Dark Soul of the Future, White Heart of the Past

Episode 11: Dark Battle, Tetsusaiga VS Mormegail.

"Warrior who wields a sword made from the Iron Fang clashes with the beast who wields a sword that is flooding with darkness… can the Iron fang pierce through the darkness and cut down the beast or will the darkness consume the Iron fang and it's wielder? The dark battle to the death has began…" - Unknown

(For Back round music: Duel of fates - Techno Remix)

The battle field was lit up with thunder, thunder made from white and gold colliding with dark and red, in the middle of that thunderstorm of power stood two figures with they're swords locked… Inuyasha and Kasaraki, with they're swords Tetsusaiga and Mormegail locked in a contest of power, neither wielding one bit… the thunder and power that emitted from these two swords and beings was maddeningly intense, just watching it made you feel numb everywhere in your body…

The swords remained locked, forming an X between them and they're eyes locked onto one another yet again, neither was thinking… only feeling and acting, the adrenalin was making them blind to their surroundings and all they could see was each other… a true duel, no outsiders, only the two fighting… one would die and the other would live…

At the exact same moment, both jumped back from each other but before the wind created from they're power contest could die down, they ran towards one another and they're swords impact once again but this time they didn't lock, instead they separated and kept trying to do short, quick strikes instead of heavy ones… but no matter how Kasaraki or Inuyasha used they're swords… whenever the blow came from above, sideways, below or by some weird angle, the other one always came the opposite way, as if fighting a reflection… they would spin, dodge, attack and block each others attacks… when they moved to either gain distance or to close in, it was like a blur… a truly majestic fight… but it was also a fight that… had no real, `enemy' in it… when they had been fighting Naraku or any of the other evil people they'd come across, the battle was always `good vs evil' so there was always a bad guy behind it…

But this fight was not like those previous ones, sure Inuyasha wanted to kill Kasaraki for what he did to Kagome but… they didn't see Kasaraki as an `evil' person, he didn't emit any of that evil Naraku had possessed, he was simply… fighting, no evil or back thoughts, just fighting to survive, like they had been doing all this time… so in a way, this was a battle against they're own will to live… sounds confusing but that's how I see it.

Kouga was literally, trembling from the sheer feeling of the battle, this fight was so… unreal, a hanyou standing off with someone that could kill 3 ogres with a single blow and had a presence that made Naraku feel like a child… yet, that dog shit seemed to completely ignore it and just keeps fighting, like this was just another battle to him… a hanyou was evenly fighting with that monster while he, a full blooded youkai was trembling?! This could not be possible, why was he afraid?! Why… why was he afraid while that hanyou just kept fighting like that?! That dog shit was fighting to save Kagome… but she was Kouga's woman so why wasn't he himself able to fight?! This was a bigger blow to his pride than anything else so far… a hanyou was fighting to save his woman while he, her mate wasn't able to even move! It made no sense to him… why?

Kagome watched what she could from her `state'… Inuyasha was so awesome, over 4 years his sword fighting skills had improved so tremendously and were almost equal to Sesshoumaru's… the fight was to the death but Kagome couldn't help but be in a state of awe over the fight, the thunder effect they're swords produced on each hit was simply majestically breathtaking, not to mention they're movement was so fast…

Kagome knew though as to why Inuyasha sometimes became so fast and powerful, since Inuyasha had Tai-youkai (Great demon) blood in him that mixed with his human blood, now because of his human blood he wasn't fully able to use the Tai-youkai blood he possessed since his human side was scared of it, but, since he was a inu (dog) hanyou, his human and dog side possessed one things they had in common: Dog's eternally loyal instinct to protect his/her pack and mate, so whenever someone from his pack was in danger, his human and youkai side would agree on one thing: Protect them, so the fear his human side held for his youkai side will be replaced with that desire to protect someone, making them work in unison.

However, this `ability' was purely subconscious and worked by instinct so he couldn't really `tell' his instincts to work like that, that is why Kagome never told it to him, since it would make him aware of it and that would make it harder to bring it out anymore… the difference between this ability and his turning into a full youkai was that when he turned full youkai he would only protect himself from death but this ability made him protect others regardless of what happened to himself.

