Chapter 6- Sesshomaru

Kagome walked down the streets of Tokyo, trying to keep from crying, she had to get over the fact that Inuyasha would never return her feelings, and that she had more important things to worry about, like Kikyo for instance, and the what about the fact that Sesshomaru's body had never been found?

Kagome had seen him fall to the ground, knowing her true identity before he died, or supposedly die, she had even felt his presence disintegrate before she had been confronted by Inuyasha that terrible night.

She tapped her chin thoughtfully, her tears ignored for the time being, she was curious as to why no body had been found, she knew that Sesshomaru had to be dead, so why was no body found? She closed her eyes as several possibilities crossed her mind, the next as unlikely as the one before it.

`If Sesshomaru didn't die...then why didn't he show up and reassure his family that he was alive? It just seems so out of character for Sesshomaru not to try and get to his family, especially if they thought he was dead.

`So why is he hiding? He is hiding I guess, unless...could Naraku have him? I mean he has sis under his control, it wouldn't be that hard for him to get Sesshomaru under his control.' Kagome shook her head as her thoughts became jumbled and hard to decipher.

She continued to walk down the streets, except her tears, which had been forgotten as she had thought about Sesshomaru's mystery disappearance, welled up again and she had to rub at her eyes constantly to keep them from falling.

`Inuyasha....' she began to sob softly, stopping in the middle of the street as her heart broke into a thousand pieces, once again. But suddenly a blast of energy blew her back into a wall, and people started screaming, running every direction before it was just her, and the two people she hadn't noticed that were right behind her, Sango and Ayame.

“Hello, Kagome.” Kagome gasped as she looked up, from where she collapsed after crashing into the wall and sinking to the ground, her attacker was none other than Sesshomaru!

“S-Sesshomaru!” she whispered, standing up slowly. He was standing on the railing that separated the sidewalk from the road, and Kagome realized that he was dressed in a strange kimono, and for some odd reason had a big fluffy thing around his shoulder.

“I have come for the soul you possess.” he said with a smirk. She gasped as his eyes met hers and she felt herself begin to grow light headed, her eyes closed leaving her in darkness, but then a voice penetrated the silent void she was in.

“Sesshomaru!” Inuyasha's voice cried. She heard Sesshomaru curse then his energy disappeared. Kagome felt herself being picked up by someone very strong, and warm.

“Inuyasha.....” she whispered before falling into darkness. Inuyasha looked at her calm face and shivered at how close he had been to losing her, then his thoughts strayed to his brother. Why had he been trying to take Kagome's soul?

“Inuyasha, we need to get her back to her apartment!” Sango said. Inuyasha nodded and followed Ayame and Sango to her apartment carrying the girl that unknowingly put a claim on his heart.

He laid her down on her couch and watched as Ayame put a wet cloth on Kagome's forehead, he sat down on one of the chairs and sighed as his lids grew heavy, and then he was looking at Sango's understanding face.

“Go ahead and take a nap, I'll wake you up if she wakes any time soon.” she whispered, he nodded and let his eyes fall close as he went into his own little dream world.

Sango and Ayame watched over Kagome as she tossed and turned in her sleep, they sighed in sadness at the fact that their friend was in so much turmoil right at the moment.

“I'm worried. Inuyasha now knows that Sesshomaru is alive, does that mean that he won't want Seeker's death anymore?” Ayame whispered as they cooked a small dinner in Kagome's kitchen. Sango sighed and looked out into the living room at their two sleeping friends.

“I dunno...I really don't. But if Inuyasha ever finds out the truth, we can't afford to make those types of assumptions, especially with Naraku apparently knowing Kagome's secret identity, he knows exactly who to use against her.” Sango said turning away from the two.

“Yeah, I guess you're right.” Ayame stated, she shook her head and turned to help Sango, she had a bad feeling about this turn of events.

* * * *

Kagome woke up to the smell of chicken. She groaned sitting up, her head felt like it was about to explode, then she saw Inuyasha was also waking up it would seem, he was sitting in one of the end chairs, and she shuddered as he popped his neck just by moving his head.

That was one of the few things that she didn't miss, him popping his neck every time that he got a chance. She sighed as she heard Ayame's cry of distress then Sango's cry of fear.

