InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Demons in Disguise ❯ Disturbing Developments ( Chapter 31 )
"Oh, happy day! Come my, darlings! We must see to our new residents."
Jarogajin hurried through her cobblestone pathways to where Sesshou, Rin, and Inuyasha were fast asleep. Following her were a few of her precious Djinn (A/N: Djinn are described in the chapter 'Delightfully Insane', just in case you forgot) tagging along at her heels. A pair of lovely neko-youkai females were close behind her.
"Finally! I've been waiting for quite a while!" Jarogajin cheered as she looked down at the slumbering Rin. Her black eyes twinkled.
"Oh, she's even prettier than I had thought!" she ran her fingers through one of the Djinn's orange mane. "My dear children, I'm sure you may forgive me if I act a little selfish and snatch this one up for myself! I suppose you'll just have to settle for that loud-mouth look alike. She was just going to rot in the dungeon anyway."
She clapped her clawed hands.
"You two," Jarogajin pointed to the neko-youkai. They instinctively flinched. "Please, take this sweet human girl and dress her in the floral silks. Pastel color, preferably. Afterward, I shall be along to enchant her. She'll make a wonderful addition to the maid staff in the Ladies Parlor. Take her now, I expect to see her in the parlor in no less than an hour."
"Yes, Mistress Jarogajin," the two females said in unison. Quickly, they grabbed Rin and carried her off. As Rin was lifted away, Jarogajin saw the man who had been carrying her.
"Gracious! He's practically identical to my husband!"
She studied Sesshou's pale face with the moon and stripe markings. Being in such close proximity with its reincarnation, the soul trapped inside Jarogajin's necklace swirled more violently than ever and began to give off a light blue glow. The enchantress noticed this and soon felt the soul inside the body before her.
"How can this be?" She waved her hand over Sesshou's neck taking in the presence of his soul. "This has the exact energy as my Lord and husband's spirit. But…but this isn't him. I don't understand…"
Jarogajin fawned over the idea for a few more moments before she did her best to shake off the strange notion.
"My children, take this demon to my personal springs. I wish to extract the soul from him so that his presence shall no longer bother me. As for him--"
Jarogajin looked down at Inuyasha.
"Hmm…a hanyou? Delightful! I haven't had one of those in centuries! Take this one to your playrooms, my Djinn. You may use this one as a playmate instead of that little human in the dungeons. I'll just give her to the man-servants. They haven't had a human bitch for quite a while."
The creatures eagerly threw Inuyasha on one back and skipped off happily while another set took Sesshou off down a different path. Something reminiscent to sanity briefly stirred within Jarogajin's being. She couldn't help but wonder who was that demon…was he a demon? She sensed a good amount of demon in his presence, but there was a small mixture of human. Not enough to be a half-demon, though.
During this moment of sanity, the environment around her shifted. The many perfect flowers and plants twisted and withered. The fruit growing from the trees became sour and dried, deflating into disgusting rotted lumps. The few clouds in the sky immediately came together into a swirling dark mass, slowly spinning over the focal point of the castle, waiting and prepared to strike anything down. This dangerous environment lingered a moment more before Jarogajin's sanity receded once more into her psyche.
At this the flowers bloomed again, the plants flourished, the fruits inflated into succulent juicy morsels, and the clouds separated lightening into a fluffy white. The Lady Jarogajin smiled brightly entering her happy world of delusion again. She ambled back to the castle with a bounce in her step. Then again, this display of darkness with sanity shows that beneath her delightfully insane exterior, there is an even darker and more dangerous creature; lurking and biding its time…
