Chapter Twenty Six- Naraku takes Kagome back

The moment the ship docked and the dark figure of a man stepped off, with a emotionless girl carrying a mirror followed behind Kagome felt like dying. It was time she realised, he had finally come after her.

Inuyasha noticed the fear in her eyes when she saw the figures and the boat and he suddenly felt very wary and protective. When the dark figure came closer Kagome's grip on Inuyasha's sleeve tightened and he realised she was stopping herself from running. She was very tense and very afraid.

So when the dark figure was within an arms length Inuyasha stood protectivly in front of Kagome and hid her from his sight. The man with demons eyes did not even look at him, all he seemed interested with was Kagome who cowered behind Inuyasha.

"Who are you? And what do you want?" Inuyasha growled bluntly hand going to the tetsaiga.

Sesshomaru did not seem to make any move to stop him but Sango and Miroku shook their head warningly. If this demon was any danger they would wait till he made his first move.

Because Inuyasha had been so blunt and because Naraku didn't like to waste time he said "I am King Naraku, from across the sea." He gestrued to Kanna "This is my 'daughter' Kanna and that" He pointed to Kagome and called her 'that' as if she were nothing more than a possesion "Is my wife"

Kagome choked back a cry of fright Inuyasha gasped and Sesshomaru squinted his eyes suspiciously.

Inuyasha was going to growl something with many rude and terrible words and possibly try to fight Naraku when Sesshomaru stepped in.

"I'm sorry, Naraku" Sesshomaru was using a fake politeness "But she is already mated to my brother prince Inuyasha. She is very happy here and when we found her she was half wild in the forest. I think you should leave" He said the last bit with contempt.

"Ha" Naraku laughed and acted as if it was a joke "She is a wild one, she ran away from me some time ago. But she is my WIFE and was given to me by her father. It is my RIGHT to take her back. You can do nothing about it"

Kagome thought frantically 'Please don't make me go back with him'

Inuyasha could feel her tense behind him and the smell of her fear was growing stronger by the minute.

"She wants to stay here" Inuyasha said with the sam fake politeness as Sesshomaru.

Naraku frowned and then turned to Kanna with a smile "Does she really?"

Kagome could feel the spell begin and she could feel it wrap around her body. Like the time in the castle were everyone did as they were forced and had no free will. With all her might she fought it but this time Naraku was ready and he was not going to loose her. She felt her legs moves as she stepped out from behind Inuyasha.

He looked at her with shook and even fear. Kagome had no control of her body, or her voice, it was all Naraku but Inuyahsa didn't know.

"I want to go home" She said calmly standing behind Naraku though inside she felt like jumping away.

Inuyasha looked at her as if she had hit him across the face or stabbed him in the heart. She could see the hurt and wanted desperatly to scream 'No! I don't want to go with him'.

She struggled with her body that would not listen and tried with vain to stop her mouth from opening. This fight caused tears to spill from her eyes, which seemed the only thing that shone with truth. She hoped he could see it, that she was being controlled but as he looked into her eyes his own were filled with sorrow.

"With my husband" The words seemed to cut into Inuyasha's soul and everything fell to peices before him. The woman he had fought so hard for, the woman he loved was breaking his heart. "I never want to see you again"

That was all he could take he turned away from her and clentched his fists. She hated him, she lied to him 'why?' his confused mind thought. Tears still spilled from her eyes. "Go then, if everything i offered you was nothing."

'No!' Kagome's mind thought trying to reach him 'Make me stay, I don't want to go with him. I don't hate you I love you!' But he could not hear her.

Everyone watched with solemn and sad expressions as Kagome, still trapped under the spell, tears running freely down her face followed Kanna and Naraku back to the boat.

When the spell was finally lifted they were well on their way home. Kagome screamed and cried out at the side of the deck. She watched the crashing waves and her tears spilling into the sea. She remembered the day Inuyasha had taken her from her home. She wanted to jump, she wanted to drown then she would be safe but she found she still could not do it either by spell or her own will she could not jump.

Her knees buckled beneath her and she cried on the floor. Silently because her voice was sore from screaming she prayed. She was not sure to whom she prayed, only hoped that someone would hear her and answer her plea 'Please let him know that i love him, let him be free of the spell that bound him to me and then let me die'

With delicacy she ran a finger over the mark on her neck and felt the world turn black as she fainted from exhaustion.

Far across the seas in Naraku's dungeon one creature did hear. Kilala, who was not so weak she could hardly keep her eyes open thought in return 'Neither you nor Midoriko can defeat Naraku. You are stong child, but sometimes you can rely on the ones you love to be there for you'

Midoriko was filled with terro when she saw Kagome, the girl seemed tired, lifeless. She was hardly moving, a plate of food beside her untouched as she lay in the darkest corner of the room. Midoriko knew she had only just been refound and brought back for she had been there when Naraku pulled her off the boat.

Now Midoriko was both filled with excitement and fear. She had decided it was time to fight back and the thought of finally being at peace filled her with excitement it was the actual fight that worried her.

"Kagome" The ghost woman whispered.

"Midoriko?" In an instant all the life came back to Kagome and she was smiling and happy.

"This is it" Midoriko said "No more running or hiding it it time to fight back!"

At first Kagome stared at her uncertain. She thought about Inuyasha and her dream of Kilala speaking to her when she had fainted. But then she resolved that this time he was not coming and she would have to fend for herself. She clentched her fists and nodded.

Like mice in the night they snuck through the castle. Most people were to afraid to say anything believing that a ghost was in the castle. Others just didn't seem to notice them at all. These poor people were under a spell.

They made it to the front door but it seemed to easy. They didn't know that their every movement was being watched by Kanna in her mirror. Kagura and Naraku were watching as well and he was enraged by Kagome's attepmt to escape.

Inuyasha paced his room angrily. Everything was running through his mind over and over again. Kagome telling him she never wanted the see him again, the fear and tears in her eyes. It seemed like a horrible nightmare.

Everyone told him to just give up and forget about her, to move on with his life. But he could not. There was something so wrong, something nagging at the back of his mind. Her scent was everywhere in his room it didn' bother him only her abscence did. He wanted her here, he didn't want her to leave.

He couldn't believe what she said was true. It couldn't be true, the word she had said were a lie. He thought back to it and tried to remember what had started this nagging feeling.

He remembered the ghost womans words "listen properly and not with those ears of yours".

He hadn't listened properly for the words that passed her lips were not her own. Her true words had been reflected in her tears in her eyes that were filled with fear and pain. He had caused her pain and she was in danger. He had to go save her!

Naraku stood in front of them, poisonous miasma everywhere, tentacles flailing in the air. He stood in their path, he always stood in the way of their freedom and it would only be with his death that they would gain life. So this time Midoriko and Kagome were not going to run away.

It was a face-off between the two but neither flinched or took their eyes off the other. Naraku was angry and by his side were Kanna and Kagura but noth stood a distance away obviously not wanting to fight.

Kagome felt the fear in her heart and the anger bubbling and growing. She didn't show him she was afraid though, she only glared at him angrily.

Midoriko, after hundreds of years of being afaid of him, hiding and running from him, from the man who took her freedom and her soul, it was the first time she had evern stood for so long in his prescence without Kilala. She was determined to end it, with either her death or his.

a/n: I don't think Naraku would kill them though...
