InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Demon Song ❯ Heroes, Fleas and Word of the Chosen One ( Chapter 6 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Last time:

Inu Yasha was worried. He had never wanted things to turn out the way they did. He didn't really love Maeka, it was more of a… how would you explain it…lust would be too strong of a word. I guess it was just physical attraction…he thought. He realized now that kissing Maeka was a BIG mistake. He should have gotten out of this mess while he could. He should be with Kagome, not Maeka!

Chapter 6: Heroics, fleas and Word of Chosen Ones

Inu Yasha knew what he must do now; it was just how to do it that confused him greatly. How was he to save Kagome if he still wanted to keep his liking her a secret? This was going to be difficult, he could tell already.

He just go in and save her and risk everything, all by himself, I might add. Or he could wimp out and get help from his friends to make sure that no one found out that he liked Kagome…choices, choices…

>.<

Aurora_thorn: Inu Yasha sure is stupid…

Fuki: No, just unlike him you don't care about other people's feelings.

phsycho_bitch: And you do?

Fuki: *Glare*

phsycho_bitch: that face doesn't work for me.

Fuki: it wasn't supposed to.

*both turn their backs on each other*

Aurora_thorn: Seriously, you two are impossible!

Kagome waited for hours. Hoping, willing, for some kind of miracle to get her out of this hellhole. The darkness pressed in on all sides. It was stifling and Kagome knew if she could not find a way out, they would suffocate.

Sesshomaru's breath was becoming more even and he seemed on the brink of consciousness. His eyelids fluttered and Kagome caught him mumbling some incomprehensible words. She stroked his head, wishing he would wake to aid her. It would be very hard to get him out of this prison if he was still unconscious.

She laid his head down, careful not to jostle him. If he would moved Kagome knew that it would start the flow of blood out of the wound in his leg. That would not be good. She had torn up most of her sweatshirt trying to bind it. It was not a large wound but it was deep. He had lost too much blood to begin with, he could not afford to loose any more. Luckily she could bind it, she had found a way to wriggle free of the bonds that held her hands in place. It seemed whoever had tied her had not cared about her getting loose, or had purposely tied them that way…

Kagome blinked. She thought she had seen the air around her shimmer. She rubbed her eyes, there it was again! I'm just tired, she thought. She shivered, she was suddenly cold. She felt like someone had dropped a brick of lead in her stomach. She suddenly had a realization: they were not alone.

Duhn, duhn, duhn…..

Sango and Kirara strolled through the forest, following the path to a spring. Sango admired the fall spring colors. The maroon of the Japanese maple contrasted with the soft pink of sakura, cherry blossoms. She breathed it in.

"This is so peaceful, don't you agree Kirara?" She laughed as the fire-cat bounced along playfully swatting at passing bees. She meowed that annoying little meow cats make when they're really happy. Then her expression changed as she went into a mock crouch. She wiggled slightly and then pounced on her imaginary prey, or, in this case, not so imaginary…

"YEOWCH!!! GEROFFME!!!" Sango ran over to see what all the noise was about. She found Kirara looking proud and holding something that looked like an oversized flea in her mouth.

"Is it yours?" It asked her, referring to Kirara. Sango nodded.

"Well get the mangy jackass off of me!" Sango's faced changed from confused to enraged in a matter of seconds.

"Kirara?" The cat let out a muffled meow.

"Sick `em girl." She ordered her calmly. Kirara opened her mouth just enough to let a large jet of fire leak out. That lighter fluid had value after all… Sango thought to herself, highly amused. The flea let out a strangled moan. He didn't look more like a flea anymore for that matter… more like a piece of charcoal. Sango took pity on the poor thing and decide she would bring him back to camp with her. She whipped out a tiny little wooden box she carried tea leaves in, emptied them out onto the grass (and all over Kirara's nose). She then stuffed the flea in the box and closed it. She thought she heard another muffled swear word, but she chose to ignore it. It wouldn't do him any good; anyways it was probably Kirara sneezing from the tea leaves.

Inu Yasha realized, yet again, that he needed to save Kagome alone. He couldn't get his friends involved, it was too dangerous. (Aurora_thorn: how many times have we heard that before?)Anyways, if he did it alone, maybe Kagome would think he was really brave, and maybe even start to like him… (Fuki: Is this how all people act when they're in love, or just the stupid ones? Physcho_bitch: I thought you just said Inu Yasha's not stupid… okay, now I'm confused!>.<)

Inu Yasha gathered a pack together: a water canteen and a pack of Ramen (courtesy of Kagome), as well as a bedroll and flint. He wondered where Kagome could be… hmm, the forest… no, to obvious, the village… not likely, the stream… That was it! There was a waterfall down the river where one of the springs was located. There was sure to be some kind of cave behind it!

