New Recruit

“No I'm not doing it.” Sesshoumaru crossed his arms and frowned

“Oh c'mon Sesshoumaru, if you can mimic dance moves dat you see, think of all the shit you could pull off.” Moc smiled

“I don't care. I'm not dancing with your group.”

“Don't' tell me the great Sesshoumaru Taisho has stage fright?” Rin frowned

“I don't, I just don't dance.” Sesshoumaru corrected

“You just did!” Moc yelled

“That's because everyone thought I couldn't dance.”

“He's a Squall.” Rin shook her head

“Excuse me?” Sesshoumaru frowned

“Squall from FF eight, he could dance, he just `didn't'.”

“Yo I saw dat!” Break laughed, “Slide to the left, slide to right.”

Sesshoumaru shook his head once more and proceeded to leave.

“Where da hell do you think you're goin'?” Rin yelled

“Home.” Sesshoumaru said coldly, “This day is over.”

 

Rin followed Sesshoumaru out to his car.

“I don't see why you won't, it'll be fun.”

Sesshoumaru was silent.

“I know it wasn't part of the deal…but I know you'll like it.”

He then turned to her, “I won't say it again.”

Rin inhaled deeply and looked down at her feet, finally exhaling she came to solution, “Fine, but you are going clubbing with us, and you will dance.”

“Rin…”

“That's final or you can forfeit now. I don't mind a few G's in my pocket. And seein' ya run home with ya tail between ya legs, das good too.”

Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes, “I accept your terms.” He flung his door open and with a surprising amount of anger, he started his car and drove off.

Rin smirked, knowing that all she had to do was attack his ego and he would do just about anything. See, men like him are just too attached to their ego. She shook her head and walked back to Mocs'.

 

The rest of night went as it always did; a little more practice then everyone went home. Rin yawned as she drove home, thinking about what the next step would be.

“Ok, we got da clothes,” she yawned, “da hair, surprisingly da moves…I guess all dat's left is da attitude. He gonna catch an ass whoopin' he keep talking shit. Fuck around wit wrong person and get knocked out.”

Rin pulled up into the drive way and made her way inside. The routine was memorized, although Rin took no notice of it. Her day and nights began and ended the same. She shut her bedroom door and sat on her bed. Maybe it'd be nice if I wasn't stuck like dis. Same thang day in day out bullshit. Maybe dat's why I wanted Sesshoumaru to do dis…maybe I need a lil more excitement. Then Rin thought about that last thought and laughed. She was living an exciting life already. Sesshoumaru was just the icing on her cake and the extra flip in her dance routine. She slowly removed her clothing and got in bed. And tomorrow will be just anotha day.

 

The next day Rin awoke early for school. She smiled and thought about what had taken place the day before. She slowly rose from the bed and got in the shower. Once she was so fresh and so clean she dressed and headed downstairs for breakfast.

 

“Ohayou.” Rin's mother sang sweetly

“Ohayou okaasan.”

Rin's father entered the kitchen, “How are your new tires?”

“They're just fine. Break's cousin found me a good deal.”

“Good.” Her father sat down and began to read the morning paper

 

Their morning conversation was like always. Rin talked about school, her father talked about his new case, and her mother babbled on about old childhood memories. Their conversations were never boring and Rin cherished them every morning.

 

Rin finished her orange juice and looked at her parents “As much as I love talking to you, I have to get going.”

“Ok, be good.” Her mother smiled

“Have a good day, and stay out of trouble Rin.” Her father eyed her over his newspaper

“I will, as always.” Rin smiled and kissed them both

 

Once she arrived in school people were talking amongst themselves. They all seemed in utter shock. Rin walked up to Kagome, noticing the girl was also in deep conversation with Sango.

 

“What's going on?” Rin asked looking at the girl's astonished faces

“You will not believe this.” Sango shook her head, “Sesshoumaru got a hair cut.”

“He never cuts his hair.” Kagome added, “Apparently his dad freaked out when he saw him yesterday and said something about gangsters but Inuyasha wouldn't tell me the rest.”

