Darkness

It's thundering above me,
But I don't hear it.
 
The ground below me shakes,
But I don't feel it.
 
I watched you turn away from me,
Walking through the snow.
 
I ran after you,
Calling out you name.
 
Soon I can't see you,
The snow's becoming too thick.
 
I finally gave up on the chase,
And fell to the ground in defeat.
 
It's thundering above me,
But I don't hear it.
 
The ground below me shakes,
But I don't feel it.
 
I looked up into the gray,
Cloudless, depressing sky.
 
My tears streaming down my face,
Releasing all my inner pain.
 
I hear a horn blaring,
And I see a horrifying monster.
 
My mouth opens in a silent scream,
With my face twisted in horror.
 
It's thundering above me,
I don't hear it.
 
The ground below me shakes,
And, this time I feel it.
 
I saw the horrifying monster once more,
Before my world became..........
 
A black void of nothingness.
