6:06:06.
Six minutes and six seconds after six o’clock.
Tick. Tick. Tick.
That clock was ticking as the time went, the blue eyes of that girl staring at the clock that was hanged up just above her dresser, watching the red hand tick its way around for long moments. She’d watch as it reached to 12 and it was now 6:07 pm.
In that moment, a knock would be heard on her door. Who was it? The towel she had wrapped around herself was kept close as she made her way for the door. When she got close, she heard a voice, “Hello, Kagome-sama! We’re here to help you get ready.”
Were those the servants? Door was opened and she’d view two faces of those servants of the house that looked to be human in appearance but they were likely youkai. The both of them wore elegant maid like attire, however, they were both wearing traditional kimonos! It looked cute on them. A simple, black colored kimono that stopped before their feet that was slipped into wooden sandals. One was a red head and the other had black hair, both of them tied up into a high pony tail.
They bowed their heads in unison before her and she noticed the amount of materials they brought with them. A basket filled with hair supplies and the like and the other youkai female had some clothing with her. What was it?
When they stood, she would step aside and let them in and they began to work.
“You must be out of the house by 6:30. Sesshoumaru’s orders.”
Kagome rolled her eyes and sighed, “Yeah, whatever. Guess we should hurry then?”
The black haired one nodded her head and approached Kagome with something placed upon a small hangar. When Kagome took it from the servant she eyed it then gasped. She blushed heavily and looked back at the black haired servant and she nodded.
“He insists that you wear it.”
It was lingerie. What the fuck! It looked sexy. Too sexy. Oh goodness. Could she even have the courage to wear it? She had nothing to wear that was even similar to this beneath her dress… So it only made sense to wear something like this, right?
She frowned. There he went again, buying stuff for her. He wasn’t kidding about wanting to spoil her. But this was just too much!
“Time is of the essence, Kagome-sama! Now go slip into them!”
The two servants giggled at the girl and she looked so defeated as she just stared at the two piece lingerie. It was a strapless bra and the bottom piece looked so small but it was a low hip-rise style and she was thankful it wasn’t a thong. Sesshoumaru buying her a thong? Kami. She blushed heavily at the thought.
Kagome quickly left the servants as she headed for the bathroom and took off her towel to place on those two lacey undergarments. The strapless bra she was able to place on and from the front it lifted up her breasts a tad and it actually looked not bad on her. Now the panty, well… She watched herself as she slid the material up her legs and up to her waist, the panty settling just at her hips and felt the lace slide against her skin and fit her so snug. It was a perfect fit.
How the hell did he manage to get her size so perfectly? It had to have been all the touching he had done to her body… He was able to figure out her measurements and that had her blushing again. She was going to have a word with him before this night was over.
Kagome stepped out of that bathroom slowly, not very comfortable in being in her underwear in front of servants but they were both female so, it wasn’t that bad, but…
“Ooh, that looks very nice on you, Kagome-sama.”
Kagome smiled lightly at the red haired girl but now those blue eyes would watch the black haired girl as she pulled out the small seat form her dresser and instructed for her to sit.
“Okay, now you can leave everything to us.”
She didn’t like the sound of that but no use pondering about that now. Kagome moved to sit upon that small cushioned chair and those servants went to work. The red haired girl was now doing the task in fixing Kagome’s hair while the other girl would be smearing some cream on her body. It smelled nice… Was it cocoa butter? She’d start from the top of her neck and Kagome couldn’t help but giggle when she went over spots that were ticklish.
She was mindful of Kagome’s breasts, only adding just a tiny amount at the dip of her breasts and then placed more cream along her arms, mid-section, legs and feet. The other girl began to comb out her long raven locks with a fine teethed comb and Kagome was surprised to see how fast yet gentle they took with this. After combing out each and every strand of her hair, a large hair brush would be used now, brushing back the strands that strangled around her face, except for a tiny amount just above her ears and some of her bangs. It would be side swept for this evening.
Her hair was then tugged lightly and folded into a neat bun that was kept in place by a few hair pins the servant picked up from the basket of hair supplies.
Hair was complete and her skin was properly moisturized. Onto the next step!
Now, the red head would approach Kagome with that dress she bought earlier today and she eyed it warily. So pricey this dress was. She couldn’t back out now, not after the money he spent on it. Kagome stood when the girl unzipped it from the back and was opened out for Kagome to step into. She stepped into it with ease and the dress was pulled up, Kagome raising her arms as both girls would assist in helping her put it on and finally the zipper was pulled all the way up, covering her strapless bra.
Now the final steps.
They instructed for Kagome to sit once more, facing the dresser and began their last task.
“Okay, close your eyes Kagome-sama and try not to move much.”