“Oh.” Rin tried to act as if she knew nothing about it.

 

Right then Sesshoumaru came waltzing down the hall in his uniform and new hair style. Rin smiled devilishly inside and continued to watch as Kagura walked up to him.

“What are you doing back at school so early?” Sesshoumaru folded his arms

“My dad pulled a few strings.”

“As always.”

“I like your new hair style, but it's not as cute as when you had it long.”

Sesshoumaru continued to stare at her without comment.

“Anyway, who are you taking to the dance?” Kagura attempted to smile sweetly

Rin could see the slow evil smile in Sesshoumaru's eyes, “Rin Takahashi.”

Kagura's face dropped, and then turned into utter anger, “You're fucking kidding me!”

“Not in the least.” And with that said Sesshoumaru walked away with satisfaction

 

Inside Rin's mind she was jumping up and down. Oh hell yeah!! Then she froze up and completely comprehended what he had just said. He's takin me?! She quickly came out of her mind and realized all eyes were on her and Kagura was right in front of her.

“You bitch! What did you do? Ever since you became his partner for this stupid project he's been acting weird.”

“I haven't done anything to him.” Rin turned to walk away

“Oh no you don't.” Kagura grabbed Rin's shoulder and spun her around, “If you want a fight then you've got one.” And just in Kagura fashion she stomped off to her clique

“Oh my god Rin.” Sango exclaimed

“Ok, what's really going on between you and Sesshoumaru?” Kagome demanded

Rin looked to her friends and shrugged, “I guess he wanted to make her mad.”

“Yeah right.” Sango rolled her eyes, “You two have been getting close haven't you?”

Rin shook her head, “We can barely stand each other. Anyway, let's get to class before the bell rings.”

 

Rin had escaped the interrogation by the skin of her teeth. The last thing she wanted was heat from her friends. She started towards Economics and quickly took a seat with Sango and Kagome.

“Have you seen Sesshoumaru's hair?” Miroku asked Rin

“I got a glance before class.”

“And threatened as well.” Sango shook her head

“What did you say to him?” Miroku made a face

“Saying anything at all would make him threaten you.” Inuyasha sneered, “Me just being at home makes him threaten me.”

Kagome rolled her eyes, “Kagura threatened her. Sesshoumaru said he was taking Rin to the dance.”

Miroku and Inuyasha gasped at the same time, “He did!”

Rin nodded her head, “Hai.”

“Why?” Miroku asked with a bug-eyed expression

“I don't know, maybe to piss Kagura off or make her jealous.” She shrugged

“He would do that.” Inuyasha smiled, “She won't go away.”

Their conversation was cut short by the sound of Mr. Han clearing his throat. He gave them a warning glance and began to teach.

 

After a lecture and turning in the progress reports on their projects, everyone got free time.

“I still can't believe it.” Miroku shook his head

“Neither can I.” Rin put her chin in her hand

“So, want to go dress hunting?” Kagome smiled

“Yeah, we were going to ask you to go with us anyway.” Sango added

“Sure, but just because Sesshoumaru said he's going with me, doesn't me I've accepted.”

“I don't think you have a choice.” Sango sighed, “You don't have a date and the dance is this Friday.”

“Well I wasn't going to go in the first place.”

“Excuse me?!” Kagome almost fell out her desk, “We would have never let you stay at home you know.”

“Even if we would have to drag you, you were going to go.” Sango folded her arms

Rin arched her eyebrow, “I bet.”

“Oh come one Rin. Do it just to piss Kagura off even more.” Inuyasha gave a toothy grin

The bell rang and everyone headed to their next class.

 

Things went on as usually. And the longer that nothing happened; Rin felt the worse things would be. She absolutely knew Kagura was up to something. And as always the foreboding feeling Rin had came to a head. It happened when she was at lunch.

 

Sitting at lunch with her most dear and only friends, she heard someone say her name. But it was a voice she had never heard before. Rin turned around and was met with form of a tall feminine young man with long black hair and red eyes.