(Hope that made sense, when you review you MUST tell me if that made sense.)

Inuyasha was not in that `mode', she could see it… her training helped her see everyone's auras and Inuyasha's was now greatly increased… this made her relieved, in that `mode' he could match even his own brother step-by-step… but Kagome was still worried, while Inuyasha's aura was now great, Kasaraki's aura was… otherworldly, she couldn't place how strong it was since she had never seen or felt anything like it but… somewhere in the depths of her soul, she knew him… but how?

Kikyo stared at the battle, watching Inuyasha move and match Kasaraki blow by blow, move by move… she couldn't help but think: `Inuyasha… you truly are magnificent… your movements, your skills and you're feelings… they are all so pure and strong, if only… if only I would have realised you're inner purity instead of thinking of you as a hanyou, an impure breed… would things be different? Would all this have been avoided? All this suffering and… no, it's too late to think like this, the past cannot be changed anymore and this is the result of what we did, the only thing I can do for you know by beloved Inuyasha is to make sure you and my reincarnation… no, she is not just a reincarnation, she is everything I wanted to be, a free woman with a strong spirit… the only thing I can do for the two of you now is to destroy Kasaraki… then, you two can live together, free to love and cherish each other… I am so sorry for everything, I hope this will be enough to atone for all the grief and pain I caused you both…'

Kasaraki was swinging his sword against Inuyasha's sword, at first he had been cool during the battle after a certain point his mind began to numb, everything was moving in slow motion and he could hear EVERYTHING happening around him, from his heartbeat to blood screaming and boiling in his veins, he could even see and hear his sword as it cut the air like water when it moved, then the sound when they're swords clashed was making his head spin… this was the feeling, the feeling of pure battle… the best drug that you could imagine when fighting, the sensation was in-describable, it was so amazing… it made you numb to everything except this feeling of pure joy when fighting for you life…

He thought to himself: `This… is… amazing, we haven't fought for even 3 minutes and already my mind is becoming heated with the joy of battle, amazing… Inuyasha, I must thank you, I have slept for over 3000 years and now, right after waking up I experience a battle like this… his battle Ki is amazing and the reverse Ki his sword holds make's it hard to repel his attacks since I can't concentrate my own battle Ki to create an opening for an attack… it seems like, I may have to take this up a notch, I have just awoken but I should be able to handle this…'

Inuyasha thought as they're swords clashed again and again: `I can hear it, Tetsusaiga is roaring, his sword is tough and strong and the aura of Tetsusaiga must be sensing it like I am, he and his sword move like two people in a dance, absolute faith in each other's abilities… but, I can't keep this up, I can already feel my body screaming, I can repel his attacks with my sword but those blasts of energy that our impacts emit really heavy to withstand… I must finish him off soon or… no, I must finish him off now!'

They both jumped to gain some distance from one another and as soon as they landed both started panting, they had only fought for 4 minutes but to them it had felt like 10 hours… the panting was not really from exhaustion but from the un-controllable surges of adrenalin that rushed they're bodies, making them feel high… they're eyes were dead focused on one another and both of they're pupils were beast like slits… they didn't see the battle field or the others, just each other… like two beasts trying to kill each other…

As they're panting was settling down, Kasaraki's face turned into a toothily grin and he said with a dark voice: "I must thank you, it's been 3000 years since I've felt like this, this state of whiteness and the feeling of total numbness, this pure joy of battle!" His breathing was heavy now and his eyes were burning with liquid like fire, he was in a trance like state… he only saw Inuyasha, no one else, everything else was just coloured wind…

Inuyasha felt a cold shiver run through his spine, the look in his eyes was creepy… it only held the pure joy of battle… no evil, no sadistic tendencies or anything, just the joy of battle… this guy was good alright, strong, fast, cunning and his sword skills were top notch… but the thing that frightened him was his coolness, sure his eyes held joy of battle but… he wasn't nervous, not at all… it was like, this battle wasn't a battle to him at all but instead it was his `feeling of being alive', like fighting itself was sustaining him… a true monster… but… he also felt that somewhere in the depths of his soul, he knew this guy, somehow… but how?

