-Days before Naraku was seen at the organization-
It seems luck was not on Naraku’s side that day when he received Kagome’s present at the mall.
He was pissed, more so than he had ever been. Tsubaki Ko, his long time assistant, had disappeared off the grid when he was attempting to make contact with her again because of the drug not working as it should. Well, ex-assistant now. He pretty much kicked her ass to the curb so he shouldn’t have expected for her to come crawling back to him. He thought he had victory in his hands but that was just a fucking dream now.
While that man busied himself in his own lab to find out why the stimulant never worked, he would be carefully monitored by one of his ‘loyal’ henchmen. They’d be keeping tabs on Naraku and alerted the one gal that Naraku kicked out, reporting his every move and his every finding to her.
And who was the traitor? Why, Juuroumaru of course!
That slut had Juuroumaru wrapped around her finger so tight that he would do anything to please her, even if it meant going against his own boss. Naraku was so oblivious to it all; he had no idea that he was being double-crossed. This was great and worked out in Tsubaki’s favor. She only wished to see Naraku’s downfall ever since he used her and tossed her aside as if she was nothing. And the perfect opportunity came to her when Juuroumaru told her of the news that the drug the both of them worked so hard on together did not work on the girl.
Tsubaki was so happy. She was happy that Naraku didn’t have things go his way as he planned. So much for his ‘revenge’!
Juuroumaru filled the dark miko with every detail ever since the stunt at the mall. She was told of how Naraku visited Kagome there and the drug did not work as intended. She became violent upon seeing him and as a result, she crushed the man’s hand in such a death grip. And ever since, Naraku was still healing from that deadly injury.
But why did that drug not work?
It was a question both Naraku and Tsubaki found themselves trying to answer since that day. Luckily Tsubaki had taken samples and recordings of that drug and went over every detail within her own lab in the far corners of a small city that neighbored Tokyo. She could not reproduce the same stimulant as she was missing far too many resources… Mainly Naraku’s blood.
Tsubaki went digging into Kagome’s past because she assumed that the human girl could have some strong genes. She was a bio-chemist, after all. There could be many, many things as to why the drug did not work as intended. But since she no longer worked for Naraku and was currently in hiding, she was limited on information. She had so much at her fingertips when she used to work for him. Now? She had nothing. Just some laptop of hers that held some information about the various drugs she’d work on throughout her life.
Tsubaki did not find much about Kagome’s past from the limited information she had. She was just an ordinary human girl that was living with youkai now.
A beacon of light came to her some days prior to Naraku’s visit to the demon organization and it was in the form of a text. Juuroumaru texted Tsubaki and e-mailed her files about Naraku’s hand injury. To her surprise, she found out he was also purified in the attack upon his wrist. Tsubaki was completely puzzled. Why would a human girl have holy power?
Then it dawned to the dark miko that she could possibly be… a miko.
Tsubaki just laughed. How ironic!
But if she truly was a miko, did that girl not know it herself? Maybe that was why the drug did not work? Well, it was conducted by evil means. Naraku’s youki was so vile, it may have triggered a reaction within her, having her body fight against it and produce opposite effects. It was a far stretched idea but it was possible.
Tsubaki wished she had more information. She needed to find out more about her history.
When she texted Juuroumaru back, she found out that Naraku would be heading to the Demon Organization in search of someone to replace her. The female grinned wickedly upon reading such and she too would plan a trip there as well, looking to crash that party and ruin Naraku’s plans even further.
Tsubaki was going to prepare for that trip!
Meanwhile, with Naraku…
That man was still within the confines of his lab and dared not to head to the surface until he could find out just what the fuck happened.
He was so angry and so pissed, he began to growl, yell and snarl out his frustrations on just about everyone. They all began to cower before him, save for his henchmen but they would not be spared from Naraku’s wrath.
Naraku remade that same stimulant but dues to the small amount of resources he had left over, he could only make a few milliliters. He was entirely missing Tsubaki’s expertise and needed her help. But he could not find her anywhere. It was as if she left Japan or never to have existed. No word on her at all.
But he had to keep working and find out what went wrong. With or without her.
Once the stimulant was remade, he ordered Juuroumaru and Byakuya to grab him a girl, any girl, he did not care, and bring her right back to his lab so that he could perform an experiment.
It didn’t take them long to fulfill Naraku’s order. The pair brought back a random girl they snatched up off of the streets of Tokyo in broad daylight. Luckily no one saw the kidnap happen and so, the brown haired girl who feared for her life was brought before Naraku. She was in tears and began to plead for her life as she was forced onto her knees to receive the wrath from that evil bio-chemist. She stared up at the youkai in confusion and only wished that he would spare her life.
Naraku didn’t bother listening to the girl as she was held down and readied the drug for the experiment. That woman saw the syringe he was holding and her eyes went wide. She hadn’t a clue what was inside but now she feared for her life even more as she was partaking in an experiment she had no control over.
She screamed but that would be immediately silenced as a hand covered her mouth which belonged to Byakuya. He’d grin widely at the female who feared for her life. Naraku stepped in close and he didn’t bother using anti-septic to clean the spot he was about to inject that needle, literally stabbing it into her arm and pushed out that drug into her system.
She screamed out in pain and both Byakuya and Juuroumarou removed their hold on the human woman, her immediate response was to scramble away from them all. She backed up into a corner and held her arm as she felt the pain from the stab wound with tears filling her eyes. Why were they doing this to her?!
Naraku then marched for the woman and brought her up to her feet roughly when he grabbed a hold of her arm, forcing her to stand. He ordered her to look at him but she cowered, finding it hard to do so. Naraku had no time for this.
Free hand reached for her face and forced the girl to look at him and the moment her hazel eyes laid eyes on Naraku, she stopped her screaming, she stopped all her movements and eyes locked on his face. Immediately he saw the desire that burned in her eyes when she looked at him and leaned in closer towards him, looking to get a kiss.
He did not give her that just yet, still leaving her there as he observed to make sure everything was in working order.
