Dinner

I was so engrossed in helping Kaede with preparing dinner that I barely noticed the added presence. I did however recognize the scent of the person. If I were a dog demon I swear I would've been growling. But I decided to be the bigger person and leave him alone.

**********Inuyasha

When I caught a whiff of her scent I thought it was just my imagination. It had been so long since I'd last seen her I wondered if she were real. So I followed her scent to the one place I hadn't been since she left. It held too many memories with her.

When I got to Kaede's hut I saw that she was helping the old hag prepare dinner. I could tell that she was aware of my presence by the way she stiffened ever so slightly. She looked so different from before. She was no longer the same small girl who relied on me to protect her, but a strong woman who needed no one. Before I could stop myself, her name escaped my lips.

**********Kagome

"Kagome." I heard him say my name as he did that walking doll.

I ignored him as best as I could but I could feel the sorrow and guilt radiate off of him in waves. I turned to look at him and what I saw almost brought me to tears. He looked horrible. There were dark circles under his eyes and it appeared as though he hadn't eaten for weeks.

"Inuyasha." Despite his appearance I still acknowledged him as a mere acquaintance. I know it hurt him but I refuse to bestow pity upon him. I turned back to the stew and resumed helping.

"Why are you here?" he asked.

"Wow, Inuyasha. I never thought that'd it'd be illegal for me to come and visit my friends now ad then. Oh and you too."

`Jeez, that was harsh Kag. You think you could be any worse.' Kage said. In a way she was right. But that wasn't the point.

Inuyasha was about to respond when two other figures walked in.

"Kagome, oh wow. It's been so long how are you. Are you having ay trouble? Dou you need any help? It's about time you came to see us." Sango said all in one breath.

"Lady Kagome How nice it is to see you. I trust you're fairing well. But I must wonder, where is Shippo?"

"Shippo is asleep in the corner on an extra pillow, see?" I pointed to where Shippo was sleeping.

Miroku nodded.

"So what brings you here, on such short notice?"

"Well I actually came to see Kaede about Naraku."

"Naraku? What's he got to do with anything?" Inuyasha asked.

I'd subconsciously forgot that he was even in the room until now.

"Well now that you asked I guess I'll tell you. I killed him. And before you start denying that a weak human such as myself could possibly defeat someone like Naraku, you should know that he had this with him."

I pulled out the Shikon no Tama to show them what I meant.

"What the hell do you mean he had the jewel?! If he did have it then there's no way in hell that you could've beaten him."

I could've laughed at Inuyasha's outrage. It appears as though his male ego was seriously damaged. This was too rich.

"Like I said, I killed him while he had the jewel with him. Which is why I came to see Kaede in the first place. I don't know how it happened anyway. So she told me that I wasn't really the reincarnation of Kikyo but of Midoriko instead. And that the only reason why I look like Kikyo is because I'm her physical reincarnation, and Midoriko's spiritual reincarnation."

"Hmm, well this certainly is a slight complication." Miroku stated. "However, that still doesn't explain how you were able to defeat him with the jewel in his possession."

I explained everything to everyone in the simplest way possible. Sango and Miroku were impressed but Inuyasha was brooding in a corner.

`He's obviously ticked that he was so easily surpassed by a human, a human female no less.' Kage said.

`Oh well, it isn't my fault that he has a big ego.'

"Okay guys, dinner's ready."

I went to wake up Shippo and told him to come and eat. Dinner was uneventful aside from Shippo annoying Inuyasha every chance he got, and me sitting Inuyasha, there were a couple of injuries on the monk's part from Sango. It was good to know that everything was okay. Pretty soon everyone was tired out and decided that it would be best to go to bed. Inuyasha went to his usual tree and I noticed that Sango and Miroku had cuddled in a corner. I guess that she and Miroku finally got together.

`It's about time.' I thought.

As I got into my futon I noticed a powerful demonic aura approaching. I silently went outside to see what it was. It was a demon all right but I didn't expect to see the one that was in front of me.

Whoohoo!!!!! Another chapter done. Gee, I wonder who the demon is? I bet I know who you think I is and you're most likely wrong. Muhahahahahahahahaahahahahaha!!!!!!!! I am evil!!!!!!! Evil cliffy!!!!!! Hahahahahahaha!!!!! Ahem…anyway…there will be character death in the next chapter. You have been warned. Anyway I'm letting you guys know now that the school year is starting soon and it's my last year in jr. high so I'm gonna get homework coming out of my ass. So if my updates are a little spaced it's because of those evil bastards at the prison I call my school.