Then Kasaraki while slowly putting his sword horizontally to his right side and said with a serious voice: "Inuyasha, you have proven you have the speed and strength but do you have what it takes to counter my SWORDS power…? Or in other words, do you have the strength to defend against my lethal technique?" Inuyasha was at first confused about what he meant but then he senses and saw his sword gathering the same familiar energy and wind that would be formed into the attack that destroyed those two ogres with a single hit: =Kuroi Kaze No Jigoku= (Dark Wind of Hell)

Inuyasha shouted to the others around him: "Everyone! Take cover! This is going be a huge attack!!" And with that, everyone, including Kouga, took quite an amount of distance between these two as Kagome kept praying in her mind for anything to help Inuyasha… she had seen what that attack did and just the thought of what would happen if it hit her Inuyasha… she wanted to say something, anything! But… it was useless, all she could do was watch as Kouga set her down next to a tree at the edge of the field and turn to look at the scene at hand, her gaze too was locked onto it as the air around Kasaraki's sword began to vibrate and create wind waves from the attack… it would only take seconds to use the technique but watching it like this was torturously slow… she kept praying and hoping Inuyasha would survive this, if something happened to him it would be her fault for since it was because of her that Kasaraki got out in the first place… she kept hoping and praying, not knowing if gods would answer her plea…

Inuyasha raised his own sword above his head and could feel the wind gathering around his sword as well, yet, he could feel the desperation in his swords wind when it kept colliding with Kasaraki's wind… he could also feel his arms trembling, he knew that this would now be an all or nothing gamble… he wouldn't be able to use =Bakkuryuha= against this attack because he knew his own aura could not overpower his, the difference in them was just too great… so he had to rely on =Kaze No Kizu= (Wound of the Wind/Wind Scar) to be able to stop his attack, or at least make it slow down long enough to dodge it… this was a tight pinch, the last time he had felt like this was when he fought Ryuukotsusei, (That was the name of the dragon that his father couldn't defeat and where he learned Bakkuryuha right?) he had only one shot at this, if he failed, he would be blasted into ashes… and Kagome… would forever remain like that… a lifeless statue… not even being able to speak or even make the tiniest of sounds… `NO!! I will save her, no matter what, I love her and I will never, ever, lose her to anyone!!'

Kasaraki saw something change in Inuyasha's eyes again, just like when they started this fight, his eyes hardened just like that, so determined it made him shiver… he could also feel his battle Ki, You-Ki and the wind that spiralled his sword becoming more and more intense, all the way to the point where it was frightening, so he was now going push himself to the limits now? He was going to risk everything on this one last attack… all for the sake of one person… this was such a beautiful moment, he could feel his Mormegail tremble from the effects they're combined winds caused, both physical wind and [spiritual wind]… the battle field felt like it was in the middle of an impeding hurricane, they're swords trembling at each others winds, they're eyes locked onto a steel hard staring, they're muscles tensed to the limits and both of they're clothes and hairs were twisting and turning because of the wind… they were simply waiting to see who moved first, the one to make the next move could be the last one they will ever make…

The winds were intense…

The air was filled with the crackling of energy…

They're eyes burned with concentration…

The ones witnessing the whole fight were silent and ready to shield themselves…

Then, two phrases echoed through the battle field…

=Kuroi Kaze no Jigoku!!= Which released a massive wave of Black, dark red and violet coloured wind, which formed to look like a horizontal tornado…

=Kaze no Kizu!!= Which after slamming down on the ground released several lethal waves of golden energy surrounded by blue/white lighting…

Who shall live…? Who shall die…?

To be continued…

[Spiritual wind]: When Inuyasha sniffed out the point in the opponents You-Ki to perform the first version of Kaze no Kizu, that is also called spiritual wind that only people with proper training or natural abilities can see, it is in another words, the `wind' that a persons aura or soul produces.