Naraku continued to eye her down and the girl in his hold began to squirm about, continuously pleading for Naraku’s touch as she craved for it. He’d watch as her pupils begin to dilate and her arousal grow incredibly, her hands gripping for his arms and squeezed, showing off the strength she could have never obtain by normal means.
So, it worked… But why did it not work on Kagome as he hoped!?
Naraku’s teeth gritted tight and that human girl he held onto would be shoved away from him hard, her body practically flying into a nearby wall and a pained gasp left her lips as she crumbled onto the ground upon coming in contact with the hard surface.
She was knocked out cold and Naraku ordered Juuroumaru and Byakuya to get rid of her however they saw fit.
Again the youkai vented out his frustrations upon everything, knocking over his supplies, chairs, desks, even slamming his fist into one of the computer screens that would be before him.
Since Tsubaki was no longer useful, he would need to find another. He knew of one person but that meant going to the one place he wished not to be near. It would be taking a huge risk but he had no other choice. He needed another batch and was definitely going to have Kagome in his grasp no matter what.
Naraku had to come prepared because he was not leaving there until he got what he wanted.
That day came and what he would expect would take him by surprise.
=-=
Kagome marched down that hall with fists balled at her sides and never looked to be so angry. She was going to purify the shit out Naraku and his henchmen. They were the one’s responsible for ruining her life and she won’t ever forgive them.
And just beside Kagome was Sesshoumaru who miraculously was not afflicted by her holy power. All he could feel from her was her rage and warmth, as terrible as that sounds. He was not a threat to her or her life. He was the one who helped her through the hard times so of course, he was spared from her holy power.
The pair stepped into the main area that held the front desk and immediately Naraku’s senses kicked off with his gaze going ahead, easily finding Sesshoumaru and one angry miko that stood beside him.
His eyes widened. Why was Kagome here?!
Naraku and his entourage gave them both their full attention and looked on with disbelief.
Juuroumaru, Byakuya, Musou and Goshinki would be accompanied with Naraku this day, having the extra hand he needed… But it wouldn’t be enough against these two.
Kagome was about ready to jump into the fray and give them hell for what they did to her but Naraku made the first move as he walked from the main desk to approach the two. The little old lady that was behind the desk immediately scampered off to find shelter elsewhere. The place was about to become a battle field soon.
“Well, well. Sesshoumaru, Kagome… How good it is to see the two of you here.”
He’d ignore the extremely high levels of reiki that flared out from Kagome as she glared at him with red eyes. Did the drug alter her this much? She definitely was not a normal human by any means.
“You must be a fool if you think you can just come here and escape with your life.” Because Sesshoumaru was about to kill him for all that he had done to Kagome after what he had learned today.
A sinister chuckle left the evil bio-chemist as hands slipped into his pockets. “Then I suppose my secret has been revealed? A shame. I was going to keep that as a surprise but… Guess the cat’s out of the bag now, hm?”
Kagome gritted her teeth tight and was just seconds from jumping in, “I should have killed you that day.” But what was stopping her?
Naraku grinned menacingly at the girl, “Is that right?”
“You are finished, Naraku. You cannot buy your way out of this one. Producing an illegal drug within the very city you work in will only burn your company to the ground once the public will be informed.” Sesshoumaru’s hand rose and his fingertips began to glow in that eerily green color as they flexed.
“And how will you do that when you’re dead?”
One of Naraku’s henchmen, the tall, pretty faced man that stood behind him immediately leapt out in front of the youkai and grinned widely at the pair before him.
“Musou. Aim for the brat.” Naraku directed his attention to the eldest son of the Inu clan for Musou to aim for.
Musou chuckled, “With pleasure!” Musou’s arm began to stretch out similar like Yakurou’s ability but instead, that limb turned into a plant-like branch. A sharp woodened end would aim right for Sesshoumaru’s face, clean between the eyes.
But that branch came into contact with one powerful barrier. When it clashed with the holy power of Kagome, sparks of reiki and youki began to fly that mimicked one beautiful set of fireworks.
“Ohh, you are fast!”
Kagome merely narrowed her eyes at this one called Musou and she would raise her hand as well, pushing out her power that had that branch limb disintegrating into nothingness. She managed to purify that limb entirely and now Musou stood there in complete shock, armless too.
“And strong too. Sugoi ne!”
Kagome thought she put the man into a handicap but in seconds, Musou regenerated that arm Kagome just destroyed, looking brand new with no apparent injuries.
Naraku smirked and stepped off to the side while Musou began to flex that new arm of his, rolling the shoulder within its socket. “Holy abilities, massive amounts of reiki and able to erect barriers… Kagome, why didn’t you tell me that you were a miko?” Seems Naraku finally figured it out. A shame it took him quite this long to find out.
“That’s none of your business.”
Naraku smirked at the girl who still held up her barrier around herself and Sesshoumaru.
“It makes sense now, why my drug did not work. I should have expected such.”
“Even if I wasn’t a miko, it never would have worked.”
Naraku’s brows rose in surprise at hearing the girl speak with such confidence, it actually has him curious, “Oh? And why’s that?”
Kagome’s lips spread to a wide grin, “Because you are weak. And besides, your ‘drug’ seems to have found a better target.”
Naraku’s eyes widened. What did she just say?! Weak?! Him? And who was the other target that took Naraku’s supposed place?! Wait, it couldn’t be Sesshoumaru, could it? It was difficult to tell because Kagome’s scent only held hers and hers alone. Should anything youkai related linger within her… It was likely cleansed from her body. This included Sesshoumaru’s scent, even after the many times they had coupled.
How powerful was this girl? And why did her powers only surface now? It was because of him, wasn’t it? Naraku was likely at fault for awakening Kagome’s dormant powers. Well, no matter. Naraku was going to kill them both today.
“I had intended to make you mine, Kagome. I would have given you anything and everything you’ve asked for. You would have been treated as a goddess. My goddess. You’d experience the life of luxury at your fingertips—“
“Bullshit!” Kagome snarled out angrily at the male in pure anger, glaring hard at Naraku. How dare he say such things?! “Who in their right fucking mind drugs someone against their will? You are nothing but a lecherous prick. All you do whine like a big fucking baby when things don’t go your way.”
