A world of high-class shops and businesses whizzed by Rin's eyes as the taxi moved across the streets. Sesshou sat beside her in the taxi with his hand rubbing her shoulder. Rin's face was pressed against the cold glass of the window, staring in awe at the fancy structures they were passing.

"So, uh, your friend Wufei lives in this part of the town?" Rin asked and looked back at her white-haired companion. Sesshou gave and nod and looked out the window for a moment.

"Yeah I met him in college," Sesshou told her. "He's a real whiz with mechanics and technology. Everything else too. If I hadn't gotten a scholarship I'd never even step foot on the posh campus."

The taxi stopped at the foot of a large, white apartment complex with what seemed like a thousand stories to Rin. They stepped out, paid the driver, and strode up to the clear glass doors. The doorman smiled and tipped his hat to Rin, who giggled and wiggled her fingers at him. Sesshou nodded to the doorman and led Rin through the doors into the lavish lobby.

While Sesshou went to speak with the man at the front desk, Rin inspected the plush chairs and smelled the fragrant flower arrangements. She spotted a small statue of an elegant oriental lady on the side table. She awed at it and ran her finger along the jade hair and down to the sculpted dress. When her finger was pressing against the outer rim of an arm, it accidentally snapped and dropped off the statue. Rin froze in distress and quickly tried to press the arm back into the jade shoulder. With no avail, Rin shoved the arm into her pocket just as Sesshou was approaching. She whirled around and gave him an all too innocent smile.

"Hi, Sesshou! So are we, um, going to go see your friend now?" Rin hastily inquired. Sesshou looked at her suspiciously and nodded his head.

"Yeah, I just called him from the desk," Sesshou verified. "We can go up anytime."

"Okay, that's great. Let's go now," she hastened to say with her suspicious smile. "Hurry now, can't keep Wufie waiting."

"I guess not-whoa!" Sesshou blurted. Rin had strung her arm through his and was dragging him along at a quick walk toward the elevators. When they were around the corner in front of the elevators, Rin let out a huge sigh and relaxed. Sesshou decided it was better not to ask, and pressed the button to get an elevator.

Once they were safely headed up to Wufei's floor, Rin leaned against Sesshou with a smile. He put his arm around her and held her close. She grinned and dug her head in his chest. They were simply enjoying each other's company until a loud "clank" sound rang through the elevator shaft. Rin jumped at the sound and Sesshou simply looked around him, wondering where the sound came from.

"W-what was that?" Rin blubbered clinging tightly to Sesshou's shirt. Another "clank" sound resounded followed by a loud metallic creak. Rin yelped and pressed even closer to Sesshou. He held her tight and continued inspecting the inside of the elevator with his eyes.

"Don't worry, Rin. It's probably just, uh…you know, usual elevator noises," he claimed, but he couldn't convince himself let alone Rin. It was quiet for a minute longer so that Rin and Sesshou were beginning to calm down. But their relaxation was broken when a thundering "clang" resounded and the elevator they were in came to a complete halt in the middle of the shaft.

"Oh, god, what's going on?!" Rin shrieked. She began to scream and completely freak out. Sesshou was able to muffle her ear-piercing shrieks by hugging her close so that she was screaming into his jacket. He scoot himself over to the elevator counsel and pressed the emergency button, but nothing happened. Next, he tried the phone but the line was dead.

"Oh, shit," he cursed. Sesshou slammed the phone back onto the receiver.

"What? What?" Rin looked up, her eyes brimming with tears. "What's wrong? Why did you curse? What's wrong?!"

"Don't panic, sweetie, but the, uh," Sesshou hesitated. "Well…the phone is dead."

Rin screamed again and Sesshou cringed from the sound. He held Rin's head in his jacket again and sat down with her in a corner of the elevator. Trying to calm her, he stroked her hair and rubbed her back.

"Shh, shh, it's okay, Rin. They'll realize we're in here and come get us. Don't panic, everything will be alright," Sesshou assured. Rin stopped screaming and just began to sob and sniff into his jacket.

"That's right, Rin, it'll be okay."

Rin's sobs became softer until she pulled away and set the side of her head on Sesshou's shoulder. The spot on his brown jacket where Rin's face had been resting was slightly damp and wrinkled. Sesshou removed his jacket and folded it up to provide a little cushion for Rin. He set her on it and she leaned against the wall of the elevator, tilting onto Sesshou who was in the corner.

"Th-thanks, Sesshou," Rin sniffed.

Sesshou couldn't be sure how much time had passed. It had probably only been ten minutes, but it felt like an hour. Rin was still leaning against Sesshou, wiping her dry tears off her cheeks. The minutes went by slowly and dragged like syrup on a cold day. Everything was peaceful for a time. But it didn't last.

A few more minutes passed when suddenly, there was the sound of something straining like old leather being bent. Rin gasped a little and looked up to where the sound was coming from. Sesshou did too and clung to Rin, like she was doing to him. The straining sound waned and was immediately followed by a loud crack. The elevator tilted violently and the side slammed against the shaft, sending Sesshou and Rin sliding across the floor stopping on the right wall of the elevator.

Rin was screaming again, and even Sesshou was beginning to panic. His eyes were stretched and he sat completely erect and alert. To make things worse the lights began to flicker and then they went out completely. For a while everything was dark, and the only sound was Rin's raspy breathing and screams. Then without warning, a strange gold light appeared in Sesshou's eyes illuminating a bit of the shaft. Rin stopped wailing and looked curiously at Sesshou who seemed more or less unaware of the change.

"Did it just get brighter in here?" Sesshou pondered.

"Sesshou," Rin noted.

"Yes?" Sesshou swung his head to face her so that she jumped a bit when his glowing eyes met hers.

"Your eyes," she hinted. "They're…uh, they're glowing."

"Huh?" he looked up to the mirror on the ceiling of the elevator and gasped. "Whoa."

He didn't have long to marvel over his change because another straining noise began sending a new wave of panic through both of them.

"Sesshou!" Rin bawled and lept onto him. He wrapped one arm around her to keep her still while trying to think out a plan of action. Rin noticed that his hair was beginning to shimmer a little in the light of his eyes. The blue moon and magenta stripes were appearing on his face as well. But Sesshou seemed completely unaware of these transformations, and Rin decided it was better not to tell him.

"Rin," Sesshou barked suddenly. "Hold on to my back."

Rin did as she was told and laid herself against his back with her arms locked around his neck. When her head was in his now silvery hair, Rin could swear that it had even grown a little longer. She could feel Sesshou's muscle tighten as the straining noise of the elevator wires began to fade. It was easy to tell, that he was about to do something remarkable.
