InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Demons in Disguise ❯ Power and Panic ( Chapter 4 )
Sesshou had felt a strange surge of power rush through him when the dim-witted human denied his request. A power that had always been with him. Dormant, waiting for an opportunity to be released. And Lin seemed to have been the key. Sesshou's was surprised and slightly startled to feel how much he enjoyed seeing the inferior over-weight man cower before him. The power was etching for a place to vent. Even when the human opened the door, Sesshou had decided he wanted, and could get more out of the pathetic creature.
Using speed and strength he never knew he had, Sesshou clutched the weak man's neck in his hand. Relishing the fear he could feel radiating from the human's body. Wait. What was he doing? How could he do this? Sesshou was practically defying the laws of physics. But for someone, Sesshou couldn't bring himself to put the man down. Not yet.
Fred's cowardice increased when Sesshou's expression became more placid. He preferred anger over the serenity on his face. Sesshou's lips were straight with no hint of emotion and his eyes shared the same quality. When he spoke, his voice was the same but it was as flat as his expressionless face.
"This is not a request, little man," Sesshou spoke. "My destination would take too long to travel to from here. I want you to turn this bus around and drive us back. Now."
Fred's neck stung from the piercing claws. He gagged and choked from Sesshou's strong grasp on his neck. There was barely enough space left in his wind pipe for him to breathe at all. The golden eyes staring at him were completely void of any expression. Fred had no idea what was happening. How could any decent human being do this to someone without a single tang of emotion? Why would anyone do this to someone without anger, pleasure, hatred, struggle, or remorse? What kind of monster was this kid?!?
"P-p-please," Fred cringed and choked. "Let go…"
Sesshou's gaze seem to harden slightly. There was still no mood in his demeanor. It was just becoming harder, like water to ice. Without any sign of strain, Sesshou raised the chubby bus driver into the air. His clawed hand tightened slightly around Fred's neck.
"Spare me your pleas. Answer my question," Sesshou practically spat out the words. His eyes narrowed threateningly. "Or I'll kill you."
Fred's eyes widened in total encompassing fear. He was lucky his bladder was already empty. He could tell that the kid was dead serious. Fred's fat feet dangled helplessly in the air.
"O-okay," Fred rasped in barely a whisper.
Sesshou immediately opened his palm, releasing the half-wit from his clutches. Fred dropped down to the floor, landing hard on knees. He coughed and choked helplessly. His own hands clutching his neck, there were bits of tissues and phlegm escaping from his throat. Sesshou looked down at the man slightly baffled. He hadn't held his neck that hard.
Sesshou watched curiously as the pathetic creature gurgled while reaching his hand for something on the dashboard. Fred's fingers rubbed the dashboard frantically. He sent burger wrappers, empty bottles, crumpled cigarettes, and other repulsive objects onto the floor of the bus.
Sesshou soon became fed up with the idiot's antics. He slammed his foot down onto Fred's back so that he was forced down onto his stomach, clutching at his chest. Fred's breathing became long and hoarse. In one swift motion, Sesshou picked the driver up by the collar of his shirt and held him close to his irked face.
"What haven't you started driving? My patience is wearing thin."
Fred suddenly stopped his painful coughs. There was blood spattered around his lips from his hacking. His eyes were wide, not only in fear, but in excruciating pain as well. Fred's breathing was forced.
"My pills…," Fred's voice was barely audible. "I need them…I have a heart condition. I need…I need…"
Fred stopped and became slack in Sesshou's grasp. Sesshou could still sense his heart beating, barely. With a scowl, he threw the dying man onto the driver's seat. It was then that he saw a horrible monster staring back at him through the rear-view mirror. A gasp escaped his lips; the monster did too. Suddenly, Sesshou identified the monster. It was himself.
Sesshou cried out and stumbled back, catching his fall on the front passenger's seat. He dared himself to look in the mirror again, relieved to find that he was no longer the monster, and was instead his usual self. That is to say he was relieved until everything that had happened in the last hour hit him like a brick wall. The dark power, choking Fred, demanding things of the driver, and most of all not caring! Not caring what happened to Fred or his life. Quivering, Sesshou's eyes looked down to the nearly motionless man sprawled back on the seat.