Kagome’s outburst garnered a low growl from the youkai with eyes narrowing to dangerous slits at the newfound miko. Naraku wanted nothing more than to rip out her throat. How dare she speak to him like that? She was going to learn her place today.
“Enough of this. Juuroumaru. Byakuya. Musou. Goshinki. Kill them. Kill them all and leave no one alive.”
“Aye, finally we can have some fun.” Byakuya and the rest of them leapt out before Naraku and now it was two versus four. They seemed to be confident about this fight but both Kagome and Sesshoumaru were about to mop the floor with them.
And when the battle went on, Yakurou ordered all of his personnel to evacuate the building and find refuge far away from here. During amidst the chaos, Tsubaki had listened to everything that conspired within the main entrance and she too was surprised to find out that the girl was a miko! So, her hunch was right…
Tsubaki managed to sneak inside the building while the fight went on—Kagome holding her own against Juuroumaru and Musou while Sesshoumaru took on Byakuya and Goshinki.
Blood spattered across those floors, the walls and none of them belonged to Kagome or Sesshoumaru. It all belonged to Naraku’s henchmen.
Musou was the first one to take on Kagome but he was no match for her and her unbridled power. His attacks would be parried off by her barrier, one by one, purifying each limb he sent at her. Of course he regenerated them but that was starting to tire out his body and each time he came into contact with her holy power, he could feel his own just slipping away.
Musou was purified completely as the fight went on and could no longer do anything against the miko. Kagome marched for the man that would be completely exhausted as he fell to hands and knees and her hand reached down to take a hold of his throat and squeezed so hard, she nearly crushed his wind pipes when she lifted up his body from the ground. Musou tried with all his might to pry her hand from his throat, all the air leaving him as he began to suffocate with his body dangling. The hold on Musou did not loosen up but the moment he fell unconscious, she would be attacked from behind by Juuroumaru.
His fist came into contact with her barrier and didn’t even come close to hurting her. A hiss left him when he touched her holy barrier that nearly burned off his hand.
Kagome’s eyes turned to eye the pink haired man angrily and she was reminded of that certain event. “You… You are the one who did this to me, aren’t you?!”
Kagome dropped Musou’s unconscious body onto the floor, discarding him when she turned to face Juuroumaru, the man backing up from the now approaching woman.
Long pink hair was all she could remember and she had a feeling it was him. All the connections to the drug and him working for Naraku? There was no doubt in her mind that Juuroumaru was the one that served her that drink and kidnapped her that night at the gala.
“Do you how much you have ruined me? How much you have ruined my life?!” Her hand raised and brought it down hard as reiki flowed out from her finger trips so quick that even Juuroumaru’s enhanced speed could out run it. He was pushed hard against a nearby wall and literally pinned beneath her power. He’d feel the very edge of her barrier she had up smush his body hard against the surfaces and felt the searing hot pain that came with as if he was being burned alive.
He was now sandwiched between her barrier and that wall behind him.
Tsubaki couldn’t do anything to help Juuroumaru and even if she intervened, she would like receive Kagome’s wrath afterwards.
But there was something she has to do right now. Naraku was nowhere to be seen ever since the fight started and she knew where he would be, if her hunch was right. It was right the first time, maybe the second time would work? Tsubaki slyly slipped around from the desk and made her way down one hall to the many elevators that would lead to the lower levels. She took one last look at Juuroumaru until she disappeared into an elevator.
As for the pink haired male Kagome was going against, she effectively kept Juuroumaru pinned against the wall and her barrier that began to make a physical indentation into the walls he was pinned against.
She heard his skin sizzle from her attack and that man could not keep conscious any longer. The pain was too great and he immediately passed out. Kagome’s barrier dissipated when she saw this, watching the man’s body slide against the crumbled wall and fall in defeat.
Kagome could kill him but a part of her wished to not fall that far into the darkness of rage. She managed to calm herself and return to how she was previously but she had exerted out so much power for so long, she fell to the ground, completely exhausted.
Sesshoumaru sensed the power Kagome gave off cut off abruptly and turned his head behind him so see that she was on the ground. Was she defeated?!
“Where are you lookin’ at!”
Goshinki’s roar would bring Sesshoumaru’s attention but he did not turn around. Instead, Sesshoumaru turned from Goshinki and began to pace for Kagome’s body in slow stride.
Goshinki was furious. Was he being ignored?! He gave one loud roar and seven foot tall man charged for Sesshoumaru like one angry football player. He was going to tackle him to the ground but when Goshinki came within one foot of Sesshoumaru, his eyes went wide and his vision went up and soon fell to the ground.
‘What…?!’
The rest of Goshinki fell to his knees loudly and his body hit that floor pretty hard. Goshinki’s head was completely severed from its body and he did not realize that he was defeated until he saw his own body on the floor, now lying in a pool of his own blood. Death consumed the man in seconds. He would not have survived the attack either way as Sesshoumaru’s poisonous claws would have done him in either way.
As for Byakuya, he was nowhere to be found. He fought beside Goshinki but after Sesshoumaru sliced a piece of his flesh from his ribs, he fled for his life.
So all that remained there in the battered and bruised up entrance would be just Sesshoumaru who looked impeccable, save for his slightly tattered clothing, and Kagome, who was currently unconscious due to the massive amount of power she released in one sitting.
The girl would be lifted and carried into his arms, her body extremely warm to his surprise. She was still alive as he could hear the soft, miniscule breathing from her parted lips.
The battle was over but what of Naraku? That blasted man was gone. Did he slip away during the fight?
“Sesshoumaru-sama! Are you alright?”
Once the area was clear of enemies, Sesshoumaru was approached by the hermit and the rest of his personnel could only just watch in horror at the damage done. Well, luckily no one else was hurt during the fight. “Where is Naraku?”
Yakurou blinked. Naraku wasn’t here? Then where did he go? “He must still be in the building. Let’s get Kagome somewhere safe before we go after Naraku.”
Yakurou called for his four trusty assistants and briefed them on the situation as well as alerting the other members within the organization about what happened. Of course, Kagome’s business was kept confidential. Sesshoumaru was led by Yakurou and his assistants to the medical area of the vicinity and a single room would be used as Kagome was placed onto the bed so that she could recover.