This was the part where they were going to make her look so different. Kagome wasn’t one for make-up but only saw a need for it on special occasions like these. Kagome took a light breath and closed her eyes as told and the red headed woman smiled. She placed a finger beneath Kagome’s chin to tilt her head upwards and now started to paint that beautiful canvas.
Kagome felt a coolness upon her face, a substance of some kind as it was placed along her eyes. Eyeliner she guessed. It was repeatedly placed over her eyelids in three simple strokes, repeating the same process on her other eye. And once that was done, a thicker object was felt trailing along her eyebrows, forming an arch.
And while she busied with Kagome’s make up, the other girl would focus on Kagome’s hands and feet. Specifically her nails. They were dainty from what she observed and her nails were perfect. Kagome never bit on them!
Kagome felt her hand being grabbed up by the other girl and she began to file her nails to perfection. It didn’t take long to do both hands as the minutes went and by the time the red head was done with Kagome’s make up, the black hired girl finished as well, filing the nails on both her hands and placed a clear coat of nail polish upon fingernails that dried rather fast.
Kagome still had her eyes closed and didn’t open them until they told her to do so. She knew she wasn’t done because one of the girls placed something on her cheeks, a powdery substance that was going to brighten up her face. Not too much was placed because it was going to be blended into her flesh as evident from the thick brush that was now stroking her cheeks.
Then she felt her feet being grasped for and in moments, those sliver heels that came with the dress were placed on her feet, fastening the straps just above her ankle bones.
Were they finally done?
“Ah, one last thing…”
A small spray of perfume would be placed upon her neck—two simple puffs.
“There, done!”
“You may open your eyes now, Kagome-sama.”
She heard the voices of the two of them speak to her and when Kagome opened her eyes, she was now gazing at an entirely different person. The servants would smile brightly when the lady got a good look at herself in the mirror, eyeing her reflection. This was her? There must be a mistake… Never had she looked so pretty, so fancy… She’d watch the red head from the mirror move to her and stand behind her to place a diamond necklace around her neck.
Oh. My. God.
It looked so expensive. Holy shit. Kagome had to believe she was worth so much now since she was wearing not only an expensive dress but jewelry too.
“Let me guess… Sesshoumaru insisted?”
She’d watch the two of them nod their heads in unison. Kagome sighed. There was no use fighting against this. She had to put up with it. It was just for one night, anyway.
After placing on the necklace, she’d be wearing diamond earrings too that matched the necklace she wore, the main jewel fitting snug just at the dip between her breasts.
“Oh! Forgot something…”
Oh no, more expensive stuff to wear?!
The red head returned with a flower…? It was a large Sakura flower and even though it was a fashion item, it looked so real. It had white petals and where bright pink was supposed to be in the middle of the flower, it was jet black in color. The stems were even black in color too, that rose out from the middle of the flower and the budding at the tips were completely white. It was a hair pin and that was placed right atop her hair upon the right side of her head, dipped between her hair and the bun to complete the look.
Now Kagome was ready.
“There! And with minutes to spare!”
Kagome curiously glanced at the clock and noticed it was 6:27 p.m. Wow. These servants were experts. She turned to them both when she stood and they smiled brightly at her.
“You look absolutely gorgeous, Kagome-sama. Now, you must hurry! We cannot keep Sesshoumaru waiting.”
Oh, right. Sesshoumaru. She blushed. So many things he had bought her today. How could she repay him? To think he could be this nice. Maybe he wasn’t a bad youkai after all?
Kagome was now leaving her room and felt so tall wearing those heels. They’d knock against the floor with each step she took and felt like a celebrity all of a sudden. And she was nervous. Oh so nervous. Those two servants would be escorting Kagome to the main living room, assisting her down those stairs. She didn’t need help but they were there just in case any mishap happened.
Once she got to the bottom, she was immediately greeted by Rin and Souta and their eyes were so bright when they saw Kagome and she would smile to them both.
“Kagome-sama! You look so pretty! Like a princess!”
Souta nodded his head, “Yeah! You know, like that one from the fantasy movie we saw some days ago… But you are far prettier than her, nee-san.”
“Thank you Souta and Rin. I have to go now or else I’ll be late. You’ll be okay by yourselves?”
Souta nodded happily. “Of course! We’ll be fine, take care of yourself, nee-san. And don’t forget to bring back some food!”
“Oh, me too Kagome-sama.”
Kagome nodded her head, “Of course. I won’t forget.”
And now she’d wave to the two as she was off. The door to the home was opened by those servants and just outside would be the driver she’d assume, bowing his head to her.
Her eyes then dropped to the running limousine below and hadn’t found Sesshoumaru. Was he already inside, waiting for her? Those windows were tinted so heavily dark, she couldn’t see inside.
“Are you ready, ojou-sama?”
