Chapter 11- Losing the Will

 

Kagome had already gotten several congratulations on the fact that her sister had returned, and already people were trying to cheer her up again. Inuyasha had not been at school for the entire week, Meka had become herself again and had said that he had told his mother and father that he was going to go away for a few days, that he needed time to think.

 

Kagome was walking back to her apartment when she passed the shrine, and for some reason fell a pull on her heart, she didn't want to go up there, and so she ignored it and kept on walking, she smiled as she read the note that Kikyo had left on the couch.

 

 

Dear Kagome,

 

Hey sis, sorry that I can't stick around for dinner, but Kakeromoro insists on taking me out, I don't know how he knew that Naraku had me under his control, but he did. And I'm ever so thankful.

 

Oh, and before I forget…there's something mum and dad wanted me to tell you if they never got the chance…the reason that Naraku had them shot, I'm sure.

 

You see mum and dad had come into the acquisition of a powerful jewel called the Shikon-no-Tama or `Jewel of Four Souls' anyway it's said that the jewel can grant any wish, and Naraku's just a half-demon.

 

Yeah, I know, it surprised me too when I over heard him telling Kagura.

 

Anyway I have a bad feeling that he'll try to take the jewel, I know you have it, please be careful with it, I don't want to lose you right after I got you back.

Kagome sat on the couch staring at the television set, which wasn't on. So Naraku was a half demon which meant that he was like Inuyasha, but still, how could he be so powerful when he was only half-demon.

 

Kagome knew there was more to it than met the eye, but right at the moment she was to tired to try and figure it out, and so deciding it was a waste to cook something she went out to get something.

 

But as she passed the shrine the same tugging on her heart assaulted her, only it was much stronger and she found it impossible to fight it, and so she turned her feet onto the stairs and went up them

 

When she reached the top, she gasped, Inuyasha stood there looking up at the tree, with his back turned to her, and he was dressed in an odd kimono, that was the first sign that something was wrong, no one, especially Inuyasha, went around walking in a kimono for no apparent reason.

 

Kagome took a few steps towards him, stopping as his ears twitched, he knew that she was there, she watched as he turned around, her eyes held an `I-don't-understand look, then she saw his eyes, they were blank.

 

`Oh…no! His eyes…Naraku has control of his mind! INUYASHA! NO!!!!!!!' she thought as he suddenly disappeared, she fell to her knees, sobbing, she brought out the sacred jewel, but she couldn't bring herself to make a wish on it.

 

She sat there, finding that she was unable to move, and so she sat there until Kikyo and Kakeromoro found her, Kikyo shook her trying to get her attention, but she couldn't look anywhere except where Inuyasha had stood tears leaking out of her eyes.

 

“Kagome! Kagome! Kagome!” Kikyo cried, she finally looked at Kikyo and burst into sobs, Kikyo hugged her, placing her cheek on top of Kagome's head.

 

“Shh. It's alright…what happened?” Kikyo asked as Kakeromoro went into the shrine to get a glass, because he was currently residing in the shrine, and some water.

 

“Inuyasha….Naraku took him!” Kagome whimpered, Kikyo gasped, before hugging her sister even tighter, and as she did so she thought.

 

`Naraku knows Kagome's identity, he knows that she loves Inuyasha and there for knows that it would destroy Kagome to lose Inuyasha now that he knows her true feelings, but she doesn't know his.

 

`Kagome might give the jewel up for Inuyasha…but as harsh as it sounds she can not do that or she'd endanger the entire world.' Kagome pulled back and made Kagome look her in the eye.

 

“Kagome, I know this sounds harsh…but you cannot let Naraku have the jewel in exchange for Inuyasha, if Naraku becomes a full demon he'll destroy the entire world. Do you understand?” Kikyo said.

 

Kagome nodded before she fell against Kikyo, her eyes closed, Kikyo sighed and when Kakeromoro returned with a glass of water had him take Kagome to her old room.

 

Kagome opened her eyes and realized she was in a soft bed, then she looked around and gasped, she was in her old room, where she and Inuyasha had spent all their sleepovers together, she could remember the first time she had touched his dog ears was in her room.

 

Flashback-

 

“Whee!” seven year old Kagome cried as she jumped even higher on her bed, Inuyasha jumping beside her, they both laughed as her mother thumped on her floor with a broom stick, they fell on her bed, still laughing.

 

Kagome sat up as Inuyasha put his clawed hands behind his head, she reached out to touch his dog ears but he hid them suddenly and glared up at her, she pulled her hand away sadly.

 

“Why won't you let anyone touch your ears, they're soooo adorable.” she said with a pout, he rolled his eyes and looked back up at the ceiling before he answered.

 

“It feels weird, it just feels weird and I don't like that, I'm weird enough as it is.” he said, he felt Kagome poke him on the nose causing him to focus his gaze on her.

 

“I don't think your weird, you're my best friend…can I please…pretty please touch your ears?” she asked, he looked at her eyes and sighed letting his ears be seen again, she gave a small squeal.

 

She reached out and touched the furry triangle, and pulled on it gently, then went to the base and began to scratch; she giggled as Inuyasha gave a big yawn and promptly fell asleep, she yawned as well and used his chest as a pillow.

 

End

 

`Oh…Inuyasha….I'm sorry…I'm so sorry.' Kagome sobbed to herself bringing her knees up to her chest, and crying into them, she refused to go to school, the only thing she would do was go to the bathroom and take a shower.

 

She refused to eat or talk, she had lost the will to live, and Kikyo and her friends were at a complete loss of what to do, when one day Koga walked in and saw her sitting on her window sill, she had refused to go back to her apartment and there for all of her things had been moved to the shrine house.

 

“Kagome…if you want…I'll go with you and help you get back that mutt.” Koga said sitting across from her, his voice jerked out of her thoughts and she looked at him amazed and looked into his blue eyes.

 

“Why would you do that?” she asked when all of a sudden all of them came in, Ayame, Sango, and Miroku, they were all wearing sympathetic smiles.

 

“Because…we're your friends, and Inuyasha is our friend, we're going after him, now get dressed, we have work to do.” Ayame said with a bigger smile, Kagome let a small smile break on her lips, there was a light shining through the abyss she had thrown herself into, maybe she could climb out with her friends' help.
