Chapter 4: Failure of Flight

"Kagome are you sure that…" Sango whispered.

"Hush…" Kagome shook her head telling Sango not to make a sound.

Kagome could feel that they weren't alone, moving as quietly as they could they went forward into a dark room. Unexpectedly, something moved so quickly that Kagome couldn't even see what it was and the next thing she realized what was happening, someone was behind her and had pinned both her arms behind her back.

"Kagome!" Sango cried.

She whirled around to aim her `Xenos Needler' at the attacker but she was also ambushed from the back.

"Where are we?" A low husky voice asked.

Moving her eyes back she saw sliver hair and someone in a red outfit. Frowning slightly she turned her head slightly and came eye to eye with a pair of golden eyes, and someone with long slivery hair and white doggy ears.

"Youkai…?" Kagome's eyes widened with surprised.

"I ask where are we?" Inuyasha asked again giving her a rude jerk.

"Eternal…" Kagome whispered. "You are in the mother board of Eternal…"

"That can't be!" The other person who captured Sango whispered. "There is no way we could be transported through space like that…"

"Why are you doing this?" Sango choked, looking at her capturer to see he was human. "You are human aren't you?"

"Hai," He answered rather sadly.

"We need to find my brother and get out of here…" Inuyasha said. "Wench, you both will have to help us, if not I don't know what I will do to you…"

Kagome glared at Inuyasha hatefully but remained silent.

"Let's go…"

Rin wiped her forehead quickly, as she began to break into cold sweat cause of anxiousness while she type onto the keyboard, looking up at the transparent monitor in the air. Sesshoumaru stood not far away from her watching her work with slight amazement on his face. He could see that this girl was trying hard to help him like she had promised. He smiled inwardly as he continued staring at her.

He had never come across such beauty before. Her flawless, smooth and fair skin was so soft under his hands. He just wished he could touch her again. Her lips were so soft and sweet, if only she would not struggled and deny him when he kiss her. His thoughts could put him in ecstasy again, but he quickly pushed away when he remembered he was trapped in a ship with humans.

"There," Rin whispered pointing at the monitor. "There are two other life forces unknown on this ship…"

"How would you know that they are unknown?" Sesshoumaru asked looking at where she was pointing on the monitor.

Rin smiled slightly and turned to him, pulling down her leather collar around her neck she showed him a small round silvery button on her skin.

"Everyone on board had this on us," Rin explained. "It is to identify us and also to tell where we are in the ship for this place is so huge sometimes you will get lost in it if you don't know your way about."

Sesshoumaru raised his hand to touch that button gently and felt like that button was actually attached to her skin, he frowned slightly to think that her skin would be scared if it was taken off.

"They burned the button onto us when we are babies," Rin said softly. "If you are thinking why is it on my skin? The button is actually part of me …"

"Why would they do such a thing? It looked so much like slavery…"

"It is not…" Rin shook her head. "It is actually technology… it is how we keep track of ourselves in this ship and make sure everyone is doing well."

Rin turned to study the monitor again and her mouth nearly fell opened.

"Kagome? Sango?" She exclaimed.

"Who?"

"My friends, whoever you are looking for, have taken my combat partners hostages!"

"Where are they?"

"They are at the middle part of the ship…" Rin said as she typed on to the keyboard. "We are at the lowest section, and your ship… surprising is in our main dock, where visitors' ships can land…"

"How can we get there?"

"Actually, we will have some difficulty but I have an idea…" Rin said.

"Owwww!!!!" Kagome groaned when Inuyasha gripped her arms a little too tightly.

"Shut up wench!!!" Inuyasha whispered hoarsely.

"You're hurting my arm!!!!" Kagome whispered back angrily.

"Stop squirming and I will…"

"Inuyasha-sama…" Miroku called softly. "I think you are about to break her arm if you continue to hold her that way…"

"Huh?" Inuyasha looked down and saw the way he had twisted Kagome's arm in an odd angle and quickly let go slightly. "Sorry…"

"Hmmmpfff…" Kagome said rudely.

Both Kagome and Sango followed them reluctantly as they moved down the deserted corridor carefully looking out for other guards which roamed around.

Rin escorted Sesshoumaru through the engines room where they were connected through every level where channels wide enough for them to climbed upwards to get them to the level where Sango and Kagome were. The channels were warm for hardly any air and ventilations go through the area.

Rin was bath in sweat as her skin glitter in the light cause of the heat, Sesshoumaru however who was a youkai was not bothered by the slight heat as he flew slightly below Rin. He looked up at Rin who was struggling slightly as she climbed upwards using the piping on the metal walls. As Rin took another step, this time she slipped caused her hands were slippery with sweat and thinking she was about to fall, she shut her eyes tight, but instead she felt herself flying upwards. Gradually she opened her eyes again to see Sesshoumaru next to her, his arms wrapped around her and they were flying upwards.