“NO! NO! Put that down! Put it down!” they heard a resounding crash and Kagome winced, she could just imagine one of her plates being in a thousand pieces on her kitchen floor, then she smelled something burning.

“Ughh...what is that smell?!” Inuyasha cried covering his nose with his hand as Kagome coughed at the smell, and suddenly she felt very sick. She jumped up from the couch and ran to her bathroom, not bothering to close the door.

How she became sick, she didn't know, after all there was nothing in her stomach to come up, she felt Inuyasha's hand on her back and she absently wondered why the man that said that he hated her was comforting her.

“It's okay, Ayame's cooking has never been that good.” he said, she laughed, or tried to, she just coughed as she became sick again.

“Is everything alright?” came Sango's voice from the doorway. Inuyasha looked up from where he was kneeling beside Kagome as she wiped her mouth.

“Oh, Ayame's cooking just made her sick.” Inuyasha laughed, the wolf demon growled at him and Sango had to step in front of her before she could launch at the half-demon and no doubt strangle him.

“You guys shouldn't fight...” Kagome whispered as she looked at her friends, Inuyasha looked back at her and was startled at how pale she was, maybe it was because she had almost had her soul taken, then he froze as he remembered.

`Sesshomaru...he's alive! But he tried to take Kagome's soul!!!!!!!' he thought angrily, apparently Sango and Ayame saw the look in his eyes and left the room to take refuge in the kitchen, where Sango opted to make plain bologna sandwiches and forcing Ayame to just open a bag of chips.

“Kagome, I only have one question to ask you.” Inuyasha said as Kagome stood up and went over to the sink to splash her face with water to get the last of her sickness away from her face.

“What?” she asked, looking in the mirror at her damp face, she could see Inuyasha's face in the mirror and he looked extremely angry over something, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

“Why was Sesshomaru attacking you? We both know that he died, Seeker said she saw him fall to the ground!” Inuyasha growled taking a step closer to her. She turned around and looked him in the eye.

`I don't remember saying that, but oh well...if I argue he'll know beyond reason that I'm Seeker.' “Inuyasha...Sesshomaru was trying to take my soul.” she said, sighing.

“I know that, baka! Why is what I meant!” Inuyasha growled at her angrily.

“Baka?! Who are you calling a baka?!” Kagome cried before the rest of the statement could leave Inuyasha's mouth.

Inuyasha's head dropped slightly in exasperation, wasn't she suppose to be depressed? The girl yelling at him for calling her baka was definitely not depressed.

“Uh...Kagome, I believe I was calling you a baka, but before you start yelling could you please tell me why Sesshomaru is alive?” he asked softly.

“Well...Seeker told me that there was a demon that had my sister under his control. Seeker told me the signs of being under that demon's control.

“Blank eyes and a red aura around the person. That's why I think maybe this demon has Sesshomaru under his control as well.” Kagome explained the best she could without making it seem she was Seeker.

“Seeker this and Seeker that! You put to much trust in that little bitch.” Inuyasha hissed, Kagome glared up at him through angry eyes before stomping up to his chest and poking him.

“Now you listen...Seeker has tried her best to help me, and I'll bet she'll try to save Sesshomaru to if you just ask her! But you're such a jackass!” Kagome then ran out of her apartment without a word, to pissed at the inu-hanyou to talk to anyone.

Kagome kept running her anger at Inuyasha giving her an adrenaline rush but soon she found that her strength was growing weaker and she stopped having no breath left. She looker around and realized that she was at the old shrine that her family had owned, which she now owned.

She slowly walked up the stairs and sighed as the wind began to blow, she had no reason to be there, all it held was memories, memories that she wasn't so sure that she could handle.

Flashes of happier times with Kikyo came to mind, times that they had spent playing with her younger brother, Sota, before he had died of heart conditions, and the times that they had spent with their mom and dad.

She turned ready to leave and never go back until she felt a tug on her heart, she looked back wondering if she should follow the presence. She shrugged deciding that she had nothing better to do.

And so she let her heart control her movements and found herself walking into the house that she had once called home. She walked up the stairs and right into her old room, and on the floor where her desk had once sat lay a beautiful jewel which was laying on what looked like a photo album.
