispered. Kagome shook her head. This could not be happening! But the now midnight black hair and clawless hands proved them wrong. They had forgotten that tonight was the new moon. She looked at him now. He looked terrified and she knew it. They were held captive and even if they by some miracle escaped their enemy would now know his human night.

Sha-la-la-la-la-la
Float along and listen to the song- Song say kiss the girl
Sha-la-la-la-la-la music play Do what the music say
You gotta kiss the girl
Kiss the girl…go on and kiss the girl

Movements from behind her alerted her that the man that captured them was walking towards them. She felt Inuyasha stiffen beside her as black clad legs came into view. The man squatted down to eye level -or at least as close as he could manage- and smiled at them. The group couldn't help but gasp at his face. For Inuyasha looking into his captures face was like looking in a mirror. The same face line, same eye shape and colour, same hair, same nose, same everything with the exception of the youkai like ears and thin scar circling his neck.

“Would you mind if I put a bit of spice in your meal?” he asked innocently with a pleased smile on his face.

I do not own the song `Kiss the Girl' used in the movie the `Little Mermaid' nor the characters from the anime/manga Inuyasha. Although I do own my own characters and plot.

Ok so I finally finished this one. I'm in a writer's class this year (the big grade 12 lol) and it's helping me get back into my writing.