"You can fly?" Rin exclaimed.

"Hai," He replied expressionlessly.

"Why didn't you say so...?"

"You never ask…"

"It would have safe me the energy to climb…" Rin sighed out of breath.

"I promise not to touch you…"

"Oh," Rin blushed. "It's ok, thanks for saving me…"

Sesshoumaru looked down at the blushing girl silently, she looked so cute with her cheeks flushing, wondering if he kissed her right now, would she mind, but his thoughts were interrupted when Rin spoke.

"You miss the level Sesshoumaru…"

Slowing down slightly, he flew downwards and land on another dark channel where Rin had pointed to and slowly he land on the floor gracefully putting her down gently, Rin looked up at him when he didn't make any move to let her go, Sesshoumaru stared down at the confused beauty in his arm and sighed inwardly, gradually he let her go reluctantly. How he wished the channel would just go on and on so that she could still be in his arms.

"This way…" Rin said walking to the double metal doors.

Punching the pin numbers on the key pads next to the doors quickly and waited for the door to slide open. When it did, Rin stopped short when she came face to face with, Kagome, Sango and two other strangers, she was sure Sesshoumaru was looking for.

"Rin!" Kagome exclaimed.

"Sesshoumaru…" Inuyasha cried. "Who is that girl, you got a hostage too?"

"Are you alright Kagome?" Rin ran forward to her friend. "Sango? Let them go!!!!"

"Hell I won't!" Inuyasha cried.

"HEY!!!!" someone shouted then behind them.

They turned down the corridor to see other guards on the ship were running towards them.

"Get inside!" Inuyasha yelled rudely at Kagome and pushed her inside as she stumbled onto Rin.

"Kagome," Rin caught her before she fell to the floor.

Miroku moved Sango inside and he pushed the red button next to the door and the door slide shut automatically. Inuyasha using his claws smashed the key pads into bits to stop the other side from opening the door.

"What should we do now?" Inuyasha turned to Sesshoumaru.

Rin was studying Kagome's bruise arms carefully and stared at him furiously. She couldn't believe, Sesshoumaru had asked her to help him look for such a jerk.

"You are trapped here you asshole!" Kagome shouted at Inuyasha.

"What did you say wench!!!!" Inuyasha yelled back.

"ENOUGH!!!!" Sango screamed making everyone except Sesshoumaru jumped. She had been so quiet the whole time. "There is no way you all can get away… these channels will never lead all of you to any ships…"

Sesshoumaru turned to Rin who looked slightly worried and realized that what that girl had said was true. If they couldn't get to their ship and if those guards catch them, he couldn't imagine what they will do to them. He as the Lord of the Western Lands will never be captured by humans. He couldn't imagine the humiliation he had to face.

"But there is a way to get to their ship…" Rin said softly.

"What are you talking about Rin?" Kagome turned to Rin in amazement.

"They save my life," Rin answered softly turning to look at Miroku. "It was your ship… you are Miroku aren't you… I recognized you when I looked up for identification about you…"

"Hai," Miroku who was still holding onto Sango smiled softly. "I am…"

"But still this two are youkai!!!!" Kagome whispered to Rin.

Unfortunately for her they both heard her because of their sensitive ears, Sesshoumaru ignored her but Inuyasha yanked her into his arms again.

"Owww!" Kagome cried. "Let go…"

"I heard that…" Inuyasha whispered into her ear hoarsely.

"It is true you are a youkai aren't you!" Kagome glared back at him which shut him up for good.

"Please, if you all don't hurry, they will break through the door anytime soon!!!!" Rin exclaimed and headed for the pipes again. "But I want you two to leave Sango and Kagome behind…"

"What?" Inuyasha turned to Rin disbelievingly. "You got to be crazy…"

"Do as I say! They stay or I won't bring you to your ship!" Rin ordered with finality in her voice.

"But…" Inuyasha began to protest.

"Leave them…" Sesshoumaru said impatiently.

"Rin!" Kagome quickly reached out towards Rin when Inuyasha let her go. "You can't let this youkai take you with them!"

"I'll be alright." Rin smiled reassuringly.

"Don't you think it would be faster if we fly?" Sesshoumaru asked her as he encircled his arm around her again before she could answer. "Where to?"

Redness crept up to Rin's cheeks again, raised her hands slowly and held onto his shoulders gently.

"Upwards." Rin replied softly.

Inuyasha carried Miroku behind his back and leapt off after his brother, turning back to look at Kagome one last time before they entered another channel. He had never seen a girl with so much fire before.

Kagome? He thought thinking it would be hard to forget about that girl.