“You're Rin right.”

“Uh yeah…who are you?”

“I'm Naraku Onigumo.”

“Ok, um…nice to meet you.” Rin now noticed all the eyes of the lunchroom were on her

“Don't talk to this bastard Rin.” Inuyasha growled

“Nice to see you also Inuyasha, Kikyo sends her love.”

“You bastard!” Inuyasha jumped up, but was grabbed by Miroku and Sango

Rin didn't like the way things were going and wanted Naraku to leave, and quickly. “So what do you want?”

“From what I'm told, you've stolen my dear cousin's boyfriend.”

“Excuse me?”

“Sesshoumaru.”

“Ok, well, he didn't ask me to go. He just announced it, I didn't know myself.”

“If you're smart then you won't go. Some things are just not meant to be. And when you try to force them, bad things happen to innocent people.” At that he gave her an evil smirk and walked away

“Don't get mixed up with him Rin.” Kagome warned

“He's Kagura's cousin?” Rin arched and eyebrow

“Yeah, he's our resident drug dealer as well.” Inuyasha huffed

“You're kidding?! Who is Kikyo?” Rin looked around at everyone, “Did I say something wrong?” Rin suddenly became confused

Kagome sighed sadly, “Kikyo was Inuyasha's last girlfriend.”

“And Naraku stole her?” Rin concluded

“No, he got her hooked on meth… then he stole her.” Inuyasha shook his head

“That's sad.” Rin's face sunk

“Anyway!” Miroku clamped his hands together, “Let's talk about the dance.”

 

Lunch continued without any interruptions. Soon Rin found herself in the halls and surprisingly enough she ran into Sesshoumaru.

“Thanks to you, people are talking about us.” Rin said in an accusing tone

Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed but a slim smile grew on his face.

“Why did you do that?” Rin felt the urge to push him into a locker

“Because I can.”

“Well I'm not going with you.”

“You are, and I'll pick you up at seven.”

Rin frowned, “I don't have to do anything…”

“If I have to go `clubbing' with you, then you will go to the dance with me. I have five thousand dollars for you to buy a dress.”

“Nani!!”

“Buy something form fitting, but sophisticated.”

“What makes you think you can boss me around?”

“The fact that I am Sesshoumaru Taisho.” Sesshoumaru turned on his heels, looked over his shoulder with daring eyes, and started for his next class.

“Son of a bitch.” Rin folded her arms and went to locker where she found slut written in red paint. Kagura. Rin almost flew into a rage. She wanted that bitches head on a platter. She was having a bad enough day already.

“I'm glad you're being so open about it.” Kagura sneered from behind

Rin turned to face her, “You did this didn't you?”

“You know, there are plenty of jealous girls around school that would do that.”

“Really, somehow I can only think of one. And she can only spell four letter words.”

“Fuck you Takahashi.” Kagura smiled, “Or is Sesshoumaru doing that for you?”

“He's not, so don't be jealous.”

Their little face off was turning heads and students that should be in class stopped to see what would happen.

“Why don't you go crawl back into the impoverished shit hole you came from?!” Kagura walked up to Rin

“Kagura I don't have time for your bull. How about you go lay on your back for the football team. Oh, and you should really refrain from using words you can't spell.”

Kagura let out a scream and went for Rin but was caught by a silver haired savior. Sesshoumaru held on tight to Kagura, “Don't you think this is a little immature.” He sighed

“Let go of me Sesshoumaru!”

“I don't need your bruising up date.” Sesshoumaru shook his head

“Oh don't worry; I won't be the one getting hurt.” Rin went for Kagura

Sesshoumaru stepped in front of Rin, “This isn't going to happen.”

“Why the hell are you protecting her Sesshoumaru? You don't even like her.” Rin yelled

The principal finally came out to the hall, “What's going on here?!”

Sesshoumaru leaned over and whispered to Rin, “If you get in trouble you can't go to the dance.”