The voice of the driver had her returning her focus to reality and nodded her head and so, the driver offered his hand for her to take to help her down those stairs. She took it and was guided down those steps and once she’d reach the bottom, the driver would open the door to the limousine and from there, she saw a pair of legs inside.
That had to be Sesshoumaru.
Kagome took a deep breath and stepped inside with a light huff once tush met the soft cushion of the seats and once she was settled, the door was closed behind her. Her eyes slowly turned to view Sesshoumaru who sat across from her and he would have the most annoyed look upon his face. He sat cross legged with right elbow propped up upon the small ledge, his cheek resting upon his knuckles while head was tilted just slightly, his gaze going outside.
Did he even notice that she was in the limousine with him right now?
She looked him over and good lord, he looked so handsome right now.
He dressed as if he was from the Victorian era of the mid 1800s! He wore a completely black colored suit jacket with a black vest beneath and a white dress shirt beneath the vest. Collar was folded up to his jawline but that was meant to be since he was wearing a black cravat around his neck. Black dress pants and shoes completed the look and if Kagome didn’t know any better, she was sure the male would have come from the past.
He pulled off the look quite well, she had to admit.
And even as the car ride went, Sesshoumaru still remained in that position. Was something wrong? He had yet to even look at her or acknowledge her presence. It didn’t bother her but she could sense the distress coming from him again. Slowly Kagome rose from her spot, making her way to the other side of seats within that limousine and slid across the leather to place herself beside Sesshoumaru but left some space between them.
She’d eye him curiously as he still remained at that position, her gaze finding his unoccupied hand that was rested upon his knee. Slowly she would reach for his hand with her right and placed her own above his. He was so warm when she touched him… How was that possible? A curious glance was set to Sesshoumaru and again, he remained unresponsive.
Her gaze went back to his hand and after some seconds, she saw his hand move. He’d turn it to the side and Kagome blinked at the movement. Should she? Hmm… Kagome would slowly move her right hand against his left one and in moments, their fingers interlocked and clasped together. Kagome felt her heart thump at the act, a swelling rising within her form.
Never had she felt like this before. This was nothing compared to holding hands with Houjou. Why was it that she had this effect with him and only him?
But even so… She smiled. A soft smile that would accept this feeling she had in her heart.
“I take it you liked the lingerie?”
Kagome immediately blushed upon hearing Sesshoumaru’s voice all of a sudden, breaking that silence and he could hear her heartbeat pace quick. Interesting.
Kagome slowly turned her head to find that Sesshoumaru was now looking at her, his eyes upon her face and drunk in her features. Marvelous. Stunning. Gorgeous. Entrancing. All of the above and perhaps more.
“Y-yes…”
“Are you wearing it?”
Kagome felt her cheeks grow so hot even more and found it difficult to speak, so, she nodded her head.
Again his beast would purr from within, pleased to hear the girl would wear everything he had bought her. He intended to spoil her and so he would.
“Sesshoumaru.”
Sesshoumaru’s eyes blinked slowly when his name was called out by Kagome, hearing the firm tone in her voice and her gaze upon him. Kagome watched him as he’d tilt his head just slightly when curiosity washed over his face.
“Why must you buy so many things for me? I am… Not worth it.”
Now his gaze remained upon her, staring at her in disbelief at her words. The grip on her hand tightened just a tad, “You are worth every cent. Do not belittle your value, Kagome.”
“But… It is unfair. You can buy me so many things while I cannot.” Even if she had money, what could she even get him as a present in return? He owned everything. He could ask for whatever he wanted with no questions. He already had heaps of money that one would dream for. He had it all.
“It doesn’t feel right if you don’t get anything in return.”
“Then what do you suggest? In return for spoiling my dear imouto.”
She shivered at that last set of words, immediately reminded of that night with him in his office. Oh kami. She tried as she might but could not push those visions away.
Kagome remembered vividly of those teeth upon her skin, marking up her flesh, leaving many bite marks across her thighs. Her eyes fluttered close and Sesshoumaru took note as her scent seemed to shift just slightly. She may have recalled a particular event with just the two of them and he knew exactly what she may have been thinking.
“Perhaps… I can indulge in your… ministrations sometime.”
Kagome calmed herself because this was not the time to be horny, especially when heading to an event where there’d be so many youkai… They would smell her. Sesshoumaru heard her proposition and he had to refrain from smirking. Had she given in? To think these events all happened to be set up this way. Almost as if it was planned and if it was, he was a damn good mastermind.
It wasn’t his intent. He had long pushed the idea of pushing the girl’s body to the brink of breaking under his touch since he had not wish to be attached but those thoughts were coming back after hearing her agree to continuing in what had been started.
But the question remained, should he continue?
Kagome was asking herself the same thing.