Sesshoumaru still had his arms around Rin when they land in the next channel, Rin who was thinking hard about how to get to the docking area didn't realized that her arms were also still around his shoulders until Inuyasha cleared his throat.

"Now what?" He asked curtly.

"Huh?" Rin looked up slightly and quickly let go of Sesshoumaru and stepped out of his embrace. "I think we should go this way…"

"You think?" Inuyasha mocked her.

"I never use these passages before, so how am I to be sure?" Rin snapped back at him.

That shut Inuyasha up for a moment to Sesshoumaru's amazement. He never knew anyone would be able to put Inuyasha at his place before. He was surprised Rin and that Kagome girl could. Rin brought them out from the channel to a brightly lit corridor. Luckily it was empty as they ran down the corridor to the docking bay for visitors.

Rin punched the buttons on the key pads quickly and the door slid opened as their ship came to view. Miroku and Inuyasha dashed forward into the docking bay hurriedly; glad they could finally get away. Sesshoumaru lingered behind staring at Rin.

"Come with me…" He said softly to her.

"I can't, this is my home…" Rin said with a small smile. "You better go before the authorities come."

Taking her into his arms, he leaned down to give her a gentle kiss, taking her by surprise. Her eyes widened as she stared at him. His kiss was different from the other times he had kissed her before. This time his kiss was gentle and not forceful. Not knowing why she didn't mind at all. Slowly Rin close her eyes, letting him kiss her though not giving in to him completely.

Sesshoumaru had to hold his desire to deepen the kiss with all his youkai strength as he kissed her gently. He could feel her relaxing against his grasp though she still couldn't accept him completely. Gradually he used his tongue to caress her lower lip lightly before he let her go. He could feel her shudder slightly when he did; smiling inwardly he looked down at her.

"Are you sure you don't want to come with me?" Sesshoumaru asked again.

"I belong here…" Rin replied softly opening her eyes slowly. "I'm born in Eternal, this is my home."

"HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!!!!!"

They heard someone shout then, Rin and Sesshoumaru turned to the other ship guards with astonishment. More guards pour into the docking area pointing `Xenos Needler' at Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha and Miroku. Rin turned back to Sesshoumaru her eyes widened with fear.

"Sesshoumaru…" Rin whispered.

Sesshoumaru turned back to look at Rin to see her looking at him worriedly. There was fear in her eyes, wondering what would happen to him now that he was caught by her people. The girl who he had known for such a short while was worried and fear for him made him wanted to smile. Nobody had ever been worried for him before. He was touched at the girl's feelings. Slowly he let go of her and turned to face Rin's people.

"I can't believe this!" Inuyasha yelled looking out through the laser bars which had burn his palm when he tried to touch it.

"Those are electrical bars Inuyasha-sama, it would kill me if I touch those. Luckily you are youkai, you only got burn…" Miroku said softly sitting down on a small bunk bed at the side of the cellar.

Sesshoumaru stood at the far end of the corner of the cell his arms cross in front of him and his head bowed slightly. He looked relaxed standing in the darkness like that thinking about what had happened earlier. Rin had tried to stop the authorities to take them to penitentiary but her deeds were unnecessary because he could have taken down those authorities if he wanted to escape. However, he didn't have any intentions to hurt those people Rin had known as her family for many years so he let them take him without any struggle.

"Sess, why did you let this happened?" Inuyasha yelled at his brother who still looked unconcerned in this condition as he lean at the corner of the wall silently.

"Shut up for once Inuyasha." Sesshoumaru said quietly in a deadly voice. "I have a feeling the leader of the ship would be here to talk to us very soon…"

However, Rin, Kagome and Sango appeared down the cell department before the leader or captain did. Sesshoumaru looked up slightly when he sensed her presence. He saw her then walking up to their cell looking slightly abash.

"Hey you bitch, you must have set us up!!!!" Inuyasha yelled at them.

However the three girls ignored him and Rin walked closer to the cell.

"Gomenesai, Sesshoumaru…" Rin said when she was near to their cell. "I promised you that I would get you out…"

"Promised?" Kagome looked at Rin with surprised. "What are you talking about Rin?"

"I didn't mean to break the promise." Rin looked down the ground guiltily ignoring Kagome's question.

"I broke my promise too…" Sesshoumaru said emotionlessly watching her. "We are square…"

Rin looked up with surprised at Sesshoumaru, she knew what he was talking about and blushed slightly. His eyes were hidden behind his bangs so she couldn't tell whether he was angry at her or not though, she had no time to ponder about it when Kikyo appeared.

"What is the meaning of this?!!!!"

Everyone turned to their captain as Rin dread the worse to come, not of what will happen to Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha and Miroku but to herself because she had helped invaders to escape when it was against the rules. She had a feeling that Kikyo knew what she had done.