When Yakurou dismissed his assistants, the hermit was also going to take his leave but he noticed that Sesshoumaru remained by Kagome’s side and definitely didn’t look like he was about to leave her.
It was better this way, actually.
“I’ll let you know if anything happens.” The hermit gave one last look to the eldest son until he was out the door.
Yakurou immediately ordered for everyone who was still able to find Naraku. He even used the intercom overhead on purpose so that Naraku, where ever he was, would hear and know he was about to be surrounded and never make it out of here alive.
And where was Naraku? He was on the basement floor of the vicinity, trying to find the supply room. All he needed was a particular plant that would fix all of this, to regain what he needed. Since Kagome was a miko, he was going to need more powerful ingredients and he knew how to remake the drug without Tsubaki’s help.
That storage room was located at the far end of the eerily vacant hall and that hanyou was so close to achieving his goal once more. While on the way there, he destroyed every security camera by use of the extra limbs that sprouted out from his back that resembled a spider’s leg. The basement floor looked to be abandoned, as if it wasn’t used in years… Which was good. That meant no one was down here and he could freely take what he needed without any interruptions.
He arrived at the single door at the far end of the hall that led into the main storage room and when he placed his hand onto the handle and pulled, it was locked. It was nothing for him and he pulled once more, putting all of his strength into it but again, it did not move. What the hell was up with this door? It looked to be your regular storage door but it just would not budge.
“Looking for something?”
A familiar voice rang into his ears from directly behind him and could not believe it. Why was she here?!
Naraku turned around and just before him some feet away would be the very slut he was looking for…
“Tsubaki.” He growled lowly in annoyance.
She smirked at the hanyou as her hands were rested upon her hips. That gal was not alone down there, though. Just beside her was Juuroumaru.
Naraku’s eyes widened. What?! How was Juuroumaru here? Why was he here!? Wasn’t he fighting those brats up stairs?
Immediately at the thought, the building began to shake as the battle that was going on up stairs between his men and said brats would be heard almost clearly, even if Naraku was several feet below the surface.
Both Tsubaki and Juuroumaru grinned widely at the hanyou now as he was so confused and completely lost. What was going on?
“Seems like your ex-boss here is confused.” Tsubaki uttered out those words towards her partner beside her and spoke loud enough for Naraku to hear her.
Ex-boss? Naraku eyed the pink haired male closely as he held a card shaped key in his hands, waving it at Naraku as it was what he would need to get into that storage room behind him. No human or youkai could get through there without a key.
The more Naraku eyed that other male, he was slowly recollecting old memories from years ago. Same pink hair, similar height, similar looks… Holy shit.
Naraku’s eyes widened in surprise and disbelief as he realized who he was, “I thought I got rid of you!”
‘Juuroumaru’ smirked. “Well it seems you didn’t, Naraku.”
That wasn’t Juuroumaru. That was Juuroumaru’s twin brother, Kageroumaru!
Now it all came back to him. He had replaced Kageroumaru with Juuroumaru because Kageroumaru was not loyal. He’d always take the chance to assassinate Naraku but he one-upped him every time. He thought he got rid of him but apparently not because he was still alive and standing before him.
“Now the stupid prick realizes everything, ne, love?”
Love?! So this slut had him too? Unbelievable. Naraku was so angry right now. How dare she! How dare she show her face here and again get in the way of his plans!?
“I have everything I need against you, Naraku. You are finished. You will be ruined and the only way to escape from this is death!”
Naraku barked out a bitter laugh, “Death? From you? Please. What can a used, washed up slut and some defective twin do against me? Naraku!?”
The three of them would hear the intercoms overhead which would be the voice of Yakurou as he would order for those demon slayers to find and kill Naraku.
What?! Was his entourage defeated? How?! He glanced back down at the pair before him who had the most gleeful look on their faces. All odds were against Naraku now. He could not do anything. Killing them and getting that card would only add more to his now growing bounty.
“I think it is time you turned yourself in, Naraku.”
Like hell he was!
“You haven’t seen the last of me. You all will fear my wrath when the time comes!”
Naraku’s eyes filled with red and his body began to grow within that small space of the hall way and both Tsubaki and Kageroumaru knew what he was going to do. Was he really going to shift here, of all places? He was going to get stuck!
But he didn’t care. He needed to retreat and get back to his lab before all the shit would hit the fan.
In seconds, Naraku took shape into a large, grotesque looking spider with eight long limbs with armored spikes, eight large beady eyes upon his head with tiny black pupils and using the force from his body’s transformation, he pushed outwards which caused the very space to crumble from Naraku’s strength. Tsubaki and Kageroumaru had to get away as a portion of the hallway began to collapse. The very area caused by Naraku’s transformation blew out a large portion of the building, creating one huge hole.
That large spider began to climb up several floors and pop out of the ground just outside of the main entrance. The pavement was up heaved by that spider as it crawled out from that large, gaping hole it created and immediately the spider took off into the thick brush of the forest within the mountain to get away from the now approaching demon slayers.
Yakurou ordered for every demon slayer to go after that spider and use all means necessary to stop him or kill him, if it came down to it.
But Naraku managed to escape from the demon slayers when the sun fell upon the horizon, escaping into the darkness of the night.
He may have got away but soon he will have what was coming to him.
=-=
The calm breeze that blew into the bedroom had the curtains dance along the wind and waft over the sleeping face of Kagome as she rested within her bed. The sounds of crashing waves and seagulls nearby would be enough to wake her up from her slumber. Eyes slowly opened and shifted within the bed as she rolled onto her side. Wait, a bed? What happened?!
A hand went to her head as she tried to recollect the events prior to today. Today? Was it still the same day even?
Well, anyway. She remembered seeing the hermit with Sesshoumaru and they found out what was wrong with her. She was injected with a stimulant that was made by Naraku and possibly another who helped.
Kagome immediately grimaced at the thought of becoming Naraku’s personal sex slave. Disgusting.
Her lips parted and she took in one deep breath, exhaling through her nostrils and slowly moved to sit upright. She was awake but where the hell was she right now?