This is what Sango warned her about. This would be a path that would lead her to darkness and she was not so sure she may be able to escape from it. Those chains Sesshoumaru had on Kagome remained ever since the first few weeks with him and felt herself being dragged into dark and twisted fantasies within his mind but the hold had loosened up when Sesshoumaru no longer pursued for her. He became distant. And she was alright with that yet her body missed his touch. It craved for his touch again and she did not know why.
Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to light up that spark again…
Sesshoumaru stared at her and knew she may be second guessing this, even as he saw the tinge of red appear upon those cheeks, only adding more to her beauty. She looked so pristine at the moment, a well painted canvas with absolutely no marks and no flaws upon her visage. He was half tempted to mark her. To claim what was rightfully his.
Yes, she was his and his alone. No one would touch her except for him.
Kagome was waiting to hear for Sesshoumaru’s reply but what she got in return was seeing him move and inch closer to her. Her heartbeat picked up again and remained frozen in place, unable to push him away. Why would she? This was exactly what she wanted deep down inside. Her eyes would close when his head tilted upon arriving close to the crook of her neck. And in seconds, she was rewarded with hot kisses upon her flesh, the girl eliciting out a quiet gasp.
Those soft lips were kissing up and down her neck and again, there was that change in her scent. “Mmn… Nii-sama…”
Her scent was so different now. Sakura blossom coupled with lavender and cinnamon… and was that cocoa butter? The various scents mixed in with her true scent had his beast rumbling from within and the hold on her hand tightened with his other arm coming around to rest his hand upon her uncovered knee.
His lips managed to catch every spot upon her neck that would send electrified waves of pleasure down her spine and her heart beat began to pick up the moment he trailed down further, placing those hot lips upon her collarbone. And simultaneously, that hand upon her knee slowly inched upwards, slipping beneath the cocktail dress she wore. Her breath hitched in which his hand reached as far as the middle of her inner thigh, stopping there completely and continuously kneaded her flesh there as slender fingers gripped her skin.
Damn, how did he manage to hit all her good spots?
Kagome melted in his hands. She was like play-dough and he was melding her so well. A frustrated sound left Kagome when her hand was placed upon his chest, her fingers splayed out yet could not find flesh for her to touch. Highly unfair! The only bit of skin she could manage was the bit from his hand she was still holding onto.
Sesshoumaru knew this and it was unfortunate that they were tending to an event this evening. If only he could stop time… Then maybe, just maybe…
Both Kagome and Sesshoumaru felt the limousine slow down and knew they were reaching their destination. In that time, Sesshoumaru pulled away from the girl to sit upright once more with his hand sliding out from beneath her dress and those eyes gazed hungrily at her face. Kagome’s eyes fluttered open, her sights upon Sesshoumaru and saw that hungered look he gave her. She gave a quiet whimper, having not seen him look at her so intense before.
Those golden eyes dropped to her parted rosy pink lips, one’s that he had nearly come to kiss by accident earlier today. Those lips of hers were begging to be kissed and bruised by him, to have them reddened and plump with breaths of air leaving heavily from them.
Kagome’s eyelids were growing heavy the more she gazed at Sesshoumaru, her body leaning towards him rather slowly. Perhaps she could give him a kiss? That would suffice for all that he had given her, right? And if on cue, Sesshoumaru followed what she was doing and inched closer to her. They both reach as far as their noses touching, Kagome’s lips quivering as she felt Sesshoumaru’s breath waft over them.
“Sesshoumaru…” His name leaving her lips in a quiet whisper in the small amount of space between them.
Should she do it? She was hesitating. They both knew that. But Sesshoumaru wasn’t about to force something upon her, something she had trouble deciding.
Timing was impeccable once again as that limo came to a complete stop. They have arrived.
Both Kagome and Sesshoumaru leaned away and her blush remained upon her cheeks, head tilting away to avert her gaze. They were still holding hands even after all that. Kagome’s eyes rose to the windows to her left and she saw nothing but pretty, flashing lights everywhere. A crowd of people, both bystanders and the paparazzi, the media, everything! And right there in the center of it all, a long red carpet. That carpet let into a large building that had its double doors opened into the main event.
Nervousness crept up her form at seeing so many people.
But then a squeeze was given to her hand, the one Sesshoumaru was still holding onto. Head turned from the window and viewed Sesshoumaru once more as his face returned to that same façade yet this time, she could actually see pass that mask. It took her that long to notice, too!
“Relax. Don’t pay them any attention. Stick close to me and keep your eyes ahead.”
Kagome slowly nodded her head and took in a deep breath. She was ready, she had to be. It was just a gala, a really eventful gala, and this was of most important business so she had to be at her best. Formal and polite… She could do this.
Her heartbeat stopped the moment the door on Sesshoumaru’s side opened and she was attacked by so many sounds. Cheers, screams and Sesshoumaru’s name leaving the lips of many women she could hear, along with the added ‘sama’ honorific.