“Mr. Taisho, Miss. Takahashi, and Miss. Mishimoto. How did I guess? Get in my office now!”

Sesshoumaru was the first to talk to the principal leaving Rin and Kagura in the office together.

“I'll get you, you bitch.” Kagura said under her breath

“Really Kagura, what kind of steroids has Naraku been pumping you with?”

Kagura stuck her tongue out, “By the end of the dance, Sesshoumaru will be in my arms. You saw how he kept me out of trouble.”

“Oh yeah, he was really worried about you.” Rin rolled her eyes

“Miss. Mishimoto.” The principal had his arms folded, “In my office now.”

Kagura stood and passed Sesshoumaru on the way in. The principal looked at them, “You two get to your classes.”

 

Sesshoumaru and Rin walked side by side in silence towards their last classes.

Finally Rin broke the ice, “What did you tell him?”

“Kagura tried to hit you before I came in.”

“Do you think she'll be at the dance?”

“Most likely, her father is almost as important as mine. But I do know you'll be at the dance.”

“Why do you want to go with me anyway, payback?”

“Yes, and I enjoy your company.”

Rin looked at him in surprise, “That's not funny.”

“And I'm not joking. Your presence is tolerable, from time to time that is.”

“Don't get attached, once this whole bet thing is over with you won't be seeing me.”

“So you're going to move?” He said in a mocking tone

“Not literally speaking.”

Sesshoumaru chuckled, “I think we've grown quite close.”

“And I think your delusional, you've caused me more attention and trouble than I need.”

“You're welcome.”

“This is my class.” Rin turned and went through the door.

She apologized to the teacher for being late and went to her seat, again with eyes on her.

 

Finally the day was over and Rin let out a long sigh as she approached her car. She found it had been egged and written on with more insulting names and words. She couldn't even begin to read them all. Ain't this a bitch! I'm…

“Nasty.” Naraku came to stand beside Rin

“Was this your doing or Kaguras'?”

“Still wanting to go to that dance?”

Rin turned to Naraku with a sneer on her face, “Let me make this known. The next time anyone touches my car, my locker, anything of mine. I'm going to give you and Kagura hell.”

Naraku smiled, “Just don't think that cars and lockers are the extent of our wrath.”

“Oh fuck you and your wrath.” Rin got into her car.

If dis shit keeps up, I really will have ta bust a cap in somebody's ass. Dis shit don't make no sense!

 

Once Rin walked into the front door with a sour face, her father immediately knew something was wrong.

“What happened at school today?”

Rin turned to him in anger, “Look outside Dad! First Kagura writes all over my locker, and then she tries to fight me. And to top it all of, her friends screw up my car!”

Her father peeks out the window, “Ooh, doushite?”

“Why Dad? She's jealous because Sesshoumaru is my partner, and I don't even like him. You know this would have never happened if we had stayed in Chicago!”

“Rin, I moved us out here to have a better life.”

“But I don't.”

“But at least you're safe.”

“Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. Her cousin threatened me, `Innocent people could get hurt'.” Rin said in a deep mocking voice

“Then we'll talk to the principal.”

“And that'll just make it worse. Look I've got some good friends back in Chicago, why don't you let me move back?”

“Not happening.”

“Why not?”

“Rin you're a big girl, worse social things have happened remember? I know you can work through this…without violence.”

Rin crossed her arms and frowned.

“You're not moving back to Chicago and that's final. Anyway, Tony called.”

“Tony!”

“Aa.”

All the sudden Rin felt ten times better and her day brightened. She quickly took off to her room and headed straight for the phone.

 

She and Tony Wu had been friends since fourth grade. When they got older they started a crew of all races. He liked to call himself the Asian Sensation because of the dare devil stunts he pulled on the dance floor. They were the first ones in their neighborhood to incorporate martial arts with hip hop dancing. She quickly dialed his number and waited for someone to pick up.

“Hello?”

“Big T. Wu!”

“Rin?”

“Hell yeah, my dad said you called.”