Eyes opened and took a look around the room from within her bed that was way too low in height. As if it was on the ground. Head tilted down to look and seen this wasn’t a bed… It was a futon? Slowly she pulled the sheets from her body and slowly moved her body to swing around her legs to stand. She gave it a minute as she did not trust her legs at all ever since they gave way some days ago. Kagome flexed her toes and eased herself to stand while holding onto the pillars for support.
When she let go, she took one single step and found that her legs seemed to be okay. Whew.
Now Kagome began to look around and found herself in a room that was definitely like the one’s she was used to seeing. It resembled… A feudal home, almost, as with it belonged to a feudal lord. Wooden floors, sliding doors and panels, engravings of some sort of dog on the bamboo upon said doors.
A large floor mat placed before the bed added more to the décor, followed by a small rectangular wooden table with two cushions placed on opposite ends. The nearby walls held ancient paintings and portraits of beautiful scenery, ranging from vast, open meadows to wide, open lakes with bridges and tall mountains with wide valleys.
While the room did hold its traditional look of the feudal period, Kagome noticed the modern elements of today’s time within as seen with a light switch placed by the exit of the room. It lit up a small lantern just some feet above Kagome’s head, currently dimly lit and gave the atmosphere of the past period.
Everything looked so… Nostalgic to her. As if she belonged in this time period from long ago. Why? Everything looked so familiar.
Kagome gazed all around as much as she could but when she passed a wall standing mirror, she gasped at her reflection. She was no longer wearing that floral dress her mother gave her but instead, she’d be placed into a beautiful green and white kimono with short sleeves, its length stopping just after her knees. A red floral pattern would be plastered all upon the fabric upon sleeves and near the collar. One big red sash was tied at her waist, leaving the large bowtie upon her back.
Who dressed her up this way?
Actually, the better question was… Was she still in her own timeline?
She didn’t worry, she didn’t panic. It was as if she was okay with this change, if it actually happened.
Bare feet treaded across wooden floors as she made her way for the open balcony within that room, the scent of the sea getting stronger by the second as she drew closer. Hands reached for the curtains and pulled them further apart to now set her eyes upon the beautifully scenery of the vast ocean and a pristine clear beach.
The sands were impeccable, void of any dirt and other trash, save for the sea life that lived within those sands. Waves from the ocean that matched her very eye color would crash onto the sands in a set rhythm that soothed her very soul the more she gazed upon it all.
The summer breeze kissed her face when she stepped outside, her hair flowing with the wind and this brought a wide smile upon her face. This was what she wanted… The vacation she wished to have with Houjou.
But really, who brought her here? And who gave her these clothes?
Kagome peered over the bamboo railing within the balcony to gaze down below and noticed this home she was currently inside wasn’t so big as she thought. It was only three floors if she had to guess. Kagome leaned back and then gazed up try and take a pear at the roof but couldn’t make out much.
But the roofing was done just like those feudal castles centuries ago… Wait. Castle. A castle beside a beach.
The villa! This was the villa the Inu clan owned, right? Well, it belonged to Sesshoumaru now, did it not?
Where was he—
“I see you are awake.”
Kagome gasped and was completely startled out of her thoughts; she almost fell off of the ledge!
Luckily her grip was firm and when she turned around, her eyes found her brother but his attire was completely different than what she normally saw him wear. No suit, no casual clothing… This was new and she liked it. She liked it a lot.
Sesshoumaru wore a pure white kimono coupled with red and white cherry blossom flowers printed upon the fabric, a similar looking crest found upon the collar and the sleeves that noted his royal status within the Inu Youkai clan. Sashinuki hakama worn upon lower half of his frame, the ends of the material gathered around his ankles as it produced a balloon like effect. A long, golden sash was tied around his waist over plated armor that did not resemble the Japanese style she had known… It was similar yet there was a distinct vast difference between what she knew and what he wore. His feet were covered in black socks and lastly, there was something draped over his right shoulder.
Was that a boa?! It looked far too fluffy to be a boa. Even from the distance she could tell it was soft to the touch. She wanted to touch it herself to find out!
But wait, didn’t he just say something to her? Shit, she forgot.
“Uhh… We are at your villa, right?”
Sesshoumaru answered her with a light nod of his head. He’d approach her as she stood within the balcony, now noticing that he had something in his hand. It was a small ceramic cup and she did not see the contents within until he handed it to her when he stepped out onto the balcony with her.
She took the cup and it was warm to the touch, the liquid inside was dark green in color and honestly, it looked horrible. What was it?
“Drink.”
Eh?! She had to drink this? Why?!
Sesshoumaru saw her hesitate and he inclined his head towards her just a tad, “It is the suppressant.”
Oh… Oh! That’s right! That hermit was supposed to make her a suppressant for that damn drug.
Shit. The one time she wished she wasn’t in the current era. A frown graced her lips and eyed the liquid for long moments before bringing it to her lips and gulped down the drink. Her face immediately grimaced when the taste hit her tongue. Bleh! It tasted like a really strong fruit smoothie with nothing but all the green shit in it. At least the after taste was pleasant.
She managed to gulp down the whole thing, licking her lips afterwards as she still continued to grimace at the stuff.
“Yuck… Don’t tell me I have to keep drinking that to get better…”
“It is necessary until the hermit finds a cure.”
Great! Just fucking great. Kagome sighed out with a shake of her head, setting down that empty cup upon the small table within the balcony.
“So, what happened? And how did I end up here?”
Sesshoumaru looked her over after she spoke, wondering if this suppressant will work. Well, he was a country-wide known potion master. Yakurou has been at it for centuries so there was no reason to doubt him now.
“How much do you remember?”
Kagome scratched her head as she tried to remember those events but for some reason, all that came back to her was a blur. Arms crossed beneath bust and gave a frustrated sigh, “I only remember seeing Naraku’s face and getting really angry. I got nothing after that.”
Sesshoumaru was slightly amused that the girl, no, miko, could not remember what all that has happened, in which he would have expected after using so much holy power in one sitting.
“Naraku and his men showed up at the organization. It seems he was there to steal some ingredients to remake the drug used on you.”