He gave Kagome one last look and soon the hold on her hand loosened up and he’d peel away to head out of the car. His movements were so fluid, not a single flaw when he moved. Those girls from outside screamed his name like the many fangirl’s would do yet he paid them no heed. He turned back towards the limousine and offered his hand for Kagome to take.
The crowd was secretly wondering what lucky lady Sesshoumaru brought with him tonight. It was a first because he was known to never tag along with anyone. None seemed to match his interests.
Kagome swallowed hard after exhaling and her hand would be placed in Sesshoumaru’s own and he clasped her hand gently, assisting her out of the car. She managed to make it out in one quick motion. Those heels touched the floor of the road and stood proudly beside Sesshoumaru and felt so many eyes on her. Most of them gasped when they gazed at the beautiful blue eyed raven haired girl, hearing many hushed whispers yet the crowd was just as loud regardless.
The eyes of men were on her from both humans and youkai alike but she did what she was told. She paid them no attention and kept her gaze ahead. The limousine door was closed behind her and now Sesshoumaru offered his left arm for her to take. She saw the motion and looked up to his face, a small smile creeping upon the lovely woman’s face as she took the arm that was offered to her.
And then they began to move, the two looking like one inseparable pair—A deadly youkai prince and an entrancing human princess.
She could feel jealous and hatred stares from those women that stood beyond the rope barrier outside the red carpet but she smiled even more. She had to refrain from grinning like a mad woman. Those eyes were kept ahead and she began to relax and Sesshoumaru was surprised to see that the girl managed to keep her composure as they walked down that carpet.
Flashing lights, clicks, many, many calls for the two of them to look their way towards the photographers as they wished to get a good picture of the pair. But again, the two would ignore those around them, eventually making their way into the large fancy building in front of them. Kagome’s eyes glanced up just briefly and found that sign and it read with big, black bold letters—
‘Welcome to the Hinode Gala!’
The cool air rushed to her form when she entered into the building and eyes closed briefly, re-opening them to find a very large ball room. Eyes went wide and her face lit up like a fucking Christmas tree when she found the large room was well decorated. Lots of tables placed around, some small as a two seater and some large to fit about five to six people.
There were people already sitting and conversing amongst each other and some already standing around, laughing and conversed with each other, likely talking about business.
They didn’t even get ten seconds to themselves because they moment they stepped into that ballroom, a pair of youkai would approach them—
“Ah, Sesshoumaru-sama! How good it is to see you!”
Amber eyes slowly dragged to the one that called his name, gracing the elderly looking man briefly, “Toutousai.”
The old man named Toutousai winced at the harsh tone when Sesshoumaru greeted him… Was that even considered a greeting? The eyes of that man dropped to the pretty little thing he had with her and those eyes lit up when he viewed her. Kagome sensed nothing but friendly vibes from this youkai, so, she smiled and offered a light bow of her head.
“Ooh, you are a pretty one! And who might you be?”
“That is the daughter of Higurashi-sama, if I am not mistaken. Kagome, yes?”
Blue eyes would drop to the shorter elderly man beside Toutousai and again, she didn’t sense any negatives with him as he also appeared to be friendly. Kagome would nod her head, “Yes, you are right. And you are…?”
She’d watch as he’d place two hands… Wait, two hands?! He had four arms. Four arms! And his face looked a bit off, too, now that she got a better look at him. Oh my god, was that a flea?!
“Myouga. We are long time companions of Sesshoumaru’s father.”
“Ooh, I see!” They didn’t seem so bad. She could see herself getting along with those two.
“A pleasure to meet you, Kagome-sama. I bet it is your first time here to one of these things, eh?”
Kagome smiled to Toutousai and gave a light nod of her head, “Yep! But it doesn’t seem so bad so far.”
There was light jazz music being played and the atmosphere was delicate with calm lights displayed everywhere.
And already Sesshoumaru was annoyed because he was going to do this all night until both himself and his father would give that speech.
Sesshoumaru’s nostrils flared quickly, “If you’ll excuse us.” And already that eldest began to lead Kagome away from the two. She quickly bowed her head before the two elderly looking youkai until she was lead elsewhere. Where was he headed? And why was he rushing a bit?
She frowned.
But eventually he slowed down once he weaved through those tables with Kagome keeping up beside him and when he stopped, those eyes dropped down to the small table before him that had two cushioned seats around it. Was this their table?
Blue hues caught the name plate placed upon the covered table and blushed.
‘Sesshoumaru and Kagome.’
Kami. It felt like they were really a pair.
“Should you wish to rest, here is our table.”
Kagome blinked slowly then looked up at Sesshoumaru but his gaze was elsewhere as he knew he had to go meet with those companies. She heard him sigh and was going to peel away from her but she held onto him and that had him gazing back at Kagome in question.