"Oh god, oh god, oh god!" Sesshou trembled. He had to do something! Anything! And what about Lin? She was still lying back there dead to the world. And soon this man in front of Sesshou would be dead to all. He had to act fast. Sesshou slammed open the door and leaped off the bus. He stumbled through the puddles of the deserted ally, his breathing was quick as his amber eyes frantically searched the streets for anyone who could help him.
"Hello! Anyone! Please, I need help!" Sesshou ran down the sidewalk shouting all the way. He was in the bad part of town, and the few people who were present at the moment weren't at all interested in helping him. Sesshou turned a corner, his heart seemed to be punching against the inside of his chest and his sides felt like they were being slashed with razors. Even with all the exhaustion, he wouldn't give up.
Down the sidewalk, Sesshou could see a telephone booth. He ran the length quickly though his legs threatened to collapse at any moment. Sesshou knocked his fist against the glass to get the attention of the woman in the booth. She turned her head and leered at him.
"Don't be so rude!" she shouted, pushing a few locks of dirty blonde hair behind her ear. "Wait your turn. Sorry, Heero, I was rudely interrupted by some guy outside the door."
Sesshou whimpered anxiously and banged against the door some more.
"Listen, miss, this is a medical emergency. I really need to use the phone."
"Why should I believe you?" the girl put the phone back to her ear, completely ignoring the hysterical boy outside the booth. Sesshou was desperate and didn't have the time to argue with this girl. He flung the door open causing the girl to gasp and hold up a can of pepper spray.
"Get away from me, creep!" the girl exclaimed. Before she even had a chance to press the button, Sesshou had pinned her against the glass holding her hands behind her back.
"I'm really sorry about this, miss, but it's the only way," Sesshou told her remorsefully. The girl whimpered as he pressed two fingers into the back of her neck. She slid down the wall, fainted. Sesshou knew one day he'd be thankful for taking that course in acupressure.
A male voice, probably the Heero guy she was talking to, was speaking with concern from the dangling phone.
"Relena? Relena! What happened?! Are you okay?!"
Sesshou put the phone to his ear and waited for a chance to speak. When he did speak he put on his best professional previously-recorded voice he could.
"I'm sorry your call has been disconnected. Please hang up and try again."
Before hanging up, Sesshou glimpsed at the not all too attractive girl lying on the floor who had rudely rejected his pleas.
"And try a brunette next time."
Sesshou slammed the phone onto the receiver. He fumbled through his pockets for some loose change. Grabbing the necessary amount of coins he dropped them into the slot while going through a mental list of available people who he could, even barely, consider friends. Besides his pets, Sesshou only had two true friends. Fortunately, he knew one who was available for sure. He had just gotten back from China visiting relatives. Sesshou punched in the numbers hastily and squirmed anxiously waiting for someone to answer.

Chang Wufei had just entered the door of his penthouse in the highest class area of town. He removed his motorcycle helmet and sighed wearily. After tossing his helmet onto kitchen table and his keys into the key bowl he jumped onto his leather couch. He grabbed the remote off of the crystal coffee table and began searching the hundreds of channels on his HD flat screen television.
While surfing the channels, his phone began to ring. Wufei was just too tired to answer it. Being a weapons specialist for Chinese intelligence would do that so a guy. If the call was important they would leave a message. After a few rings Wufei's clever and well thought out answering machine activated: "Leave a message."
"Wufei! This is important! Answer the phone! Get your ass over to the phone, you lazy son of a-"
Wufei leaped up off his couch and lunged for the phone. He had never heard the placid Sesshou, who was in the same advanced technology and computer class as him in college, so worked up before. Wufei grabbed the telephone and brought it to his ear.
"Sesshou? Wufei here. What's so important that you had to insult me over the phone?"
Wufei noticed the Sesshou's breathing was quick and panicked.
"Wufei! Listen, I don't think I have a lot of time, but I need you to come down here…I don't know how to explain this. Look just come down here! Two people are passed out, could be dying…I'm down here east of main street. There's an alley. I'll be waiting for you. Come quickly, please."
"Of course, Sesshou. I'll be right there."
"Thanks, Wufei."
There was a click on the other end of the conversation as Sesshou hung up.