Kagome scowled upon hearing that name again and just could not stand that youkai anymore. Damn him. Damn him and everyone who worked to ruin her life. She did nothing to deserve that.
“Did he manage?”
“No but he did manage to escape. You and I fought against his men and you purified the two you fought. They are currently under custody under the demon slayer organization. Rest assured that they will not be seeing the light of day ever again.”
It was good news but Naraku was still out there and at large.
“I did…?” She didn’t even remember that. She must have done okay because she was sporting no injuries. But how did she manage that? Was it because of her relation to the great Midoriko of ancient times? Huh…
Blue eyes rose to grace Sesshoumaru’s face who gazed back at her with a wondrous stare and Kagome knew there was more to be said. Lips pursed to a thin line as her head turned away to gaze back out at the sea, leaning over just a tad to grip onto the railing.
“How long was I out for?”
“Two days.”
Two days?! Wasn’t she supposed to be back at home right now? That was far longer than the supposed trip they ‘planned’.
“I have taken the liberty of notifying your mother as well as my father about our ‘vacation’. They seem to be quite enthusiastic about this getaway of ours.”
Kagome chuckled. “Hah, I wonder why.”
Another calm breeze passed by and silence would return, a free hand ran through her raven locks and she sighed. Sesshoumaru could sense that she was troubled that came from her aura alone and wondered why she was feeling such. Their enemies were defeated, well, save for Naraku but he could not out run those demon slayers for long.
Sesshoumaru stood beside Kagome as her gaze lingered on the scenery and he too would join her as amber hues viewed the ocean.
“Do you wish to head home?”
Kagome shook her head, “No, not yet. I don’t know how to explain it but I get the feeling of nostalgia when I am here…” She smiled once more at the thought. “It’s funny as I have never been here before but I feel as if I have been all my life.” What was the cause for that? She didn’t know.
“Is that why you are dressed like that?”
The question directed to her brother beside her as a curious glance was sent his way.
And for the first time ever, she heard him chuckle. “The nostalgia you speak of is part of the reason why.”
Curiously her head gave a tilt, “Do you miss it? The past, I mean.” He lived for many, many years. Far longer than her own regular lifespan but she was always curious about the past and a tiny part of her was a bit jealous that youkai could live for so long.
“No, I do not. The past is the past. Clinging onto something that no longer exists is something I’ve noticed humans do quite often.”
Kagome frowned, “And are you saying youkai do not? I’m sure you miss roaming free whenever and wherever you wished, no?”
“A lot has changed since then. Society was more barbaric if anything. I do not wish to return to that.” Modern day society was more civilized, surprisingly. He’d have to put the blame on the sudden rise of the human population throughout the years with youkai living amongst them.
Kagome giggled lightly, “Were you also barbaric? I can hardly imagine so but I have heard so much about you Inu youkai that I might believe it to be true.”
Head turned to gaze at his sister with an arched brow when he heard her words. “You suspect me for being a barbarian?”
“No… But I’m saying… It is possible.” She was making light of their conversation by teasing him? Really? He had nothing for her but he did see her hand move when her gaze dropped down to his moko-moko draped over his shoulder.
Kagome had been wondering about the damn thing for so long now, she just wanted to touch it to confirm her suspicions.
“May I?” She inquired her brother in curious tone and only wished to sate her curiosity. Sesshoumaru knew she may question about the pile of fluff upon his shoulder and so, he’d turn just slightly as he’d give her the okay to touch with a slight nod of the head.
Kagome reached forwards and just the tips of her fingers would lightly graze the fluff, as if testing the waters for something she did not know.
Then her hand pressed forward even more until her palm touched the softness and she gasped quietly at how soft this thing was. What the hell was it?! And why was it so soft?! She wanted to rub her face in it, too. Kagome couldn’t help but to smile as she practically petted the fluffiness and Sesshoumaru was having an extremely difficult time in stopping himself from purring.
Soft petting continued until Kagome saw slight movement coming from the thing. Wait, what?! It could move, too?! Was it alive? Kagome was so confused! Another surprised gasp escaped her when the lengthy fluff began to move and it would coil around her body, circling her waist and pulled her closer towards Sesshoumaru.
“It is alive?!”
Kagome didn’t mean to sound so shocked but she couldn’t believe it. This fluff had all her attention now as her eyes watched the fluffiness move like a snake, the tip brushing lightly over the back of her knees. “What is it?”
“It is my family heirloom.”
“…A living heirloom?”
“Yes.”
Kagome blinked slowly, gazing up from the fluffiness to look upon Sesshoumaru’s face but gaze switched to his right shoulder. She’d reach out to gently comb her fingers through the fluff once more, “…Do you… feel that?” She was highly curious about something.
“Yes. It is a part of me.”
He did?! Holy shit. Was it linked to him in some way?
Kagome suddenly had a thought in her mind and wished to experiment further. Her fingers curled and began to rake her nails across the fluff in a gentle stroke like one would do to a pet dog, “Do you feel that too?”
“Yes.” He growled lowly at her, his eyes nearly widening. What was she doing or trying to prove?
Kagome giggled at his response and removed her hand, simply stroking his covered shoulder with her palm.
“So, did that hermit tell you how many times I need to drink that yucky stuff?” Because Kagome was not looking forward to drinking that again anytime soon.
“Once a week.”
Well, that doesn’t seem so bad. Kagome removed her hand from the pelt she was stroking as a frown graced her lips, slowly remembering all what has happened just recently. What a fucking day that was, too. Taking on youkai with power she didn’t know she had… It was like one dream she could not believe to have. The extra physical strength she did not mind, nor the added amount of her appetite but the fact that she had a broken reproductive system a huge deal to her.
She could not have children.
Unbelievable. This was the life Naraku was going to give her? To become his sex slave that he could just repeatedly use over and over and be saved from ever having his child?
Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.
Kagome wasn’t so sure to be angry or sad right now. She was ready to strangle something, that’s for sure.
Sesshoumaru could sense Kagome’s aura flare as she became silent and he did not have to guess what the problem was. His moko-moko shifted from around her waist as it rubbed against her lower back, the act had her gazing up slowly to look at Sesshoumaru and he almost flinched upon seeing the pain and anguish within those blues.
