InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Demires : The Love Of An Enemy ❯ Kagome ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
A/N: There will most likely be a lot of OOC-ness in this story, but it's an Alternate Universe...so there. Haha. ^_^ Anyway, hope you enjoy...the idea's a little crazy and "out there" but I really like it ^_^

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Inuyasha. However, I do own the whole "Demires" idea and theory, so no stealing!

Demires : The Love Of An Enemy

One: Kagome

I don't know why I'm out this late. I shouldn't have walked to the party. I should have taken my car.

A certain fear pools in my stomach as I pass a few alleyways; a small shiver running along my spine every time I look into their darker depths. I can feel him. I don't know how or where he is, I can just feel him.

It scares me. It's frightening to know that he knows where I am at all times. Plus, he's the leader of them all; the leader of the blood thirsty creatures. It's his fault they exist.

I can't call him a vampire, nor can I call him a demon. Therefore, I came up with the simple word "demire" to call him and his race.

Most people believe that vampires are demons in themselves, but to me, a demon and a vampire are two completely different beings. Vampires are the immortal dead, and must kill and drink blood to survive. Demons are like human souls that long for the kill, but do not need the kill or the blood to live.

His race all started with him. Somehow, he was bitten - bitten by a vampire - and because only half of him was human, only half of his being became vampire. Then, when he fed, whoever he bit would turn into a demire. His demon and vampire blood would mix with there's, causing the transformation.

I'm the only one that knows about the demire race. Sure, people know about the deaths, and then the strange disappearance of the bodies; but no one knows who or what causes it. Demires keep hidden; they hide from the light and people.

How to kill them? As far as I know you can kill them just like any other vampire with a stake in the heart. Of course, your strength has to be doubled, making anything human basically helpless when the issue of killing a demire is brought up.

It's cold out tonight; there seems to be an extra chill in the air. Most likely because a demire is near.

Suddenly, the demire I have been sensing jumps down in front of me. Even though I knew he was coming, I jumped back a bit, startled by the sudden drop-in.

"What do you want?" I say calmly. I really do not feel like dealing with him tonight; I'm tired, and probably just a little bit drunk.

You're probably wondering what I have against this single demire that makes my blood boil. He killed my younger brother, Sota, in one of his rampages, and a few years later, his kind took my mother and grandfather, also. I despise him.

He doesn't answer, only stares at me, most likely taking in my image.

His red-orange eyes scan my figure, and I can't help but stand frozen to the spot. His silver hair is draped over his shoulders in messy strands, his shirt clinging to his well-toned chest. He takes a step closer to me, and I jump back as an involuntary action.

"I didn't come to cause you harm," he says softly.

"Sure, you didn't," I snap, crossing my arms.

"I swear on my life," he says, and I can tell he's serious. I drop my defensive look and roll my eyes.

"What do you want?" I repeat.

"I need your help."

I nearly double over in laughter. "You need help? My help?" I say.

"Come on, Kagome, I'm serious..."

I laugh more and then look him straight in the eye. "What could be bad enough that you need my help?"

"You'll have to come with me."

"I won't go with you. You can tell me here."

"No, I can't. Please, come with me."

"Inuyasha, I'm not going with you. Do you understand how much I despise you?" He looks hurt as I say this, but I don't know why. He hates me anyway.

"I've told you a thousand times before and I'll tell you again. I didn't know your brother was there!" he nearly yells, sending a shiver through my body. He knows I'm scared, he can probably smell my fear. But I don't show it.

"Oh, and that makes up for the rest of the people you and your kind have killed?" I ask defensively.

"If I would have known they were going after your family, I would have very well stopped them."

"What makes you so sure?"

Inuyasha and I were friends before his transformation took place. Surprisingly enough, he remembered who I am. Somehow, I found out about what had really happened to him, and what's really killing all the people; I don't remember. No one believes my 'stories' though.

He sighs heavily and I can tell he's annoyed. "Would you stop being a bitch and come?"

"Fine," I say angrily, walking closer to him. I can sense that he really means no harm. I know I'm putting myself in danger, but I think that he most likely really needs my help.

He kneels down in front of me, his back to me, and says, "Get on."

"What, Inu-"

"Just do it," he snarls.

I'm really not in the mood to argue with him, so I get on his back, and he leaps off to only Kami knows where.

I have to admit, the sensation of nearly flying is incredible, but it's deathly cold. However, I don't shiver, and I'm not going to.

Suddenly, after what feels like hours, I'm taken in to a dark room, and I can't see anything; the only thing I can feel is Inuyasha's hand on my arm pulling me along. For a moment, a shiver of fear courses through me, and I curse at myself under my breath because I know he can smell my fear.
