         Demires: City Of The Damned

         Three: Inuyasha

I can only nod at Kagome's correct assumption.

"What are we supposed to do?" she asks.

"The only thing we can. Wait until Kenjin comes to us. Because he will."

"You're really going to kill him, aren't you?"

"What else am I supposed to do? Just let him kill me?" I snarl, completely stressed.

"No, that's not what I said. I just thought you'd drive him out somehow or something..."

"Are you insane? Kenjin cannot be convinced to anything! Kagome, I have to kill him! I have no other choice!"

She just looks down at the floor, a disappointed look on her face.

"Look, Kagome, I'm sorry. I'm just really freaked about this..."

"It's okay," she says softly, looking up and giving me a smile. "I wish I could be more help to you. I don't really know much about what happened between you two..."

"What's there to know? He bit me, I became a demire, he's back to kill me, end of story."

She turns her head to watch the fire that's burning in the nearby fireplace. "No, I know that. I mean, well, what exactly happened to you? I want the details. If I have them, I might be able to figure something out. Some way to help you."

I sigh. I've never liked to talk about the past, and Kagome knows it. So why is she asking me? "Kagome, you really want to know?"

She nods and sits down on the couch in front of the fire. Turning around to look at me, she says, "Tell me everything."

;        I sit down next to her, taking a deep breath. To some, what happened between Kenjin and I, the things I saw...they may seem non-existent or just plain stupid. But I know what happened, I know what I saw...I know that everything is real. I know what I am.

"I was bitten about three years ago, but then you already knew that. It was October, remember?" She nods, remembering the event, then motions for me to continue. "It was midnight when it happened. I was sleeping like a normal human, and considering it was the night before Halloween, I was scared shitless when I heard Kenjin drop in through my bedroom window. I only saw his shadow, because the light of the moon was the only source of illumination. I heard him walk over to me, and I, attempting to be somewhat brave, sat up completely, ready to look him in the eye.

"Of course, I didn't know it was Kenjin then. All I knew was that it was someone trying to hurt me in some physical matter. How did I know? I felt it. And I kind of knew when he put his hands to my throat.

"I thought he meant to kill me, really. And technically, he did. I can't remember how, exactly, but he had me pinned, his mouth to my neck. And the last thing I really felt was the piercing pain at my throat which comes with the feeding.

"But, suddenly, he stopped, viciously wiping the blood from his mouth, wiping his hands against his pants in attempt to clean them, looking at me with horror. I couldn't figure out why, either. He made some sort of strangled groan of pain, continuously waving his hands in the air as if his hands were burning.

"Then, he came up to me with his hands, showing them to me. Apparently, a hanyou is some sort of curse to a vampire. He didn't know that I was a hanyou, and to be honest, I don't know why. I would think that vampire senses are almost as good as demon senses. The picture of his face was haunting, and still, it's hard to look at him without wincing."

I take a deep sigh and look at Kagome, seeing if she registered anything that I just told her.

"But why...why don't demires have that same effect? When Kenjin ran his hand along my arm at the club, nothing happened."

& nbsp;       "Kenjin will only get the reaction if he is exposed to hanyou blood, not demire blood. I don't know why, but that's the way it is."

         She nods. "Continue?"

"Well, you were the first one I tried to tell. It was Halloween, and I remember you thought I was just trying to scare you." I watch her smile at the memory. "Do you remember how long it took me to convince you I was for real?"

She lets out a small laugh and says, "All night."

I nod. "Not until about two o'clock in the morning did you even begin to consider the truth."

"I remember how terrified I was of you," Kagome says, a disappointed gleam in her eyes. "You know, I never got a real chance to apologize for that."

"No, it's okay. The truth wasn't exactly welcoming, either.

"Anyway, after you stopped talking to me, I felt...well, broken, I guess. I was in love with you then, too, but you knew that. I had to find out how to feed on my own, considering Kenjin was going to be of no help. Eventually, I learned to feed, still horrified of what I was and still am, not knowing that whoever I bit would turn into another being like me.

"Which brings me to the rampage of my 'children' killing your brother, Sota. And a few years later, killing the rest of your family...

"And then I needed your help with the antidote, and now, here we are." I sigh, looking at the floor.

"Kenjin never bothered you?" she asks.

         "No, not until now."

          "But why now?"

"How the hell am I supposed to know?" I snap, but look at Kagome apologetically.

"I'm sorry," she says. "We need to see Kenjin again."

"We will wait," I say firmly. "His location is always hidden, so all we can do is wait."

;       "Then we will," Kagome says.

She rests her head on my shoulder, staring at the flickering flames of the fire.

&nbs p; A/N: Hope you enjoyed!! I'm glad that I got a chance to bring more of Inuyasha's story through this story. I felt like what happened to him beforehand was important. ^_^ Thankies!
