Nuraku chuckled as he sat with his younger brothers before a long square table. He tugged idly on his dark curly hair, thinking…plotting his next move. The attack on the wolf den had produced a profitable amount of fur and it was time, he believed, for a return visit.

So what`n ya think we should do? The good father said we ain't aloud ta be hunt`n them wolves no more.” Muso said, unconsciously raising his hand to finger the scapular beneath his woolen shirt. Muso wasn't any less of a hunter than his two older brothers; he just feared what the Father Oryon was capable of. He had been run out of a town before by a church back in England, he neither wanted nor needed to experience that again. “He say them natives don't take to people kill`n them cuz they be spirits `n whatnot.”

“Pa!” Onigumo spat. “He say`n these be their god given land `n the Lord sent us here as guests till we can head on home.”

”These lands were given to US by God, for it was His hand that guided our ships to safety during that storm! He sent us here to purge this new world of the evil that inhabits it. The others don't see it yet, but they will. Yes, killing these wolves would entice a war between us and the natives, but a battle is just what we need to destroy those heathen!” Naraku's grin widened. Yes, he would be the one to destroy all evil. Those vile creatures could never have been God's creation, living on this sacred island in sin.

Just then something hard and fast hit the door to their home; again and again it pounded, shaking the mugs on the table. Nuraku rose to greet his guests, pulling back the heavy wooden barrier to allow the seven men entrance into his home. Muso rose as well, greeting Bankotsu and Jakotsu, two valued friends he had the pleasure of accompanying on the voyage over. If it hadn't been for them, he probably would have drowned in the choppy waves before coming anywhere near the rocky beach to the south of the village.

Jakotsu rushed into the house, not even acknowledging Nuraku who stood at the door to greet him and his brothers. “My dear Muso, how long it has been?!” Jakotsu greeted him warmly with a firm handshake and a brief peck on the lips. Muso was used to the man's outrageous behavior, but a shudder still ran through him whenever he was the recipient of such attention. He sent a small prayer of thanks to the heavens that he was nowhere near Jakotsu's type.

Bankotsu waved to him after formally greeting his host. Smiling brightly he thumped Muso on the back. “How is it going my friend? I heard you got yourself into a pickle last week. Caught in your own bear trap eh? I wish I could have seen it!”

”It weren't no bear trap,” Muso grumbled.

”It latched onto you and hurt like hell, that's all I care about!” He laughed.

Nuraku cleared his throat, motioning for everyone to take their seats. Bankotsu sat opposite Naraku on the large table, with Jakotsu on his right and Renkotsu on his left. His other brothers filled in the seats between them.

“I believe you said you had made a rather interesting discovery.” Bankotsu said, his friendly manner disintegrating like water on a hot stone.

“We were just discussing our plans for the next assault against the wolves.”

“The Father ain't gonna let you anywhere near that mountain with guns.” Ginkotsu stated.

“Indeed,” replied Renkotsu. “Oryon has a bit of a soft spot for the inhabitants of this island, its said one of them saved his daughter when there were no doctors.”

“Yes,” Naraku smiled sinisterly behind his cupped hands, pressed lightly against his lips, “but I have recently discovered a very interesting secret.”

Nine inquisitive pairs of eyes turned to him.

It appears our dear Father Oryon has been hiding a demon within his home.” He announced.

“You mean Inuyasha is…” Jakotsu trailed off.

“How do you know this?” Bonkotsu questioned.

“I have witnessed his horrific transformation myself.”
