We could only wish that we all owned Inuyasha and the others, but, sadly, they are all owned by their rightful owners. I do own Derek, Dan, Meg & Melissa (Inuyasha's girlfriend) though.

Chapter 28 - Life's Challenges

Kagome's POV

 

Well…

That was odd…

Sitting with the group for a while was okay, getting odd looks from them all wasn't. Souta knew it was me and was asking me all about what life was like for me as a superstar (even though the little shit already knew). The others just sat there quietly, listening to my answers and asking questions when they could think of something.

Shippo had slowly edged closer to me as the questions were being asked, and I so didn't like it. But I stood my ground, not wanting to do something that would reveal me to everyone here.

Shippo, now sitting right beside me, hugged me suddenly while I was talking to Souta, shocking everyone, me included.

“Kagome,” he said as he looked in my eyes, deep into my eyes, “why are you hiding from us?”

Sango and Rin gasped, Sesshomaru and Souta sucked in a breath suddenly, Meg groaned and I…

I sat there wondering what the fuck he saw gave me away.

I knew that my eyes were wide, my mouth felt like it was centre meters off the dirt. I was looking down at him, never taking my eyes off his.

Something swirled within them.

Something familiar.

I sucked in a breath myself and looked away, unwrapping Shippo from myself.

“Damn you,” I whisper as I bolt away, knowing that this was definitely not the brightest thing to do.

I don't know what got into me. Something was following me yet didn't want to catch up with me yet. I never looked around nor did I stop when Sesshomaru and Meg tried calling for me. Something had freaked me and I had no clue of what it was.

 

O.o

 

Eventually I stopped, seriously out of breathe. I bent forward, resting my hands on my knees and trying to get my breathing back to normal.

Didn't work.

I stood up again and looked around.

A frown crossed my face as I realised that I didn't even know where I was. It was in the school grounds for sure cause I didn't jump any fences (or not that I could remember anyway).

I looked around, surprised to be surrounded by trees and leaves.

“This…” I said aloud to myself, “is definitely weird.”

I sat on the ground for a minute, waiting to hear if anyone had tried following me. Closing my eyes was not the smartest thing because I dreamt.

Of Inuyasha.

But it wasn't a normal dream. I only had one of these ones before.

That one of Sesshomaru-sama.

 

** Dream Start **

 

I was leaning against a tree with my eyes closed, exactly how I was before I slept.

Something was bouncing around in the trees, making minimal amount of noise, yet I could hear it. It came closer until something…

No… someone.

My eyes widened as the person stood before me, tall and fierce.

His red shirt and pants looked like he had just finished a battle, covered in blood. A hand rested on a sword that hung from his hip, a sneer on his face. His ears swivelled around on his head, silently checking for danger like he had so many times before.

His eyes held a look of evil and it took me a while before I realised who it really was.

“Inuyasha,” I gasped, getting up and going to hug him quickly, “what happened to you?”

“Who the fuck are you wench?” he sneered, bounding out of my sight before I even stood, “and how do you know my name?”

Somewhere inside me, my heart ached. Something was odd and it was hurting me bad.

I had to try my hardest not to let the sudden tears that flooded my eyes spill over the barrier. I don't even remember them being there.

“Don't you know me Inuyasha?” I asked, my voice so ready to break.

“Keh,” he mumbles, jumping from the tree branch me was mystically on and landing a few feet away from me, “like hell I know you. I know scents wench. And your scent is not one of them.”

I turned away from him, not wanting to see how much me was really hurting me. Something inside me felt like it was being squeezed by a frozen hand, twisting and grasping my stomach with such force that I cried out in shock and pain.

Everything went blurry.

I fell.

 

** Dream End **

Inuyasha's POV

 

Something inside me made me want to go after her. Something about her was familiar, yet I had never met her…

Had I?

Growling at her bodyguard I bounded after her, listening to all the others follow, trying to call out for her to stop. Souta and Shippo were having an argument suddenly and none of the others could understand their rapid speech in Japanese.

Thank god we were all too worried about this wench or else something might have started back there too.

But somewhere in the back of my head, something was screaming for me to listen to what the fox kit said before this chick ran off.

Why are you hiding from us?

I frowned, slowing down slightly.

Something in those six words was screaming to me, making me what to pay attention to them.

It was a riddle.

Fuck I hate riddles.

 

O.o

 

I caught up with her eventually, giving her time to try calming herself down. I guessed that the others had all lost us and neither of us knew where we were. She was looking around with a worried expression, almost as if she finally realised that she didn't have a clue where she was…

Funny that…

I watched as she leant against the tree, sitting down and closing her eyes after a while.

Something about her was calming and I needed to figure out why she had run…

I took a step towards her and was nearly knocked off my feet by something. I whacked into a tree that was a few feet behind me, lying still at its roots for a little. Something in the back of my mind was stirring and I wasn't letting it get to me.

Stupid me.

I got back up and walked towards her again, going slowly. Something made me stop again before I could reach her, almost like a barrier.

It took me a few times to realise that it really was a barrier. Shocked, I moved toward it, leaning against it and staring at her.

Something about her.

Sesshomaru POV

 

When she ran it took a few seconds for the rest of us to register what had happened, what caused her to run. Meg started after her almost straight away; never being able to keep up with her, surprisingly, fast pace.

Rin and I started after her after we realised, not wanting to leave her in the school unsupervised. She was only just realising who she really was and where she stood in the world and she didn't need to have it all come crashing in front of her because some nosey little fox kit got to close.

I stopped suddenly, looking around. We had just stopped beside Meg who was, not so surprisingly, out of breathe.

“What… the… fuck?” she puffed out between breaths, handing on her knees and wiping the sweat from her brow, “where… the fuck… is she?”

“I don't know Meg,” I say truthfully, staring straight ahead, “I really don't know.”

“Great… fucking guar… guardian you are,” she pants out again, standing upright and staring at me with an evil look, “how the fuck… did you get Kaede-chan… or Madam Higurashi… to trust you?”

“Skilled,” I murmured, turning away and striding towards the trees and shrubbery that was almost a hundred meters away from where we were standing.

Meg just stood, grounded to her spot. My answer had shocked her of course. It was meant to.

Her only priority was that we found Lady Kagome before anything happened to her. Mine was the same, as well as making sure nothing happened to the Shikon jewel.

Rin kept pace with me, walking along side me.

She was smiling and humming.

I smiled too.

Hey guys…

Sozz it has taken me forever to start doing all this again. My computer at home has been screwing up and it has taken the (swear swear swear) computer people forever to fix it. They didn't even know what was wrong with it…

Anyways guys, I hope you are all enjoying the story... It's getting a bit harder to think of some of the things but it's all good...