Facial features that were normally ice cold and void of any emotion would slowly soften as he held her gaze.
“Sorry, I’m just… Really upset.”
She was more than just upset. She was hurting. A lot. Kagome was trying her hardest to not let it show on her face but was having a lot of difficulty in doing so. And the more she resisted these feelings, the more she felt exhausted. Seems like she had not fully recovered all of her used up power just yet.
She began to lean in towards Sesshoumaru and he took noticed of the slight fatigue within her movements. “Do you wish to rest?”
Kagome nodded her head lightly to answer his question. She’d make her way back inside the room with Sesshoumaru there beside her in case if she needed any assistance. She sat upon the edge of the bed with a light huff leaving her lips and gaze going down to her lap.
Her gaze did not remain there for long as she’d feel clawed fingertips brush along the side of her head and move her bangs away from her face, eyes looking up to find Sesshoumaru once more and saw the tiny bit of concern within those golden hues.
Sesshoumaru saw those lips slowly spread to a small smile that reassured him that she would be okay. “Nii-sama…” A hand would reach for his sleeve and gave a small tug, wanting for him to come closer. It did not dawn to him what she was asking for until he saw her chin tilt upwards in his direction. He’d lean down slowly towards his dear sister with both of their eyes slowly drifting close upon coming close.
And before they knew it, they kissed. Lips had melded together like the missing two pieces of a puzzle. Their lips would part as their kiss gradually deepened, resuming that passion they had for each other days ago. It had Kagome’s heart skipping a beat.
Their tender moment would end abruptly as a sound rang within that home. Was that a doorbell? Who the hell was it? Sesshoumaru pulled away from their kiss to stand and Kagome immediately whimpered at the loss of his lips. But she was also curious as to who arrived here. Wasn’t this place private? Well, she assumed it was.
Her eyes fluttered open when she heard Sesshoumaru’s footsteps and a displeased sound coming from him. Was he growling?
Kagome saw him leave and she was just so curious to find out who arrived as well and followed right behind him. She quickly paced behind him because she had a feeling she’d get lost in this house.
She’d make her way down the stairs after Sesshoumaru, turning around one corner and then another until they arrived at the entrance to the home that held two, large double doors. Kagome didn’t expect for him to have his own servants in this place, just two of them wearing a plain colored kimono that was pale green in color, currently bowing very low before the approaching lord.
“W-we are sorry, Sesshoumaru-sama! This woman is persistent to let herself in!”
One servant complained about someone who arrived and this had him highly annoyed as he was interrupted for this.
“Explain, now.”
The black haired lesser youkai spoke once more, “She says she wishes to see Kagome-sama.”
Kagome blinked slowly in confusion, “Eh? I don’t think anyone knows I’m here…”
Sesshoumaru knew this as well so who the hell was it? He growled lowly and pushed open those doors to head outside, his servants quickly backing away from the annoyed son. Kagome paced behind Sesshoumaru when they made their way outside, the large courtyard quite beautiful, she’d have to admit. It was well decorated with plenty of flowers.
But in the middle of the courtyard would be a woman who was just as tall as Kagome, wearing what Kagome recognized it to be miko attire? But it was different. She wore dark colors, completely opposite of what a miko would normally wear.
Sesshoumaru took one step forward and narrowed his eyes at the female who stood some feet away. “Who are you and why are you trespassing?”
The woman smirked and bowed her head before the ‘lord’. “I apologize for my rather rude entry, Sesshoumaru-sama, but I come bearing pressing news for Kagome-sama.” Her gaze switching to the female beside him with her smirk growing wider.
Kagome eyed this lady warily and did now know who the hell she was. Sesshoumaru noticed this and believed this woman to be crazy. That and her scent reeked of Naraku and other various scents of men upon her. Such a putrid smell this woman had.
“And why should I allow for you to speak to her? The foul stench of Naraku is upon you, along with many others.” He did not trust this woman one bit. Actually, he was ready to kill her where she stood if she did not make her leave soon.
“Leave. Now.”
Kagome gasped lightly. Naraku? Did she work for him? Why was she here? Was this some sort of attack?
Immediately the woman saw both Kagome and Sesshoumaru become cautious and looked ready to kill her. All the stranger did was quickly bow her head, “Please, hear me out. My name is Tsubaki, Tsubaki Ko. I used to work for Naraku and I am here to let Kagome-sama know of the true intentions of the stimulant we made.”
What the hell? Did she hear that correctly? So Naraku had help in making that drug? So she was another one that also ruined her life?! Kagome glared hard at this woman named Tsubaki and felt like purifying her too.
“You have five seconds to explain why I shouldn’t kill you where you stand.” Sesshoumaru’s hand rose and those fingers began to glow that same green color, poisons beginning to seep within those fingertips.
“I come bearing news to a possible cure for Kagome.”
Kagome’s eyes widened when she heard that word. Cure. A cure! But wait. Wasn’t she an enemy? Was she lying? She had to be, right?
“I’m listening.”
Kagome gasped lightly. Sesshoumaru was willing to hear her out? Why? “But she’s an enemy, right?”
Sesshoumaru spared Kagome a quick glance before returning his gaze back to the woman named Tsubaki. “If she lies, she is dead.”
He could tell if she was lying or not?
“Humor me.”
Well, Tsubaki had their attention now, so, here goes nothing!
“First, let me say that I had no idea why Naraku was making this drug until it was finalized. He told me that he wished to use it upon you, Kagome and get his revenge on the Taisho family. Something about business, blah blah. Who gives a shit, right?”
Tsubaki chuckled to herself and continued to get to the important part, “I’m sure you’ve known that this drug was made by evil intentions, Kagome. It was meant to become a permanent change to your body so that you’ll be a loyal follower to that prick for as long as he wished. There is no cure—“
Immediately Sesshoumaru growled and began to ready his fingers to produce that light whip.
“Or so Naraku thinks. That hermit you visited will not find the cure you seek. Yes, he could produce something to suppress the drug but this thing has embedded so deep into your brain and nervous system, it would require replacing the whole thing to get you back to normal… And there is only one way to do that.”