Jin,

You have done well, yet your personal spy is useless. You have no need for her anymore. Get rid of her, I don't care how, just do it. If you do not, I will find someone more suitable for your job, do not get too cocky. And do not think I don't know about your plans for the Demon Song. Let me make two things clear to you: You are my servant, you do as I tell you, if you don't I get rid of you. If you obey me I reward you. The Demon Song is mine. If you have other plans for it, I'll make secure a place for you in hell.

Jin read the note from his master and scowled. He hated her, and yet she would help him to find the Demon Song. And so he had to obey her… somewhat. Still it was frustrating to be bossed around. Especially by a woman; women have no right meddling with men's business!

>.<

Aurora_thorn: Geez, that dude needs a whack on the head. Never let a man do a woman's job, that's what I say!

Fuki: Does that count for male marsupials as well?

phsycho_bitch: take a wild guess.

When Sango brought the flea back to camp, Kikyo noticed him immediately.

"Myoga!" Kikyo barked, "You're late!"

"I got here as fast as I could, now could you please direct me to Inu Yasha?" Myoga retorted. Everyone looked around, trying to place the last time they had seen Inu Yasha.

Kikyo put the pieces together. "Oh shit, he's playing hero again!" They all sighed and shook their heads.
"When will he ever learn?" asked Sango.

"Well I'll just have to inform you guys then instead." The trio looked at one another thinking the same thought.

"Shouldn't Maeka also listen?" Miroku asked curiously.

"No time…" Myoga muttered strangely. Kikyo raised an eyebrow at the flea's strange behavior but decided not to say anything about it.

When the threesome and Myoga were huddled around the campfire, Myoga told them why he had come.

"As Kikyo knows, I am Inu Yasha's spy and part-time advisor, when I`m not spying of course. I have some troublesome news, and I fear that it might be too late; Inu Yasha will have to fight blind on this one. Oh, and by the way no need waiting up for your Maeka, she won't be coming back to camp."

"So, you must be the infamous Kagome, and her pet dog, Sesshomaru, or is it Fluffy?" Jin sneered. He watched as Kagome's face contorted with rage.

"What the fuck are you high on?" She demanded, trying to keep her voice steady. Jin laughed an evil high pitched laugh. A he was amused by this girl. So much confidence, he mused, I can fix that. Kagome raised an eyebrow.

"Okay, you got away with your little joke so let us go now. We have nothing to tell you." She stated firmly. Her voice faltered when she saw the look on Jin's face: one of pure evil and blind hatred.

"I'm sure you'll change your mind once you feel this!" Suddenly Kagome's whole body seared with pain. She clenched her jaw shut, determined not to scream. Pain lanced through her body, blinding her. The pain was overwhelming, willing herself not to make a sound; she blinked, clearing her eyes. The man was controlling the pain with a jewel around his neck. Kagome recognized him as the man that had pretended to be Sesshomaru.

"Give up?" He asked maliciously. He seemed to be enjoying hurting her. Kagome knew she could not hold on much longer…

"STOP IT!!!" Inu Yasha broke through the opposite wall, knocking Jin to the ground and breaking his concentration. As suddenly as the pain had started it stopped. Kagome heaved herself over to the corner and propped herself against the stone.

"Are you okay?" Inu Yasha asked, concerned. Kagome nodded her head, and then moaned softly. All the bones in her body throbbed. Inu Yasha frowned, giving Kagome a once over.

Kagome blinked back tears as she watched Inu Yasha steadily advance towards the crumpled form of Jin. Without warning the man jumped stealthily to his feat, dealing a fatal blow… if it hadn't been for Sesshomaru.

His whip wrapped around Jin's neck, breaking it. Jin screamed silently, his mouth gasping for the air that was not there. Finally his eyes rolled to the back of his head and his rapid breathing stopped.

Both Inu Yasha and Sesshomaru had turned to the wall that Inu Yasha had burst through. There, framed by the light from outside, stood Sango, Miroku and Kikyo. A small flea sat on Sango's shoulder.

Miroku turned to Myoga, wonder on his face.

"She really is the chosen one!"

Wow, that took me a long time! It was worth it though. I hope you guys like it, since it took me forever and all. K, well I'll probably write more before the holidays, but if I don't, Happy Hanukkah, Kwanza, Christmas and New Year!

Fuki: Yah,Yah,Yah… >.< I hate the holidays.