“I’ll come with you.”
“It is unnecessary—“
Kagome shook her head. “I know how much you don’t enjoy being here so it only seems fair I be with you… you know… to make it better?” The hell was she even saying? Did that even make sense? Well, somewhat. He knew what she was getting at, though. But to think she was willing to accompany him throughout the night to alleviate the stress that would be building soon enough.
“Very well.”
He was so lucky to have her, he had to admit. He saw her in a new light this night.
And so, the two were off once again and Sesshoumaru introduced himself and Kagome to those potential business partners. She met with everyone that were partners with his father’s company and understood just a bit of how much the Inu clan had influence on so many who was here tonight. They’d all talk about business and that was boring as fuck. Now she knew why Sesshoumaru despised coming to these.
They’d all butter up to him, those people asking to partner with Sesshoumaru and give a sales pitch and all those things that would only put their business in an advantage. Sesshoumaru politely declined each one.
After leaving one group, her eyes rose up and found the large clock placed above the stage some few feet away from her and noted the time. 7:47 p.m.
That long already?
If she remembered right, 8:00 p.m. was when that big speech was going to be made by Sesshoumaru’s father and himself, followed by the head of the Ookami clan making his own after.
Kagome sighed lightly. Sesshoumaru heard this and turned to the girl beside him, “Do you wish to rest?”
Her feet were starting to feel a bit heavy but she could hold out for another hour perhaps. She wasn’t that hungry yet… but she was getting there.
“Mm, no, not yet…”
And while she contemplated on what to do next, a human would slowly approach the girl from behind but stopped mid-way. That male had his arm crossed over his chest as he tilted his head this way and that, viewing the ballerina’s form from behind. Those long, shapely legs, that small waist and dip in her lower back… Raven hair and marvelous unblemished skin. He knew this woman.
“Kagome-sama?”
Kagome blinked slowly when her name was called by a familiar voice, head turning and glanced behind her but soon her eyes widened when she turned around fully to view the male that stood some few feet away.
“Miroku-kun! Is that really you?”
Miroku nodded his head as he’d approach the two and she smiled brightly when she peeled away from Sesshoumaru to give her old friend a light and brief hug.
“I almost didn’t recognize you, Kagome-sama. And I didn’t think you would be here, either.”
“Likewise! It’s been so long since I’ve even heard from you! But if you’re here, is Sango-chan here as well?”
Miroku nodded his head and she had the biggest smile on her face. She wished to see Sango now as their only form of communication lately was just texting. But she was forgetting something… Oh!
Kagome turned to Sesshoumaru who regarded the two with that same icy expression but she would catch Miroku beside her how bowed his head before the elder youkai, “Sesshoumaru-sama. A pleasure to meet you again.”
Huh? Again?
“Indeed, houshi.”
He rose to stand once more and saw the slight confused look Kagome gave and he’d clarify for her, “I used to work for Sesshoumaru. Well, I still do, just not in the same division.”
“Ah… Then that makes introductions easier.” Once more she would turn to Sesshoumaru and hands would clasp together, “You don’t mind if I catch up with my friends a bit, do you?”
Sesshoumaru inclined his head towards her slightly, “You are free to do what you wish.”
“She’s in good hands, Sesshoumaru-sama.”
Sesshoumaru looked to the hoshi when he spoke and eyes narrowed a tad. “Just keep those hands of yours to yourself or else you’ll be losing them.”
A warning that Miroku would definitely adhere to. Kagome giggled upon hearing Sesshoumaru give that warning because she also knew of Miroku’s true nature. He may be a monk but he could never keep those hands of his to himself. Lecherous as always.
“I’ll be right back. Don’t be too miserable without me.”
He’ll manage, somewhat.
And so, off Kagome went with Miroku to find Sango, catching up on the time that was lost.
Miroku wore all white tonight, a suit with a bowtie and he looked great. Two diamond studded earrings were in his ears and his hair was left in a small ponytail just at the back of his neck and thick bangs combed out evenly.
They’d arrive at the long, large table that held food and immediately Kagome could smell the goodness coming from those trays. It was catered food but this was high quality tier of food. Everything smelled so good.
“Kagome-chan! Is that really you?”
Kagome’s head turned towards the end of the table and found Sango who was already heading over with a big smile on her face.
“Sango-chan!”
“Wow, you look so different in that dress… I had to do a double-take to make sure it was really you.” Sango smiled back at her long time friend, setting down her glass of punch and moved to hug Kagome and she would hug her back.
“Oh, I see we still have similar tastes.”
Sango smirked when she pulled back from the hug, gazing down to look at Kagome’s dress. And Kagome would look at hers, seeing that Sango was wearing an all black cocktail dress. The top half fit her like a corset and around her waist was a white ribbon with a black flower placed at the left side of her waist. Bottom half puffed out just above her knees, like a ballerina dress almost.