It was a lot for them to take in but she knew they were listening intently to her words. Her eyes now remained on Sesshoumaru with her smirk returning, “I’m sure you know how, Sesshoumaru-sama.”
Actually, it’s been right in his hands all along. Or his teeth rather.
Sesshoumaru had been listening and found that Tsubaki had not been lying at all when she spoke. But this ‘cure’ she spoke of… Sesshoumaru would know how to do it? Why did it feel as if the woman was speaking in riddles? Sesshoumaru wasn’t one for riddles and wanted a clear cut explanation.
As for Kagome, she was listening as well but was also confused as Tsubaki mentioned the cure that Sesshoumaru knew how to do. Did he know? Even if he did, he would have told her right now, right? Out of all that time they were trying to find something to counteract what was happening to her, he had the cure with him? Just what was it?
Sesshoumaru remained silent as he pondered what Tsubaki was referring to, his gaze dropping a tad while in thought. Upon carefully repeating Tsubaki’s words within his mind, he would soon realize exactly what Tsubaki meant. His eyes widened and Kagome saw this, wondering what he just found out!
Tsubaki began to beam at the elder youkai as he may have figured it out. “Aha, do you understand now, Sesshoumaru-sama?”
He understood. He understood completely. Why didn’t he think of this sooner?! He would have done so long ago if that were the case.
But wait, why was she telling him this? There had to be some sort of catch to it, right?
Kagome felt so left out. Apparently they realized something she didn’t and frowned. What was this supposed cure? Tsubaki saw the look Kagome gave and gazed at her fully, “Kagome-sama. Are you familiar with youkai mating?”
Kagome looked to Tsubaki when she was called for and upon hearing that question, she shook her head. “No, I do not. Is that somehow related to this cure you speak of?”
Tsubaki nodded her head happily. “Of course!”
But why did Sesshoumaru have a bad feeling all of a sudden about this?
“You see, when a youkai takes in a mate, they place a mark upon them, usually right at the spot where the neck meets shoulder,” Indicating where with an extended finger upon her own neck, tapping lightly, “It can be placed any time but it is most preferred and properly done when the mating mark is placed during the peak of the pair’s impending climax during sex.”
Her hand then rose up with her palm open, stretching it out towards Kagome as she continued with Sesshoumaru listening in as well. “Then the process starts where their youki would begin to swirl and connect with one another, becoming bonded as one and their lives linked. The same happens for a youkai and human pairing, essentially extending the human’s lifespan with the youkai so that they could live happily together for the many centuries to come…”
Okay, Kagome understood somewhat. So a youkai mating was a way for a human to live longer than normal means should they choose to mate with a youkai. That sounded nice and all but how was this a cure? And why was Sesshoumaru not looking too happy about Tsubaki telling her all of this?
“This is also a way for humans to escape death or cure any illnesses that have taken over their bodies. Like say if a human was at death’s door with a disease that will take their life in some days, they will be saved should they partake in a youkai mating. Now, say if a girl who was stricken with a damaging drug that has embedded deep into the far corners of their brain and nerve endings as well as their nervous system… A youkai mating would fix that right up.”
So, that was it? She’d need to find a mate to get cured? Couldn’t Sesshoumaru have done that? Curious blues were set to the youkai beside her yet he looked so pissed off and quite angry. Why? Wasn’t this supposed to be a good thing? Or was she lying?
“Nii-sama?”
Sesshoumaru calmed himself a tad but still glared hard at Tsubaki. “What she says is true. Should you find a youkai to mate, you will be saved. But…”
“But she will cease to exist.”
Tsubaki finished his words and Kagome’s eyes widened in disbelief. What?! She will no longer exist? What did she mean by that?!
Tsubaki would continue, “Kagome-sama. The youkai mating is a powerful thing. Should you choose to go through with the mating, the process will cure you but you will no longer remember who you are. The process will essentially cleanse your body completely of the drug, practically replacing your nervous system with brand new healthy cells, your brain included, replacing any and everything that has been contaminated by the drug. You will lose all your memories and no longer remember what makes you you.”
Kagome’s eyes widened greatly. What… What?!
So if she mated with a youkai, she will forget who she was? She would lose all her memories?! That… no! She couldn’t do that! She could not even imagine forgetting about her brother, her mother, Rin, Inuyasha, Mr. Taisho and…
“Sesshoumaru…” She whispered his name quietly and she turned to look at him and he could not bear to look at her.
“Tell me, that is not true, is it?”
Sesshoumaru was not one to lie. Ever. “It is… Entirely possible.”
So Tsubaki wasn’t lying?!
Sesshoumaru was wholly glad that he did not follow through with his instincts in placing his mark upon Kagome those many times before. She would have been nothing but a shell if he had done so.
Kagome frowned and slowly turned to Tsubaki, “Why… Why are you telling us this?”
“Because you deserve a second chance, Kagome-sama. I never got mine. I made the mistake of trusting a youkai who only stabbed me in the back and this is my way of trying to fix what has been done. You can call it turning over a new leaf. Well, turning it sideways, really. I do not want Naraku to reach his goal and I will stop it nothing to prevent such.”
So, this was all because she didn’t want Naraku to have his way should he choose to go after Kagome again?
No. Kagome did not wish to believe her at all. There was going to be a cure. She believed in Yakurou and knew he could make her a cure.
Without word, Kagome made her way back inside and was completely silent. She didn’t bother gazing back as she disappeared back inside the house.
Sesshoumaru gazed at Tsubaki, “Leave now or else I’ll change my mind about killing you.”
And Tsubaki bowed her head one last time before taking her leave from the small villa, just as mysteriously as she arrived.
Sesshoumaru remained outside his courtyard for long moments, his gaze going to the bright sky above and ventured far into his thoughts once more that day.
He was contemplating on doing the mating to save her. If there wasn’t this huge drawback, Sesshoumaru would have done it without question. But was it even worth to save her if she would no longer remember who she was? Or if she could no longer remember him?
Questions he would not find the answers for today, tomorrow or the next coming days, he was sure.