“I did. I got some good news, and some great news.”

“Gimme me da good news first dawg!”

“I graduated early.”

“Da great news?”

“I'm comin ta see ya.”

“What?!”

“Yeah, thought I'd make a trip ta Cali, ya mean?”

“Ah das great, we got plenty of room.”

“Good, da Asian Sensations comin ta L.A. baby!”

Rin laughed and they talked about old memories and what they were going to do once he got there.

 

“So yo knew crew da shit huh. Just forget about all of us here huh!” He laughed jokingly

“I haven't forgot.”

“Dis Sesshoumaru dude seems kinda stuck up.”

“He is, and he's in pocket. Dat nigga's money is off da hook.”

“So you gold diggin' now?”

“Not really, but I will be sportin a new dress.”

“Oh!”

“Damn!”

“What?”

“I forgot dat I was supposed to go shoppin'.”

“Din you betta get goin' girl, I see ya in two days aight?”

“Yeah, talk to ya lata.”

“Peace.”

Rin smiled and shook her head. She had to call Kagome and Sango before it was too late.

 

Rin was able to catch Kagome and Sango just in time.

“I'm glad we didn't have to pull you out of your house.” Sango cheered

“Me too, that would've been really embarrassing in front of the neighbors.” Rin giggled

Kagome laughed, “So how much do you have and what are you looking for?”

“Oh no!” Rin put her hand to her forehead

“Dooshitano?”

“Sesshoumaru has five thousand set aside for my dress and I forgot to go get it from him. I'm always forgetting things.”

“You're shitting me?!” Sango let out in a cough half laugh

“What did you just say?” Rin looked at her confused

“Sorry for the language but, Sesshoumaru Taisho is giving you money for your dress. Seriously Rin, what's really going on between you two?”

“Yeah, next thing we know, he's bought you a new Lexus.” Kagome eyed her and then smiled

Rin let out a huff, “He told me to find something tight and sophisticated. He's such an ass; he didn't even give me the chance to decline…”

“Don't, don't you dare think of standing him up. He's buying your dress, giving Kagura what's coming to her, and making you popular.” Kagome took Rin by the shoulders

“Yeah, embrace it, own it, and make it your own.” Sango nodded

“You guys have lost it. Would you go with Sesshoumaru?” Rin looked at the girls

“He's not my type.” Sango shook her head

“I have Inuyasha.” Kagome shrugged

“Exactly, excuses.” Rin started to walk away

Kagome ran to her side, “You guys make a cute couple”

“We're not dating.”

“Not yet.”

“Kagome!” Rin turned to the girl, “I don't want to be his girlfriend, and I barely want to be his friend.”

“Well Rin,” Sango came up, “I remember when you had a crush on him.”

“That was until I met him, he's an asshole.”

“Not when you really get to know him.” Kagome half smiled

“So you know him?”

“I'm dating his brother, I know him well enough.”

Rin rolled her eyes.

“Let's go get that money.” Kagome smiled

“And the dress honey.” Sango swished her hips

“If he acts like an ass at the dance then we'll steal you away.” Kagome nodded her head

“We're not going to leave you in utter Sesshoumaru hell okay.” Sango assured her

“Fine, you've convinced me. Oh yeah, a friend of mine from Chicago's coming to visit me.”

“Really!” Sango smiled, “What's her name?”

“His name, is Tony Wu.”

“A guy?” Kagome said a bit surprised

“Yes.”

“Old bf?” Sango nudged her

“No, we've been friends since fourth grade.”

“Is he cute?” Kagome asked

“Yeah, he's got his charms.” Rin shrugged

“I've got to meet this guy!” Sango balled her fist in excitement

“Well…he's different.”

“Different?” Both the girls said

“Chicago, you know, the…hood part.”

“So he's a gangster or something.” Kagome eyed her

“No, nothing like that! It's just, you know, from a different culture.”

“Okay, that's cool.” Sango nodded then eyed her suspiciously, “Now, let's go visit Sesshoumaru.”