“You look amazing, Sango-chan.”
“Please Kagome, you look absolutely gorgeous. You have been the talk of the night here, especially you being all close to Sesshoumaru.”
Sango grinned and Kagome blushed lightly, waving her hand. “Please, Sango…”
“I mean, who wouldn’t talk? You guys look great together and make a great couple.”
“Miroku!” Both of the girls said his name at the same time and glared at him and he held up his hands in defense from their wrath.
“What?! What did I say?”
Kagome giggled lightly while Sango shook her head.
And so the three of them would catch up on how they were all doing so far. Time would tick on and soon it was time for that speech to be made. She would depart from Miroku and Sango as they headed back to their seats and while on the way to her table, she froze in her tracks.
There was a young male standing just before her and eyes widened.
“…Houjou?!”
Why was he here? Wait a minute. Akitoki Enterprises… Akitoki. That was Houjou’s family name! Of course, that was it. No wonder he was here.
“Kagome.”
He smiled at her and she smiled back. She should have been happy to see him but… She wasn’t. It was like meeting with a regular friend. She refrained from frowning, though. Why did she suddenly feel… Nothing for him? Yes, they continuously called each other every week, except for that one time she didn’t call but she couldn’t as Sesshoumaru too most of her attention—
Sesshoumaru.
Yes, it was him. He was the reason why she was slowly starting to feel nothing for Houjou. And what was worse? She didn’t care.
“Houjou-kun, I am surprised to see you here!”
“Likewise, Kagome. And I must say you look absolutely beautiful tonight.”
Kagome smiled brightly at her ‘boyfriend’. “Thank you. And so do you.”
He wore your traditional black and white suit with a tie and looked presentable. Hair slicked back and those earrings in his ears looked cute.
She didn’t know what to say to him and the silence made everything so awkward for her. Houjou knew this as well because as of late, they haven’t really been connecting with each other. Sure, they agreed to go onto dinner some time but they weren’t sure when that would be.
His eyes would look at her fully, seeing that dress she wore and those silver heels… He knew it was expensive. Again, she was provided with things he could not give her. Houjou wanted to be the one to spoil her, not… Sesshoumaru.
Then a sound would be heard overhead, the two of them glancing upwards to the ceiling in question.
‘Attention guests! Please take your seats. We will now commence with the event!’
So, it was time.
“Would you like to come sit with me, Kagome?”
Oh god. Why did he ask her that? To be honest, she wanted to be beside Sesshoumaru and she didn’t know why.
Kagome shook her head, “They’re assigned seats, silly.”
Houjou smiled and nodded his head, “Yeah, you’re right. Well, I’ll catch you around later tonight? Maybe we can do something after.”
Kagome nodded her head. “Sure.” She highly doubted that. She knew Sesshoumaru wished to leave the moment this was over, so, she would be leaving with him as well.
And so, the two would depart and Kagome again felt those eyes on her as she walked back to her table. She’d even catch a glimpse of those hungered stared from those youkai males and she shivered. Damn. It’s like they never saw a woman before. Kagome managed to make it back to her table and there Sesshoumaru would be and for once, he didn’t look so annoyed.
She took the open spot beside him and once she sat down, those amber eyes were upon her immediately.
“Hey. Are you alright?”
“Hn.”
While Kagome was off to catch up with her friends, Sesshoumaru had been keeping a careful watch on her from the distance. While he had been seeing old colleagues and whatnot, he was making sure Kagome was safe. For some reason or another, his instincts were alerting him of a great danger. He didn’t know why. There was nothing out of the ordinary at the gala tonight but why was he so… Anxious?
Kagome seemed fine, even as she returned to him at their table, quickly looking her over. He caught many scents around her and knew they belonged to her human companions. He even caught that boy’s scent… Her ‘boyfriend’. Why was he here? Did he have some relation to the companies that gathered here tonight? He was thankful that his scent was scarce and didn’t taint Kagome’s own.
Now those lights began to dim and the stage up ahead would be lit up, beginning the event.
And so it began, applause given here and there when the main event was happening and seen Mr. Taisho take his stand upon the stage. He gave his speech and so Mr. Ookami arrived and gave his own, who was a wolf youkai from the looks of it, a very elderly yet wise looking old man and gave words of praise to the beginning of a new ‘era’.
They shook hands and now it was Sesshoumaru’s turn to make his appearance. She heard him sigh and she gave a small smile, stifling in a laugh. And so that son went, his turn taking the stage and shook hands with Mr. Ookami and his father and made his speech.
She sat there and listened to just about everything. Such a strong, commanding voice Sesshoumaru had… No wonder he had so many fangirls. He had it all. And to think she managed to get here, a place where many would want to be and become a part of their ‘family’.
A round of applause given to the three of them when Sesshoumaru’s speech finished and the lights would brighten up again to conclude the main portion. Now all that was left was for everyone else to enjoy themselves until the event was over.
Kagome would remain in her seat but then her stomach began to rumble. She was hungry. And she had to bring back some extras for Souta and Rin… Well, she might as well head there, right?
When she stood, Sesshoumaru would appear beside her again and gave a small smile once more.
“I’m going to get some food and catch up with my friends for a bit. When I’m done, we can leave, right? I think we’ve spent enough time here already.”
“Too much time.”
Kagome smiled, “I won’t be long.”
“No need to rush. You may take your time.”
And so Kagome went towards the food section and the moment she left, Sesshoumaru would be greeted by his father once more and Kagome’s mother. They looked to be happy, as evident from their faces. Mr. Ookami would soon join them as well and again they’d converse about business, Sesshoumaru keeping careful watch on Kagome in the distance in between glances.
Stupid nagging feeling still didn’t go away.
Kagome was at the tables that held all the food, again greeted by Miroku and Sango as they too also wished to eat. Beef, pork, chicken and even sushi! And Kagome helped herself to just about everything with not a care at all.
And while she ate at a table with Miroku and Sango she’d be approached by a waiter who held three wine glasses that contained a deep red liquid. It had to be wine. She watched as Miroku and Sango took up their glasses with no hesitation and the waiter placed the tray before Kagome to take if she wished. He smiled at her with a dip of his head. Kagome never drunk anything like wine in her life but since she was with Sango and Miroku presently, why not?
She took up that glass and nodded her thanks to the waiter and he’d bow his head. The moment he took off, a wide, crocodile grin would be spread across his lips. Who was that pink haired man, anyway?
Kagome took the first sip from that glass to gather the taste upon her tongue and blinked slowly. It was very fruity and bad as she thought.
And so, they all ate their food in peace and once done, they looked about ready to leave.
“That was good. You ready to head off Sango?”
The taijiya nodded her head at the houshi but she would turn her gaze to Kagome. She’d watch as her friend would fan her face with her hand, looking a bit flushed. Sango laughed lightly, “Was the wine too much for you?”
Kagome never finished it, only taking a few sips here and there but already she was feeling it. “Maybe… Don’t think I’ll be trying that soon, though.” She smiled at Sango when she moved to stand, using the table for support.
“You gonna be alright, Kagome-sama?”
Kagome nodded her head and smiled at Miroku. “I’ll be fine, don’t worry. Sesshoumaru is here anyway.”
“Okay. Well, we’ll be off now. Let us know when you’ve reached home safely, alright?”
Kagome nodded her head again, “Of course! Oyasumi, Sango-chan, Miroku-kun! It’s been great seeing you two again.”
The pair would smile at their friend and depart from the girl who looked slightly tipsy.
Little did she know… Her wine had been roofied.
Her body had been fighting off of the effects deep within but it was a losing battle. That battle’s results would be evident on the girl’s face as she felt a bit hot. Why was she suddenly feeling this way? Maybe she should head to the bathroom…
And so she did, managing to stand upright and make her way for the bathroom that wasn’t too far from the main area. She’d walk pass the stage and out some double doors, head turning left and then to the right and soon found the restroom signs.
She’d be led into the right direction and went into the women’s bathroom. Upon pushing open that door, a bright, flashing light would attack her eyes and immediately she winced in pain, shielding the brightness. Why was it so bright in here? She took a single step inside and felt so heavy. Like she was about to crash. A crash she may not survive from.
Her head was pounding like mad and she groaned, her shaky feet making for the large sink and gripped onto it tightly, struggling to stand and stay awake. The light around her was fading in and out repeatedly. What was wrong with her?! Kagome began to panic. Was it something she ate? No… It was her drink. Her drink! That man that served her that wine. What the hell did he put in her drink?
Whatever it was, it was powerful because her body was having a hard time going against it. She needed help. She needed to find Sesshoumaru. Her body was trying its damn hardest to stay conscious but it was futile.
She gripped tightly onto that sink and pulled her body towards the wall and lips parted, trying to call out for someone, anyone but nothing came. Nothing but quiet breaths of air.
Kagome tried to take a step and immediate her legs gave out and she came tumbling down.
Her body hit the floor of that cleanly tiled bathroom pretty hard and all she could feel was pain. Pain surged out through her core and she gasped. Eyes were half lidded, the girl groaning as her head tilted upwards to the door and just couldn’t find any strength to move.
‘Help me… someone…!’
And darkness slowly crept up her form, her vision going out.
The last thing she saw were two pairs of feet entering into that bathroom. Were they here to save her? She had only hoped.
And her body was out like a light. She slipped into the dark depths of her mind, falling unconscious.
